Funniest part is that turbo diesel is far from a petrol engine with turbo AND BOV. The BOV is what makes the whistle but in diesels usually there's nothing making it whistle, the turbo itself practically screams cause of RPM.

The loudest turbos that I have ever heard were on locomotives with the EMD 645 prime mover, specifically the SD40-2 locomotive.
