I found a UA-cam video of it being played. It sounds as wonderful as it looks. Sorry you missed hearing the organ when you were there, but I enjoyed your walk around the city!
So interesting to see Reykjavik from the eyes of a tourist. I recognise all those places and streets, but never really paid any attention to most of them. I've walked along that coastline many times though!
"Sometimes it's nice being lost" This is my attitude. I remember being in Bratislava and I knew which direction our destination was, but didn't know which roads would get us there. My son looked on Google Maps and kept telling me it said to go one way. We both kept laughing as I ignored what it said as there was a building with an interesting roof, roughly in thd direction of where we needed to be and I wanted to see the rest of the building. We got to where we needed to be and I got to see the building with the interesting roof. Sometimes it's nice just to have a bit of an explore. We also found a little shop, out of the way where I got a nice woolly hat that I wear ever winter. Google Maps didn't want us to go near either the building with the interesting roof, nor the cool little shop. I wouldn't have my nice woolly hat keeping my head warm if I'd paid attention to Google Maps. It's very handy if you need to be somewhere quickly and need the most direct route, but if I have time to do without it, that's always my preference. You miss so much otherwise.

what a perfect day. That soup shop is right up my alley!. Anyone visiting the city and who wants a jumper / sweater / knitwear should visit the Icelandic Handknit Shop. Excellent prices beautiful hand knit goods. Iceland Air use to have an excellent deal where you could fly to London from Seattle ( and other US cities) and have a 48 hour lay over at no extra airfare penalty. I checked just now and indeed they still have a great deal where you can add multi night layover.
So nice of you, bringing the empty dishes back. ❤ The staff will appreciate it. Again a vid with good mood and scenes to just feel good. A little bit of chaos is wonderful and you are right: it's much better than clean and scripted ones! And of course: everything will be fine for you coming back home! 😊
Watching your wee escapades in Iceland Steve we know you got back to Montrose before you left Reykjavik!!! But some of your viewers thought you were still looking for the bus stop in Seydisfjordur. All very bewildering. Such lovely exciting entertainment as per usual. Thank you Sir! 😛From France.
Thanks for a wonderful walk through the old city center (miðbæinn) of my hometown (Reykjavik). Grótta is situated on Seltjarnarnes (seal pond peninsula) which does not belong to Reykjavik ... yep I am nitpicking .. That is quite a walk you took, and you happened to walk some of my favorite streets in the process. Appreciated and it was delightful to take a 'walk with you' sitting in the comfort of my own sofa. 😂
Steve. We haven't visited Iceland for many years. A beautiful place. We stayed in a hotel opposite the Hallgrimskirkja. That was a wonderful sight to wake up to each morning. Thank you for the day tour of Reykjavik.
Love it Steve! We visited Reykjavik in January and watched the Northern Lights from Grotta Lighthouse. We were the only ones there and ended up staying till about 3.30am! Absolutely magical and got amazing photos 😁
Steve, ahhh, seeing Reykjavik through your eyes is a beautiful experience.❤ And bravo for dining on meat soup in extremely cold weather. I love the quirky-cool Icelandic sights and your clear captures of the sea with docked ships. Thank you, thank you, thank you.😍
What a great diversion. The church was beautiful. I was a little surprised that some men didn't take their hats off, but you did. I enjoy your video's. Thank you.
Didn’t want your video to finish as so enjoyed it. The city is beautiful and so clean. The church was a amazing and the craftsman who built it and all the pews inside and the beautiful wood is a amazing as well. Love your little funny sayings and the bun looked yummy. 😀
Excellent video again, in a beautiful capital city and country, the best. Brought back memories. You were right, that dark building is thr parliament called Aþling (Athling)
Fabulous video, Steve - what a beautiful day for it! And yes, that was the Parliament building, with the proper cathedral next to it (no, the huge Hallgrimskirkja on the hill isn't the cathedral).
I love your style of vlogging. As if one is there oneself. (must say that Reykjavik changed a lot since I've been there on a father-son trip 20 years ago). Just love to have been sort of back. Thanks Steve!
so much fun hanging with you Steve, my wife is Danish so she helps with the translation of some of the menu's and signs....but recently caught her reading the english below!!!
Thank you for these Iceland vids. My son went there for a week, but took no pictures, so it is nice to have a taste of what he saw. Really enjoyed these!!
Hats off to you. One thing I cannot do is travel somewhere and go straight out sightseeing. Or go sightseeing and then head off to the airport or my coach/train. I have to settle somewhere after my journey or prior to going home. My wife made me drive the length of France. 3 hours round Versailles. Then drive to the ferry. Straight across & drive North to Manchester. Never, ever again. That’s your superpower
I love exploring too (aka getting lost) when I was in Warsaw, staying in the old town I couldn't remember how to get back to my hotel... But, that evening was fantastic, saw the most amazing places and sat in the evening sun listening to a Chopin concert, pizza and a beer to hand!
My nephew, who I love very much, has unfriended me over politics. I’ve had a cry, and am now angry, and I know that I will so much better for watching you. Thank you so much Steve, for taking me away to places that I probably won’t get to from Australia. You do wonders for our mental health ❤

He wasn’t tagged, nothing, and just started on me. It has now caused drama as my son, his cousin, is p*ssed off with him, his mother, my sister told me it’s not her problem so that is now an issue because if my son did that to her it would be my business as his mother to say a few things about his behaviour. So we are not speaking, all because of his arrogance and lack of respect for me. Rude turd! I now realize how awfully tired you must’ve been, after your intense transit return to Montrose. 😟 That was a lot of walking, and you brought us so much! ❤ Loved the traditional meat soup (though the Cullen skink soup you shared on another vlog is still at the top of my list). 😉

One tiny thing I would like, if he would linger on some shots just slightly longer, but hey I can just go back again eh. Steve I think puts in just the right amount of humour too,so doesn't get annoying . great work .
Your usual great city tour. I have only seen Reykjavik in winter but it is lovely at any time. The soup is fantastic and they often do it inside a cut out loaf. That concert hall is worth going into too. When I went it was that windy I couldn't go the right way trying to cross the street, but it was covered in ice. It was lovely you showing me round again. Your video's are superb and better than any documentary on the TV. Thanks and all the best
...You are doing more than Okay, Steve. As you asked us to tell you ;-) I love to watch your authentic videos. You and Alicija are such great company and guides to show us the world, not at least all of us, who can not travel ourselves due to bad physical health and not having the money to travel. Some of us struggle just to pay for the internet access. God bless and protect both of you. Much love from Denmark
This is Steve's work ethic, "I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for UA-cam Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible."
Visting all my bucket list destinations (and now adding ferry rides to it!) vicariously through your videos. Incredible journeys and incredible scenery! Enjoy all your videos. :)

Really enjoyed this (mind you, I always do enjoy your vlogs). We were in Iceland about this time last year and had a great time, including 24 hours in Reykjavik which was really enjoyable. It's nice to be reminded of the place - though we didn't go out to the lighthouse :)
As a retired TV sound recordist I enjoyed seeing the piece of volcanic stone riddled with tiny holes that you picked up on your way to the lighthouse.
We just got back from Reykjavik. I saw you pass Icelandic Street Food, one of our favorite places to eat in Iceland. We can't wait to go back.
Now you've gone and done it! Your video forced me to add Reykjavik to my bucket list.
Wow wow 👌 what a smashing place . Thanks for taking us there . I may put it on my list ❤
4:32 That's the work of Phlegm, a Sheffield based street artist, from my hometown.
Good to see he's made it out that far.
Chippy tea and Steve Marsh video on a sat night, is a tradition I’m starting!!!!
Another great video. Such a beautiful place . Thanks for another one Steve!!!
YES made my day...always wondered about iceland,,studied its history......but you tour was amazing...many THANKS
A very pleasant ‘wandering around’ video.
Thank for visiting our country I will follow your travel
Loved this epic journey Steve, the way you film makes us feel right there beside you. Superb👏🏻😀
I just found your channel 👍 I love the comment,”sometimes it’s just fun getting lost.” 👋Missoula, Montana, USA
I visited in January 2015 when it felt a lot more like ‘Ice’land so really happy to see it in brighter times, excellent video as ever.
Thank you.
Agreed with Steve and all the positive comments - my favourite place in the world to visit. This is tempting me to spend money on another visit 👍😇
That motor was brilliant
Built for all conditions!
Steve your videos are great
Fabulous video, Steve - what a beautiful day for it!
I'm so with you on being lost . I have found some crazy things whilst lost ❤
Hi, love your videos, I moved to Iceland in 2019 and love it. I stay in the westfjords in a town called Ísafjörður.
I love exploring too (aka getting lost) when I was in Warsaw, staying in the old town I couldn't remember how to get back to my hotel... But, that evening was fantastic, saw the most amazing places and sat in the evening sun listening to a Chopin concert, pizza and a beer to hand!
@@sowitandhopeitgrows Getting lost is one of the joys of travel. 😀
thanks so much , my son went there last January , he loved it xxx
My nephew, who I love very much, has unfriended me over politics. I’ve had a cry, and am now angry, and I know that I will so much better for watching you. Thank you so much Steve, for taking me away to places that I probably won’t get to from Australia. You do wonders for our mental health ❤
A good friend of mine fell out with me over Brexit, friendships (and especially family connections) should transcend politics!
With my adult children our words have always been let’s agree to disagree hope you are able to sort it out between you both quickly x
What the hell is wrong with people - we have freedom of speech but cannot use that right.🙊
@@AmethystDew I was a personal post on my Facebook, I didn’t even say anything, just a non offensive picture. And he just went for me. I have never gone on a friends page and done that in my life. Rude turd! Sorry for the rant on this wonderful stream, I love watching Steve, it’s a wonderful escape and his style makes us all feel like we’re with him. And he has lovely manners!!
@@chestersmum4158 thank you, we are usually the same, but he follows someone who attracts cultists and that’s all I’ll say. He’s the only one in the family like this, and we’re Australian so I don’t get the nastiness when he doesn’t live in the US and never has.
Thanks for another wonderful adventure! I now realize how awfully tired you must’ve been, after your intense transit return to Montrose. 😟 That was a lot of walking, and you brought us so much! ❤ Loved the traditional meat soup (though the Cullen skink soup you shared on another vlog is still at the top of my list). 😉
Recently found these videos but very glad I did. Steve makes them very interesting.
YEY, another Steve video...Wonderful ! dark outside, sit back and relax..............
...You are doing more than Okay, Steve.
It’s always a good day when you watch Steve finding a lighthouse 🤣
I'm a ray of..........sunshine! Hahahaha! Love it! Brilliant Steve Cheers m' dear! And I'm sooooo happy your videos are advert-free! 👍🙏🙋🏴🇮🇪
What a brilliant way to spend a day. You deserve every bit of luck you had with the weather on this one!
Visting all my bucket list destinations (and now adding ferry rides to it!) vicariously through your videos. Incredible journeys and incredible scenery! Enjoy all your videos. :)
Your vlogs are very good! Entertaining, informative and to the point. Love them. Cheers from Denmark.
Your Icelandic Odyssey is one of the best Travel Vlogs I've seen. What a beautiful Country it is. The way you wander, budget and work your way around shows us a route off the usual Tourist Trail's. Cracking ad always Big Yin. Big respect 😊
Really enjoyed this (mind you, I always do enjoy your vlogs). We were in Iceland about this time last year and had a great time, including 24 hours in Reykjavik which was really enjoyable. It's nice to be reminded of the place - though we didn't go out to the lighthouse :)
Wow, that was a good one ! Reykjavik was not like we imagined, thank you for taking us there, fabulous.👍
