The advertisement "SEE ROCK CITY" is a staple in the south around Lookout Mountain. It has been for many decades painted on barn tops for a hundred miles. I love the factoid that a man from Tennessee once climbed Mount Everest, and when he reached the summit he left a small red topped barn there that said "SEE ROCK CITY". Great video.

Not just around the area of Chattanooga. The They paid farmers all over to pain "See Rock City" on barns. I'm originally from Indiana and we saw them

@@johnthomas2485 Yep, guy named Clark Byers painted over 900 barns in 19 states with the "See Rock City" logo. Lookout Mountain is really about 75 miles long.

When I moved from New England to Georgia and got to travel in north Georgia and South Carolina I thought it was a lot like the White Mountains in New Hampshire - rivers, small waterfalls, and bald rock tops to hills/mountains. Beautiful country.

    Hey Marie , Happy Summertime 😁 🌄 🍑
"Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind" 🎶
You know With a Lucky Gnome as a friend , Magic is never too far away. Lookout mountain a true marvel of nature , the views ( across the states) was amazing 🔭 and the Rock features are unique , no wonder it's so popular , were the trails giving you mystical vibes to. I'm surprised that many could fit through fat man squeeze considering how it is nowadays. You did the best you could working the camera in those tight spots. Fairytale land was terrific with all the characters side by side we know so well , I didn't see snow white or the 7 dwarfs , I'm guessing they need permission from Disney. Going down into the caverns was exciting like something out of Jules Verne journey to the centre of the earth. Ruby falls was spectacular sparkling in various colours. It's been visited since the ice age & they've found pilocene bones. It was mined for saltpeter to make gunpowder and also used as a makeshift hospital during the civil war , Andrew Jackson was so impressed he signed the walls.
It's a moving and romantic story about Leo and Ruby turning there dream into a reality. Back in the 60s & 70s there was a large number of billboards of 'see ruby falls ' 100s of miles away. Johnny Cash & Roy Oribson co - wrote a song about the slogan seen on barn roofs.
It was well worth the few hours , hopefully your go back again & discover more , there's even a small town called Helen in the blue ridge mountains modelled after a alpine village including the octoberfest celebration , a number of islands like St Simons with a WW 2 home front museum & faces carved on the trees , Cumberland with its secluded beaches & Tybee with the oldest & tallest lighthouse in Georgia and there's Tallulah gorge state park with its suspension bridge with fantastic views of the waterfalls just west of the border with south Carolina.
Thanks Marie , keep cool 🧃 , maybe it is a heatwave I dunno & do be careful when it comes to fake chicken , watermelon & bananas etc that's sold at Walmart , make sure what your eating is fresh & natural.
" When the moon is high , and the stars twinkle bright , Gnomes come alive in the moonlight"
    Have a blessed Sunday 😊🌻 🧡 ✌️

I knew that place was close to the Tennessee/Georgia border, but I always thought Rock City was in Tennessee.
Anyway, just a couple miles West of there is a 100 mile long, deep and narrow Sesquatchi Valley. This valley does not lie between tall mountains like most valleys. Instead it a carst formation. It is all limestone in that area and over millions of years gigantic caves were formed by ground water erosion, much like the one you visited. These caves eventually became so large that they collapsed, leaving a long and narrow depression in the surrounding landscape that is now know as the Sesquatchi Valley. You can see this process still being played out to the very North Eastern edge of the valley where Grassy Cove has formed but is still not fully connected to the main valley yet.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip to Georgia, my home state for many years, and I enjoyed your video. But I think that it would be unfair to our good neighbors in Tennessee to not point out that Lookout Mountain, Rock City, and Ruby Falls are all *in* the state of Tennessee, near the city of Chattanooga. They're close to the Georgia border, but we'd be remiss to claim them as ours, since the people of Tennessee are quite fond of them. I hope you'll come back to Georgia. We have some fine places to visit, too. Cloudland Canyon State Park is very near to all those places you visited. Or you might try Pine Mountain in Central Georgia, home to Callaway Gardens, the largest azalea garden in the world. Beautiful place. Keep traveling and stay safe.

Candle rock formations aren’t rare but aren’t common either. They have the appearance of melted wax candles. Basically limestone mixed with water creates them over a very long time. Drop by drop. Carls bad cavern have a few inside. The shiny appearance is from cave insects that crawl all over them and some natural erosion. They are fun to look at but don’t touch. Just by looking at it you can tell exactly how it was formed. There are a lot of caves underneath Florida, it creates a natural water filter that we get drinking water from. We understand cave formations because of explorations down there. We even found crystalline structures that are made of elements we are still trying to understand. Although we have tested their electrical properties and they conduct power better than most metals we have now. It’s strange though as we had to explore to find them.

My neck of the woods! Happy you enjoyed! I've lived in the area all my life and have never been to Ruby Falls. It's been years since I went to Rock City. The swinging bridge TERRIFIED me, but I had to cross it to get to the rest of the tour. Of course, there were some bratty kids who were shaking it, trying to make it really swing.

Did that tour almost 50 years ago. Time flies when you're having fun!

I've been to Ruby Falls. It is a nice visit. It is also in Tennessee rather than Georgia (although very close to the state border).

Marie, it's awesome that you got to see those amazing places in Georgia. I've never been there before so it's really cool that you shared the things you did there with all of us. This video did show some differences for you though. Which do you like better? Being high up? Or being underground? They both have their benefits and detriments so I'm curious which of the two you prefer. Thank you for taking us along on this adventure. Take care and keep smiling!

There is a weird enclave/ exclave thing with Tennessee and Georgia where a small piece of Tennessee is in Georgia. It’s not that big but it’s just strange. It’s also somewhat near a bucees.

Georgia's fine as long as you don't find yourself lost on a rafting trip in north Georgia... ever seen Deliverance?

Just another awesome video from my favorite french import.... Those caves were so cool with the waterfall and all those formations, but that trail through the rocks was something else. What a great place for a day trip ... or as the Beatle would say, Daytripper. I really enjoy your channel Marie, stay safe and as always, stay you.

Is Helen, Ga nearby? Remember that beautiful German mountain town from when I was a kid. All of north Georgia is really beautiful!
