The advertisement "SEE ROCK CITY" is a staple in the south around Lookout Mountain. It has been for many decades painted on barn tops for a hundred miles. I love the factoid that a man from Tennessee once climbed Mount Everest, and when he reached the summit he left a small red topped barn there that said "SEE ROCK CITY". Great video.

@@johnthomas2485 Yep, guy named Clark Byers painted over 900 barns in 19 states with the "See Rock City" logo. Lookout Mountain is really about 75 miles long.

One year when I was in high school in TN in the sixties, our yearbook had an aerial photo of the school which had one prominent building with a white roof. Everyone would write "See Rock City and Ruby Falls" on that rooftop photo in the yearbook.

Many people don't realize just how much natural beauty the southeastern United States has to offer, and it brings me joy to see you having the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate some of it. I've lived within an hour of where you visited all of my life and it's an amazing area. If you ever make it back to this area, Cathedral Caverns in Alabama, Stone Mountain in Georgia and even the United States Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL are wonderful places to visit.

Chattanooga is a great place to spend a weekend. It’s a small city but it’s packed full of things to do. The Tennessee Aquarium, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain Battlefield, Incline Railway, Chattanooga Choo Choo, any several really good places to eat. Hey Marie , Happy Summertime 😁 🌄 🍑
"Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind" 🎶
You know With a Lucky Gnome as a friend , Magic is never too far away. Lookout mountain a true marvel of nature , the views ( across the states) was amazing 🔭 and the Rock features are unique , no wonder it's so popular , were the trails giving you mystical vibes to. I'm surprised that many could fit through fat man squeeze considering how it is nowadays. You did the best you could working the camera in those tight spots. Fairytale land was terrific with all the characters side by side we know so well , I didn't see snow white or the 7 dwarfs , I'm guessing they need permission from Disney. Going down into the caverns was exciting like something out of Jules Verne journey to the centre of the earth. Ruby falls was spectacular sparkling in various colours. It's been visited since the ice age & they've found pilocene bones. It was mined for saltpeter to make gunpowder and also used as a makeshift hospital during the civil war , Andrew Jackson was so impressed he signed the walls.
It's a moving and romantic story about Leo and Ruby turning there dream into a reality. Back in the 60s & 70s there was a large number of billboards of 'see ruby falls ' 100s of miles away. Johnny Cash & Roy Oribson co - wrote a song about the slogan seen on barn roofs.
It was well worth the few hours , hopefully your go back again & discover more , there's even a small town called Helen in the blue ridge mountains modelled after a alpine village including the octoberfest celebration , a number of islands like St Simons with a WW 2 home front museum & faces carved on the trees , Cumberland with its secluded beaches & Tybee with the oldest & tallest lighthouse in Georgia and there's Tallulah gorge state park with its suspension bridge with fantastic views of the waterfalls just west of the border with south Carolina.
Thanks Marie , keep cool 🧃 , maybe it is a heatwave I dunno & do be careful when it comes to fake chicken , watermelon & bananas etc that's sold at Walmart , make sure what your eating is fresh & natural.
" When the moon is high , and the stars twinkle bright , Gnomes come alive in the moonlight"
    Have a blessed Sunday 😊🌻 🧡 ✌️

Georgian here. Glad you enjoyed our state. Our mountains are the oldest on Earth and date from Pangea. Of course you probably saw how very HOT things are here. We did not become very populated until the invention of Air Conditioning. Today one would probably not alter the rocks so much as they were to make these two places (carving them and making paths) but today most would leave them in their natural state. It is very calming to relax in the mountains of the Appalachians. Much of this land was preserved by belonging to natives until the US drove them out in the trail of tears. Still somewhat sparsely populated today. You should consider visiting Savannah as well.

These last few years have been a hard pull for many Americans. I had hoped we would have met our challenges a bit more effectively and had gotten along with each other better. Along the way, it seemed we forgot just how amazing America is; how lucky we all are to be here and how grateful we should be for those who gave us the opportunity continue this journey. Watching you discover the wonders we often take for granted is a joy from a simple human perspective. We like seeing others happy. But, more importantly, it serves to remind us how blessed and amazing our lives are, here, in the USA. Thank you. Be safe. Enjoy your travels. :)

Fun Trivia: Interstate 24 in Georgia is the only section of the Interstate Highway System that does not change its mile markers when it enters another state. From Chattanooga, through its brief time in Georgia, until it gets to Kentucky near Fort Campbell, I-24 keeps its Tennessee mile markers. This is probably just easier for people to tell emergency services where they are, if they need to, since the interstate is not in Georgia very long.

I knew that place was close to the Tennessee/Georgia border, but I always thought Rock City was in Tennessee.
Anyway, just a couple miles West of there is a 100 mile long, deep and narrow Sesquatchi Valley. This valley does not lie between tall mountains like most valleys. Instead it a carst formation. It is all limestone in that area and over millions of years gigantic caves were formed by ground water erosion, much like the one you visited. These caves eventually became so large that they collapsed, leaving a long and narrow depression in the surrounding landscape that is now know as the Sesquatchi Valley. You can see this process still being played out to the very North Eastern edge of the valley where Grassy Cove has formed but is still not fully connected to the main valley yet.

I watched you for a while. Glad you made it here. If you get to come again, I recommend Savannah and Tybee Island, maybe Dahlonnaga, or Helen. Callaway gardens. A few other smaller towns.

Glad you liked our little hole in the ground. There's a haunted house in that cave in October.

I've been to both, you should go to Cumberland Caverns in Warren County, Tennessee, Hugh Cave also a cave in Pelham, Franklin County, Tennessee that has live music.

I've been by there hundreds of times going to my grandparents' house on Signal Mountain, but I've never gone to Rock City or Ruby Falls. A lot of my family and friends have.

Georgia is a beautiful state. I hope you make it down to Savannah. I book an Airbnb on lookout mountain and the views are stunning, especially when the hang gliders are taking off from next door.

I remember See Rock City on barns about as much as the Meramec Caverns. Marie, you missed the Caverns thing on your St. Louis visit. It's too bad, but you can only do so much. Great history in Chattanooga. They say you can see seven states, but can you? I don't know. Nice hook, though. Hotel Chattanooga Choo Choo was amazingly different when I went years ago. Beautiful scenery, Marie. That's another curly W

GA has a lot to offer. Mountains in the north, flat plains in the southwest, lakes and rivers all over. great beaches on the coast and swamps in the southeast. Something for everyone except dessert we don't have that but you can go to one of the biggest airports in the world and fly to Vegas if you want dessert.

Love Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls! Such a great place!
Being from East Tennessee, it's about a 4-hour drive there for a fun vacation, versus driving 8-9 hours to the East Coast and spending double the amount of money to vacation at the beach!
