I have a aerogarden mint plant I started nearly 4 years ago...I have grown multiple plants from its cuttings and thought I killed it when I had a power outage and it was without water or lights ..I found one piece alive it's now thriving ..mint is amazing!
WOW! yeah, mint is amazing. It is easy for them to spread in the soil but I never thought they will do good in hydroponics as well.
It really is ! I left my chocolate mint outside during the winter and only sting , it looked terrible. Well, it rained every couple days for a couple weeks and sure enough , it came back to life with new runners 😊
Fixing to start mint from cuttings today! Indian variety like this video🙂
@@AmitPatel-nn5kr awesome!
I am going to try this in my iDoo 12-pod system. I love mint tea in winter.
Mint did amazing in my hydro system as well! They loooove hydro ;) Great video, thanks for sharing your experience!
Really ? I was wondering how it would do because of runners. I was hesitant to put them in hydro
@@makeoversbymeme2077 Yes! I ignored the runners and just kept pruning so that the side shoots grow over and over. You can keep it in its own space by pruning every few days. :) good luck
@@Arianelle-PLC thank you
Great video as always! I love mint.
Excellent video, my friend. I'm thinking an AeroGarden Harvest 360 would be too short for me to grow spearmint and peppermint mints (max 12" height).
I think Aerogarden Harvest 360 (in fact, any Harvest model) is perfect for mint. Mint can grow tall, but it's better to harvest aggressively rather than let it grow tall over 1 foot. We get good yield of mint with aggressive harvesting.
Great video! In the future you should experiment with maxibloom for fruiting plants. I wonder if it would be better than AG nutrients.
Sure. Will do. Thanks.
Do you have any recommendations for germination for mint or just place the seeds inside a pod and put into Aerogarden?
You can start Mint seeds directly in Aerogarden. It takes lots of time, but it works. Just place multiple seeds and thing out later on. I recommend don't add nutrition until you see the seedlings.
Oh! Forgot to ask: what do you do with all the mint you harvest? Any suggestions?
We use it a lot in Indian cooking like mint chutney that goes well with white rice. Mint goes well (and a must have ingradient) in all the non-vegetatian curries. It adds very good flavor to any soup and Ramen, when added in a small quantity. Other frequent use for me, especially in winter, is to make mint tea (just boil some mint in hot water for 2 mins, rest it for 5 mins, add honey if needed).
Mojitos!
@@gene_hunter2907 forgot about that one! 😂
@@aerogardenexperiments Thanks for the response, will consider those cooking options :)
Merhaba bende 12 li idoo aldım. Şimdilik memnunum . Marul domates salatalık tohumları koydum. Fan kısmını ne zAman çalıştırmalıyım. Yüksekliği neye göre değiştirmeliyim
You can turn on the fan once you see the seedlings.
Regarding height, there is a dial on the light rod. Lose it a bit and adjust the height.
By the way, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers will be too many in that garden. Maybe you can move the cucumber plant to a different garden.
@@aerogardenexperiments öncelikle teşekkür ederim. Salatalık yaprakları sararmaya başladı . Fan ayarı sürekli açık mı olmalı
Will this do well for other plants as well such as lettuce and strawberries?
Lettuce grows well in iDoo. Strawberries will be challenging to grow.
@@aerogardenexperiments Thanks for the prompt response. I have an iDoo setup in a box and maxigrow nutrients on their way now. Ill be buying seeds shortly to start. I was looking at a single basil plant, a mint plant and four or five lettuce plants. Probably way to many but i can harvest weekly.
@@mro2352 that sounds good. Should be fine.
How long do the mint plants live for?
They were going on for 6+ months, but I took them out to try something different.
@@aerogardenexperiments nice! Do you think they could have lasted longer?
@@JemimahMai yeah, they could have lasted longer, given we maintain them well by changing water once in a while.
Would be interesting to see a comparison of a method like this versus hydro kit - ua-cam.com/video/gYvfOwCARTc/v-deo.html. Imagine hydro yields better but again mint grows fast and wild.
😒 "promo sm"!!
