That is a two way street, so to speak. Yes the birds may now be getting fresh bugs, but you could have also cut down their nests. Same thing with the little critters. They would be hiding in there. I know this is happening in my neighborhood. Every one is cutting down their trees. We don't even half the birds we used to. The squirrels are almost gone. They use to be all over the place. Now we are seeing rabbits more then them. They are coming out of the ground. Also up the street and around the corner there is a little park. Trees around a baseball field. They cut all of the old trees down. These poor animals have no where to go. I live in the city and we even have deer coming out at night.

in fact, the unmown mini-wilderness is MUCH more productive for small wildlife including birds, but the happy little opportunists {grackles or something?] certainly score big time in situations like this - similar to the birds that follow large herbivores around in Africa catching all the disturbed/confused/damaged insects etc..

That woman is the prime example of why the city council should be ashamed of themselves for not taking care of the sidewalk at a minimum. So answer me this. The property bought by the home owner is actually to the middle of the road. Yet the city decides to place the road there and the side walk. The owner can't do anything about it. The home owner pays city taxes for the city to take care of the road and sidewalks. Yet they should be fined for the city actually doing the city's job? Why isn't the city paying the home owner for use of their land? As well as the city paying the home owner for maintaining the sidewalks? I had this discussion this morning with my mom who lives in a city. I live in the country and the things like this amuses me. Food for thought.

@@realMDLawnCare There are a lot of reviews here on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/PylNCZr06dY/v-deo.html&pp=ygUnb3JlZ29uIG11bGNoaW5nIGJsYWRlIGZvciBicnVzaCBjdXR0ZXIg I run one on my Stihl FS130R and couldn't be happier. The fact that they actually drop all the cuttings as small pieces you can basically leave in place as mulch is a huge time-saver. I really like my Greenworks battery-powered string trimmer for light work and around walls or fences, but for heavy brush, overgrown yards, small trees, and berry patches, you'll find nothing better than the Oregon mulching blade. Why they aren't advertised here in the States is a mystery, but at least you can get them through Amazon and Ebay. For as economical as they are, you'll be real glad to have one in the arsenal.

Nice. Those birds are funny, sitting and watching you, then coming down to inspect the ground, then lifting off again, watching :-) Suppose they are after the bugs.

This is going to do the neighborhood a lot of good. In the area of 13:42, you have already made a major change. The front is becoming neat and blends in with the neighborhood. You made a huge shift in the place. Enjoyed seeing the design lines found, as the walkway and planting bed, front fence. Nice to see the space in the backyard. A very good job done. That the elder immediately used the now-navigable sidewalk was pretty impressive.

What made this job worth it all seems to me- seeing that lady able to stay off the road and safely use the sidewalk! Way to help out the neighborhood, very kind and generous of you two men. Fun to see a father and son work together and especially doing something lovely for other people.

Bless you both for doing this! Cleaning the sidewalk alone was a great help for elderly and handicapped. It's a shame that a place like this is left to rot when there are homeless families living in tents!

He was there peeping through the fence next door and barking the whole time, even peeped over the fence in the backyard at the end. If it were any lower he might have jumped on over lol.

You know it's still a home and a yard until they tear it down. Just because it has boarded up Windows in Long Grass doesn't mean that you should forget. The neighborhood suffers with this type of neglect. God bless you for caring

I got excited while watching the before shots because I knew it was machete time, yay! The pick ax was a special treat. I swear there isn't a disgusting overgrown yard that's safe from this hard working duo! I want to not only compliment you on your work ethic, but also on your attire. I am so thankful that you protect your bodies from head to toe.
