    Having been stationed at Langley, AFB the last 4 years until I retired in 1995 I remember the traffic on I-64 very well. I also remember many beautiful drives on the BRP and Skyline Drive. I'm thinking about trying some camping from my Spyder in the future out west closer to where we live in the Phoenix area. Keep your adventures coming :-)

    I use to drive tractor trailer and come from NJ down to Rte 13 in DE to Bay bridge & Tunnel to VA Beach. After a stop in VA Beach, I always hated my trip to Charlottesville, because of Rte 64! Just awful, and I have family in Norfolk that I never see because of all the damn traffic in that area. Camping for my wife and I, and the Spyder RT Limited is HIE, BW etc! LOL

      We have the 2014 SE6 with a 7.5 gal tank. Its only an issue when traveling through remote areas. We stop every 1 and 1/2 hours anyway, so if we had a 5 gal tank, that would not be an issue.

    Almost right after you talked about keeping a "nice neat tidy campground" because you're in bear country, your very next shot and comment is how your camping stuff gets scattered everywhere which drives you crazy. I earned a long time ago that neat and tidy campsites may be the stretch goal, but accepting a level of organized chaos is the normal result, where at least I know where everything is, kind of like my desk at work.
    I'm a couple years away from retirement, but I'm also getting a few things checked off on my retirement bucket list. I bought a Mini Mate camoer this year, upgraded from to a fridge from a cooler (looks like a cooler though), upgraded to a 5 lb propane tank from the environmentally unfriendly 1 lb disposable propane bottles, fridge and propane tank are now mounted to the camper tongue. Acquired a lithium ion power station and a fold up solar pane to charge it, to begin practising how to camp off grid where there will be campsites without services. My retirement bucket list includes travelling to the 4 corners of N. America (not all at once, 4 seperate trips).
    This week I unexpectedly checked off another item on my bucket list, I got to meet and ride with Coach Bob and Coach Vic, that was an absolute blast and wonderful day.
    Come this November, I'll reach the age where I can purchase a lifetime National Park Pass, for the cost of a normal 1 yr pass, and I have this as an appointment reminder in my phone so I don't forget about it.
    Meeting you and Miriam are also on my bucket list. I can't tell you how much I enjoy and appreciate the content you put out, but I am so thankful for folks like you, who brighten up the day for folks like me, and I keep finding more folks like you. Just recently found Purple on Three channel, another couple who make me laugh and are fun to watch.

      @miriambryant1896 3 роки тому +1

      Thanks, Wayne. Always good to hear from you. You are on our list too! ;). We don’t refer to it as a bucket list any longer as one of our Australian viewers pointed out that it sounds like we will “pop our clogs” after completing it. He had a point there. Prefer to try to cram as many moments of joy into each day as possible. Meeting you would be one of those moments!

    John... nice ride - thanks for sharing.. My question is related to your CanAm GPS. I have the same on my 2013 RT and find it is barely readable in any light at all. Is yours also unreadable in daylight? I think I will just put a mobile phone holder in its place. Again - thanks.. Hope to meet you somewhere along the way.

      You may want to play with the settings. I found the same issue on my phone in the sunlight and had no idea I could control this.. Only direct sunlight from over my shoulder is an issue with my GPS, about 5% of the time.

    • @JohnMiriamsTravelVlog
      @JohnMiriamsTravelVlog  2 роки тому

      That is easy James. Revzilla.com is a good company, been ordering stuff from them for years. Also Amazon. In reality few retail shops have much inventory. We just ordered new helmets, and check sizing at a local shop, but they did not have the color we wanted, so it was mail order time. For Spyder parts, we use BRP.com for most stock parts. Take care.

    Is that a wrist watch or a dedicated motorcycle clock on the left hand bar?What brand trailer do you have ? What gear have you chosen any regrets?

    • @JohnMiriamsTravelVlog
      @JohnMiriamsTravelVlog  2 роки тому +1

      And that sir is a video series. Its a small watch. The spyder has a clock, but its small and its digital. I am old school, I like analog. We have the Can Am Freedom Trailer, works great, 20 CFT of storage. As to gear, its a constantly evolving list of stuff. Planning a video on this with our current gear selection as we move towards our 60 day ride in the spring.

      @@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog thanks for getting back so promptly , love your videos, first learned about your blog searching for information on changing the oil on my 17 Spyder after getting blind sided with a $450.00 oil change bill from Seminole Powersports! Wasn’t expecting that! I do my own from now on ! We have a 2017 Spyder RT, I hate to admit how much I have come to love it! I went kicking and protesting the whole way to purchase but friends of ours convinced my wife how much more comfortable it was over my VTX, I have to admit we have come to really enjoy it and are making longer trips .
