As always, it's a pleasure learning from your videos, Dr. Berg. Taking just a teaspoon of Ispaghol (psyllium) a day in water dramatically improved my sugar and cholesterol levels, along with other minor lifestyle changes such as diet and regular exercise. One thing I wish to add though is that taking psyllium with water straight away can be very disturbing to the digestive system causing bloating, cramps and even constipation. For this reason, many people in Pakistan and India soak psyllium in a bowl of water for eight hours before consuming. Basically, in the morning I put a teaspoon of psyllium in a bowl, add a glass of water and stir well, and then cover with a saucer. About 8 hours later and 30min before dinner you will see it having turned into a thick gel-like liquid. Give it a few stirs and drink before dinner. If you want even better results mix in a teaspoon of olive oil into the bowl before drinking. It's a game changer for sure. Wishing everyone good health and happiness.

@Oletta Wisemon - I think I agree. Hello Dr love your video ❤️ is psyllium fiber same as psyllium powder
Thank u dr for all these information u change my all bad habit
I use it for the exact opposite reasons you mentioned. Like if I accidentally drink dairy and have diarrhea I take metamucil to help solidify it
My iron levels are low, and my bad cholestrol is high at 5.8 ,you said this can decrese iron absorption, should i avoid it?
Thanks for everything you are the best doctor
@Oletta Wisemonwhy laughing??
I am new to the 18/6 IMF meal arrangement and I noticed I'm eating less fiber foods. So I now take psyllium husk capsules and progressed from 1 to 3 capsules 1st thing in the morning. Since I take so many supplements I've been told to take the psyllium 2 hrs before or 2 hours after taking medications. It's difgicult to juggle between different medication times and the psyllium so 1st thing when I wake up is best for me.
Will it break a fast or stop autophagy?
In Pakistan every house has this.
But now I found out we were curing few issues and causing some more issues same time.
Such as not taking enough water. Gas problem.
Iron deficiency.
Also in constipation some people consume this as a cure but now I got it why they end up in more problems.
Thanks doctor for such a informative video!
One of the best thing in world for whom have toilet problems the issues he mentioned are very very rare actually never heard of someone have them problems after using Isphagol. It absorbs water so need to have good levels of water in body only and it will works like Super drug
@@Baladi367fr? I need more fibre my gut is in utter chaos. I believe once we heal the gut, everything else follows. I believe many of problems stem from poor gut health; lack of healthy bacteria and gut motility; lack of fibre.

Dr what about Flaxseed ? Is it save to baking and eat?
it really does gel up. Put some in a bowl with water and watch it gell up big
Wow! Amazing Information. ❤
I use Psyllium husk only for baking once in a while. For lowering blood sugar and insulin level I prefer Apple Cider Vinegar more
Thanks for sharing Dr, Berg :)
Psyllium doesnt do the same things at all but share slight similar qualities

I get bloated any time I add psyllium husk to my cabbage swallow for low carb diet any alternative for decreasing bloating?
I was diagnosed with iron deficiency, is it ok to have?
How often can I take psyllium for my ketogenic diet?
I’m always bloated and constipated. I found out about this months ago, got it and drink it every morning. I always drink a lot of water but I noticed it gives me migraines. Helps with the constipation tho
How much are you taking each day? Start off with 1/2 in 8 oz. of water in the morning and then work your way up to 1 tsp., of course drink lots of water *with electrolytes.* That helped me with my symptoms. Good luck!

What about IBS D? How would psyllium husk help?
Does it work for IBS?
I’ve taken psyllium husk powder to keep my blood sugar from spiking with meals but it has caused me nutrition deficiencies because it prevents my stomach from absorbing the food and nutrients so I don’t know if I should take it away from my meals
Can you do one on bamboo fiber? Also oat fiber? Are they healthy?
Dr berg in a previous video you recommended against psyllium husk where u cited a study that found it causes colon polyps a pre-cursor to colon cancer. Has that position changed because i stopped using the product based on your video, has your position now subsequently changed because the husk worked great for hemorrhoids but your video scared me can you please clarify for me
I'm allergic to psyllium, I break out in a full body rash. What are good alternatives?
I used it in my chicken stew and the entire pot of it was like gel.but I was super happy with the outcome of the thickening of the gravy.
How many spoons did you put in it?

What source of fiber is better for constipation: psyllium husks or grounded/soaked chia seeds?
Try one then another.Everyone is different. What causes your constipation is also a big question mark. Sometimes, just a very warm water(30-60 min.1-2 glasses before meal) might help.Orand warm water with some apple cider vinegar. Probiotics.Kombucha, liquorice tea (very laxative) can also help. I love chea seeds sometimes too.BUt not the husks
top for IBS
I have one question sir I have stage 2 hemorrhoids do our body get tolerate for fibres when we are consuming for long periods of time I mean when I am taking it for long no much benefits I can get from it same dehydrate stool again but when I stop taking husk for a week and start it again it is giving best results to me again why this problem I am facing I smoke (I take nicotine snuss and weed and a lot of caffien and cold rinks too I know it all cause me a lot dehydration) what to do

Flax seeds also have the tendency to gel when I add water. Does this flax seed have a smilar effect as Psyllium?
Everything with moderation including these wonder seeds.
I’m anemic can I use this
When is the right time to drink psyllium husk? I drink it before eat my lunch. Is that ok, i dont eat breakfast.
Do you have to take it separate from other food supplements or medication? I'd imagine it could absorb some of those if taken simultaneously, lowering the effects of other supplements?
Sidenote: I got hold of a couple of bottles of Psyllium Husk with 90 capsules of 625 mg each. Apparently you're supposed to take one pr. day. Been suspecting the dosage being far too low. Which I now realize was useless, unless I gobbled up 11-12 every day, running through the bottle in like a week.
Hello ! I am taking this for bloating and constipation and the sides effect are bloating and constipation 🤷♀️
Drink lots of water right after taking psyllium
Its bulk forming with soluble fibre which means it absorbs LOTS of water while also acting as a great fibre supplement pulling away out of the bowels and also its a good prebiotic

I heard that psyllium husk is like a bulldozer and it can damage the villi. If this is untrue please let me know.
Wouldn't it be more like a dump truck?
Oletta Wisemon that don’t sound too fun 😕
@Oletta Wisemon - I think I agree. I started trying to enjoy 2 Metamucil psyllium cookies at night to help me feel full instead of eating white bread and now sometimes I wake up with a terrible scraping feeling in my intestines. I’ve had to use a warm pack in the morning to soothe my belly. If something is painful to consume it’s probably not good for you. Common sense wins yet again. And the family member that recommended using it later eventually had terrible digestive disease.
I was advised to use it by the hospital as I have diverticulitis, it helps smooth the channels.
@@DeborahE7 There's a maximum that you are allowed to have, I wonder if that's why. And do you have tea with the cookies, or eat them dry? You need to drink a lot of water I think.
Hello Dr. Berg, thanks for the video on psyllium. I am a bit shocked at the dosage been discussed here. I have been having 3 heaped teaspoons every day with yogurt. Is that amount bad. I feel good though.
So you say 7g of the husks but the amount of fibre the government recommends is like 38g so are these husks doing the job of fibre better than fibre from say apples can do it?
Hey Doc, you said in a video that this may cause cancer. Can you clear that up please ?
Dr Berg. I've been hearing alot about Lupin Flour and Oat fiber. Do you believe it is keto friendly?
theyre all carbs...carbs are a NoNo in keto...only carbs legal for consumption are from salads and greens , rest are prohibited and liable for prosecution in the Keto Courts punishable with a fine of 500dinars or 2 month jail or both

@@rahildean8280 I am trying to focus on adding things to food which bring some nutritional benefit. Husk works for me because it’s a way of increasing my fibre intake, I just add a small scoop to my proton protein powder
the dosage on a bag i bought said 1 tablespoon and take it 3 times a day I am sure they just said that so i have to buy it more often. That would be very unpleasant to have to drink it 3 times a day and a tablespoon of psyllium would need at least 1 litre of water for it not to end up a coagulated blob. only take one teaspoon a day and I notice a difference so i stick to that

Always look at cause & effect. I finally stopped taking the capsules after realizing my legs would swell up
