1050 or 1053 belt (2006 a3 1.9tdi 8p) as lots of online car parts suppliers come up with 1050 as spec with some others 1053. Would a 1050 put too much of a strain on the tensioner and bearings if the existing belt is a 1053?
Yes mate definitely! Thanks for watching Please Subscribe too if you haven't already! Also check out my other channel, it will be much appreciated! ua-cam.com/channels/7U9PScNON48nfhDAIgqVPg.html TW
if a drive belt is not there, a number of things would not happen... the air condition pump would not get spun, the alternator would not spin meaning a new battery everyday because it wouldn't be getting charged whilst engine is running... and maybe more deepening on what car it is....
drive belt only spins the alternator and air con compressor normally..the timing belt is a more serious belt which controls the timing of the engine valves etc...
Thanks Tom- 4 years on and it's still helping people!
Very much appreciated.
Glad to have helped!

Thanks for this video it was simples....😉
I don't see the gap/space at the bottom that you mentioned, in order to inspect the lower pulley. Did you have to take off under tray?
Looks easy but took me about 35 min of trying to get the new belt on. I’m glad my forearms aren’t too big.
Looks easy, but does take practice
Yes mate definitely!

I’m about to buy a A3 1.6 FSI 102 HP. Is it a timing belt or chain?
Yo my tensioner don't sit straight on the belt???... any ideas most likely tensioner needs replacing its least 2 to 3 ml off

Whats the difference between the drive belt and timing belt? I have a 2014 SQ5 with a supercharger
drive belt only spins the alternator and air con compressor normally..the timing belt is a more serious belt which controls the timing of the engine valves etc...
TW Randomz Thanks mate. So is the timing belt the same as a the supercharger belt Thanks.
U helped me alot but had the wrong part😑
you show as just a picture! not the procedure! you have the video allready - why not film that? Hope you do better job next time.
Not mechanic so will share my experiences and never a DIY as I wouldn’t want to be responsible for someone getting hurt or breaking their car…
@@TimWilliamsHD we all just wanna see how you did it. Even the bad video helps more than pictures ;-)
