On your next trip to the US you should go to the Rocky Mountain/Southwest Desert region. More specifically, check out some of the great National Parks out that way. Especially in Southern Utah.

My friends and I used to go to Canada from the US before we were 21 because the drinking age was 18. The border guards pulled us over all the time just to hassle us because they didn't want young adults coming in to get drunk and make trouble. They do something called behavioral interviewing, it's more about how you react than what you say.

Know what makes you different from most youtubers? You can make a video about a subject/place and make it not about you. You had those pictures of you just sitting enjoying the view, which I have been there and agree, it is amazing. You were able to just relax and enjoy a quiet moment without having to force yourself into it. I saw the same thing when you visited Normandy. You were there, but respectfully. Too many other people would have forced the video to be about themselves, and not where they were. Kudos Marie! You are truly a special lady, and I hope you are able to visit the US a lot more. You need to visit all 50 states as they are all truly different.

Bonjour sweetie, this is the best video of your trip so far. A few thoughts:
    1) I thought the buffalo wings didn't look all that appetizing, so I wasn't surprised you didn't like them. Good thing you weren't in Buffalo in the winter. The lake effect snow from Lake Erie is brutal. I got caught in it once, and it's a terrible experience.
    2) I can see why you were detained at the Canadian border; I've always thought you look suspicious.😁Just kidding Marie. I'm sure others are correct that the border agents were looking for human trafficking.
    3) Calling the Falls "majestic", is the perfect description. Your camera work there was exceptionally good. Your filming skills are outstanding.

The Canadian Border Agents were probably trying to make sure you weren't being "trafficked" (human trafficking). Remind me to tell you a story about being denied entry at a border checkpoint from Montana to Canada in the 90's (didn't even need a passport back then). It's a pretty funny story now, but wasn't that funny at the time, considering the border agent told me if I didn't get in my truck and drive back to the U.S. border, she was going to shoot me, lol. The U.S. border agents thought it was hilarious.

Had an issue on a concert tour during high school. We went up to Calgary and Regina, and on our way back to the US, we went through border security. Most of us were US citizens, but we did have a few exchange students.
Border patrol said "Let's make this simple. Is everyone american?" And all the exchange students said "NO!", so we got detained for almost a hour as they dealt with all the exchange student's passports. The Americans got to chill out near the bus, but our chaperones and teachers had a lot of questions to answer.

I agree, they were concerned about human trafficking. You have to give them some credit for being on the lookout. BTW/even as an American, going across the border into Canada can be nerve-wracking. They often make it a point to ask questions of everyone in the car, just to see if the accents are the same (within families) or to make sure the stories add up. It isn't like they are threatening, but it isn't exactly friendly or casual, either. I would imagine it is the same or worse for folks trying to get into the U.S.

@@ericgeorgetruckgrilling The border person at the booth wasn't armed, but the woman inside that walked me out was packing heat and an attitude. The American border agents told me (after they stopped laughing) that she had a history of doing that to males in their twenties. Also, the "CBSA" wasn't founded until 2004/2005. I'm not sure what they were called before that.

Marie!Marie! What a fantastic video!!! What I like most about your videos is that that you make me feel like I am there and getting just as much enjoyment as if were ACTUALLY there, while at the same time learning things About the places you visit. That is not an easy thing to do , and yet you make it look so easy . Unfortunately, with the prevalence of drugs and human trafficking, as well as possible terrorist activity, the border agents must do their jobs , which understandably can be unnerving at times. Sometimes the many have to pay for the sins of a few. By the way, you handled that whole situation very well. There is nothing wrong with being afraid at times. We all have those moments. It’s What we do and how we control ourselves in those situations, and , despite your fear, you handled the situation beautifully. Well done!! Can’t wait to see the upcoming videos!!!😎👍👍👍

I really enjoy your videos and editing. You are lucky to have found such a generous friend! Fun useless fact; it takes 200 years for water to traverse the Great Lakes system. 99% of the water in the Great Lakes is from the last ice age 12,000 years ago, and is referred to as "fossil water". Only 1% of the water in all the Great Lakes is new water from rain, rivers, etc...since it is a closed system the outflow is extremely small and that also makes the lakes very vulnerable to pollution since the pollutants don't get flushed out.

Bonjour Marie! Yeah, what an amazing view! Sorry that you got stopped at the border, but I'm not all that surprised since you 2 are form different countries. Umm...as far as Christmas...yeah...I had mentioned in a comment on an earlier video that my Dad passed away on 13 December down in Florida (I'm in Michigan,) well...now my Step-Dad is in end-of-life-care hospice here at home. My Mom doesn't think he'll live to see Christmas, but it's tough to say. He turned 80 years old 2 days ago on the 19th, and has been in hospice care since yesterday. His youngest son passed away suddenly at age 48 a few months ago from a blood clot, so my family has had a rough year. We normally have his kids and their kids over on Christmas morning, but because of the circumstances, and an expected severe snow storm (up to 10 inches/25 cm) we cancelled, but many of the kids and grandkids have come by to say goodbye. Thank you for your beautiful and interesting videos. It's been great to be able to relax and enjoy them during these past few difficult weeks. Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed.

It’s always tough losing people we love, but God’s love and the love and support of family and friends gets us through it. As a Christian, I have faith in eternal life. I have lost four members of my immediate family. I pray that one day I will see them again in heaven. I pray that’s true for you as well. Hang in there. 🙏🏻🎄

Again, a job well done. After watching I checked something about Niagara Falls.
I knew they “shut off” the American side back in 1931 but just now I learned they diverted the water again back in 1969. The plan was to remove the boulders at the base to give the falls more height. It was noted at the time that a great number of people went to the falls to see the water not flow over.

If you ever do make it down to the southern part of the U.S. You’re going to REALLY enjoy the kindness down here. We have a thing called “Southern Hospitality”. Everyone in the southern states (Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas) are especially kind to one another. It’s something you will see pretty quickly if you ever make it to the south. But we also have a very diverse culture as well, so you have to kinda be careful in some places like New Orleans. It’s not as dangerous as say Los Angeles or New York, but you have to be careful and kinda know where your going at night particularly. But if you ever do make it down here, you’ll see that “Southern Charm” pretty quickly in Texas, Louisiana & Mississippi. There’s not much to do down here, but you’ll LOVE the Southern Hospitality for sure. And you can always shoot me a message if you ever need advice on where to go and things like that if you ever need to. Best of travels 😊

The Canadian-USA border crossing can be tricky. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan across the river from Windsor, Ontario. For 20 years I belonged to a Windsor-Detroit Historical club and we had monthly meetings alternating between the cities. Three times Canadian customs sent me for secondary search. I still cannot figure out why other than random. The first time I was like you, I wanted to answer honestly but I wanted to be careful what I said. I am thoroughly enjoying your travelogue.

A ton of wild animals, such as, bison Buffalo, grizzly bears, moose, elk, mountain lions/cougars, bobtail cats, etc. You have geysers, mud pots, hot springs, water falls, etc. 3) Yosemite National Park, it has the largest trees in the world. Redwoods, some are as old as 3.,000 years old. Also, different wild animals, mountain climbing, and waterfalls, etc. 4) The Grand Canyon. It's huge and is up to a mile deep. 5) Las Vegas, gambling, shows, concerts, etc.

    Hi ya Marie,
It's beautiful catching all the fall colours throughout your trip, anchor's bar with its vintage bikes & stuff was so cool , what they do so well & one of those things I like about the states , if I recall right don't you also have some car plates on your wall. It's a shame the🐔 wings didn't live up to expectations, maybe it's just a acquired taste but you liked the spicy sauce, anyway you can't go wrong with crispy fries & a delicious sandwich .🍟🥪
I always like seeing all the old painted wooden houses & church's you drive through, it's a shame you went through that at the border, officials can be overzealous, maybe it was your accent that peaked there interest, not that makes any difference, I'm sure your not the only one , they shouldn't arrest anyone without probable cause , anyway you can laugh about it now, hopefully it wouldn't put you off returning to Canada & you'll be better prepared next time.
Arriving at Niagara falls it's awesome experiencing one of nature's wonders there alongside a city, you could have gotten up much closer on a boat ride if you don't mind getting sprayed, I think it's just on the american side but your camera isn't waterproof is it, I can see why you found the views from the window so captivating & pretty at night with a jazzy 🎶 score.
Thanks for your latest blog, has it really been that many, it was funny seeing you posing on a big chair, it's going to be interesting seeing more of Canada & what you made of it next time, & maybe you can show us all the coins you've collected on all your travels someday. 😀 💖 🌊 ✌️

Niagara Falls actually provides electricity to most of the north east United States including New York City. It’s crazy to think that water does that through hydroelectric plants.
Niagara Falls is actually three separate falls lovers falls, horseshoe falls, and one I forgot the name of. But yeah it’s an ok city. Lovers falls is really popular for couples and stuff like that. Horseshoe falls is more touristy. Fortunately the falls do have that boat tour if you like that goes under the falls which you get soaked or the walking path.

Couple things. First, it's hard to ignore the issues at the border, but I'll refrain on commenting out of respect for Marie and her channel. Second, the falls are gorgeous. Great shots, Marie. And I was going to ask if you met and French-speaking Canadians, but I'll wait for the next video in this excellent series; I have an inkling I'll get that one answered then.
A very Merry Christmas to you and yours, my dear.

Hi Marie!! I would have loved to take that drive with you all through the Autumn leaves changing colors! The mountains were beautiful you showed. (I like those trucks too, lol) The Anchor Bar even had a Statue of Liberty in there with the cycles and license plates 😲, even though probably that sauce I saw on the wings could have ruined the taste for you. Driving through Buffalo showed some cool old architecture and bunches of brick buildings too! I am so sorry about your Canadian border delay (it happened to me coming BACK to the US from Mexico). Marie, I would have been quite petrified, as I was at the Mexican border, where they searched our car and us. But you made it to the awesome Niagara Falls 😄- WOW is that ever a sight!! (You know, that Canadian money was really pretty, including that cool coin you showed!) I saw Niagara once decades ago when I was in Toronto, but your videos of it are truly spectacular to see. Close up you can see how rapidly the water is flowing, and also see the unbelievable amount of water that pours over those falls every single second 😮❗You chose the perfect word . . . mesmerizing!! It is so beautiful, and I love the water vapor cloud that hangs over the river at the bottom of the Falls. (I loved the giant chair you slid down when trying to get pictures 🤗😄) You even ended up at a Friday's restaurant in Canada, lol (and remembered NO ICE too ☺)! Marie, I could not believe the amazing light show that goes on at the Falls at night from your perfect room view, and I would not have been able to turn away from that view!! I am really looking forward to your special Christmas video of your day in Canada, as that is going to be so fun to see. Thank you so much for your going through all that and sharing with us the indescribable beauty of Niagara Falls with your professional camera work 🤗💕. Take care Marie, and your family Christmas is almost here - YAY 🥰❣

Love Niagara Falls. Just an amazing wonder of nature. There are different varieties of Buffalo Wings besides hot. Maybe BBQ or Garlic Parmesan might be more to your liking. I hope you tried some Poutine while you were in Canada.

Welcome to somewhat my neck of the woods Canada (about 1.5hrs away). Not sure if your still in town, but weather network says theirs a major rain/snow/wind storm heading our way (parts of US as well). If your supposed to leave Thursday evening or Friday or possibly Saturday you may want to check on that. Stay Safe.

Bon jour Mademoiselle! How delightful to meet you! My mama was born and raised in France just south of Bordeaux. She unfortunately was there during the occupation. My moi oncle was a French Resistance fighter and my grand-me're was given a choice to either make munitions in Germany as there was few left there or the concentration camps, she made munitions. My mama was taken captive in the Officers encampment by where the French Treaty was signed on the train. She was abused most horribly. Moi oncle waited in the tree line as she was working in the vineyard and rescued her. She was then flown to the English countryside with thousands of displaced families and soon to be orphan's. She was quite damaged and different of course than the American mom's. The ravages of war continue for decades for those involved. We went to France a couple of times...beautiful beyond words! The art and architecture divine! I cried when Norte' Dame burned, there are no words. Mon dieu' the Basilique du Sacre'-Coeur de Montmartre left me breathless!! Guess it could have been the stairs! JK! My grand-me're lived in La Rochelle, so divine this village by the sea! Aaah and the french bread that was left every morning outside everyone's doors...the smell! OMG!!! Oh the food!! I learned of artichoke's, black cherries, Coquilles Saint-Jacque, cheeses, cornichon's...and pastries'...oh the pastries' and croissants!!! Oh my I could go on and on. I lived in Upstate NY as a child, been to the Falls and what used to be the Old Niagara Museum. How fun! We used to cross over and exchange our monies...that was in the 60's. Enjoy your life to the fullest and may God Bless you and yours always! 🌹🍒🥐🥖🫕🍫🍷🗼

The border crossing, either side, can be so quick and easy or more difficult and that can be for reasons that have nothing to do with any particular individuals. Sometimes there are alerts regards a type of commuter, or a special security concern that invites more scrutiny in general, or a training exercise that the public get to be the 'guinea pig' for (the lab experiment).

Wow…. You are right in my neighborhood. I can see the building I work in at 2:26.. Anchor bar is a couple blocks away. It’s actually more of a touristy spot. Not really the one that all the locals go to for the best of the best wings. I wish I new you were around to give you some local tips. 😢🥲😩

The last tile I drove to Canada was in 2019, from New York to Ottawa, and it was just my wife and myself. We were also pulled aside and had to wait for 45 minutes. At that time they gave is our passports back and welcomed in. No explanation at all. We’re both US citizens and have been to Canada a few times, as well as to other countries. 🤷‍♂️ Very similar experience to yours. They actually have other people in the back checking your travel, residence and even social media. The people up front chatting aren’t the ones doing anything, except customer service.

I’ve crossed the Peace Bridge between Buffalo and Canada many times. It can be just a few friendly questions or you can be pulled over like you were. It can be completely random. I know someone who saw what they did and the inspectors took the car doors apart to see if anything was hidden inside. Maybe you were stopped because you were in a rental car. The important thing is to keep your cool and like you said, just let them do their job and then be on your way. You did great!

I've never been to Canada, but if your friend is a good bit older than you, they may have just been trying to ensure that you were safe and not being forced into anything against your will. Just a guess though.
Looks like you had a wonderful time during your trip. I hope you'll be able to do it again before too long, and visit some other areas. Just research those areas before going, you don't want to go anywhere unsafe.

Watching the earlier part where you are marveling at the changing colors of the trees I can't help but feel that it is ordinary to me. Your excitement over it reminds me that not every place has the variety and density of trees that we have in the northeast and midwest USA. There are times, however, that I stop and pay attention to them in the fall and really enjoy them as well, so I'm not completely uncultured. Watching foreigners enjoy that which we take for granted is a bit humbling, and I think that can be a good thing.

Yeah like I said on your previous video, I was at the Falls in 1987 as a 13 year old, just having graduated from Junior High/Middle School (8th Grade). And yes, we did observe the Falls from the Canadian side. Much better access and vantage point from that side. I think it's said that the Cliff edges erode away by a foot a year. But it used to be 5 feet per year up until 1942. So yeah, the Falls used to be all the way down the valley there. But even at 1 foot per year, the Falls have receded 36 feet since I was there. That's 12 yards.

I agree with you regarding Buffalo wings. They taste terrible. Just because they're famous doesn't mean they're good!
At the border crossing, you and your friend might have been "profiled", but it's also possible you were pulled aside at random. Hard to know. It is kind of off-putting to be evaluated/interrogated by border patrol. The first time I entered Canada (30+ years ago) it was with my Dad and he was driving. We pulled up to the gate and the guy said, "Citizen of?" and my Dad froze. After an uncomfortable pause, I answered "United States" from the passengers side. Luckily, we made it through. They didn't turn us around and send us back. 😄

So glad you got to see Niagara Falls (from either side)! And yes, staring (from up-close) at the water going over the edge of the falls is *absolutely* mesmerizing! You're looking at the water, but somehow you're also looking into it, and beyond it ... and suddenly you realize that you've been staring at it for *so long!* Afterwards, you figure you were maybe staring at it for 10 or 15 minutes, but you feel like you took a refreshing 30 or 40 minute nap!
Too bad you didn't like the wings; did they point out that there were different versions/styles? If you are going as a group, the thing to do is to order different kinds, and then sample them, and see if you like version 'A' or 'B' or 'C' or ... it might take some sampling, to find out what you really like!
There must be a problem with YT, because I think this is only the 9th or 10th video I've seen! I'm a little annoyed/perturbed that I'm missing so many!
Hopefully I'll catch the next one! Ciao! Dosvidanya!
P.S. - that view of the falls from the hotel was *awesome!* I remember noticing that place when I visited the American side a few months ago. Some of my pictures included it. I remember thinking at the time, that the view from there must be amazing!
    *Joyeux Noël!*

I used to travel to the Buffalo area for my work. One time when my boss was traveling with me, we were traveling from Dansville, NY to Buffalo and as we went around a curve, we both gasped at the beauty of a large tree and it's changing leaves that sprung into our view. There is a lot of beauty in New York beside the city.

I had to laugh with your assumption that the Canadian Border agents don't give Americans such a hard time! My American family and I crossed into Canada at the same exact spot where you crossed and pretty much got the same treatment! I messed up by pulling ahead of the stop sign while waiting in line to talk to the Canadian border agent and the guy freaked up and started yelling at me to back up. 30 minutes later we were done with our third degree interrogation of why would we crossover into Canada for just a few hours just to see Niagara Falls! BTW, I'm really enjoying seeing my country (US) through the eyes of a beautiful french woman! I'm happy that you are able to enjoy the little things that make this country so nice!
