the fact that even with a whole orchestra, home is still played as a simple piano solo touches my heart - its not a grand affair, just a simple welcome home
I might be biased based on my 7 years of piano lesson as a kid, but the piano is a truly fantastic instrument. Being able to play both a beat & a melody at the same time makes the instrument a true "one man band." Piano can sound soothing, foreboding, angry, or elated. In the case of Megalovania? That synthesizer sounds like a combination of all four! 😂❤
@@Secret_Takodachi while I agree that the piano is a great instrument, it can't do everything by itself (for example it lacks wide tone colour). Additionally, most instruments can have a wide variety of emotion; the one section I know of the best is the brass section.
I can’t believe they added the laugh to the Your Best Nightmare section. Being in that giant area and hearing that was either absolutely amazing, or absolutely terrifying.
I'm sure every member of this orchestra played and rehearsed each song over and over again. But even after hearing it and playing it multiple times, I love how you can tell there are some legit fans of Undertale just by how their faces light up or they have this pleasant nostalgic smile with each song they perform.
Fallen Down was the first song I learnt (that wasn't hot cross buns lol) on my clarinet. I have played it multiple times now but I can't get over that song! It's just so beautiful. Edit: I think my family (Mainly my parents) friend me super annoying now, though.

51:55 I love how everyone had such serious faces all throughout the entire production, even on some of the more silly songs. But then you can just see those little cracks of a smile seep through the players as soon as they start playing Undertale. That speaks volumes!
Well it is Toby Fox’s magnum opus. It’s the song that he put the most love into. He actually rewrote it like 3-5 times to get it just how he envisioned it. Sure brings a tear to my eye 🥲

The way this GRABBED me by the damn THROAT and pulled me right back into those times id watch every gameplay, download all the best versions of my favorite tracks and listened to it on repeat. The way i just know id have been bawling my eyes out had i ever had the chance to be in that concert hall and listen to it live. Theyd have to kick me out after undynes theme id just start screaming i swear. "Cringe culture" can bleed its heart out this game is a treasure and nothing will change my mind. This is a legacy.
Every form of Mettaton’s themes (its showtime, metal crusher etc.) makes me almost cry and want to be able to experience Undertale for the first time again.
Yoooooo another mettaton fan! I agree, I’m relatively new to the game and fandom, but even though I really only played it for the first time a month ago, I still wish I could go back. I’m on my 8th pacifist run in a row, trying to feel the same excitement over defeating Undyne or determination during the Omega Flowey phase 2 battle during Finale. Still wishing that there was a way that i didn’t have to hurt Mettaton in order to get passed him, or that Asriel could have had a happier ending.

@TrumpetBogeyMan i had the chance to work with professional orchestras a few times for school, and honestly, they're not exactly a smiley bunch, lol. a lot of people, including myself, feel a bit hurt the first time their music is played by an orchestra because the musicians can seem pretty detached and unaffected. but you eventually get over it and realize they're just being professional
Man I don’t even play undertale. 50:01 still made me cry tho it’s a beautiful piece of music. Toby Fox is a fucking beast at composing, I used to not be able to listen to “Moonsetter” without crying. Spectacular playing by the band too of course.
i just play undertale earlier this year, yet i still cry bc how amazing all the soundtracks are especially Undertale also Hopes and Dreams. Regret that i don't play it back then in 2015 like most people.

Undertale was a indie game made by some guy, so no matter how good it was (btw I'm not hating on it its one of my fave games of all time) he won't have the publicity and influence to keep it popular for as long as mario.

21:29 Out of all of these amazing songs that have come to life thanks to the orchestra, I think Waterfall/Quiet Water might be my favorite out of all of them. The strings in this add so much to the composition it's insane. This is one of the tracks I think the orchestration outdoes the original in almost every way. Absolutely beautiful. Edit : Looking back, I think every orchestrated version of all the songs in the Waterfall section of the game are the highlight of the concert for me. Run! and Spear of Justice stand out a ton as well. Just great stuff overall.
i've listened to the whole concert so many times, and sometimes i get chills for almost every song, sometimes i don't get them for almost any of them. But every single time, Waterfall sends chills right down my spine. It is so amazingly orchestrated here.
i’m not exactly sure why but one of the songs covered here that makes me the most emotional is small shock at 1:13:00 … it is such a small and insignificant part of the game and the ost yet i’ve never skipped it when listening to the ost. seeing it get extended and turned into something so beautiful in this has made me tear up on so many occasions
i remember really feeling compelled by Small Shock during my first full listen of the OST, what they did with it here made it SO beautiful, all from such a simple start
Small Shock is a great example of something I think Toby really excels at; distilling extremely specific and complicated emotions into very simple sounds and themes. Memory is the ghosts of a happier time, still playing in the fields and jumping in puddles. An Ending is achieving the goal you had set out to achieve from the start, and yet knowing something is missing. Small Shock is the moment a grieving father meets another child he knows he has no choice but to kill. It's just a single note, repeated - and yet it tells you everything you need to know.
1:13:00 Small Shock isn't talked about enough. This part is such a small part of the original soundtrack, but the orchestral rendition of this is so beautiful, whimsical and gentle to listen to. This is by far my favorite part of the piece.
Whoever arranged this obviously really has a thing for Heartache/ASGORE, and pretty much any bits where they feature are some of the best bits in the whole damn thing. Small Shock included. I think the only bits I liked even close to as much as those were Waterfall and An Ending.

Legit got choked up at the beginning. This one little game effected me so much back in high school and I owe it a lot to the music. I probably wouldn’t be going to school following my dream to become an animator if this game didn’t exist.

I don't think the principal cellist gets enough recognition for his enthusiasm and overall spirit during some of the songs, especially Death by Glamour. In general this is amazing.

When I first watched this during the live stream, I wondered why they would end with Start Menu, and it just hit me now that after MEALOVANIA the sound is the post-genocide nothingness, then Start Menu plays because the player erased the data and is about to start the whole thing over again.
I think the lack of other instruments means more that it's post making-a-deal-with-Chara, so no matter what you do... it's not going to end well. Ergo the lights were still off and trailed into something that was more or less senseless (two instruments making a melody to one just keeping a beat).
This never fails to make me cry. It serves as a personal reminder that there always is and was others out there who feel as alone as I do- people who do great things with this kind of talent to orchestrate it. I can't put into words how incredible it feels to know that no one in that room sat there and actively hated what they were doing and that's what makes it so special. I hope others can understand what I mean when I say I feel less lonely when listening to this.
5 years is a bit soon for Nostalgia.... undertale is still considered a "new ish" game.. now go back 10 years and theres some major tech downgrades.... and soundtracks that were 100% forgotten

I literally just posted about this after crying nonstop for about 2 minutes thinking about how blessing of a life it's been so far. Sure life isn't perfect, but to live in the small brief history of mankind to experience this game when it came out truly is a blessing. To be born now rather than during the Mongolian invasion, Spanish Inquisition, World Wars, Black Plague, and everything in between. We truly are lucky to be alive.

1:19:40 I love how Hopes and Dreams, SAVE the world, and his theme all transition beautifully into the next. All of them are such amazing songs and are definitely my top 3! They make you feel like you're the one that's pushing past your limits in order to to save your friends.

There's something about this orchestra/soundtrack/everything that's so provocative - hearing Hopes and Dreams, seeing every single and different musician in unison move according to their instruments, knowing what the song means for mercy and healing. If angels really do celebrate humanity's healing, I think their music would sound just like this.

I'm sure every member of this orchestra played and rehearsed each song over and over again. But even after hearing it and playing it multiple times, I love how you can tell there are some legit fans of Undertale just by how their faces light up or they have this pleasant nostalgic smile with each song they perform.
Fallen Down was the first song I learnt (that wasn't hot cross buns lol) on my clarinet. I have played it multiple times now but I can't get over that song! It's just so beautiful.
Edit: I think my family (Mainly my parents) friend me super annoying now, though.

Yoooooo another mettaton fan! I agree, I’m relatively new to the game and fandom, but even though I really only played it for the first time a month ago, I still wish I could go back. I’m on my 8th pacifist run in a row, trying to feel the same excitement over defeating Undyne or determination during the Omega Flowey phase 2 battle during Finale. Still wishing that there was a way that i didn’t have to hurt Mettaton in order to get passed him, or that Asriel could have had a happier ending.
This makes Hopes And Dreams so much more powerful.

@TrumpetBogeyMan i had the chance to work with professional orchestras a few times for school, and honestly, they're not exactly a smiley bunch, lol. a lot of people, including myself, feel a bit hurt the first time their music is played by an orchestra because the musicians can seem pretty detached and unaffected. but you eventually get over it and realize they're just being professional

21:29 Out of all of these amazing songs that have come to life thanks to the orchestra, I think Waterfall/Quiet Water might be my favorite out of all of them. The strings in this add so much to the composition it's insane. This is one of the tracks I think the orchestration outdoes the original in almost every way. Absolutely beautiful.
Edit : Looking back, I think every orchestrated version of all the songs in the Waterfall section of the game are the highlight of the concert for me. Run! and Spear of Justice stand out a ton as well. Just great stuff overall.

i’m not exactly sure why but one of the songs covered here that makes me the most emotional is small shock at 1:13:00 … it is such a small and insignificant part of the game and the ost yet i’ve never skipped it when listening to the ost. seeing it get extended and turned into something so beautiful in this has made me tear up on so many occasions

i remember really feeling compelled by Small Shock during my first full listen of the OST, what they did with it here made it SO beautiful, all from such a simple start
Small Shock is a great example of something I think Toby really excels at; distilling extremely specific and complicated emotions into very simple sounds and themes.
Memory is the ghosts of a happier time, still playing in the fields and jumping in puddles. An Ending is achieving the goal you had set out to achieve from the start, and yet knowing something is missing. Small Shock is the moment a grieving father meets another child he knows he has no choice but to kill.
It's just a single note, repeated - and yet it tells you everything you need to know.
This rendition of Waterfall and Quiet Water are so breathtakingly beautiful, oh my god

1:13:00 Small Shock isn't talked about enough. This part is such a small part of the original soundtrack, but the orchestral rendition of this is so beautiful, whimsical and gentle to listen to. This is by far my favorite part of the piece.
Whoever arranged this obviously really has a thing for Heartache/ASGORE, and pretty much any bits where they feature are some of the best bits in the whole damn thing. Small Shock included. I think the only bits I liked even close to as much as those were Waterfall and An Ending.

Legit got choked up at the beginning. This one little game effected me so much back in high school and I owe it a lot to the music. I probably wouldn’t be going to school following my dream to become an animator if this game didn’t exist.

I don't think the principal cellist gets enough recognition for his enthusiasm and overall spirit during some of the songs, especially Death by Glamour. In general this is amazing.

When I first watched this during the live stream, I wondered why they would end with Start Menu, and it just hit me now that after MEALOVANIA the sound is the post-genocide nothingness, then Start Menu plays because the player erased the data and is about to start the whole thing over again.
I think the lack of other instruments means more that it's post making-a-deal-with-Chara, so no matter what you do... it's not going to end well. Ergo the lights were still off and trailed into something that was more or less senseless (two instruments making a melody to one just keeping a beat).

This never fails to make me cry.
It serves as a personal reminder that there always is and was others out there who feel as alone as I do- people who do great things with this kind of talent to orchestrate it. I can't put into words how incredible it feels to know that no one in that room sat there and actively hated what they were doing and that's what makes it so special.
I hope others can understand what I mean when I say I feel less lonely when listening to this.

My favorite moment of this entire concert is that tiny xylophone at the end of Bonetrousle. Perfection.
I can't get over the fact that they beautifully incorporated "she's playing piano" into "spear of justice." Like, they sped it up to perfection and blended them together so nicely. I literally can't appreciate it enough. 31:49

I literally just posted about this after crying nonstop for about 2 minutes thinking about how blessing of a life it's been so far. Sure life isn't perfect, but to live in the small brief history of mankind to experience this game when it came out truly is a blessing. To be born now rather than during the Mongolian invasion, Spanish Inquisition, World Wars, Black Plague, and everything in between. We truly are lucky to be alive.

There's something about this orchestra/soundtrack/everything that's so provocative - hearing Hopes and Dreams, seeing every single and different musician in unison move according to their instruments, knowing what the song means for mercy and healing. If angels really do celebrate humanity's healing, I think their music would sound just like this.
