Put a high flow exhaust on it ,high flow cats with a equalizer H type exhaust .It will amaze you how much power and response you will gane .!The 1970 'Eldorado had a true duel exhaust as standard equipment.
Another big constraint on these engines was the intake manifold an Edelbrock will really wake it up. IIRC the one for big block Fords is adaptable for the 500

it handled and felt like a much smaller car with the front drive i owned a 76 in that rosewood color
