The El Gato Utility detect my camlink and resolution etc.. But not show any on screen. If change the resolution in the camera the software too but u know Same with camera hub and OBS
My Cam Link wasn’t showing up in OBS so I had to open up the windows camera app and it worked! I love how you got straight to the point and had multiple suggestions/solutions. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much. That helped! I was rather surprised, that my cheap capture device ($20) did work, but Elgato did not. Checked the HDMI cables, tried different cables. Nothing. But the solution was rather simple. By accident I used an USB 2.0 port on my computer. Did work just fine with the cheap device. But Elgato despised it -- but just said "No Signal".
Great info. The simple restart/power off routine worked for me. But I am glad to see how many more things could go wrong. It gave me enough information to do some preemptive problem-solving so it hopefully doesn't happen again. Thank you!!
Adobe XD? I can not believe this, but, that solved my problem. I have been using cam link 4k for 3 years, same camera, same everything. On my Mac, after an update, I was seeing only a black screen. But it was working with my PC. After a few weeks and trying everything, here I hear adobe XD. I look, it's open, I close it, and now the cam link is working. There are tons of recourses pointing at all other factors, but it might have been only XD all that time. At least for me, it was. Thank You!
Thanks for this my first issue was the recorded video from Obs would have random glitches or gaps in the video. I was using a usb splitter so now I've plugged it directly now. Will test and see if it works
My camera did not show op in OBS or the 4K capture utility by Elgato (it was not even a option), but i checked in my camera privacy settings on windows and it was showing up there. In the camere setting it was telling me 4K capture utility had my camera in use even while it was closed, so i uninstalled the program and that fixed it for me.
So I couldn’t go more than 5 min without cam link freezing I tried everything you said but heard you talking about wires I decided to take out the extender that comes with the cam link and plug it in without it and today for first time I went a whole live stream without a freeze fingers crossed and hope this was it thank you for the video hope this comment helps someone else too
EDIT: I FIXED IT. I had multiple different sources using the 'Camlink' capture device in different scenes. It looks like a different layer was getting access first then it disabled the other layers from getting access. I simplified all scenes to use the same exact source and now it works consistently. My issue is weird, it works fine, but if I open and close OBS Studio it will just not appear. I have to open and close OBS Studio again to get it to appear. Before this, it use to work completely fine for years. Deactivating and activating doesn't make it reappear on the instances it's unrecognized too. Any ideas? Just found in my log, DShow: Run failed (0x800705AA): Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service. Which is strange, that it would change from working to not working just be restarting OBS Studio.
If you're getting a black screen with your cam link plugged in. It may need a reset and all you have to do is unplug the cam link for a minute. Then plug it back in to your PC
Here's a new one! I went into Device Manager, saw Cam Link and it was listed as a USB Audio Device, meaning it would only capture audio! So now I'm trying to fix that. Ugh. Thanks for your help in at least finding that. Let's see if an uninstall and restart works.
I was facing this camera freezing a lot and after updating the bios on my x570 motherboard i started facing less lag while using the camera hub software. I thought they got rid of the utility one and now when i figured out that they still have it i will go back to it because back in the days i had 0 issues with it.
+1 Adobe XD... December 5, 2022, and this seem like an active issue... I use the Cam Link 4k for the overkill video conferencing while WFH. Running macOS, I would have voice call meetings with my setup running perfectly, and for unknown reasons, the next call wouldn't work. Troubleshoot everything, cables, computers, cameras... I could get things to work but not isolate the cause of the persistent random "no signal" issues. Finally had enough today and ran into this video... 4:20 in, and the XD logo comes onto the screen... I look over to my taskbar, and there is my open artboard... I close the artboard and cycle power on my camera, and there it goes. @JuggleboyMinus please add Adobe XD to your description or other metadata on this video... people may be searching for this and your video deserves to be found.
Hey man, great video. Just curious if you've ever heard of an issue where the camlink lights up solid white (signifying a stable connection) but the camlink isn't recognised at all by the PC? Not showing up in device manager at all and not showing up in any Elgato software. This is driving me nuts haha
Hm, that seems to be one that I never encountered. My first suggestion would be to try it on a different USB port, and then on a different computer and see if you can get it to be recognized. If a different computer can't recognize it, it's probably something wrong with the camlink itself, in which case I would recommend contacting elgato at that point.
I have the face cam pro. When I stream in obs using virtual camera with background blur through camera hub it freezes and stutters during some gameplay
the person recommended the powered usb hub not to make the connection better, but to allow you to use it on multiple computers without sacrificing the data...
OMG I was so clueless!😭 And thanks to you, my Cam Link 4k problem was finally solved. Command prompt and uninstalling the device from the Device Manager helped me :) Thank you very much!💕
i use a Canon Rebel T6 and with my cam link it doesn't stay "active" unless i fiddle with the cam link cable or if i delete my source on OBS and put it back again
Hey man great video. I have I problem I press CNTRL like you said in the video but the menu is the same It dosen't show up the menu for the USB where I can select "ISOCHRONUS MODE" I'm struggling with this because I'm very near for the solution, I use camera hub for this the 4K utility said that device is not found. I was checking this because I have an interview on stremyard and after 12 minutes my ELGATO CAMLINK 4K is linked on my SONY ZV-E10 and then it goes down it show "ELGATO NO SIGNAL", and I don't know why. It could be dangerous during an interview session. Can you help me?
if you record video directly in mirrorless camera, and then record the same video from the camera using camlink and OBS, will the quality (brightness, color etc) of the video be the same...?
Mine turns on when connected, after 5 seconds, it turns off, but it's still recognized in OBS. No image, no sound, no nothing. Plugged it in different computer, I Uninstalled it, it's on USB 3.0, alone, but no image. Whatsoever
If your problem was fixed from something I talked about in the video, make sure to let us know what it was in the comments!
The El Gato Utility detect my camlink and resolution etc.. But not show any on screen.

USB 3.0 wasn't fast enough for 4k video apparently, needed a 3.2. Just switched the ports and it worked like a charm!
2 Years later, Thanks for the video. I overlooked multiple instances.

Big thank you. Point about conflicting software (XD) actually worked. Running MBP M2 Pro 2023 w/ Sony A6600 in case anyone else is still struggling.
I was about to go into a scheduled stream and this video saved me, thank you!
This is a brilliant. Thank you!
It seems like Adobe XD was causing trouble. Never would have thought.
Amazing! My issue was Problem #1 - I was using a USB extension that was recommended for this setup but it is not blue!
This is ULTIMATE man, I've been having the craziest issues man.
Really thought mine was broken. Thanks. USB3.0 port needed to be used (isn't said anywhere) in combination with mini-HDMI port in my Sony A3
This time, my cam was open on another scene so i just deleted it and redid it Thank you!
Thanks for this my first issue was the recorded video from Obs would have random glitches or gaps in the video. I was using a usb splitter so now I've plugged it directly now. Will test and see if it works
Thank you for this video. It turns out running OBS while DavinciResolves was open was causing my issue.

First solution fixed it for me bud. Thanks!
Chaning the usb port fixed my problem! thank you so much!

how i can check which sources using my cam link?
OMG i had the multiple instances of camera, thank you!!
I love your videos man! 👍😁
It was Adobe XD !!!!!!! Incredible, thanks man
4:07 you're a life saver! just installed this piece of sh*t, and it broke everything! thanks a lot!
mine was the multiple obs instances. thanks!
I found it doesn't like the new 8k or 4k 120hz+ hdmi cables, keeps freezing, but works fine with a cheap old hdmi

There is also a CamLink instance in the Cameras section in Device Manager.
@@ultraanalyst a little late. ElGato is replacing it as defective.

@Juggleboy Minus yeah it looks like it was a Cam Link issue. I bought a new one and its all good now

super super helpful thank you very much
What if I want to be running the conflicting software?

This shit is not working : (
I have a x570 TUF Gaming wifi plus motherboard. I had to do a BIOS update. OBS froze every time I pressed started recording before the update.
Hi my cam link stops working after a min (the light turn off). I don't see anywhere someone talking about it. Any ideas? It is USB 3.0
so i finally fixed it and it was settings that needs to be changed on the camera itself so it won't go to sleep mode.
Where can I find a camlink software that supports 10.13?
my probably was that i had to switch it a different usb port
My issues is, the cam link start giving me a blurry look. everything use to work great
Thanks a lot
if you record video directly in mirrorless camera, and then record the same video from the camera using camlink and OBS, will the quality (brightness, color etc) of the video be the same...?
I think that also depends on your obs recording setting so too. If u match the resolution of obs to your camera and the bitrate probably
