Just because you have a dispatcher it dosent guarantee you will get the best rates. Also, dispatchers with multiple trucks aren’t going to be finding partials and possible loads that can fit on your transit. The best dispatcher of your company is yourself, NO ONE will work as hard as you for your company! It’s like paying someone to be your boss. Or pay someone to supervise you.
Period. My experience we do in house dispatching. The issue is we all on the same load board ( we can’t control the load board period). That’s it my opinion. Finding a lane is the goal but even with that it’s not guaranteed so get in get out. Save save save
Knock it off dispatchers, the right ones can be the backbone of a carrier, some of the truckers talk bad to us, you guys acts like the nasty freight brokers who try to rob you guys, we are all here in our own way to help each other, stop being so disgruntle, because we bust our behinds to advocate for carriers/owner operators
This guy is giving some good game and very professional and honest with the way he responded to each question appreciate the information in this video bigvic.
Important video here! I’m at 105 days in my authority and I self dispatch. It’s certainly a huge task at times finding good loads with shippers that work with new authorities, and definitely making sure you’re in a good market when and before getting empty. I try to do a lot of market research before I start running but still can’t avoid some of the same issues they discussed.
6:43-6:70 Vick its 10 hours reset for everyone after 14 hours of service 11 drive hours 30 min break after 8 hours this is for all drivers box trucks and semis alike.
I could have sworn that sleeper birth was 8 hours vs 10 hours without a sleeper for semis. I know the rest for sure. This confused me when I first started. Thanks for tapping in. 💯
@BiggVic I keep hearing bad things about going into Florida, especially jacksonville .... I live in jacksonville... so are yall saying I'm dead before I even start??
so much respect for you vic, if i were you, id just be like "yup, trucking is dead, dont even think about it" then just enjoy the rate hikes my youtube reach could possibly get. NOPE - vic too real for that
In my experience I have yet to see a dispatcher, who fills my truck up and keep me rolling. They have way too many drivers and people bidding on loads taking the cheapest bid to move freight.
I have a question…how do you meet good brokers? U just go on the load board make some phone calls and emails, or you ask around and ask people if anybody knows brokers?
Whats up Vic! question, what if your box truck DOES have a sleeper. Is the reset still 10hr? Also what if your TEAM driving. Can one driver drive while the other is resetting? In May i have the greenlight for 4 drivers to go OTR ,And was just wondering how you felt about Team driving
Good to be diversified in the type of freight you haul. Hazmat, refer, etc. Get your TWIC card & Pass Port. You just never know what a good paying load may be. Always cast a wide net💰💰💰
Greetings, I fellows all your posts and find it interesting. I am interested in starting my own box truck. Please can you be able to coach and put me through plz 🙏

@@El.Papi.Gordo_ some people have no issues with Florida. I don’t particularly care for it other than traveling or a getaway. Going into Florida has to pay well that’s for sure. Anything is possible. ✌🏾
@BiggVic thanks for the quick response bro i really appreciate that.... I see a million truck companies and trucks on the road in jacksonville so I was shocked to hear all of the bad thoughts on this area when it comes to trucking... This is my last question today I promise... Do you think if you are based out of Florida it is a better situation when dealing with loads coming in and out of this area simply because we are already here?
Is it considered a best practice to provide an estimated time of arrival (ETA) that exceeds the actual ETA? Ex: Driver is 30 minutes from the drop and you report 45 - 1 hr from the drop to allow for traffic or other unexpected events that can happen. Thanks for this interview. I’m just starting as a dispatcher and really appreciate this conversation.
Hello John, my company RoadEx offers equipment financing among other services. What is the best way to contact you and discuss a few key things about the financing side?
No semis are beholden to the same HOS as box trucks there is no difference. Even on the 7 3 split your still at 10 hours. That statement is concerning and must be adressed.
Exactly. I caught that, too. I've done both sides of the industry. Semi and now my boxtruck business, and you're required to do a 10-hour reset, regardless.
@user-jfien8rj40xl2 okay thank you ,ya I wasn’t too convinced , insurance is too high. Dooley payments are too high ,trailer payment is high. The math wasn’t math for me
Well since every single item imaginable moves by truck trucking we’ll never be dead, might not be about to make a b lot of money trucking due to cheap labor running your loads and brokers with dispatchers grabbing another 15-25% and current fuel. Makes it undesirable at best but will always need trucks.

Don’t be discouraged
Do you need your own DOT/ MC # to get loads on DAT load board?
As a dispatcher?
Most dispatchers use a carriers MC# to access loads. That I know of.
I dispatch I make sure I get the best rates

We are 8 months in OTR and still no inspections
I didn't get pulled for inspection until 3 years in.
@@BiggVic we actually just got a level 3 driver inspection and it showed up on record. Like you said, anything helps!

Last question brotha what year does your truck need to be to work with Amazon relay or any company with a dispatcher
There is no truck age requirement with Amazon Relay.

How important is it to get a box truck with a lift? Or can you find good loads that don’t require one?
Look at a lift gate as more money. It’s important. Yes you can find loads that don’t require one, but why start without one.
Big vicc, can you hook me up with some insurance Info, progressive is insanely high here in Colorado
