Hi! Great video. How did you make the custom brushes for sculpting hair? Are these brushes in the 3 hour sculpting course? Thanks
Amazing. I love your use of real artistic reference. I feel like it has added an additional level of understanding for me. I don't see too many others in the digital art scene breaking it down this way and I see a lot of value in it. Thank you; it really elevates your content.
Thanks! I am glad you think so. I really think that studying the solutions of artists in the past accelerates our learning. It is all the same discipline, just different tools.
Cheers mate!
@@SmallRobotStudio I'm also amazed
I was honestly thinking of making hair into chunks like anime , until I realized this realistic way was possible
Finding your channel has been such a boone. Its not just that you get straight into the learning without too much fluff. You make the concepts feel not only approachable, but obvious. Also, just following your methodology has improved my workflow SO MUCH.
Im working in digital 3d for the first time, and even if I had perfect understanding of the program, I would have never realized to use the masking tool the way you use it. Yet it saves SO much time and effort, and for way better results. Thank you 🙏
Thank you so so much for the kind comment. I am glad that you found the videos helpful. If you share your work on social media please feel free to share it. I’d love to see your creations :)
@@SmallRobotStudio I've been taking a social media break, but I followed your instagram, and I'll tag you when I do eventually post. I made the skull book from your tutorial and I want to try your potion bottle one next~! :)
Thank you for this lovely tutorial. I was playing with tubes and thought that I may not use them right. I got one or two ideas from your video that I will implement in my newest sculpt for sure ❤️
I love your content! These tutorials are so helpful and straightforward. You do a great job explaining the process systematically.
Thank you kindly! I am glad you enjoy the videos and find them helpful ❤
Extremely useful and well explained! I love how the hair turned out! Thank you Erika!
Awh Thanks Ilaria! Glad you think so :)
Cheers!
I did not know about layers in nomad until this video. thank you!!
Amazing tutorials, really well presented - subscribed! It was a privilege to meet you guys yesterday. I was so impressed by your enthusiasm and passion for all things animation. Actually, my whole family were super impressed! It was so encouraging to meet such talented people. I'll definitely be making my way through your amazing channel. Joel
Hey Joel, was great meeting you and your family the other day :) Congrats on your work we just looked through your channel and it's all fantastic! Will be keeping a close eye on your stuff in future as you've got true potential and will likely be one of our bosses one day ;) Hope to see you around soon! - Michael & Erika
i really like your tutorials You do a real good job explaining! On top of that you have a lovely and passionate personality
Your videos have been extremely helpful! I became a Patreon supporter over the weekend and thank you.
Aaaaaa this was such a huge help!! This cleared things up so well
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
I love this. Really excited to get back into nomad.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you are feeling excited about the software :D
Very good and concise. I'll check your course. Thanks
Very nice. We could say The masters pull off material, we do the opposite. Very clever. I m not a good character modeler but the way you describe is really mind opening.
This looks great. It is a bit difficult to make hair but this makes really sense. Thanks Erika! 👏👍
Thank you for your constant support Carlos! It is difficult, the wavier/curlier that more difficult it is x_x
still fun though!
perfect tutorial! Love the content you put out you helped me so much
You are too kind. I am glad the videos have been helpful
Thank you. This is really very helpful. Off I go to find more of your tutorials!
very helpful tutorial, thank you so much
Fantastic tutorial!
Thank you Erica
Really good video. Thank you so much. Can I make a quesiton? Your clay brush is much smoother than mine one. Why? Mine one looks like the squares are too much sepparated
did you find the answer :D i'm just lookin for it
Do subdivision, it will be smooth
@@okan.cetinkaya do subdivision
This is mind blowing
You're a great explainer!
This is very helpful! Thank you!!!
Um...wow. Learned a lot from this video. Ty so much!
Thank you for the help this video helped out so much
Should you sepharate the hair part and the head part
Hi Erika, can you please make a complete video on how to make curly hair
Hi! Yes I definitely have the idea to because of its added complexity. I will probably add to the mix other tools like Blender that make the job easier
Thanks for this!
Awesome 😮😮😮
Gracias Erika justo estaba tratando de hacer un cabello y me había atascado :) me salvaste. Saludos y muchos éxitos ☺️☺️
Haha estamos coordinados Steven! Si subes tu trabajo a redes me encantaría verlo, puedes echarme el tag con @ErikaCasab

can you please tell me what settings your clay tool is in? cause, I seem to have a problem with the tapering of the clay strip, when I add it onto my mesh. thank you!
great tutorial, thank you!
Thank you!
Very well done!
Thank you! Cheers! :)
Thanks so much! Such a useful tutorial. :)
thank you, very helpful...
I love it
Yay! Thank you
How did you get to hair icon I don’t have it on the tools thanks
How did you make a hair brush tool?
oh my God ! so crazyyyyyy!!
Haha thanks mate! :D
Thanks
:) thank you for watching
All of these tools are exactly the same as 3D-Coat so the tutorial works for both programs.
Many thanks!
Glad to help! :)
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I found something weird, my nomad does not have that “hair” brush.
It's a custom brush she made.
How do you get Nomad’s clay tool to behave like that (e.g. at 3:12)? No matter how much I mess with the pen pressure curves for intensity or radius, I can’t get a smooth transition across the stroke like that. Maybe share you settings? Is there a special alpha?
ua-cam.com/video/lGGBcwBGG8E/v-deo.html here's a video that we made on how to create the brush
Great tut as always. I wonder if you have ever done rocks with nomad? I would love to see a video about rock sculpting.. Or at least some Tipps, cheers Gerhard
I tried to make the hair brush and even created a custom alpha but mine does not look as good as yours. Can you share how you made it, or is it in you class on gumroad?
Hey! I made some adjustments to the intensity and size curves. I don't show the settings on gumroad but I'll make a youtube short about it soon!
Thanks g
good day everyone and sorry for my bad english. can you tell me if there is a way to attach an image (photo) to an object? No background, but photo on the object. Thanks
Itˋs possible to import a obj file and to create a hairstyle on it for exporting only the hairstyle? Like 8-10 layers, which I could replacing with hair texture png files? Ìm looking for something like that 😄
Absolutely, when exporting you can choose the option 'Selected Only' then only the meshes you pick will come out. That's a very smart way to work :D
cool
Cool.
Glad you think so! Cheers :D
is it possible to unwrap flatten uv's with that kind of hair strands/sculpt?
Yes, but you'll need to decimate to get the polycount down or the unwrap will take days!
omg thank you so much!
I am happy to help :)
Is nomad sculpt a one time buy?
yes!
how do you get the tapered triangle shape with the clay tool?
What alpha are you usin with clay to get that thick to thin appearance?
Hello , may nomad, no have hair brush, where can i get that?
This is a custom brush. There is more info about on the Alphas tutorials
I have a problem, when I voxel merge 2 objects (e.g the hair and the head), my symmetry gets off by a little a bit causing me to have uneven symmetry and its a big headache getting it lined back. Is there a fix for this? Great video by the way!
Thanks for the kind comment!
Whenever symmetry gets funky check that your model is in the center position (the Gizmo tool menu has the option to do so). Otherwise in the sym menu change your sym from world to local, then it should only consider the center of the object and ignore everything else in the scene.
@@SmallRobotStudio Thank you so much for the reply, but I did change my symmetry from world to local and even then it is still off by a slight bit. My object isn't in the center position and moving it back there is kind of impossible, so I was wondering is there a way to do this, from where the object currently is located?
Buenísimo, gracias!
Gracias por el apoyo!!! Muchos saludos :)
I like to know how to do more curly coily afro
Thanks 👍👍👍😘😘😘
I am glad you liked it! Cheers!
Hi Erica, Please understand that I used the translator first. I have a question in this video. I don't have the hair tool that I use in the video, did you make it yourself? If you make it, can you tell me how to make it?
Hi! No worries, english is not my first language so no judgement from me.
The main tools I used are the tube tool, flatten tool, clay and crease. I made a few changes to the clay and crease tool so the behaviour helped my shapes a bit. I showed this in the Crease Tool video in the channel. It's honestly nothing fancy, regular clay and crease work just fine!
@@SmallRobotStudio hi! It looks like you use a modified version of the clay brush to do the large strips of hair? They look diamond shaped. Do you use a custom alpha for the brush? I’ve tried lots of settings but can’t get the effect in your video ! Love your videos and look forward to more - thanks!
Hello Erika, just a question. Why is your
head mesh of such incredibly high detail,
while you try to keep the hairmesh lower poly?
Do you plan to work on it later more and then re-topologize the end result?
Hi Darius, when sculpting, I work with highpoly to get as much detail as possible there. This isn't fit for animation or rendering of course. I'd later retopologize, project the detail into the new mesh, UV and with normal and displacements maps get the detail with a low poly count. All this is in other software aside from Nomad. But it all depends on what you are doing with the model. Cheers!
Hi! First good videos your model is just like you! Now I have a question. What is the pipeline if I want to create a normal map in Nomad Sculpt for a low poly model that I had imported from Maya or C4D and I had sculpt for high poly details
Hi! Thanks for your kind words :)
Atm Nomad cannot create Nornal maps. I'd probably sculpt in Nomad and take the model to another software that can do it. Not the best workflow though 🤔
@@SmallRobotStudio hmmm ok, thank you for your fast answer Erika, maybe with forger or similar? I'd like to integrate the iPad in my workflow to work far of my PC in sometimes,
@@Guyvruce I am honestly not familiar enough with Forger. The hard part is to create the details of the high poly model which you can do in Nomad but the actual texture normal map is easy to do if you have your low poly model uv'ed (just not through Nomad)
The iPad is still quite limited for a complete workflow you still need a PC
how is your user interface (UI) so large?
You seem to have plenty of space
are you using Nomad in Windows PC?
Nope, running on an iPad pro
Tut for your hair brush?
