Per info from Elvis UA-cam “Elvis Presley’s 1968 comeback special reminded audiences of the songs that made him a superstar. This hits-packed medley, performed by Elvis in his iconic black leather suit, is one of many highlights of the original broadcast; it’s now available in full HD on ’68 Comeback Special: 50th Anniversary Edition, an in-depth 5CD/2BD box set in stores November 30”.
My first-time reaction to this classic Elvis performance was fun, highly spirited. What a delight! Elvis, "the King of Rock and Roll" entertains us with his remarkable dance moves, charismatic stage presence and smile.

@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 Elvis karate teacher "Master Kang Rhee" said: "Elvis was really good at karate and he earned his black belt!" Do you know Ed Parker? Not Elvis' manager, who also had that name: Ed Parker was a world champion and inventor of the martial art Kenpo. He was very famous in the martial arts scene and taught this sport to young people all over the world until his death. He was always traveling around the world and had a lot to do. but he often made time for Elvis when Elvis was on tour because he really liked Elvis. There are also many pictures where he trains with Elvis because he thought Elvis Presley was a good martial artist. Do you also know that it was Elvis Presley who was one of the first to make martial arts famous in the USA!? Elvis did karate in some film scenes, which the audience didn't know before.

@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 You need to get real information and not just nonsense about Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley karate teacher Kang Rhee himself said that Elvis was good at karate and deserved a black belt. Ed Parker, who was the inventor of the martial art Kenpo and was very successful in teaching the sport to young people around the world and was also a world champion, said: "Elvis was a good martial artist!" Ed Parker was very successful worldwide and gave free lessons to young people all over the world (until he died in the early 90s). He loved Elvis Presley as a person and always made time to protect Elvis Presley on tour as a bodyguard. he refused payment because he loved Elvis as a friend. There are some recordings with Elvis and Ed Parker where they also train. I know them from other sides and know that they are Michael Jackson fans. But that doesn't mean you have to tell untruths about Elvis Presley, right? I've read some very terrible things about Michael Jackson that I don't even want to write here. Do you like it if I write it?

This is one of my favorite live recordings of Elvis (68 Comeback). Elvis was at his best. He was so handsome here & looked so cool in his black leather. This was an intimate setting with the audience members sitting around him. You could see how relaxed & at ease he was. He had a great voice & could sing anything whether it was ballads, gospel or rock.
"Hound Dog" was first recorded by Big Mama Thornton in 1952. Many people have recorded it, but Elvis' 1956 version is the most famous.

The Elvis Presley story is huge and the biggest in the music world (about 2000 books): in these 2000 books there is not a single piece of evidence that it was Elvis. And if that's not enough: Elvis Presley had an incredible number of friends and fans in the black population. This is very, very, very well documented (there are hundreds of statements from black artists, fans, etc.). Everyone only says good and loving things about Elvis Presley. These are all facts that you can read. Why do they react like that? Is it so difficult to understand what I want to say? Elvis is the King because he took Black music (from night clubs he frequently attended ) and popularised it with the White young people who bought records putting rock music on the map. It was new and many grown ups hated everything about it. I remember it clearly.

    • @matrix5000100
      @matrix5000100 Місяць тому

@ed.z: Elvis Presley's beginnings were country music (white music). Elvis Presley's first number one hit (Heartbreak Hotel) was written by a white man. This was followed by the second number one hit “Hound Dog”! Also written by one or two white people. Elvis loved black culture, but his interests were somewhere else entirely. you can read that.

You should have seen some of his moves when he was younger then this even. There isn't a whole lot of footage although there are lots of black and white still images but there is some.
The guy truly was an amazing athlete. I think it goes underappreciated sometimes but people that know how to play music live and move and sing and all the stuff that goes with it recognized just like you did all that is really going into it behind the scenes physically.

@@Elvista It is a cover, but Elvis changed the text, music and delivery. It almost sounds like two different songs. But actually it was Heartbreak hotel that was so ground breaking that it is the song most singers from the 60/70 said started their careers. Among those were John Lennon, David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Cliff Richard. Another funny thing is that many in Denmark became fans of Elvis because of ballads like "Are you lonesome tonight" and "It's now or never". Both because they are great songs, but also because we could not buy Presleys records here before 1959/60 , which means non of the 10 number 1 hits Elvis had in a row, between 1956-1959. When comparing record sales it is worth remembering how much harder it was to buy records in the 50'. You had to go to a record store, No streaming. People in countries outside USA had a much harder time both seeing the artist and getting the records. And still Elvis is the highest selling artist of all time. Some say The Beatles, but even if this is true I think Elvis sales are more impressive as 1)He is only 1 against 4, 2) He was at the hight of his career When the buying population was smaller and has less exposure 3) The Beatles still has members being alive and releasing solo albums and advertising their old albummet 4). Elvis did everything first and without any guidence (immagine what he could have done with some support.

Country (in 1999 he was named thr worlds 14 best country singer in a big country magazine), of couse he was the king of rock'n roll, but he also got 3 Grammys for his Gospel music. Then there is the blues which he was again one of the best. Elvis had a black belt in karate, so he had to be flexible for his stage moves.

After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”

"Describe Elvis? He is the greatest there ever was, is, or ever will be" - Chuck Berry

"To me they didn't make a mistake when they called him the King" -B.B. King
"Elvis was a giant. He influenced everyone in the business" -Isaac Hayes

"Elvis had an influence on everybody with his musical approach. He broke the ice for all of us" -Al Green
"I loved him, that's my buddy, my baby. Elvis is one of the greatest artists that ever lived, and a legend" -Little Richard
"A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music. No man has got music of his own. Music belongs to the universe" -Rufus Thomas

@bwana-ma-coo-bah425: Can I see the article? Fact is (read everything I write): Chuck Berry said about Elvis Presley: "Elvis Presley is the greatest, he was always the greatest and there will never be anyone greater than Elvis Presley"! During Elvis Presley's lifetime and after Elvis died, there are hundreds of beautiful statements from people from the black population. many of them knew Elvis personally. Everyone says that they love Elvis and that he was a wonderful person (read everything). Since the 50s until today 2024 there have been no negative statements about Elvis from the black population. There are also thousands of pages/recordings from the black population on UA-cam and other media that only say good things about Elvis Presley (including very, very, very young people). Why do they write lies? I know you are a Michael Jackson fan. but why are they lying about Elvis?

@@bunnyban5365 I know what you mean! But he "bwana-ma-coo-bah425" is a Michael Jackson fan. 99.9999999% of the time it's Michael Jackson fans who write so badly about Elvis. Michael Jackson has many dark sides. Michael Jackson was always jealous of Elvis Presley.
