After A Year Of Living In A Van, This Really Shocked Us! (Northumberland)
Вставка

- We've just spent the last week on our favourite UK beach park ups, doing van life in the incredible Northumberland (UK), but how does it compare to the NC500 (North Coast 500, Scotland)?
We have been living in a van in the UK now for over a year, and this place truly shocked us...it was simply magnificent
The Northumberland Coast is one of the best campervan road trips in Britain. We started the trip off at Blast Beach, Seaham, Teeside. We then drove into Northumberland to Blyth, followed by Cresswell Beach, Amble Marina, Warkworth Castle, Alnmouth, Alnwick (where Harry Potter & Hogwarts films were set, and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves), Lower Newton, Seahouses (where we saw puffins), Bamburgh, Holy Island/Lindisfarne, and then Cheswick Beach near Berwick.
Did you know that Northumberland has a similar NC500 route? It's called the NL250 and we intend to drive the other half of it on the way back down

I remember surfing one evening in the shadow of Bamburgh Castle, all lit up, awesome.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the Northumberland coast. I said you’d love it. Happy travels 😊☀️
You did, and we did, thank you 💚
Hello I'm a seventy french woman who lives in France near Dinard/ Saint-Malo in Brittanny
What a pleasure to watch your videos! I travelled many times in UK and I love your country so much
I'd go t a van, then a 1982 peace and love VW. Now I 've a Kangoo Renault that I transformed in a mini van to travelled around
You make me travelled with you and your last vidéo in Northumberland is gorgeous
Go on your travel and have good time
Friendly DOMI
Brave drone shots over the causeway! Northumberland is one of my favourite places in the world. I did the puffin tour out of Seahouses for my 30th birthday.
Nice bday treat
I knew you’d love our beautiful county. I feel incredibly lucky to live here. When my children were young we used to stay at Seahouses a lot. We’d walk that beach between Seahouses and Bamburgh and sometimes not see a soul. It was called ‘the forgotten county’ then. A tourist information advert put pay to that, it’s become more and more popular. Whilst it’s lovely to share our treasure, sometimes I miss the days of solitude in Northumberland. Our beaches are to die for and the inland treasures like The Roman Wall and the beautiful hillsides are spectacular too. There are so many interesting places to visit, a wealth of history and lots to do. I’m so glad you got to enjoy it and hope you’ll feel inclined to call again. By the way, I’m 3 minutes drive from the entrance to the Tyne Tunnel, you could have called for tea! Lol.
Being bed bound I really look forward to your videos.Thank You both.xx.
We are here for youn💯
What a beautiful coast loved the puffins van looks great guys enjoy your journey
Thanks Mike 🙏
Oh the coast of northumberland looks amazing. All those castles and lovely beaches. An the puffins ... didnt know people stayed on holy island... loved the drive over could have been from a movie scene.. hope your have great adventures in scotland ... hope you stop off at falkirk wheel kelpies.. an when heading back to england you drive down via the ayrshire coast electric brae to culzean castle.
Sending positive energy to you
Oh totally, hope we do all that too 💚👍
An old stomping ground of mine. My little girls were 2 & 3 when we camped at Seahouses and toured Norrhumberland. They are 38 & 39 now! We're off to tour the Outer Hebrides Islands at the end of the week. Can't wait.
Wow have an amazing time 😍
Cool. Good on you.😎👍
We was parked in that exact spot at Cresswell on Thursday night next to the old hymer.. great spot
It's good isn't it 😍
Hi guys, looks like you read our comment the other week about our northumberland as youve done all we said & its not disapointed you both & judging by the comments many more camper vaners will follow,we went to school in Alnwick, now living 1.5 miles from the beach near Amble,& would never ever move away from the area, the coastal route from cresswell to amble saw many opencast coal mining sites up until the 1990's that once mined out were put back as perfect farming land & nature reserves, done that well by the national coal board that you would have never known or spotted if i had not mentioned it.we are pleased you both love the area we are proud to call home & be northumbrian!.
Thank you, we LOVED IT! And can see why you are there, you are so lucky 😍
@@ThoseHappyDays thank you both, you done us proud 🙂
Great post, we went on holiday there earlier this year (2022), Seahouses is a great base to explore a fantastic area with amazing sandy beaches....my better half had said it was amazing and she was right......a wonderful area AND we saw Puffins on the Farne Islands..amazing...keep up the great posts.
It's just beautiful isn't it
Hello. Thanks for a great video. I have been thinking about going to Northumberland, you have confirmed that it would be a good choice. Love your drone footage, and sitting on your roof is a fantastic idea. ilona xxx
Thank you, and you are totally right
Hi guys, love watching yous👍👍👍
feeling proud and happy that you loved my part of the world, never take for granted the beauty of the north east.
Will never take it for granted...it's stunning
Glad you found Northumberland sp amazing - it is my fave place in UK. Loving your videos
It really is a treasure
I'm booked to play at a music festival on Lindisfarne in September and although I'll never take any music festival for granted ever again after those missing 2 years, Lindisfarne has a special place in my heart. It's visually stunning but also magical and add in music which is both my job and my passion and it makes for the most perfect moments of the year.
What a gig!! What a gig!!@
No heavy metal I hope, it would crumble the foundations hehehe....
Lindisfarne were a great band too from Newcastle, Run For Home being a big hit for them in 1978 poss a bit before your time lol Check them out..great band great song!
Cresswell Beach leading onto Druridge Bay which is a 7 mile sandy beach and dunes leading to Amble... normally quite empty
I love that part of the country. I was a scuba diver for many years and there nothing more amazing than having puffins swim past you underwater
No way 😲😲😲
So glad you got to see a bit of Northumbria one thing Alnwick is pronounced Anik great show thanks for everything xxxxxx
Haha yeah we were always going to get that wrong
Loved this video, so much in the content. WOW would love to visit Holy Island also. How lovely that some one recognised your van and left the note. Stay safe.
People are so kind 🙏
Pronounced Annick castle 😊 fantastic drone shots of the Causeway
Love this particular blog i have driven over the causeway fantastic loved Banburgh Castle only stayed a short while but will return one day. stay safe both of you xxxx
Thanks for watching, stunning isn't it
Hi once again a great video the puffins and seals were nice to see the scenery was amazing enjoy the rest of your trip x
Thank you Iris ❤️
And now I need to visit Northumberland. Thanks as always, love your videos they’ve become part of my Sunday morning routine.
Thank you for joining us for another week 🙏
My husband and I have been on several walking holidays thru Northumberland. I don’t think anywhere else in the UK compares for the scenery and the privacy. If you ever go back to Holy Island, consider walking across when the tide is out. Pilgrims walking both St. Oswald’s Way and St. Cuthbert’s Walk all end up at Lindisfarne, barefoot and often singing. It is an experience you will never forget.
What a beautiful place Northumberland is. I’ve throughly enjoyed watching your video today. It really brought a smile to my face. Thank you thank you for sharing your adventures with us xx
Oh and I love the boat trip to see the puffins 👍👍
So pleased, that's our job done then..hope you are goof
*good
Just catching up on your brilliant video we went to Northumberland for the first time last Sept in our van and was so amazed at how beautiful it is up there, definitely feels like you're in a different country and the drive across the causeway to Holy Island is just spectacular. 👍
Good morning well i really really enjoyed this
Video i love seeing castles and medieval stuff
Its so exciting to watch. Thank you both ☺️❤❤
Super part of the country, thank you for watching ❤️
Love this. I used to go to Northumberland when I was a kid. My sister screamed her way around Bamburgh Castle. I'm guessing she was about 18 months old.. it's a stunning place
🤣💚💚👍
Good morning Liam and Janine……another fantastic, informative video with stunning scenery to boot. Thanks for the share….great way to start a gloomy Sunday down here in South Devon….happy travels 😍😍
Eeek for once the North trumps with weather as we have a short window of sun 😲
Cant believe missed yous in seaham, it's our favourite place to go to have a bag of chips (with batter of course ) and just sit and watch the sea .xx
Love love love this video....... I'm glad you are feeling happiness of UK Van life 🎉
👍 thank you 💚
Thank you for that insight to Northumberland, it’s somewhere we’ve never been and looks truly beautiful, look forward to watching your next video, take care 👍 cheers Paul
Cheers Paul 👍
The mountains , forests in Northumberland are so fabulous!!
Can't wait to see them
Hello Liam and Janine. I’ve had sciatica for weeks now so I am going to try the Golden Latte. Anything to try and help! Loving catching up on your videos. Watching vanlifers has made me realise just how many areas in the UK I still need to visit. Especially Northumberland. Lovely vlog as always. Morgan is turning into a cosy little home. Take care.
Much love to you and thank you 😊
Wow that was a super episode...and what a view from your front door at that park up.🤩 Never realised the beauty of the Northumberland coast and all there is to see. Welcome to Scotland soon ..hope to see you passing by in Morgan!
We are in Scotland now officially, and loving it ❤️
@@ThoseHappyDays welcome to the North...hope there are some good park ups to be found 🌅
We were in Northumberland last week and saw Morgan in the car park on Holy Island. We were hoping to see you to say hi but sadly didn't. We love watching your adventures xx
Next time x hope you had a great time 💚
@@ThoseHappyDays We did, it's got to be the most stunning part of the UK!
Gets me outta bed every Sunday just after 9am, thanks for being my early Sunday morning alarm call and putting a smile on my face for the whole day! Magical guy's as per usual! Ben x
💚 thanks man, that's kind of you to say
Glad you liked Northumberland, we love it too 🙂
Really enjoyed the dramatic scene of you getting ready to leave. Well shot and edited! Completely unexpected and entertaining!!!
😍👍 thanks so much
Seen use in Northumberland, glad your enjoying the North East.
Had a great time mate 💚
Northumberland, a place of true beauty. But sssshhhhhh, don’t tell too many people. Loved the vlog btw.
Haha 😄 hard not to? Where's your favourite spot?
@@ThoseHappyDays just loved Bamburgh. Great place for swimming and flying kites. My idea of heaven. Agree with you totally about rushing through on the way to Scotland and the NC. There are far too many overlooked places.
You are in my neck of the woods, the part where England and Scotland meet and the coastline round here. Glad you have had such a good time! Stop in North Berwick then, beaches everywhere!
Thats where we are 😍
I do enjoy tagging along on your adventures and seeing what you get up to, and you're right Northumberland is a beautiful part of Britain, and hopefully might catch a glimpse of Morgan when you reach the North Wales area.
Hopefully we will see you then mate
Love that you stayed in Seaham my favourite little town. ♥️
Loved the puffins, they are so cute! The castles? Spectacular! Thanks for taking us along 😊
Pleasure, thanks for watching 👀
So LOVE Holy Island!
Thank you for such Great shots of it!!
👍🏼❤️😘
👍💚
What a great video. Watching this one brought back so many wonderful memories. My parent's were Geordies born and breed, and we holiday up there every year so they could see family and friends. The rest of the time exploring Northumberland. Thank you.
How lovely, you must know it well then
@@ThoseHappyDays I use to but not been there for thirty plus years. Must go back sometime.
I have just made myself one and I'm addicted. Thanks for that. Northumberland coastline looks good. It's on my list xxx
👍👍👍💚
Hey Liam & Janine.. I know you don't get a chance to comment on all your messages these days. I'm so happy for you to see how the channel has progressed... I just wanted to say that your videos, just get better & better.. Superb editing, footage & music... & the content as always is just great.. Much love Mx.
That's kind of you to say and we love the feedback thank you 😊
Oh no! You went to Alnwick and skimped on the gardens! They are beautiful esp The Grand Cascade :)
Would have needed to remortgage the van to see them as well 🙈💚
Ahh my neck of the woods. I work on Seaham and look out over that beach. Northumbria has to be the most beautiful place. Stunning beaches , dramatic castle, wonderful wildlife. Bamburgh Seahouses and Holy Island are my fav places.
Ah wow we love that beach, stayed there for a couple of days 😍
They missed Tommy!
Wow that was lovely thanks for sharing, and see you soon 💚
Thanks for watching 👀
A lovely video guys. I really enjoyed seeing another of my fave places. Seaham. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful country. Safe travels xx
Love Seaham, its great isn't it
Northumberland is stunning ..a fab video you guys ❤
Thank you 🚐 ❤️
Can’t believe you have just done the same route as we did only we have a caravan we stayed in Alnwick went out and about to Seahouses, bamborough castle, and holy island, then traveled back up to Carlisle and crossed over to Scotland where we stashed on an amazing site at Lock Maben, if your heading to the Lake District which I’m sure you have said in one of your videos whilst it’s beautiful it’s also very packed make a detour and come to my part of the woods to a gorgeous place called Allonby, loads of park ups right on the beach
Ah nice thanks we will hopefully, thanks for the tips. We hope its not too busy in LD 😲
Can see our motorhome parked near you at cresswell it was nice meeting you and thankyou for the seaham recommendation we stayed there the next night and we loved it I came home with a ton of sea glass ☺️x
Nice to meet you too 😊
Beautiful scenery enjoyed this very much ☺️ tempting me to travel up there next year to see the puffins and explore the stunning beaches xx
You must, its so nice
Great Video, really loving your England coastal tour, giving us inspiration for our future (more full time travelling). 👍
👍👍
Pleased I could travel along with you in this video, I used to live in Weardale, County Durham before moving to Vancouver Island, Canada. My wife’s parents used to live in Bamburgh close to where you were parked. Brought back memories.
We are both so pleased it brought back memories for you
I hoped you would come this way soon! Wonderful that you champion Northumberland......it is a STUNNING place to live! Enjoy and hurry back!
Thank you, we love it!!!
I’ll have to Google NC500… not a clue what that is… I’m guessing Northumberland Coast 500 something or other. Stunning views, stunning ice-cream and feel good factor, present as always. See you on the next one :)
Thank you for joining us again, see you next week
Brilliant vid my sundays would not be the same without you xxx
Thanks man appreciate i5n
I've heard about Northumberland, seen brief videos, but not like this one. It's beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I loved the foot revving on the peddle clothed with a British sock, lol. And those vegan iced creams looked yummy. Amazing video. Really interesting. Glad you found your puffins. 80 quid to visit the castle and the puffins was well worth it.
Yeah they are once in a lifetime experiences aren't they 😍
Showed Northumberland off lovely vid, happy days x
Cheers Dad
Guys it gets better and better, the build up and drone footage over the causeway was brilliant, well thought out before hand and edited to perfection. Happy days indeed! 🍦🍦
😍 thank you

I am 75 year young and spent all my childhood hols on these beaches thats my happy days too . Still visit today nice to see nothing has changed.from southyorkshire
It's such a lovely place
Hi again Liam, lovely to meet and chat with you in the car park at Sea houses the other day. Couldn’t wait to see this video to see what you both think of the area, we are seeing the Northumberland coast for the first time too and we find it all so amazing. So surprised when Morgan drove in with both of you. Brilliant video and safe travels. Debra and Mike.
So lovely to meet you, 💕 and so pleased you are enjoying it all. Any favourites so far?
@@ThoseHappyDays No favourites, just love it all. Looking forward to next weeks video, loved Edinburgh too. 💕
I really enjoyed this video. I’ve never visited Northumberland and it looks incredible!
Our beaches beat those hands down 💚
Loved this fantastic video! Northumberland is now on the list to explore, thanks! What amazing videography Janine! Totally brilliant shots that are so professional and loved all the adventures you shared. That high drama scene of setting off where Liam is sporting his hedgehog socks was hilarious! The tumeric latte was good to see and all that home made cruelty free yummy food. You guys are looking sooo happy. I always don't want the videos to end. All the love xxx
Hahaha it was another 'should have done laundry and liam is wearing janines socks again' days 🤣🤣🤣
Northumberland is amazing and all less than an hour from where we live. Halfway between Newcastle and Edinburgh you will pass through our town (Jedburgh) lovely free parking to stop for lunch overlooking the abbey. Also have a castle and Mary Queen of Scots house x
I felt stressed watching this video! We love Northumberland and we don’t want others to know how fantastic it is 😂😂😂 I’m glad you enjoyed Seaham and we go there often because we only live a couple of miles away but we prefer the harbour and Vane Tempest beach we’ve never actually been down to Nose’s Point beach because of the access but we’ll make the effort now 😁 Thanks for sharing and try your hardest to down play your next trip into Northumberland! 🤣🤣
Hahahaah will Tey
*try
I know what you mean. Shhhh keep it a secret!! 😉
So if we all felt that way we would all have to live in the sea .I live on a Scottish island and we welcome the masses as they are not here all year .
@@batmscot6149 it’s a joke, hence the laughing emojis!
Fantastic video. One of your best. Great place to see. Thanks for sharing. Lovely of the couple who left you a note. Take care on the rest of your adventures.
So many kind folk about 😍
My ancestors are from England and Scotland so this has been so enjoyable to watch. I visited in the late 1990s but spent most of my time in London, Bath, York, and Scotland so it's nice to see some of the places I missed. And those beaches! Epic
Pleasure, thank you for joining us 😊
Thank you for the wonderful adventures! I am now 76 and read a poem about puffins when I was a small child. I was fascinatined by them. They are gorgeous!🌏🕊🇺🇸💙I send you hugs.
❤️❤️❤️
Never been to Northumberland but going to put it on my list to go now,it looks amazing! Thanks for another great video Liam and Janine x
Thank you, beautiful isn't it 😘 ❤️
It was amazing to see yous in seaham, I was the gent who waved as you drove in to the carpark, also passed you on the beach, give you a nod as I respect your privacy, (& you were talking to a lady about jurassic Park), great vlog 👍, hope you had a great stay
Haha were we? I love that film, doesn't surprise me 🤣 You should have come and said hello
Northumberland is one of my favourite places, I was so lucky to live close enough to visit whenever I wanted.
Ah wow, where was your favourite spot?
@@ThoseHappyDays I would say Seahouses as it reminds me of schools trips there but Alnwick is stunning. Great to see that you both got to experience this area of the country. Have a great Sunday both of you!
@@Markmywordschannel you too
Always cold up north 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍🇬🇧
Haha yes it is
Before I even watch the video the answer is YES, we love Scotland but Northumberland is epic 😊
🤣🤣👍👍
I went to Lindisfarne many years ago and saw the ruins and made it back before the tide came back in!!
Really exciting times and one of my favourite places I visited in the north east. I was there in August and it was beautiful
Northumberland is an amazing place. It's beaches are the best. Truly beautiful. Full of castles. Pleased you liked it.

Thank you.you never disappoint on a sunday morningxxxxxx
😍😍😍😍 so pleased you liked it
Loving the comedy scene before crossing the causeway, thank you guys Loving your travels spider and Arlene
😍👍
You two are so alive, so present....inspiring. You find wonderful park ups too. The music is cool too especially as the drone sweeps over the vast view of a pearlescent beach with the two of you walking hand in hand...all this and puffins too.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 The causeway vignette was a hoot too.🤣
Wow! Epic landscapes .. Magic park ups .. Njoy 🎉✨💖
.
💯 😍
Brilliant loving the filming and music . We really loved it there we have to back after watching you both . Looking forward to your next adventure
Stunning place isn't it
Really enjoy joining you on your travels. It allows me to see parts of this country I would normally not see. That ice-cream looked yummy, I hope it was xx
God that ice cream is so dangerous/delicious 😍
@@ThoseHappyDays It looked it too xx
This is one of my favourite areas of the country! It's a shame you missed Annstead beach just south of Seahouses! It's a hidden gem that one. Also, so impressed that you found vegan food in Seahouses - when I was there last it was chips or chips or more chips.
Liam I think that Holy Island was inspiration for a few of the locations in Game of Thrones so you are spot on. And when I was last there Harrison Ford was filming a new Indiana Jones at Bamburgh Castle, so you've got another film location in there too - keep an eye out for that one :)
Wow! So many film locations in NL 😲
Great Video,
I stopped at Amble with a friends family member who happened to be a fisherman. I went out on a boat lobster potting a few times which was absolutely brilliant. Also went to Alnwick, there are lovely places up north to visit and the people are really friendly and welcoming. One of the best times I have ever had...🙂👍🏻👍🏻
Such friendly people up here too
I just love a Sunday morning. Elvis, coffee , and then breakfast with Those Happy Days. Some day I hope you come to SW Scotland. Can't wait for next video guys. ENJOY Michelle x
Thanks Michelle, we really appreciate you coming us every week 😍
Hi I’m from Northumberland I must say we are very lucky to live in this part of the world with such beautiful scenery. We pronounce Alnwick Anick btw 😉 I’ve been and done everything you went too so it brought a lot of memories back, great video 😊
What a great part of the world, and apologies for the pronunciation 🤣
Another fantastic video I would love to live your life even with the ups and downs, thanks for the drink tip .
It has its moments ❤️🤣
Oh wow! All the castles and ruins! The beaches! I would love to tour England and Scotland like that. I’ve only ever been to London for a long weekend (coming from Germany). I love the colder, rainy weather.
You'd love it up here then 😍
@@ThoseHappyDays I live in hot humid Florida but jobs keep us here. We are close to retirement though!
Fabulous so beautiful Northumberland. Great blog Thankyou both 🎉🎉
Thanks for following 😀
Definitely one of the best videos, scenically at least. The drone is wonderful. What an asset. How you get overhead shots of Morgan and crew crossing the causeway to Lindisfarne is a mystery to me. Do you give it commands, "Dear Drone, follow us and don't go anywhere else!" 😄
I was waiting for the "Aliens" beach. Did I miss it?
My two favourite moments:
Liam barely stirring from his warm bed muttering "Yes, lets get going." And Janine, hearing about the all vegan ice cream shop on Lindisfarne. "I'm on a diet. I'm definitely going to have an ice cream." 😀
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The aliens beach was the very first beach in the episode
Hi guys. Great to see you in my area. Unfortunately the car parks at Cresswell now have height restrictions in place. Gutted 😞
Ah no, that's such a shame
