Get yourselves back on that ferry and down to southern Spain for the winter 😊 plenty of sunshine for your solar panels and loads of stunning free park ups. ❤ much love.
Hey Guys. Your fridge can be off all night without losing very much temperature at all. I have my fridge in my tiny house on a timer. It switches off at midnight and switches back on at 07h00. I make sure not to open it during that time. This is especially true if your fridge has a freezer compartment INSIDE the fridge. So install a switch and get into the habit of switching it off when you switch off the lights before bed.
We agree about switching the fridge off overnight especially in winter (so long as you don’t open it). We have similar solar set up and inverter and in the South Island in NZ, we probably have the similar winter temps. Makes a huge difference in overnight power consumption.
G’day I absolutely love your videos my family was all from Scotland and it was so nice to watch you when you were there, what a beautiful country it is and England thank you so much it means the world of me to be able to see it, from a real persons aspect no airs ,no graces the way it should be seen thank you
What I live about your videos is that it is almost in real time!! Feel so much more connected to your travels and life story. Getting that Jackery will be such a life changer
You can get quiet generators that you can run for a couple of hours in the day that will be much more efficient than driving as you have to cover the cost of the fuel used during this time moving the van.
When we go in the van in winter we switch the fridge off at night and don't open the door it is fine and every three days we go on a site for hook up and empty the casette as well . we are not full timers like yourselves but we go out all the year round . Love watching you both as you are so down to earth and love the tours .

We had the same problem as we are always Out travelling, and always try to wild park first. We have got solar, and one leisure battery, but as you said the solar, is not reliable in the winter time, but now, we are no longer dependant on Solar. We have 60 amp battery to battery charger, installed in our van , which charges the battery in a hour when engine is running. We have just come back from the New Forest, we stayed a week there trees everywhere , no hook up just using this set up . We went for the odd drive. It has been a game changer for us . Just thought we would share that with you.great video both. Enjoy your travels. Toby & Suzy
power bank is definately the way to go, and it really helps in winter with lack of solar etc. i think a max of two days in one place is good practice if wild camping with a decent drive to let the alternator do its thing. unfortunately the traveling is not the cheapest option with the price of diesel at the moment, but it is better for the mind and soul to move on and explore.

I also don’t have a diesel heater, I heat my home with a woodburner which obviously requires no electricity and don’t have any hair products etc. I use candles in lanterns and fairy lights with AA batteries. The only things I use the power for at this time of year are charging up our phones, tablets and headphones. Good luck with camping at sites throughout the winter, most campsites were closed for the winter season between Dec and March (well in lreland) and ones I did find open, I was the only one in! I did the one day a week thing, and stealth camped in church carparks(church is sanctuary) and beaches by camps. And yes supermarket carparks but never more than a night, but I'd camp in middle of carpark to get most daylight in solar. Hope that helps!
Oh how this vidoe bought back memories of us last winter , we found parking under a street lamp gave our solar a little charge, we also had little movement sensor lights that ran on AAAs for night time loo visits.
I've been full timing for six years and have 620 watts of solar and 360ah lithium. I bought a 90 amp charger (charges at about 60-70 after 20 mins) from the alternator but have to drive nonetheless for 4 hours or more for just 2-3 days. Bought a generator, but you can only use it far away from people. Soundproofing with them is very limited because the exhaust has to remain unrestricted. Good luck to you both. Enjoying your videos!
You Guy's are what make my sunday mornings worth getting up for! Envious that you have been to windsor! I need to visit. Have a good week Guy's and keep warm as it's going to be cold this week X
The separate power bank will be really useful. I got a small generator, But you cant use that outside peoples houses and that doesn't mean you get a good charge quick enough . I always thought why have a power bank. Why not just get more batteries, But of course its not that simple, Never is. Understanding batteries and charging is a lot more complex than i ever realized. Thanx guys for getting cold, cramped and doing without So some of us can learn best from you. 👍👍

I stayed at that site for 1 night. Took me a while to figure out the facilities 😄 I walked out onto the field first before driving to find hard ground. It snowed the night I stayed there. My mini motorhome is prone to lose grip on grass on a slope. I sympathise with your predicament. All a learning experience. Happy travels.
I have a citroen relay LWB camper and bought some mud mats, they didnt last long when used in anger. the 3500kg weight of the Citroen soon destroyed them. I ended up buying some more ruggedised ones which are like steel cable with rubber blocks attached. They faired much better. the plastic style mud plates with be destroyed by your van.
Lovely video. Actually didn't notice the music being too loud. Just enjoyed the variety. I'm watching on the telly tonight. Looking forward to seeing how you solve the power issues. Bye for now. 🌠🌞🌝
Hey guys love your vids. I was just thinking what would I do if I had no power🧐 and I thought about the wee strip lights that are battery operated from Primark they are £2 and take three batteries. I have two under my kitchen cupboards and they are great, you get quite a lot of light from them. Anyway won’t help with other electrics, but at least you would have some light. Have a fab day ❤xx
13:29 your tyres are clogging with mud, let them down till they're very very squishy to squish it out as they go round. 12 psi is needed to keep the tyres on the rims, you may or may not need a little more to stop the rims touching & cutting through the tyre.
park wild one night and on site next use the coastal campsites very cheap start at clacton and follow the coast right up to cockenzie then 40mile to west coast then back down round the coast probably cost u 50 a week to slowly work your way round and explore and have fun and a regular swim. park resorts £8 a night out of season with good entertainment
I used to have a Hymer Swing, I found a must for me parking up on grass sites were off road waffle boards to inch onto either the front or rear wheel drive. Most camp sites of course will have a vehicle to pull you off in such an event. But for private cheap camping I found them useful on many occasions as you can gain the momentum to get you moving. Some can be quite light so they don't increase the pay load to much. Great video as always guy's :o)
Hi We don't have massive solar issues in Africa, however what you should look into is upgrading your alternator to allow fast charging whilst you drive.
@@alanhat5252 thought the concept of DC to DC is that once your starter battery is charged(14v) then the alternator charge changes over to the house battery(maybe that's a smart charger)... Something to investigate.

yes in winter I use my suitcase generator and run it for about 4/5 hrs that charge everything up and gives me another two days you only need a 800/1000 watt generator and they are not expensive to run have a look in screw fix
Bit late watching you today ha ha. Been to Northumberland. So pleased you are going to do a few nights on sites with hook ups. I think it will do Janine good and hopefully ward off her cough this winter. What strange facilities on the site near Windsor ha ha. The meal looked so good. We are zooming down the A1 and I guess it will be a McD for us tonight xx
Great vlog. For anyone spending your own money and having an electrical installation already, spending the cash on additional batteries probably more efficient.

You might have to look into getting yourself a little power station just to run your diesel heater off of you now and save the rest of your power for your lights and whatever else, but are you going to go in the winter because it I had the same problem with my van so I had to get a little Eco flow thing just to see me through the winter and then when summer comes great. I have two under my kitchen cupboards and they are great, you get quite a lot of light from them. Anyway won’t help with other electrics, but at least you would have some light. Have a fab day ❤xx
Good plan 😀
Loving the videos, guys.If you ever find yourselves in SW France, let us know. We've got a campsite where you can stay for free.
Beautiful thank you so much
13:29 your tyres are clogging with mud, let them down till they're very very squishy to squish it out as they go round.
12 psi is needed to keep the tyres on the rims, you may or may not need a little more to stop the rims touching & cutting through the tyre.
Every UA-camr must have a Jackery by now !
I forgot it was Sunday, I opened UA-cam and in the very first slot are Liam and Janine! Yay! 👍🏻💗
Aw thanks, means a lot 💓
park wild one night and on site next use the coastal campsites very cheap start at clacton and follow the coast right up to cockenzie then 40mile to west coast then back down round the coast probably cost u 50 a week to slowly work your way round and explore and have fun and a regular swim. park resorts £8 a night out of season with good entertainment
You need a generator, and fit it in a sound proof case, job done
Go to southern Scotland sometime. Very beautiful and very few tourists.
If your in the cotwolds go to broadway next Friday between 5.30pm and 8.30pm they will have a lovely Christmas market on x
I bet that's lovely market too
I used to have a Hymer Swing, I found a must for me parking up on grass sites were off road waffle boards to inch onto either the front or rear wheel drive. Most camp sites of course will have a vehicle to pull you off in such an event. But for private cheap camping I found them useful on many occasions as you can gain the momentum to get you moving. Some can be quite light so they don't increase the pay load to much. Great video as always guy's :o)
Great idea, going to keep an eye out for some
Great video as always.
Thank you
Hi
We don't have massive solar issues in Africa, however what you should look into is upgrading your alternator to allow fast charging whilst you drive.
The limit is from the battery-to-battery charger not the alternator. It's worth taking advice on whether a 2nd unit can be fitted.
@@alanhat5252 thought the concept of DC to DC is that once your starter battery is charged(14v) then the alternator charge changes over to the house battery(maybe that's a smart charger)... Something to investigate.
As per usual u peeps have made an AWESOME vid whoooop 😀❤️😀 I love the sightseeing re the castle and the museum and of course the walk. Keep the adventures coming ❤️
Love namaste and blessings
Kas ❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️
Thank you Kas 💚
yes in winter I use my suitcase generator and run it for about 4/5 hrs that charge everything up and gives me another two days you only need a 800/1000 watt generator and they are not expensive to run have a look in screw fix
How was NL?
@@ThoseHappyDays we had a great time on a green lane holiday. We go with a guide from Land Rover events. Lots of river crossings and mud 😄
Great vlog. For anyone spending your own money and having an electrical installation already, spending the cash on additional batteries probably more efficient.
And managing what you have best you can
Lads , U need to head south 4 future winter's
where there is plenty of sun . southern Spain & Portugal 4 starters .
All the best & stay safe
Christy 🇮🇪/🇵🇹 👍
informative, thanks.
Little night light candles and a Jackery. X
I love watching these van life videos but boy am I glad I have a house Windsor looks lovely.
😲😲
@@ThoseHappyDays it just looks stressful in the winter I like watching but I like a easy life thanks for the entertainment guys I think me and my wife would be divorced not being able to go into separate rooms 😂😂😂
From Windsor, better off doing Hedgerley, Beaconsfield or Denham! Thats what we did for our 2 years in the van with family and jobs in the area
Another lovely vlog xx
💓
We always start heater with engine running to cover the 10 amp startup
Yeah its a better idea
Hey guys, have seen a little criticism about the music - I think it's great! You always pick great tunes and the levels are perfect for me 👌
Thank you, yeah I think it's when people have different audio devices it can sometimes mess with the balance levels
That porridge could build houses, maybe there is a market for Janines porridge rather than cement, so funny, lol. Another good one, thanks guys. Michelle.
🤣🤣🤣👌
I love my jackery explorer 500 😍
Hi Janine and Liam, l love your video l only recently found you here on youtube, great vibes, awesome content, being an Aussie is great for me to see your country, so beautiful, ooh your dinner actually looked yum xx cheers from Australia
🙏🚐💚
Get yourself a nice silent generator for your main hook up or top batteries up
I absolutely Love Janine's black boots. I really want a pair but I live in America in Florida. It's just not comfortable to use those boots in warmer weather. It's November 30th and it's going to be at least 80 degrees for the next 7 days.
😲😲
Love watching

Another fab video guys. I have to say your pre-christmas dinner looked lovely, not sure about the porridge though lol. Happy trails x
Thank you 🙏
You might have to look into getting yourself a little power station just to run your diesel heater off of you now and save the rest of your power for your lights and whatever else, but are you going to go in the winter because it I had the same problem with my van so I had to get a little Eco flow thing just to see me through the winter and then when summer comes great. Can't wait for Sam to come on. We're back again could you later love you lots and lots
Love the videos, whilst I don’t know anything about Camper Vans, could use the abundance of EV charging to boost your onboard battery..
