hello dears!! imho, this setting is about 2 patients in a residential phych place, which i affectionately call 'happy land', who meet in secret for solace when they can escape the staff. just an idea. i been in happy land and knowing what i do of ren''s back story, it was obvious to me, but that don't mean i'm right. and fyi: chinchilla can almost literally knock your socks off, so go for it, dudes! kathleen bts renegade

The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers.
This song always reminds that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️

It’s an older song from before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and beautiful.

Oh yeah, crutch, I almost forgot this gem, but I remember the first time listening, bibi's first words just hit so hard, because I was reminded of all the times when I could have profited from hearing those three words, and they are so simple.
Beautiful song. No words for it. Tears only. But there is a lot of hope in it.
15 years of different medications. 15 years, so many hospitalizations for both mental and physical. 15 years of NOTHING working. Finally, FINALLY, got diagnosed "functional neurological disorder".
My brain is basically f*cked at a cellular level. Medications do not work, will not work, can not work. I am the physical manifestation of "can not handle" stress from a lifetime of "bad shit happened".
I've heard this song numerous times, so many times, and I still get goosebumps because I felt this way too much. I want to be okay, but it's starting to sink in I won't be and nothing will fix it.
So, new habits to drown shit out because I won't be able to do what has helped before, even if the new habits are just for a little bit.
Don’t want to freak you out more than you already are but FND is basically we don’t know WTF is going on. Get tested for Lyme disease with Armin or IGenix
@craigbullard8163 been tested for Lyme, lead poisoning, Ms, Parkinson, lupus, and a bunch of other things. I found some scientific articles about FND. I don't just have FND, it's "complex FND with multiple subtypes" bc of the range and severity of my symptoms, what they mimic and having *every* single test come back "normal". This is what my specialist neurologist has told me.
I can no longer drive, my vision looks like I'm looking out of a fishbowl, I'm either hot or freezing, seizures, muscle spasms, cognitive issues, speech issues, chest pain, partial paralysis, weakness to the point of falling... it goes on and on. Not all at once, but every day is like Russian roulette.
It's extremely difficult to deal with, but I'm learning to recognize the beginning of symptoms before they totally lay me out. It's frustrating bc of how bad my symptoms are.
I literally just want to learn how to function. There is a clinic near me that is just for FND. But it's still hard to get answers of how to deal since meds can't treat them.
The hardest line in the song is “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change” cry every time! With love 💕

Chronic illness is a fucking beast. The entire process is traumatizing from the medical gaslighting to the tests to the cost to meds to the side effects (hello cancer screenings) to the mental strain to the constant state of stress to the point your body shuts down just to stay alive and looking down the tunnel knowing you’ve still got another 50years of this ahead unless it kills me first. It’s brutal.

I went 10 years and I don’t know how many docs for severe headaches. I was diagnosed with everything but nothing helped. My doc finally threw his hands up and said I don’t know what’s wrong with you but we’ll get an MRI. The neurologist who did it said well, you have low-lying cerebellar tonsils but that can’t be causing your headaches. I went home crying which induced a headache (any physical exertion did) and sat at my computer and typed in those words he said. It popped up on the screen “Chari Malformation”. Never heard of it but had all the symptoms. I was so happy! Then I had to find a doc who specialized in it. I found one 7 hours away who agreed to see me and I brought my MRIs to him. He said I had it and needed surgery immediately or I would become paralyzed. I had brain surgery and my first vertebrae removed. It was crazy that I had to do my own research after 10 years of “doctors” and all kinds of meds. My first doctor even had the nerve to say “it’s all in your head” which was true…my cerebellar tonsils had herniated and were stuffed down my spinal cord so yeah, it was in my head! 🙄

This song is so meaningful, intense, and just so damn good. Ren is my favorite artist I discovered last year and he’s so talented, quite endlessly talented and her voice on this song is the icing on the cake. What I love about Ren is that he’s like no one else. He’s relatable, not afraid to talk about the heavy, and one of the most magical storytellers. If you haven’t heard violet’s tale, Jenny, screech, money game pt 1,2 or 3, Genesis, he’s pure gold.

Amazing reaction. Sorry to hear about what went through when you were younger. My husband and I were also prescribed medication with horrible side effects. So you are correct in that many of us can relate. Ren posted a video when he reached his one million subscribers and asked that the medical industry needs to do better. I wanna recommend another great duet: 'Ren ft. Bibi - Crutch'. A heartbreaking, beautiful and deep song. Absolutely underrated in my opinion. Has a great no-budget video as well. "Crutch" dates back to a time when Ren thought he wouldn't live much longer. Bibi was his girlfriend at that time and started a GoFundMe to raise donations for his treatment/diagnosis.
I completely understand your frustration with drs. I had cancer in 2010. And then two years ago got long term Covid. So the combination of what chemo did to me and long term Covid = I’m all fuc ed up. And for two years they don’t know what to do with me. So I’m almost bed bound at 42 with 5 kids. This is why rens music touches me so deeply. I have to take the damn meds to stay alive. But there are days that I’m so mad about it. Just Fing cure me!! Sorry, off the soap box

I just found u guys and less than halfway in I subbed for 2 reasons. 1, because of ur backgrounds in the indastry. It gives u a unique take on the subject at hand. My husband is a drummer and I've been around long enough to appreciate the level of talent, dedication and knowledge it takes to craft not only a song but also to create the video to go with it then bring it to life to the point u pull the audience into it. 2 because yes Dr do suck! I've been I'll from the age of 12- present day ( 49) and have been through the ringer with the whole pill thing! Love the analysis of the video and ear for true talent.❤

I had a mystery illness for years just like Ren. I was finally diagnosed in my mid 20s after being sick since birth. That illness unfortunately causes a lot of secondary stuff so it's a freaking fight all the time to understand what's going on. I have a lot of anger for what doctors put me through that was entirely unnecessary. I relate to Ren so much as do most of us in the chronic illness community. Great reaction!
