📌 More info on the Libron:
The Libron, a meeting at Laurens of two streams - the Naubine and the Sauvanes - runs along the coast for about forty kilometers.
From Laurens, the river crosses the plain and the vineyards of Languedoc before flowing into the Mediterranean at Vias Plage along an artificial bed dug in the XVIIIth century. (A bit to the west, the former bed of the Libron ends in a natural grau, or channel, linking the saltwater ponds to the sea).
The Libron has a regime resembling that of a wadi, its bed remaining dry for much of the year, but susceptible to violent flooding under storms (mostly in August and in the autumn).
Even at the time the Canal du Midi was built, crossing the Libron was a problem; today the construction of an aqueduct still remains impossible because of the low land level (1 to 3 meters above sea
level).
The present waterworks: the Libron's mobile aqueducts
The principle of the mobile pontoon was revised.
Mechanism: before meeting up with the Canal du Midi, the Libron is forked into two parallel masonry conduits, perpendicular to the canal du Midi. Each block of masonry (each, block arched corridors.
Inside each corridor, there are two metal flat-bottomed coffers with gutter-shaped sidewalls which can join at the center of the canal to form an artificial bed for the waters of the Libron.
These coffers (or cisterns) are suspended from movable carts on rails, on the waterworks platform. Normally, the coffers are pulled to the side to allow freedom of circulation on the canal. At flood times, they are maneuvered toward each other to join and completely close the canal. Then the sluice gates (closed at other times) are opened and the Libron flows across the waterworks.
Navigation on the canal is interrupted during flood time.

What ! Not even a single Mustang ? Shocking !
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
But they are there. There is the Mustang Club De France.
It's always a good day when Marie uploads a new video.
Beautiful imagery! It's nice that you are getting to be with family you haven't seen in awhile.
Thank you for showing me your beautiful country. Some of my family's ancestors come from France. What a beautiful place to come from! Love from your American "cousins"! 🥰
I went on a trip for my language class in high school and France was part of it. I've always wanted to go back and see it again, appreciate it more now that i'm older.
Operation Dragoon! E-bikes! Parade. And a market. The canal aqueducts=amazing. (Aug. 1944, St. Tropez., 3rd Division, 7th Regiment.). Thank you.
Charming area. I can see why it has become popular with retirees.
the vaulted stone ceiling in the cathedral was amazing architecturally. One thing I really miss about living in France is the open air markets.
I bet this area is even more beautiful during the summertime. Thank you for sharing this experience with us! 🍷🌞 🇫🇷
This is so relaxing even the ducks are just lolling around! Beautiful area of France. Bonjour!
Yes, thank you for the visit.
Looks very beautiful and peaceful. Riding your bike seems like the best way to get around. 😃
I visited Marseille in the early 90's. The Mediterranean coast is beautiful. The architecture is stunning as well.
I liked this video very much. France is the #1 tourist destination.
UK is #1.
@@1972Ray Paris has 80 million tourist per year.
It bums me out to see your france based videos dont get as much love. Im an american of french ancestry and love videos about france. Moms maiden name is lamoreaux and my dads last name is lyons. Its cool to learn more about france.
NICE video in Southern FRANCE ( Memorial is interesting).Thank you.😀😀
One of my favorite regions in France is the southwest coast on the Atlantic Ocean. Biarritz and Bayonne are particular favorites.
Wow, the views are amazing there! Much love to you from Minnesota Marie! ❤
Very nice. Americans tend to think of France as a single place, like one big Paris. But of course there's much variety to the country. I'd love to see more travels inside France.
Very cool. Thank you, Ms. Marie.
Beautiful scenery. Thanks for showing me a part of France I've never been in. Glad you had a chance to see some relatives.🦜🦜
That place is absolutely beautiful. And I agree that is the perfect place for a memorial. Gorgeous view.😊
Very nice to see a bit of France! 🇫🇷
Great job Marie! Thanks for sharing this.
This is great but I didn't see a single Mustang. This reminds me of the scenery from To Catch a Thief. Wonderful weather and wonderful vistas.
Nice that your out in your natural environment..🗽😓
What blows my mind is that for much of my life I've heard of "the south of France" in a context that it was very warm like Florida, yet turns out it's about as far north of the Equator as Detroit and southern Michigan, but still considered to have "Mediterranean climate" and has palm trees! Yeah, uhh...the American flag outside a pizza place in France seemed odd. Maybe the owners are originally from the US? Love fresh/farmer's markets! Looks like a lot of fun things and I'm hoping you are doing very well and having a lovely time. Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed
Very nice. Thank you.
Wow, Wikipedia had extensive articles on the Canal du Midi and its locks. There is much history, including the key role of French women from the Pyrenees who helped design the hydraulics in the 1600s.
Thanks Marie! Looks beautiful
❤❤❤ "Speaking of Tarantulas," I loved Mustangs growing up. My favorite slot car was one. One of the two model cars I built was one. One of three hot wheels I have is a 'stang. Two of my friends' first cars were ponies. But alas, I never got one of my own. And while I appreciate the old originals I think if I was to get one today, it would be a new one. You get the name, you get the feeling, you get the power and you get something the ancients couldn't get. Gas Mileage. Something to think about, Marie. That's another curly W.
Hi 👋😊 Miss Marie !!!! Thank you for taking us on An Explanation of your Magnificent Home ( France ) As always the like button ✅ has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🇺🇲🌎🎙️🎧🎥💯🌞☀️🔆🏝️
Looks like a very nice area of France! Thanks for bringing us😊
I was in the grocery check out line the other day and a lady in front of me had a French accent. I asked where she was from and she said Saint-Tropez. She winters here in Florida and goes back to the Riviera for summer.
I adored this Southern France video Marie, and will be sending you my comments soon 🤗😊😇!!
Terrific video! Looks like a charming place. Must be wonderful in the summer months! 🐺 :0)
I like your videos of France. Here is a like and comment to help your channel grow, to appease the great and powerful UA-cam algorithm demon, and get you the recognition you deserve.
😂😂😂 Thank you for sharing your adventures in the south of France😊.
Marie, I'm glad you mentioned what time of year it was. I was wondering why you were wearing a vest in May. 🤣 Now that I know this was filmed in February, that makes sense! It's good that you got to spend time with your relatives and that they live in such an awesome place along the coast. I never would have expected palm trees and cacti there in France. I always thought it would be too cold. The carnival was certainly interesting to see. All sorts of different groups walking through. Did you have a favorite? I will admit that the crepes looked AMAZING in your video as well. Thank you for bringing us along on this adventure. Take care and keep smiling!
The drummer band probably 😎
Salut Marie , passer un bon weekend 😊 🏖️ 🎡
It's good seeing you back in the mediterranean sun among the sandy beaches ( so unique) & gorgeous views , that's why it's the black Pearl. I hope the natural beauty of the place isn't getting to spoiled by tourist - housing.
A fine standing memorial to the sacrifice of brothers in arms between our nations , it couldn't be in a more heavenly spot. 🎺 🙏
It's always cool to stroll along the marina ⛵ wishing your get lucky , make a friend & be invited on board. Yummy 🍨 I'm guessing it's apricot. Up on the Mont , the views are marvellous , you really can see everything & wot a cute 🐕
St Etienne ⛪ certainly built to stand the test of time in all weathers made from volvic stone. You don't often see 🖼️ up on stone walls , the altar is splendid & I wonder if you can get permission to sit by & watch how the grand organs are played. The cathedral has five 🔔 with one in the bell tower for chiming the clock.
Embracing you'll sense of adventure 🚴 around the beautiful countryside 🌾🏵️ I'm sure the doggie was sniffing away & having fun too. The Aquiducts were impressive , they must have been cutting edge at the time , I'm interested to find out more ( thanks for the link)
There's nothing like the fresh aroma from a open market 🍋🍅🥬 so much more healthy than the processed stuff ,they sure had a lot of moules & 🦪 fish.
The Carnival 🎉💃🐴 was wild with those costumes , a mix mash of everything even some vikings thrown in , ha ha the horsey bikes , the guys with the drums were sticking to the traditions.
I can see why it's become such a popular resort , there's something interesting for everyone , I also found out what it's infamous for , I'm no prude but I'm glad you kept away from there & didn't receive a channel strike. For anyone wanting to take a holiday there , the pirate world campsite looks like it's value for money.
It's been wonderful , the music was lovely Merci Marie , your family are blessed & so are we to have You 🤗 ❣️✌️
Brilliant Marie💥💥💥 cheers from Mississippi ✌️✌️🇫🇷🇺🇸
Marie before visit the southern US, you have to do a reaction video to the iconic movie, Fried Green Tomatoes. Its soooo good! i promise you will love it!
Beautiful views! I always enjoy seeing the streets of European cities, and that fortress church was especially interesting to see. I'm also eyeing that plate of ice cream. 👀😋
Love it!
The "Parade" in town reminded me of "The People of Wallmart".
Nice video Marie. Very pretty place.
So much beauty and culture. I've always thought America should put a monument to the French soldiers at Yorktown. The battlement they stormed is still there.
The Victory Monument at the Yorktown battlefield site does, quoting for the National Park Service site: "The Victory Monument stands as a fitting symbol to the French and American victory at Yorktown on October 19, 1781 - a victory that resulted in American Independence." and of course this battle included both French army troops and the French Navy which sealed off the British ability to retreat or be resupplied, aka The Battle Of The Chesapeake
It looks like Mardi Gras
Frenchtastic, great video! very beautiful! Tell me, what is your opinion of using AC in summer? I heard people in France don't like to run AC 😲 Here in California, it isn't really optional; 43 C is not an uncommon temperature in summer. Currently it is 23 C and it would already be quite warm inside the building without AC! 27 is predicted on Tuesday. California is 80% solar power when the sun is in the sky, so it isn't contributing to global warming, I know France is 80% nuclear, which is also clean energy 🙂
I’m used to not needing it. I wouldn't say people don't like it, it’s more that it’s not that really common. I guess nowadays it's changing
Incredible video of your gorgeous country! Thank you so much for sharing! I hope your family visits filled your heart with joy!!!
I like France 🇫🇷! France 🇫🇷 is my favorite!
Salamat po/Merci beaucoup Marie for this vlog!
So beautiful! When are you coming to New Orleans?
Soooooon
If you get a chance Marie could you someday do a video of Chamonix?
I have a playlist with five videos about the Alps, Chamonix included 😊Discover the French Alps 🏔

@FrenchTasticExplorations thanks. Not sure how I managed to overlook those. 🙂🙃🙂
I couldn't figure out a theme for the parade/carnival. It seemed so random.
I didn't see a Mustang, Marie )))
I actually saw a camaro when I left... 😑
Je veux dire “extended family” en français. Selon le dictionnaire bilingue, c’est “la famille élargie”.
Russland I missed you
So . . . What kind of tree were they that were only there. If you know.
I'd say young cork oak but I'm not sure
Isn't Cap d'Agde a clothing optional resort?
Plenty of that there!
🙂🙃🍰⚜
So is South France like the Southern USA with all the French pickup trucks and South French Hillbillies? 🤔😁
It does appear there are smaller towns where life mght be more relaxed-is that what you mean?
Il y a une vision qui regarde la longeur du nez, et il ya ne vision que regarde le monde. Oui?
