  • This is my own design based on the air bike 103 ultralight. I spent many hours looking at pictures of this plane and coming up with my own design. This plane has a 60" wing and weighs 2500 grams. I am running a Badass 2826 780kv motor on a 6000mah 3s.
    Testing between a 13x8x3 and a 15x7x3 propeller. I've done some changes since the end of this video on the elevator that I'm sure will fix my previous issue. More to come on this neat plane!

    Your ability to go back to the drawing board without being upset is inspiring! Im building my first rc plane and will remember how you react when i fail.

    One thing that I do is set the elevator control arm on top of the control surface so that the survos is pulling to go up.
    I've had the same issue with some of my planes. Especially being that you are not planning to fly this inverted, having the survo set to pull may be a quick fix.
    Great looking plane! I think this will be a great flying plane once the elevator is sorted!

      @@airplane-mode8577 that's a good idea. I didn't do that this time but I did fix the elevator issue. Once I fixed that I found another equally important issue that you'll see in a upcoming video. This plane has taught me a lot even after 30+ builds of my own design, there's still things to learn!

    Trial and error, I only have one foam board plane and it's frustrating I couldn't get it to fly right even if it was a kit.
    But the design looks great, I know you'll make it fly right.

      @@A.M.-RC yep exactly. Not every design works perfectly from the start. This one is probably the most complicated plane I've built. So far I've discovered two issues that were pretty major. And fixed them both. I've got several more videos coming up. This plane should do great!

    Dang glad you didn’t beat it up to bad. That thing is nice bro. Looks awesome.. I’d go with a 4S battery. It will probably fly on 3S but I think it’s going to be way under powered… That elevator is deflated a big part of the problem. Run the wire through a straw and brace it in the middle, that way the wire can’t bend.. I’ve done it a couple times, works great.. Can’t wait to see it flying…

    • @FlyTimeRC
      @FlyTimeRC  3 дні тому +1

      @@EJ-74 so I did the tube on the wire in the back but not the middle. Fortunately I totally changed everything on the elevator. I moved the servo much closer and also used a rod that's 3x thicker.
      As for power I agree on 4s but also I won't get much more thrust. I may have to experiment more with a smaller prop on 4s. But for now I'm going to try to make the 3s work. I'm going to fly it again today and see if I've fixed the issue and I'll know for sure if the 3s will work or if I need to go 4s and change up the prop. We will see.

    It is flying but it is to heavy and lack of power. i suggest you to redesign on your plane and use less material but stronger build. Make it light as possibble so it will be floaty. 2500 gram + 6000mah battery is too much weight on it. For home made wing size 60" i usually use 2200mah 3s battery with slow fly prop which giving out more powerfull thrust, if is it proper design you can build it less than 800g.

    • @FlyTimeRC
      @FlyTimeRC  20 годин тому

      @@EnddyFishing it's 2500 grams with the battery. I ended up going with a 4s. I'm testing a few 13" props now but I've got more videos coming up of it flying much better. Also a big issue was the elevator not working properly. Also another issue I figured out the other day I haven't made a video about yet. But it will fly great as is. Just needed some testing and a few modifications.

    • @FlyTimeRC

      @@EnddyFishing 800 grams would be pretty insanely light for a plane as big as this. Especially with foam board and hot glue.

      6mm foam will do the trick. using thermal styrofoam also great, but it take a lot of time to do the sanding.
