    You legend, my fan motor died completely filling the car with a burning smell. Thanks to your vid I got a second hand one on eBay AUD$300 and just Installed and it’s working like a dream again. My bmw mechanic was gonna be between $1,300 and $2,000 for a new one, so big savings here, thanks man!

    Just replaced the fan on my 2014 535d. This video was really helpful. I had lots of leaves too, but my screen was intact. I dropped a couple of screws. Fishing them out is a real PITA. Fortunately my new BMW blower works perfectly. It's going to be 95 here the next three days so I'm really happy that my AC will work properly. I had the same issue. It would come on, run for a bit then stop even though the controls on the dash were calling for it to run. It happened once about a year ago, but lately hit and miss.

    My F12 shares a similar basic structure in the corner there and the motor started making some noise a few months ago. I'll be doing this same job in the near future. Very helpful, thanks!

    Great video! I'm doing this exact job right now on my 2014 535i, and just took the upper pieces off about 30 mins ago. I'm not going to do a how-to on this since yours is so well done. Thanks so much for walking through, and glad to hear it worked out. I'll definitely be a new subscriber, and I am very interested to hear if the blower has been working properly after a couple of months now!

    That was a very informative video, thank you very much indeed! Replaced the u/s blower motor on 2014 525d F11 which packed up on me whilst on a driving holiday through Europe and a heatwave in residence! It is nice to have the windows down but makes conversation a tad difficult hurtling down the autobahn; Took me 2hrs to replace, going systematically through the video and taking my time at all stages. Lost one plastic screw on the dust cover but saved a fortune. Thanks Krowicki!!

  • @bman2827

    Thanks for the video. My blower has just stopped working at the hottest time of the year of course! I took it out and found a spring wedged in the fan blades and a piece of plastic snapped off at the top of the motor. I've ordered a new Mahle motor, hopefully that fixes it. It's worth noting that this job is much easier on right-hand drive models because all the wiring on top is on the other side of the car so I didn't even disconnect the battery to tell the truth. I had it out in about 15 mins and the hardest part was finding a tool to fit under the ledge below the windscreen to remove the screw at the back! Amazingly the filter was still intact on my 10 year old car!

      I need to do the same thing on mine, also RHD. Is everything still on "our" driver side or is it on the passenger side ? So the opposite side to this video if you get me. Parts are in the post, I can't even drive the car after I leave the gym in the morning cause it just fogs up and I can't clear it without the AC !

    • @bman2827
      @bman2827 Місяць тому

      @ On RHD cars the blower is on the passenger side, at least it was on my F11, but you don’t have all the other wires above it so it’s much more straight forward. It’ll help a lot if you have a mini ratcheting wrench/screwdriver that takes hex screwdriver bits because one of the screws is under the metalwork with very tight access. I got a craftsman one off amazon and I’ve used it loads on other stuff since, very handy! Just to update since my comment, I replaced the blower fine and it’s so powerful now it moves my hair!

    Another example of the FACT that OEM does Not always mean "quality". An AutoZone part beats a German-made MAHLE OEM part, LOL. I've had a Chinese water pump running for 8 years in my E39 which I paid like $32 for it. Quality is about SELECTION, what you CHOOSE or how you CHOOSE the parts that you buy. Don't just choose by NAME or BRAND, as you're NOT buying a "NAME", you're a PRODUCT ! yes I know it is HARDER to make an informed choice by looking at features, but you must choose based on FEATURES and CHARACTERISTICS of the item you are buying, be it a TV, a mobile phone, a suit you're wearing, or even a blower motor for an F10. Great video man, keep it up :) :)

    Hi. I couldn't get mine out. The green rubber hose visible in 0:49 is attached to the motor housing, and I couldn't figure out how to release it so I had to put it back and close everything back up without finishing the repair. Any suggestions? You didn't mention it at all and it looks like yours was already disconnected when you removed the motor housing. I tried just pulling on it, but it was definitely attached somehow and would've ripped clean off.

    After replacing the blower motor resistor, my blower motor was still not working. I ended up replacing the blower motor and the outer housing with the filter material and conveyed the new resistor to the new motor, out of caution. I also replaced the hood cowl that was cracking. When I installed the new blower, I lifted up on the cowl to access one of the rear screws and the cowl no longer sealed, allowing water to pass into the engine compartment. Blower works great! Unfortunately, ac isn’t cold.

      well with no air to blow the ac won’t be cooling the car. i remember last summer when I had this issue, it would work for 10 seconds and then not work for a few mins. So all of the sudden the AC kicked in and cooled me for 10 seconds and then it disappeared and it was hot again.
