    Use CODE FROKNOWS15 at www.64audio.com/ until September 2nd 2016 to get 15% OFF your purchase.
    Have you ever wondered what type of headphones I use while editing photos / video or when I am reading or traveling? I use what's called a Custom In Ear Monitor and have been for the last three or so years.
    Recently I reached out to 64 Audio to see if I could try out a pair of there in ears. They decided to set me up with a pair of A12's for review and being that they are custom only to my ears, I get to keep them.
    What makes a custom in ear monitor so much better then a pair or Beats by Dre or any other over the ear headphone is the fact that it's custom molded to your ear. Beyond that it sounds a million times better.
    I use my A12s when flying but more importantly when I am editing photos or editing video. For video it's great because you can hear the audio as it's supposed to be heard.
    Another place I use my A12s is at the coffee shop when i'm reading. For whatever reason, wearing a pair of these and listening to music while reading has allowed me to finally enjoy reading books. I get lost in the book as no outside noise distracts me while my music is playing.
    Yes $2,000 is expensive for a paid of headphones but if you're looking for a pair of custom in ear monitors for yourself they start at $499. You can even get a universal fit pair for $399 which will blow any Beats out of the water.
    I wonder if they will upgrade the tech in these and come out with a bluetooth version. Personally i'm waiting for the all digital headphone jack to replace the 3.5mm.

    Love how haters that can't afford these are downvoting the video. I wouldn't get these because I can't justify the purchase but it is nice to see that it solves a problem for you. I have weirdly shaped ears so hardly any in-ear headphone work for me so I can appreciate this. Things that solve problems are priceless, in my opinion.

      Do you think its smart to promote $2k headphones if the the people that follow you bitch about your videos prices as it is? Most of the these are trying to get started business wise. Im not feeling it so that makes me a hater? %90 of these guys are common folks. Most of us are not living in a loft or drives a porsche (joke)or can buy buildings with cash. (true) Why not get $999 from some folks on here for workshop. Thumbs up for that. Hey Fro stop deleting comments when people have a difference of opinion. THANKS! Mayor of Fishtown.

    When 64 Audio came out with the second eardrum technology, I was immediately hooked with the product. I currently own a set of MEE Audio M6 Pro IEM's and I can confirm what Jared says, after a couple hours your ears get tired and get strained because of the pressure in your ear canal since there is no moving air, it's sealed. 64 Audio have changed the playing field and the cost will be well worth it.

    Great video as always. What do you mean by the 'pressure' in your ears? Is it like a physical pressure (feeling like something is pushing your ear) or do your ears just get tired from the sound? I have a pair of shure se425 currently and was thinking about custom iems, but I can't decide between UE and 64.

    • @froknowsphoto
      @froknowsphoto  8 років тому

      Pretty much the build up of pressure leads to ear fatigue for me. That doesn't happen with the 64's.

  • @MattisProbably
    @MattisProbably 8 років тому +1

    Yeah, for 2000 bucks they really have to be worth it :)
    I'm not really an audiphile either. I like to buy good headphones for a price around 100 bucks and I did go the extra mile and got a Sound Blaster from Creative when I built my PC instead of using the onboard soundcard. That's about what I like to invest into my audio stuff. Usually the difference in audio quality isn't worth spending thousands of Euro monnies in my opinion.
    I just like to spend a little more because that stuff lasts longer. I used my previous Sony headphones for 7 years and they actually still work! I have them in the closet. The problem is just that the pads ripped and replacements are expensive because these headphones went out of production.
    Also, better equipment is better for your ears.

  • @TrevorMarty69
    @TrevorMarty69 8 років тому

    I have always wanted a pair of in ears for the shows I do. I have pro musician and sound-person friends who swear by them. Not only do they put the sound (bam) in your head but they can also protect your hearing. Standing on a stage with giant amps everywhere hitting your ears can be dangerous to your hearing. With 'in ears' it doesn't have to be as loud. If you're editing sound they'd be good, but don't forget to run your mix on other speakers. People are going to be listening on all sorts of different speaker set ups. If you mix just for head phones it won't sound the same on tiny lap top speakers, or whatever the persons listening to it on.

    • @froknowsphoto
      @froknowsphoto  8 років тому +2

      Why would they not be? That's not a joke. I don't want to have apple ear buds in my ears or something that doesn't one feel good, sound good or keep the outside noise out.
      I spend good money on good glass, im going to spend good money on good audio.

    what are the befits of this over regular ear phones like the apple air pods. majority of consumers output their media via cheap ear phones, monitor speakers, or headphones(usually even worse than Beats), so why would I need to hear the different levels when editing video? sorry if that comes off rather brash but I really wasn't sure how else to structure it.

    • @froknowsphoto
      @froknowsphoto  8 років тому +7

      Why would you need to hear anything different? You either want great sound or you don't.
      Or lets put it this way. The majority of the people in the world who take pictures only use there cell phone, so why shouldn't I use a cell phone to shoot shitty photos also?

    • @gorillacowman1
      @gorillacowman1 8 років тому +1

      +Jared Polin I don't think that your cell phone analogy is that good. It would be more like editing your photos on a awful monitor where they will turn out with messed up colours. But I still think that having good headphones or speakers is important for editing audio since it allows you to get the picture of how the mix sounds. Personally I would not pay much more than 600$ on headphones because of diminishing returns of audio quality.

      Because Jared is not an audiophile or any type of expert on this subject. But because he's an "internet influencer" he gets stuff like this for free as long as he mentions the product to his followers. Nothing wrong with it, but audiophile peeps are not happy when non experts review things like this. Probably the same way Jared feels when Ken Rockwell reviews a camera he knows nothing about.

    • @SpeckyNation
      @SpeckyNation 8 років тому

      Well, first of all he mentions that he's not an audiophile in the very video posted above and secondly it DOES take talent to be able to hear the difference between cheap or expensive audio gear. I'm not knocking Jared at all. If I had the following he had and was offered a deal like this I'd jump all over it too.

      Matt Singer I have this www.filmtools.com/filmtools-3025-plus-triangulation-kit.html. You can also DIY it if you want or get a cheaper one elsewhere. Make sure the camera car is something with soft suspension. Only thing you have to worry about is focus and exposure length. Might need some ND filters on a bright day. Focus you can sort of set ahead of time since you will know how far the other car will be but exposure will vary depending on light, speed etc. You don't have to be going any faster than 25mph to get get some really nice motion blur and it's a lot easier at slower speeds. On a bright day, I would set to ISO100, f/8 or more and shutter to whatever the light allows. You'll have to play with that and do some test shots to see what works. Shutter speed you can also test ahead of time. Hope that helps.

    Review was fine. But the part of you "showing" how they go & look on your ears is as bad as it gets. All I see is the hair. 'Sup with that?? That's like the only thing we can actually see that can help one decide if they look good or not. As you said, we will have to take your word for how they sound, ok cool. But at least let us see how they look. Hair, all we got to see was hair.
    Your reviews and videos are great, learned a lot, appreciate it all. But if your going to do all this quality as you have done, then it must be recognized, this video does not fall under that.

      IEM's are meant for musicians and their crews who are touring and beat them to hell. I don't have any fancy 200-500 dollar set but I do have a $50 set of M6 Pro IEM's and they are well built. If you are concerned with the wire connectors popping out, they don't move and the only time when you need to pop the monitors off the wires is if you need to replace them.
