I read just like this... exactly like this....I don't do the gaze based past future.....even auspicious/inauspicious is an ok ok technique for me. I have a primary method....where they land, clusters and I do use houses a lot. I learnt the GOH technique too but discarded it soon after. My normal left to right keeps my head firmly screwed in one place and yeahhhh❤️

I love how you put it, Prasiddhi! It really does keep your head firmly screwed in one place! LOL!!!

Thank you Lisa! This has helped me and answered my questions about directional readings. I am going to stick with "facing forward" at least until I feel more experienced.

Based on where she is placed is how I would read past, present, future I think, leaving it open to intuition. For me it would be based on the cards around her and her question.

Hi Lisa, interesting video. I was thinking about the other cards, for example, the Scythe. Some readers take in consideration which side of the Scythe is cutting, but there are some decks where it’s on the left side whereas on other decks on the right side. So you can get two different interpretations to the same situation. What do you think about it?

Hello again, Andy! I mention it somewhere - probably in the individual card videos. For example, if you watch my video on the Scythe (ua-cam.com/video/DW4qu2Yl3Gs/v-deo.html), I'll show Scythe cards that have the blade facing left or right or down or up (the last two are useful in tableaus). You'll find the same with the Rider, the Ship, and the dark side of the Clouds card - in some decks it will be on the left, others on the right, many modern decks don't even have a dark side! Always follow the images on whatever deck you're using. When using a new deck, go through it first to check out the directional cues and to be sure you only have one 28 and 29 and no extra cards (unless you know what they mean and intend to use them for that reading).

What if the significator card isn't in the box spread? Do you look at it as that she's not present in the reading? I'm just curious on how others read it. I'm self taught, and learning more as I go.

That's a great question! This video discusses how to interpret directional cards when the seeker's card shows-up. Certain cards are naturally direction-based, whether the seeker's card is there or not. For example, I always read any spread from left to right. Others may read from right to left if the seeker's card faces left and shows-up. This is a rule that's completely up to you. If you read left to right, you are always moving away from the cards to the left and toward those to the right. Your question is posed by you, the seeker, and everything you read is answering that question. Therefore, your card doesn't have to appear in a small spread as the question is yours and the cards are answering it.
As for the cards that come with commonly agreed upon directional cues, such as the Scythe and Clouds, you follow them regardless of the appearance of the significator, yes? The Scythe is pointing to the greatest danger or where the threat is heading. The dark side of the Clouds is worse than the light and cards above the Clouds are safer than those below. Does that help?

What if you are reading for someone else and the significator card doesn't show up? Does that mean that the person I am reading for is withdrawn, or not present in their own life?
I started reading from the grand tableau. The box spread is new for me, so I'm wondering how to read the male or female cards if they don't show up in the 9 card spread. Hope that makes sense?! @@lisaloveslenormand6357

Great question and a great answer. I've had this happen throwing bones and I read it intuitively as the reading wasn't about that person, and it wasn't. It was about her sister, who she just cut ties with. For Lenormand that would not be the case, but I just wanted to share.
