I can imagine this guy being an amazing high school science teacher! I’d sit through his class with full attention! I don’t have even a single tattoo and not even that into it but got here with some weird twist of the UA-cam algo but enjoyed this session. Kudos man!
I feel like Bang Bang must have physicians in his family, because he explains things so intelligently and so EFFECTIVELY that it reminds me of the best family doctors I've met. People who can give you all the information you need in the fewest sentences. And he uses medical vocabulary so fluently. Ahhhh! I
@Madilyn Ruby I hear you, but at the same time, he explains things so much better than other tattoo artists. Even really good ones. It's a whole other skill.
@@solitaryflower The same goes for physicians. I've met plenty that cannot explain anything to save themselves. It's something called "the curse of knowledge". Experts in a field so adept they can't relate to the novice, and thus make extremely poor educators because they get frustrated with the lack of knowledge others have. On the other hand, you have people who read something 5 hours in advance and will deliver it in a perfect way so that it sticks with others. And sometimes, you have experts that manage to retain that empathy and understanding of the unlearned. Those people are gems.
When he talked about tattoos migrating with weight gain, it reminded me of a woman I saw on tv who had breast reconstruction following a mastectomy. The best tissue and skin for her type of reconstruction had a tattoo on it. So her new breast had a tattoo on it! I’m sure there were other options discussed but she went with that option as it would get the best result for her
Ah yes, Bang Bang. The youngest out of his brothers Oo Ee, Oo ah ah, ting tang and wala wala. So acording to my calculations I have been getting 1K likes per month on average on this comment. That's cool I guess
As someone with finger tattoos. They’re incredibly painful, because it basically tattooing your bones. Not to mention your hands are constantly being used, constantly shedding more than any other part of your body. It will look good for a couple months but it won’t stick by the 6-8th month. You’ll have to get them redone on the regular. It really isn’t worth the money and pain
@michelle_51 how long have you had it? Every tattoo artist I asked just tried to talk me out of it. They said they will do one touch up for free but that's it. Coz parts of it fade and disappear so if you don't get it touched up regularly it just looks a mess. But I see people with cool finger tattoos so I dunno. I still want one.
I was raised in a Catholic Asian family so they are very much against tattoos, but it was very cool to see a taste of the expertise and technique that goes into doing tattoos!
I’m being raised in a Christian family and they are suuuuuper against tattoos. I’m still getting one when I move out because they can’t control me if I’m in a different state
I love how softly and kindly he handled the question about tattoos on people of colour. It was really sweet and made me feel so much better. Kuddos to this guys
I'm never getting a tattoo, and I don't usually find them apealing in other people, but I have a lot of respect for that dude, for just being so chill and proffecional about it all.
Fun fact: There is no such thing as a perfect circle. Edit: As an 8th grader I have limited knowledge on why that is. For an explanation that’s most likely more accurate please read Murtaza64’s comment below.
The reason there's no such thing as a perfect circle is not mathematical but physical. The irrationality of pi has no bearing on the mathematical perfect circle, but imperfections in the physical world make a perfect circle as impossible as a straight line (meaning it won't be "perfect" in the same sense as the abstract mathematical idea of a circle)
Why does he look like a complete different person when he’s demonstrating something compared to answering questions? Lol Edit: didn’t expect this to get much likes, he’s hot when he’s answering questions & he’s cute when he’s demonstrating tattoos, but either way he’s both, I guess time, weight & beard may have contributed to it. He’s a total cool.
I loved watching this and learning but heres the real question: What happens if you make a mistake? What if your circle isn't right, and the client notices it and brings it to your attention??
it’s really important to quadruple check the stencil (no idea abt freehand) before your artist tattoos you. if the stencil looks wonky your tattoo will most likely be wonky. regarding circles, if it’s already inked on you really can’t do anything about it except rework it, black it out, laser, or just take the L. stray lines may be easier to fix bc you can always add other elements, but then again an experienced, quality artist won’t have that happen a lot if at all
Nope. It was just to that guy. And he has been waiting with bated breath. I like to think of it like the very late Amtrak tweet reply of “are you still stuck in the elevator?”
i really love how he went “dont feel that way, but im sorry it does come off that way” at 15:30 when he talks about how its difficult to tell the ethnicity of someone based on the tone of the arm. he didnt brush it off and make it seem like the tweet is wrong or tht tattoo artists are god almighty people who arent racist. he just had great wording and seems like a genuinely great guy!
I do not agree. It's exactly how white people always excuse racism. Deflecting, saying "sorry, you feel bad" instead of actually assuming responsibility for it. Great if he doesn't discriminate in his shop, but to pretend there isn't a problem in his field especially, is really just gaslighting. No matter if he meant it as such or not.
I got my first tattoo on my wrist ( it’s a bee) and I remember being so nervous to ask the tattoo artist if I should change which wrist I got it on because I didn’t know if he wanted to deal with the scars on my wrist but he was really nice and said it’s your choice so I picked the scared wrist and he covered up the scars very nicely
I once asked my tattoo artist to cover up some scars on my arm, I was really nervous because I didn't know if he would be weird about it or judgemental or anything... He was just lovely about it though and I was so happy with the result.
The way this man talks about his craft is amazing. I have several tattoos and have always had respect for artists. But the way he answers questions, has references & specific examples is evidence of his passion and it shows!
I love that you not only answer these questions, but you also visually demonstrate. I think this is my favorite Wired interview to date. You are the true definition of an artist!
dude tattooing is so sick. like i got my first tattoo a few months back and i’ve been so obsessed w/ tattoos for a few years now. it truly is an underrated art and a misunderstood one at that. and the people with tattoos usually are some of the chillest, nicest people i know. major appreciation for this video!
The guy I went to for my tattoo said that he often refuses to do face or hand tattoos on young people because he knows how much it can impact being able to get employed. He said he'll do it no problem for someone more established in their lives because the chances of it causing problems at that point are much less
Jess_Marie_G you only have to wait a year to donate again. But I donated blood before a year. I got it done by a precessional and I knew it was a fresh needle and I didn’t get a disease. Besides they test all the blood anyways
actually it depends on the state you get the tattoo, states where its heavily regulated you don't have to wait the 12months to donate And according to the red cross Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. Currently, the only states that DO NOT regulate tattoo facilities are: District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wyoming. If you get it in a state that regulates tattoos in a lisc facility with sterilized needs and one time use ink cartridges you don't have to wait if you get a tattoo!

Tristan Mitchell well might not be true my tattoo artist is kinda dark toned and I wouldn’t let anybody else tattoo me he’s just too good

He's like a cute and chubbier version of Chris Evans, also it's good to see a tattoo artist this friendly, and very professional.. good to know
@johan alejandro yep

Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave
I feel like Bang Bang must have physicians in his family, because he explains things so intelligently and so EFFECTIVELY that it reminds me of the best family doctors I've met. People who can give you all the information you need in the fewest sentences. And he uses medical vocabulary so fluently. Ahhhh! I
@Madilyn Ruby I hear you, but at the same time, he explains things so much better than other tattoo artists. Even really good ones. It's a whole other skill.
Maybe he's just well educated or has talent?
@@deeroberts8090 oh sure he is, but loads of educated and even talented people don't have that touch of being able to express it well. You know that.
I’m sure there were other options discussed but she went with that option as it would get the best result for her

him: “it’s hard to tattoo on fingers”
me, who’s only tattoo they want is a small heart on their finger: “...oh”
I don't think a small heart would be a problem. If you really want it, then go for it.
@@archisha1011 no it would be, esp on the finger. small tattoos warp and fade over time and it won’t look as nice
its just more difficult, it's still very possible and if you want that you should do it.

Get one..do it..I dare you
Do get one. I was raised in a similar way and one cousin took all the heat so that the rest of us could get tattoos without being shamed.

As an artist this makes me feel slightly better. Thank you.
And that every atom is a face. So it has multiple faces
@@murtaza6464 of course you could never possibly make a perfect circle but he’s talking in theory

Did you just express what you like about him
@@nokysfettuccine6956 Yeah, anything not likeable?
I loved watching this and learning but heres the real question: What happens if you make a mistake? What if your circle isn't right, and the client notices it and brings it to your attention??
it’s really important to quadruple check the stencil (no idea abt freehand) before your artist tattoos you. if the stencil looks wonky your tattoo will most likely be wonky. regarding circles, if it’s already inked on you really can’t do anything about it except rework it, black it out, laser, or just take the L. stray lines may be easier to fix bc you can always add other elements, but then again an experienced, quality artist won’t have that happen a lot if at all
August 2018 - Help! I need to wrap a fresh tattoo and my saniderm fell off.

Here’s what you can do.
Almost like he’s addressing people who may have the same question and not only that one person individually 🤔
Nope. It was just to that guy. And he has been waiting with bated breath. I like to think of it like the very late Amtrak tweet reply of “are you still stuck in the elevator?”
Uncle Creepy 😂 it is funny imagining them frantically clicking refresh for 9 months
I love how hes very informative and respectful never mean with his answers
i really love how he went “dont feel that way, but im sorry it does come off that way” at 15:30 when he talks about how its difficult to tell the ethnicity of someone based on the tone of the arm. he didnt brush it off and make it seem like the tweet is wrong or tht tattoo artists are god almighty people who arent racist. he just had great wording and seems like a genuinely great guy!
Did the scars have to be a certain age or did the artist not mind?
@@Kier4n99 im pretty sure he didnt mind doing it since he covered it up pretty well.
You are the true definition of an artist!
dude tattooing is so sick. like i got my first tattoo a few months back and i’ve been so obsessed w/ tattoos for a few years now. it truly is an underrated art and a misunderstood one at that. and the people with tattoos usually are some of the chillest, nicest people i know. major appreciation for this video!
smilejocelyn Most people don’t like them because they’re permanent. They will never come off.
ItalianSausage 69 yeah i get that, but it makes no sense not to like them on someone else because of that reason.
The guy I went to for my tattoo said that he often refuses to do face or hand tattoos on young people because he knows how much it can impact being able to get employed. He said he'll do it no problem for someone more established in their lives because the chances of it causing problems at that point are much less
That man is a wise one and I'm glad he has no shame in refusing to do those.
Neck tattoos should be included
And that’s the tattoo artist right to choose what they don’t want to tattoo on somebody’s body

I like the way he explains things. I'm a regular blood donor, so I've never wanted to get inked, but I'm fascinated by the artistry.
Jess_Marie_G you only have to wait a year to donate again. But I donated blood before a year. I got it done by a precessional and I knew it was a fresh needle and I didn’t get a disease. Besides they test all the blood anyways
actually it depends on the state you get the tattoo, states where its heavily regulated you don't have to wait the 12months to donate
And according to the red cross Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities.
