It wasn’t scam to the people who live in aisa specially the country like Bangladesh, india, Pakistan. As you guys are the tourist and that’s why they just tried to serve you the best with special one. One more important thing is that the bill was 630 . You didn’t notice the paper that they served you after your dinner. May be they returned you change around 370 taka which you didn’t saw or count. So before traveling somewhere you should know the culture and the hospitality from those countries. Thanks for understanding.
Its Bangladesh some restaurant habit they put extra items on the table if you eat you have to pay if you don't eat they will not charge it money they will return it
The bill was 630 taka, you paid 1000 and they returned you plenty of notes, so 370 taka. If they charged you 890, you would have gotten just one 10 taka note back. Also, as they gave you the daal, you should have used that with the rice to eat the fish and the eggplant items. Do not check your common sense at the door as you travel around the would, and you will get much more out of your experiences. Happy travels.

Remember one thing Bangladesh is not cheap it's expensive country we us Bangladeshi we pay lot to food prices in Bangladesh is the highest among South Asia specifically beef so don't think you're going get cheap stuff most places charge you London and Canada prices
Western Vloggers always says everything is cheap in Asia. This is wrong because it seem cheap when you converted back to your currency like USD, Euro and Pounds because the value of these currency are way higher. But it is not cheap for the locals when they earn in their own currency. And when these videos surfaced in UA-cam, words of cheap food somehow gets to them and they increases their price.
Alan & Shannon, I would like to clarify the bill payment. It seems there might have been a misunderstanding on your part. If you recall, you paid TK. 1000 and received TK. 370 back, meaning the actual bill was TK. 630, as noted on the bill. On another note, I’m hopeful that we can find a way to support the hard-working staff at the restaurant. They earn a minimal income, and any additional help would undoubtedly bring them joy and relief. Given that there aren’t any minimum wage standards in place like you have, even a small gesture, like a TK. 20 tip, could make a meaningful difference. In fact, it would cost you less than 12 cents-something that often goes unaccounted for. Of course, it remains your choice, but I’m optimistic we can create a positive impact together! Best wishes.
Why are there so many voices on the streets of Dhaka that make me feel very upset and have a bad experience. Why are chicken nuggets fried? Unhealthy food. Why force other food on customers? This is not good service. When you were in China last month, I felt that the streets were very quiet and there were electric cars and electric motorcycles everywhere. In terms of urban development, China has far surpassed many countries.
The bill was 630 taka, clearly written over the receipt. You guys could translate the numbers using google translator and paid the right amount. Be Smart When You're Traveling.
Funny to see how you guys ate the smashed fish or fish bhorta and smashed eggplant. It is not actually meant to eat as it is, you were supposed to eat it with rice. In Bangladesh, when we are having lunch or dinner and rice is on the table, we take a little bit and mix it up with rice. Anyway, normally in this sort of restaurant, people give them around 20 to 30 taka tips and these guys are quite used to it. Maybe they mentioned it thinking you might not know about it, but it's up to the customers if they want to tip or not.
Respect for going over there and telling us what it really is like, I can’t stand vloggers who say everything they try and everyone they meet are perfect and amazing. Have to say Bangladesh doesn’t look like most appealing place to visit for me based on their food, traffic, safety, cleanliness etc but enjoying your videos for sure !
Bangladesh's GDP per capita is about one fifth of the world's average. It is one of the poorest countries on Earth. For your personal safety, don't go there if not necessary.
In Britain, the most popular food is indian, and out of 10000 restaurants in the UK 90% are owned by Bangladeshi. Give me a break Scottish Haggis eaters can't compare foods of any country. Listen to this Indian famous journalist: ua-cam.com/video/9DKnkHdsXmo/v-deo.html
The problem is that you don't know how to eat it. That is common dishes people eat there as a lunch or dinner. Everything there has to be eaten with rice, not alone. The fish ball is deep friend and that's why you have to eat it. it's not the Scottish Haggis
Never visit a restaurant which doesn't have a menu card. Customer rights officers in Bangladesh will sue them for this, Having a menu Card in a restaurant is mandatory
Did you see the guy behind you both whilst eating the spinach and daal...he had his hand out at first, then the guy who explained the food seem to scold him because the guy was on your left but body and face was out of camera except his hand and wrist point well wagging his finger up and down in a scolding motion likwe" Dude, no begging or soliciting them for money or defrauding them in any way, f'er." Pause it at 8:04 and look behind your right shoulder.
Guys please don't get scammed by these people in street, don't enter a random restaurant and start eating because someone requestinh you to do it.Make sure your paying the correct bill as well.Thank you for visiting my country ❤
There is generally no tipping culture in most of Asia. Sadly Americans go round tipping left right and centre and therefore some people expect all westerners to flash the money around. You can round up or let them keep some of the change but in general no need to tip.
The tip issue in this country is getting out of hand, everyone usually pays 10 or 20 cents as tips to them since they don't earn much from the salaries, but you can also not tip them if you want
That was actually eggplant mashed with onions, herbs, and spices. The Shawarma is not even a Bangladeshi food which you are comparing with. Sorry to say this but it is the norm here; the waiter gives you a bit extra service expecting some tip in return. But you wouldn't get charged for the extra food they bring in if you don't touch it.
17:25 secend. If you are in asia then you need to know the culture about giving tips to the local restaurant or some hotel stuff. It’s not necessary but it shows how special person you are to them. It’s not that with your tip they will rich soon but it gives them extra vive to their work. Thanks for understanding 😊
@@adamuce yeah I know. That’s why I mentioned as they are tourist and making vedio in everywhere so they should need to know the culture of those countries that they are going to visit.
Ya, if someone asks for tips you just don't give. That's the rule 👍. And also look at 16.46. Your bill is 630 written in Bengali. But he told you it's 830 and you paid 890 right? And then he was asking for tips!

The bill was 630 taka, clearly written over the receipt. You guys could translate the numbers using google translator and paid the right amount. Be Smart When You're Traveling.
No way, thanks bro!
@@Alan_and_Shannon16:47 yes, way. It was written tk.630 in total on the receipt. ৬৩০ is 630. See for yourself.
Take love bro's ❤❤❤🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Awww really, it would have been good if the restaurant staff told us that since they kept bringing the food out
Use Google translate,and ask questions.
there was no street food on the video you misunderstood what street food means
welcome to Beautiful Bangladesh
Never visit a restaurant which doesn't have a menu card. Customer rights officers in Bangladesh will sue them for this, Having a menu Card in a restaurant is mandatory
❤ from Chittagong 🇧🇩 please do come here too! Try Mezbani food 🏆
Hi shannon ❤️ Alan haw are you com home 1 day after & Gazipur city tour..... Welcome to Gazipur my friend ❤️❤️❤️
Did you see the guy behind you both whilst eating the spinach and daal...he had his hand out at first, then the guy who explained the food seem to scold him because the guy was on your left but body and face was out of camera except his hand and wrist point well wagging his finger up and down in a scolding motion likwe" Dude, no begging or soliciting them for money or defrauding them in any way, f'er."
Pause it at 8:04 and look behind your right shoulder.
Lovely people, bringing your guys more food to try. Is this one of a boarder country of China like Vietnam?
♥♥♥🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩♥♥♥👍👍👍Thank You So Much Brother and Sister Welcome to Bangladesh All Friends Come Har Bangladesh ♥♥👈👈👈

What’s your next destination? Hope you will visit Sri Lanka soon 🇱🇰
I wonder who read our comments Alan or shannon

Guys please don't get scammed by these people in street, don't enter a random restaurant and start eating because someone requestinh you to do it.Make sure your paying the correct bill as well.Thank you for visiting my country ❤
There is generally no tipping culture in most of Asia. Sadly Americans go round tipping left right and centre and therefore some people expect all westerners to flash the money around. You can round up or let them keep some of the change but in general no need to tip.
Thank you for letting us know!
Well people tip but on occasions.. Mainly in ceremonies where the get a hefty food and then tip the waiter
Love from Bangladesh
all i can after seeing this video is that in the restaurant they didn't scamed u guys and not charge u extra but asking for tip it was creepy
Yes it’s not the approach
Bro visit some posh areas man, All the foreign vloger just want to vlog slums 😢
We’re trying some local food, this isn’t a slum..
Visit posh areas like Banani uttara gulshan for fck sake
@@silpafrude1494 WTF dude mind your fking language!
@@shehranwahid6056 bad upbringing. we cannot do anything about that
@@ahnafsayem4991 exactly bro
The tip issue in this country is getting out of hand, everyone usually pays 10 or 20 cents as tips to them since they don't earn much from the salaries, but you can also not tip them if you want
Hey Alan , come over here in Barishal city, you guys are verily invited to my place,
That was actually eggplant mashed with onions, herbs, and spices.
These guys are Scottish and they come from a culture and society which is not into giving tips
@@adamuce yeah I know. That’s why I mentioned as they are tourist and making vedio in everywhere so they should need to know the culture of those countries that they are going to visit.
@@xadikulgamerisback4887 yes but I was explaining what goes in their society
Good on Shannon for standing up for herself at the end, a tough lady. 💪💪
She sure is💪🏼
Wrong way of having smashed fish ball lol I guess you can use Korean Bhai has guide how to eat stuff
Ya, if someone asks for tips you just don't give. That's the rule 👍. And also look at 16.46. Your bill is 630 written in Bengali. But he told you it's 830 and you paid 890 right? And then he was asking for tips!
im from scotland too and i love Bangladesh
it is not pure street food, u should try some roadside stall food.
You tried the foods in restaurant made for take with rice. You have to try these food with rice, then you will get the actual test my friend.
Thanks for the tips, the staff at the restaurant did not explain this too us
Welcome to Bangladesh Hello come you must be fine Bangladesh has many beautiful places to see you can visit Cox's Bazar Sylhet these places.
that mashed fish is required to eat with rice
Their salary isn't enough so we happily give them some tips , don't take it otherwise.
You should visit Karnaphuli tunnel that's first in South Asia. St. Martin, Bandarban also
