Venuta in mente quella vecchia storia
Absolutely, yes! In fact, that's how I became interested in the Lenormand cards. This is taken from the first page of the first Lenormand book I published, " Picture this if you will. You’re sitting at your desk on a lovely Friday afternoon in June playing with your cards. A woman approaches and says, “Oh, I didn’t know you read cards!” excitedly. You reply that you're only learning. She tells you that her Persian kitten, Irina, got out of the house a couple of days prior and asks you to see what the cards have to say about the kitten returning home. You remind her that you’re new to the cards and are a little nervous about asking such an important question. She assures you that she will take what you say with a grain of salt. Ok. The pressure’s off. You begin to shuffle your deck while concentrating on this question, “show me if Irina will return home by the end of the week”. You lay out three cards. They are, Cross-Sun-House. You look at the cards for only a second or two and say, “After church on Sunday, she’ll return home”. No sooner do the words leave your mouth that you begin to second-guess yourself and you start to make excuses, reminding her that you really don’t know how to read these cards yet. Once again, she assures you that it’s fine and thanks you before leaving. As soon as she’s gone you start rethinking what you’d just told her. No wait maybe Irina is in distress (Cross) and she’s stuck in the sun or a very hot place (Sun) and the House card could be someone else’s house. Maybe it’s a yellow house and she’s hot because they have no AC (Sun). What if that woman doesn’t even go to church (Cross)? Oh no! Maybe I spoke too soon and should’ve pondered over the cards longer. Interpreting these cards can’t be that easy. What did I do? You put your cards away and remind yourself that she wasn’t going to take what you said seriously anyway. Upon returning to work the following Monday, you receive an amazing phone call. It’s the woman with the kitten. She tells you that the day before (Sunday), Irina was waiting for her on her patio when she returned from church. Everyone lives happily ever after and a new Lenormand reader is born." I saw the Cross as church, I saw the Sun as Sunday, and the House as home. The Sun card doesn't actually represent Sunday, but I was reading intuitively. The art of card reading requires intuition. Once you learn to differentiate between your intuition (right brain) and your conscious thoughts (left brain), you'll be a star!

Hello Lisa If the fox is looking the other way (carta mundi), are we then looking at the card on his right, since the fox is looking to the right? Thank you for your reply. Sorry for my English, I'm French
In a small spread read from left to right, you may interpret the Fox as bringing a warning that something is wrong and you may not consider where it is facing. You may choose to consider the direction the Fox is looking in tableaus or larger line spreads. This is most significant in a grand tableau, where all cards touching the Fox will explain the danger and the card the Fox is facing can point to where the danger is found.
Hi Lisa, this question came to my mind because depending on the deck we are using, the direction on the cards will be different and I was wondering which version of Lenormand was used in the Philippe Lenormand grand tableau. Was it the Ur-Lenormand Game of Hope? I'm not sure.
There was never a standard, and this is evident from all early decks which differ in the image directions. Simply follow the direction of the deck you're using. The PLOT doesn't specify directions but instead tells you to follow the direction the card in front of you is facing. The only direction it gives is for the Ring and that's because it's not based on the image but on which side of the seeker it falls based on reading a spread from left to right.
No. The energy of the spread is moving from left to right. This shows a progression of events. The vertical columns are a snapshot of a moment. The cards can be viewed more as describing. The cards above impact/affect those below. The cards below are basis cards or what exists. Many use the word "control". Above is weighing on you and out of control and below is what you're bringing to the story or under control. Does that make sense?
Yes, you can use them even if you only have 2 cards down, but always remember that just like houses, directional cues take a back seat to proximity and card order! Always keep in mind what trumps what.
Hey, So in my recent GT my card is on the far left and also facing left. The fox card is looking directly at my back. So does this mean that I’m looking the wrong way? Or I’m just wrong in general? Lol
In a sense, yes! Even though the card image is facing left, you're still moving to the right if you read left to right. Sometimes I'm moved to take note of what the image is looking at or to find some meaning in the fact that it's not facing anything, other times I feel that the direction of the image is unimportant. If you think about it, even if the card was facing the Fox, wouldn't you still see it as moving in the wrong direction? Far left is a great position, but moving into the Fox is telling you that you're moving into something wrong or sneaky. It certainly asks you to be cautious and vigilant. Take note of everything that draws your attention and then keep only what makes sense within the context of the complete story.
@@lisaloveslenormand6357 I was surrounded by ALL of the negative cards in that reading. It was rough. Lisa does the preceding card clue for coffin will apply to the card vertically over the coffin too??
No. The energy of the spread is moving from left to right. This shows a progression of events. The vertical columns are a snapshot of a moment. The cards can be viewed more as describing. Hi Lisa, can you use the directional cues in all spreads (make sure to indicate this before laying the cards)?
Yes, you can use them even if you only have 2 cards down, but always remember that just like houses, directional cues take a back seat to proximity and card order! Always keep in mind what trumps what.
