Second, Grogu's story was written to parallel *[Real-life father and daughter Ryan and Tatum O'Neal team up as slick con-artists Moses Pray and Addie Loggins in 1930s Kansas]* in the 1973 film, *Paper Moon.* Within minutes of Addie being delivered to her new home with her aunt, she runs down the road finding Moses (is that even his real character's name, by Jod?) who's truck died and wouldn't start until she was back with him. All great ideas and I wouldn't discount them, but LFL doesn't do fan service for the sake of fantasy. Star Wars is about realistic, relatable characters in a fantasy setting with real-life lessons. Unexpected things happen. I hope they just do animation for most of Luke's story, and deepfake for the short stints he shows up in Live-Action, so nobody's upset they didn't use Sebastian Stan. 🤣

Disney never should have focused on one part of Star Wars. They should have had a Star Wars galaxy world. Multiple stories and all the character we love.

Thing is when Starwars content runs low and things get stale in a franchise, basically when there's nothing of any real interest to talk about, youtubers can't help but sometimes have to rely on click-baity titles to still retain the numbers of views they were getting before.
Disney Parks actors are on another level, I can't wait to see videos of them absolutely nailing Luke's character. Idk if theme park Sabine is a regular or just a special appearance character but I've seen people gushing online about one of the actresses being a spot on representation of her, so I'm excited for this

Disney buying $4 billion worth of IP and then negating 70% of that IP without even using them while they are still alive. So ironic how Lucasfilm, the first multi market blockbuster franchise studio, and Disney, the largest everlasting blockbuster franchise studio, ended up negating each other just like The Last Jedi.
Any time Iger's Disney and Kennedy's Lucasfilm's brings back a Lucas Star Wars favorite it's just to retcon the character, or the legacy. At least, there's very little a theme park appearance can do to affect lore.
The sequel character called “Luke” can’t be the Luke from episodes 1-6 (and the Mandoverse) because it’s a fundamentally different person. There’s no getting around this.
I think this is what the majority of fans have wanted since the OT, and Disney dropped the ball when it was placed in their hands. Now that they may be finally doing it, it could be too late as so much damage has been done to the franchise. I would have gone years ago, but now I'm less enthused about SW and wonder if financially it'll be worth it. Strange how things can change.

George has some fantastic ideas, but fitting them together wasn't his strongest point. Then again, some of us love the ambiguity and the story we create better than what he would've done. Everyone who has a chance to bring something to Star Wars will bring something of their own, but the LFL Story Group is there to make sure it stays within his vision. Nothing's broken. Nothing's damaged beyond repair. Have patience and you'll see that.

None of what Disney has done makes any sense. Pandering to minorities and calling the fanbase names is a recipe for disaster and the constant failures prove that. Instead of giving the fans what they wanted (SW, not something that is not SW but contains a few familiar names and tech because they think the fanbase is dumb and will buy into anything with a lightsabre), they went in a completely different direction and now much of the fanbase has lost interest. Just look at the Acolyte figures. Many people stopped watching after two or three episodes. Disney is failing and is now backtracking to try and get the OT fanbase back on board by bringing Luke back, but I think it's too late as they've disenfranchised the OT fanbase to a greater degree. That's why Disney SW projects are failing left right and centre and being cancelled, often even before they've got to the drawing board. They announce something, then it's cancelled. They're panicking and are trying something that they should have done years ago when the fanbase was still interested. They have no idea what SW really is, and neither do the small amount of people that like what Disney is currently churning out unfortunately. I'd like some good SW again, but I don't expect any any time soon. If they make something that's good, then great, but if they don't, I'll just stick to the OT and Rogue One as I can watch those repeatedly, whereas the modern SW stuff is a struggle to watch the first time round and I've yet to see anything new that is good enough for a second watch.

It's always baffled me why Disney ever ran with the KK-era Lucasfilm idea that Luke's use should be minimized. That's like Disney intentionally shelving Mickey Mouse. Why would a franchise not use its most popular character?
Well let's put it like this, IF Kathy Kennedy were brought in instead to run DISNEY itself, and basically replace Iger. First thing she would do is try to "minimize" the very Disney iconic mascot *Mickey Mouse*. And push "Minnie Mouse" as the new main face of Disney; all because KK has worked under talented *Men* in her entire career in Hollywood, that she holds a secret deep resentment of anyone or anything "Male". When she worked with Spielberg on his indie films back in the day, her Creative input was to advise that Spielberg should just end his Indiana Jones movie where "instead of Indy getting the woman, he gets the dog." To which Spielberg politely rejected her idea. Sitting in on round table brainstorming discussions for Jon Favreau's - "The Mandalorian" in its early days, KK insisted the character of "Grogu" should be Female, just because lol. Favreau politely ignored her. I do get that in the history of Hollywood movie franchise Entertainment, it has been mostly dominated by "Male" heroic main characters. But the way to change that and tip the scales to be abit more level and balanced, is NOT to come up with FEMALE COPY-CAT rip-off versions of those male icons. No one wants a Female version of Igon/Ray/Venkman/Winston, or Female version of "John Connor" or Female version of Luke Skywalker etc. The best most genuine way to go about bringing in more "Female" inclusion in Entertainment, especially into popular franchises is to CREATE ORIGINAL NEW CHARACTERS, that work alongside the Already Existing Male characters. But Hollyweird dont want to do this because A. they have no original ideas of their own, B. they have no ounce of sincerity or honesty.

I'm really beginning to believe that it's something to do with royalties. That and Disney's own gender politic ideology, where they seem to see any character who is "White and Male" as Evil and representative of the Patriarchy.
Those who were fans of IV-VI want those characters to return. They do not understand that new movies tell the ongoing story but do so for a new audience as well as the now older fans of the original movies... They should not make the same mistake with Rey, Finn and Poe that they made with the original cast and continue those stories while the actors can portray the characters at the right age. If they want to revisit the original characters, they can do post Episode VI, but they will need to recast the roles.
I am highly skeptical. When they give us new films 7, 8 and 9 to displace from canon the disappointing films that they foisted upon us AND fire Kathleen Kennedy, then I will believe Disney has acknowledged how badly they goofed.
The only way this could ever truly happen is if Iger were to grow a pair and just NOT renew Mrs Kennedy's contract for another 3 years. Just let her bow out gracefully (if thats even possible). That OR he would have to play things really clever, allow KK her Rey movie, give her all the money she wants to make it, give her FULL CREATIVE FREEDOM to make HER REY MOVIE, Exactly how SHE WANTS, and then just sit back and watch to see if they end up with another - "Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny" Disaster because it's very obvious KK called the shows with that movie and influenced Mangold (like she did Rian) to make that movie EXACTLY how she wanted; why it flopped hard. No Indy fan wanted to see a age, depressed Indiana Jones get outshone in his own movie by that PWB character. If KK gets to make the Rey movie she's always wanted, you can guarantee it will be horrid. Because Kathy Kennedy doesn't understand STAR WARS, and everyone around her at Lucasfilm today are too scared to speak their mind and inform her when any of her own ideas are not good. She will simply want Rey to be this all powerful, highly experienced "Jedi Master" who will completely overhaul and turn the very Jedi ideals inside out, thinking she's really doing something revolutionary. Cause you just know Kennedy will seek to *Subvert* the lore and everything about the Jedi, what they are and what they represent. It would come out and only the minute group of hardcore Feminists and woke critics and articles like Rolling Stone would love the movie, while EVERYONE ELSE in the REAL WORLD would simply not even be able to recognize it as *Star Wars*. Kennedy would be patting herself on the back thinking she has changed the whole game, and meanwhile the movie would flop hard and completely kill any future ideas Disney had planned for the "Rey character". It would only prove the REALISATION that Rey is NOT a bankable character or even hugely liked within the majority of the starwars fanbase. We can all see it, but Kennedy and Disney/Lucasfilm dont (yet).
Disney could break the Galaxy’s Edge experience day or week up, one time for each trilogy, maybe add time for the shows. Such a move may ‘break’ the immersive experience, but it allows broad character experiences and promotion of specific parts of the franchise.
I think its another sign that they are widening the scop and settings on what characters can be brought into Galaxy Edge. Its been an ongoing trend for the past few years. I still wish they could make the place an more open world setting that could bring in characters from other eras in the galaxy by some sort of porta things. And maybe changing the ristanse ride to a Battle of Endor ride.
Except for the great things they do with him like in Mando when he destroyed the death troopers that can sense Force sensitives I believe that was brilliant. The first season of Mando and a good portion of the second season of Mando was really good, including the Skywalker reveal. I don't care. I think it was fantastic but what else they have done with Luke in the movie? The last Jedi that is a disgrace and I don't even acknowledge it. Yeah I seen it actually I seen it twice. It was so bad. Can you imagine how many times I would have seen it if it was good in theater?
So many people were angry at how his arc was ruined, but I was sad. Deeply sad. It was wonderful to see him young and hopeful in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett especially when Ashoka looks at him and smiles when she says to him “So much like your father.” They can write well for him, and they should.

They tossed eu cannon and lied about it and they pushed all of the eu authors out of lucasfilm so they don't have any believe even if disney does bring luke back it doesn't mean they have the proper writers and creatives to accurately adapt the the expanded universe becausenid rather not have content then getting a garbage version of luke skywalker. Given how marvel and disney treates the marvel comics creatives team. Well I can tell you right now, the rumor about Mando sneaking into a remnant based is true. There was a leaked D23 trailer that came out for the movie last year that I saved on my phone before it was taken down that showed footage of snow troopers prepping for battle with a shot of Mando fighting some of them. There was even a shot of Mando charging an AT-AT riding a clone wars AT-RT in a snow setting, so that is most likely 100% true. The imperial remnant will have a part to play in the movie.

Ooo Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge? That’s cool! Hopefully it is a sign of changes to come, though of course it could also just be another walk around character like you said Meg. I also love the idea of Sigorney Weaver working with Grogu and Grogu being more of a bad ass. Him starting to grow up a bit and combine his two skill sets is exactly what I want to see. I’d love it if he speaks by the end. He’s still a total cash cow so I doubt he’ll grow up that much, but I wouldn’t be mad if they did have him mature a bit and created a puppet of him that was slightly bigger. Admittedly the other leaks do sound a bit whacky, but the whole movie sounds like a lot of fun with a lot of action. Maybe not as high stakes and gritty as I wanted, but it looks like we’ll get that in Ahsoka s2 and maybe Filoni’s movie. I’d love a check in with Mandalore, but it doesn’t seem like that’ll be the focus. If we do see it my gueess is it’ll just be briefly.
The Skywalkers are Star Wars. You need to continue and finish young Luke and Leia's journey-it's a massive gap in the lore. I'm sure it's Kennedy seeing any stories about Luke making him front and center as a threat to her agenda.
One way Favreau COULD have gone about it would have been to have Cara Dune get promoted to "New Republic Ranger" status, and she is given a secret mission by "Senator Leia Organa" to track down and apprehend Moff Gideon, after he escaped NR custody. The show could have involved Cara Dune assembling a team of badass rangers to help her in her mission. This is what her spin-off series could have been all about. It would have had a TRUE, REAL "Strong Female" leading the show, and have her build a friendship with Leia because of the two women both being survivors of the destruction of their home world of Alderaan. Future spin-offs could have also followed Senator leia as she slowly works her way up under the guidance and mentorship of one Mon Mothma; but obviously it would be too boring and predictable if Senator Leia just imediately becomes the new Supreme Chancellor; so instead add some intrigue and struggle, by making it where a political rival has somehow done some digging into Leia's background, and especially since her heroic deeds helping lead the Rebellion in the Galactic Civil War against the Empire. And this rival finds out Leia's big secret. That she is infact the daughter of Darth Vader, and they try to blackmail and destroy her hopes of running for the top spot. Just that plot in of itself, could have made some more great content. Another cool spin-off, especially if it could be written as well as "Andor" was. Then they could make a "Adventures of Luke & Grogu" spin-off long-running series (part of the Mandoverse), all about the very early days when Luke ventured out all over the Galaxy, learning about the very ancient *Jedi* and him working out how he will build his own New Generation of Jedi Order; all the while searching for any force-sensitives along the way. But Luke doesn't go about this in the dogmatic old fashioned way of the Jedi from the past. He doesn't convince parents to give up their babies. Instead he asks and invites force sensitives of all ages to be part of something big, that could benefit not only themselves but the entire Galaxy. Kinda like Charles Xavier and his "School for the Gifted". And Grogu is the FIRST EVER STUDENT in this new "Jedi Academy" Luke is trying to build. Infact such a show COULD have been all about them, going on these awesome, fun adventures. Getting into all kinds of mischief along the way, but where they also help people from all kinds of planets in every new episode. Like the adventures of hercules and that sidekick her had.
And I agree that's EXACTLY what this is and WHY Kennedy has pushed Luke out. When all of us saw iconic o.g. Luke skywalker show up and ask Grogu to come with him. We all naturally expected that would lead onto somekind of new spin-off series about those two characters, set in the early days of this still "young Luke". It was a great period of time in the Galaxy to explore. And KK spitefully shut it down, all because of her Feminist agenda. She wants female characters to lead the new eras of STAR WARS; and that's honestly fine, but you have to write compelling characters, and have those character be relatable, and EARN the interest of us Fans first. But clueless Kennedy thought we would all automatically love Rey from the get go because she can do practically anything from the begining, without anykind of hard work, training and stubling. No Flaws, no struggle, no making mistakes. How is anyone supposed to find such a character like that interesting.
Why aren’t Disney theming a park around the Jedi temple? Padawan training. Jedi training. The council room. The library. You could have a Sith incursion as a big set piece. Jedi walking around. Take, as they say, my money… :)
Probably more realistically that Iger is not looking to renew KK's contract, and slowly there is a directional shift happening at Disney, BUT because it takes so much frickin time, they have to basically wait out her contract to end. I'm just worried that Kennedy could make Carrie Beck her successor. Watch credits for end of Ahsoka/Mando S3/Acolyte/Skeleton Crew. You'll see the name - "Carrie Beck" as Exec Producer. She's a background figure at Lucasfilm not alot of fans or even Starwars youtubers know about just yet, but she could become a big figure at the studio into next year, or possibly even by Sept of this year. If Carrie Beck takes over, she'll just be KK 2.05 and will only follow her orders, nothing will change. Favreau is the only best choice to run Lucasfilm and take *Star Wars* into a new direction now.
The Mandoverse era allows allows for our most favorite characters -- it spans from his childhood (flashback just prior to 19bby and through Luke building his temple...can't wait for the evolution. Mando & Boba personnas have been welcomed at the parks...I think they have to take heed
I'm in the "it's too late" group. There was sooo much disrespect to the franchise and to the fans. I can't trust Disney nor Lucasfilm. Only if "the chosen one" takes over the Star Wars universe. You will know "the chosen one" it'll be the one who is a fan, an artist, a storyteller, a builder of lore. Trust no one who use terms like retcon, a new vision, modern audience these and others like it are poison.
Galaxy's edge is incredibly fun immersive, and the Rise of the Resistance ride is 100% gold. Also - i hate the sequel trilogy, but the environment is Star Wars - and when you walk around you can't really tell what timeline this is in - especially with the Falcon being a centerpiece. Fun as hell and i'm glad prime Luke will be walking around. SUPER FUN
what baffles me is that Lucasfilm released a book to promote Galaxy's Edge, written by Timothy Zahn, where Thrawn and Anakin/Vader team up at 2 different points, one storyline during the clone wars and one during the empire, but we can't get Vador or Anakin in Galaxy's Edge, even though there's a blaster burn on the wall in Oga's Canteena that is specificly narrated in said book. Yet, when they do star wars nights, they have meet and greets with all different characters from the whole timeline all over Disneyland. it has to be some kind of Kathleen Kennedy thing trying to force sequel trilogy characters.

He is more of a late teen who has been 'bottled up' by having his prodigious sensitivities heavily pummeled by witnessing Anakin and others slaughter literally everyone he knew (and all that continued to be horrible after that)! Luke’s character coming back is not even tickling me at all. Favreu coming back with full creative control to finish off the Mando storyline would get me back, but it’s not going to happen.
Disney should do an animated series post RT of the Jedi. Let’s see all the events with Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewie, Lando and all characters of that time moving forward towards the force awakens.

I'm sure Luke being at Galaxy Edge will make money because Disney is too big to fail. Their stock is selling at $110.86. I have no idea why, but even a terrible business strategy makes money these days. The damage is done and is irreparable. Star Wars WAS the most popular franchise of all time. However, there are still people out there who like Disney Star Wars. I went back and read the "Jedi Search" Trilogy, and the "Darth Bane" Trilogy, and I'm now reading "The Old Republic" series from the Pre Disney Expanded Universe (EU). That's Star Wars, not the garbage Disney's Lucasfilm creates produces, and releases to the public. "Andor" Season 2 no doubt will be praised as a very good show, but will fans watch this upcoming season as opposed to season 1. That's TBD. Disney Star Wars needs to retcon the sequel trilogy. Until then the two buffoons KK and DF will continue to ruin this already-dead franchise. It's a tragedy.

Just recast Luke, Han and Leia and give us a tv show that takes place between Star Wars / Empire and Empire / Jedi. Also, give us more animated Star Wars! I wish they would CGI Grogu. It would open up so many possibilities for him as a character, rather than looking like an extra out of The Gremlins, or Fraggle Rock. It’s so obvious it’s a puppet, it takes away from any seriousness that they are trying to convey. I much preferred CGI yoda in the prequels. Now HE was a “Badass”.
I dunno, I mean CGI (no matter how realistic it looks) could lose the charm of the character. No amount of CGI can match or beat a Physical, "Practical Effect" that a Actor can React to. When you watch Pedro's performance when he takes off that helmet to look at Grogu and say goodbye, there is no way he could have pulled off their warm performance if he had to pretend, he were holding the little green fella and looking at thin air. CGI can help in action scenes when Grogu is doing spinning, quadruple flips and stuff, but the puppet is still best. I think a mixture of the two if balanced well could work. puppet is part of the charm when we can clearly see its a puppet, that should always be for close ups, then CGI for other more action oriented shots.
@ Yeah i agree, a mixture of the two would make sense. It looked absolutely ridiculous when Grogu was competing against that Mandalorian kid and when he jumps around. Close ups could be with the puppet.
It's about time that Galaxy's Edge adds a Luke Skywalker meet and greet. OT and PT characters should be meeting and greeting on a daily basis. I understand the frustration with Disney making bad business decisions over the past few years. I am not going to say "It's too late". I want Star Wars to thrive going into the future. Disney would be wise to say to fans that they are starting to listen to more feedback from the fans and that better content is coming. Also, new leadership should be announced soon as well.
This popped up on my page. Disney lost me on ALL of its content. What ever they do with Star Wars is a matter of indifference. Disney destroyed two great studios (their own and 20th Century Fox) in order to consolidate IP. They then destroyed the IP they controlled. I'm done.
The epitaph of Star Wars will be not giving fans what they want, when they want it. And the fans want Luke Skywalker post RotJ. Not in a comic book either. The only hope for Star Wars going forward is to recast Luke, Han, and Leia and make live action. No Comic or Coloring books! At this point, Disney is backed into a corner and that's the only way out.

Luke Skywalker needs to return to OUR SCREENS and be TREATED WITH RESPECT. At this point, especially if Kennedy is still calling the shots, I don't trust anything from Disney. Ever since the sequels, they've had a habit of putting our hopes up and then shoving garbage at us. I've kind of got fed up of that.
They should do something with an opportunity to meet Thrawn and Vader together, since Thrawn Alliances takes place in the setting of Galxay Edge! Or Luke can warn us of Thrawn!
Now is the time for Disney to be held accountable and willing to collaborate with Lucasfilm Ltd. to listen to the passionate Star Wars fans who belong to the fandom, the fanbase, and the community. To enhance the Galaxy’s Edge experience at Disney Parks, introducing a younger version of Luke Skywalker alongside two iconic legacy characters like Han Solo and Leia Organa would be a fantastic move. Chewbacca’s presence there is already a great addition. However, the pièce de resistance would be bringing the three main golden trio characters-Luke, Leia, and Han-to appear as their younger selves. This would allow fans to meet and greet these beloved characters, just like Star Wars Weekends used to be.

Too little too late and I am not interested in anything Disney does with the Star Wars franchise going forward. They can't repair the unacceptable damage they have already done with the movies and tv shows they have made to date. They $hit all over the original characters the long term fans have loved since their introduction back in 1977. Disney only cares about catering to the new, young, generation of viewers who don't know or care about Star Wars and its rich history. Disney's Star Wars like it's Marvel brother, don't care or cater to the fans who have been financially supporting and following Star Wars since the beginning. They have made that loud and clear with their scripts and casting. It's not about the stories, the adventures, or the characters we grew up with. It's first and foremost sticking to an agenda to reboot and remake Star Wars and Marvel to fit into the new current social and political viewpoints that Disney itself has. They make the strong male characters we grew up with to be toxic, incompetent, and weak, and instead make every female character smarter, and more capable. That is why they were replacing both Han Solo and Luke Skywalker with Rey. Yup she is the new and improved female Han Solo who is better than he was at smuggling scavenging, and piloting the Millennium Falcon, She is also a more natural and powerful Jedi Knight savant than Luke Skywalker ever was. She is two heroes rolled into one.

Disney missed an opportunity sending Grogu back to Mando, prematurely. Imagine getting adventures with prime Luke & R2. Expanding on training young Grogu, finding padawans, exploring Jedi Temples, collecting Jedi artifacts, meeting Mara Jade, meeting Ahsoka the first time, Cal Kestis (live action) debut, Luke interacting with Valance, The Black Sun, Doctor Aphra, Qi'ra (Crimson Dawn), Omega (New Republic pilot), meeting Ezra post Ahsoka, finishing His Jedi Academy, Luke going to Nar Shaddaa (The Smuggler's moon), Luke & padawan Grogu visit a sacred hidden Jedha Library, The Bendu returns, Gungi aids Grogu imparting Jedi teachings, Luke addresses disturbances in the Force via the Outer Regions etc etc.🎉

Within minutes of Addie being delivered to her new home with her aunt, she runs down the road finding Moses (is that even his real character's name, by Jod?) who's truck died and wouldn't start until she was back with him.
All great ideas and I wouldn't discount them, but LFL doesn't do fan service for the sake of fantasy. Star Wars is about realistic, relatable characters in a fantasy setting with real-life lessons. Unexpected things happen.
I hope they just do animation for most of Luke's story, and deepfake for the short stints he shows up in Live-Action, so nobody's upset they didn't use Sebastian Stan. 🤣

Thing is when Starwars content runs low and things get stale in a franchise, basically when there's nothing of any real interest to talk about, youtubers can't help but sometimes have to rely on click-baity titles to still retain the numbers of views they were getting before.
Disney Parks actors are on another level, I can't wait to see videos of them absolutely nailing Luke's character. Idk if theme park Sabine is a regular or just a special appearance character but I've seen people gushing online about one of the actresses being a spot on representation of her, so I'm excited for this

I am 53 years old.... and I saw Star Wars when I was a CHILD and loved it and had a HUGE first crush on Luke Skywalker - I would be at Disney every weekend (I live about 2 hours from Orlando) to see Luke. 😍
Disney buying $4 billion worth of IP and then negating 70% of that IP without even using them while they are still alive. So ironic how Lucasfilm, the first multi market blockbuster franchise studio, and Disney, the largest everlasting blockbuster franchise studio, ended up negating each other just like The Last Jedi.
Any time Iger's Disney and Kennedy's Lucasfilm's brings back a Lucas Star Wars favorite it's just to retcon the character, or the legacy. At least, there's very little a theme park appearance can do to affect lore.
Now, if we can get LFL to bring Luke Skywalker back in the 5 ABY and 25 ABY era....

I think this is what the majority of fans have wanted since the OT, and Disney dropped the ball when it was placed in their hands. Now that they may be finally doing it, it could be too late as so much damage has been done to the franchise. I would have gone years ago, but now I'm less enthused about SW and wonder if financially it'll be worth it. Strange how things can change.

Disney may be holding their leash and how much they can do, but they don't control how they do it as long as it's within George's vision. They [LFL] have everything he wrote. George has some fantastic ideas, but fitting them together wasn't his strongest point. Then again, some of us love the ambiguity and the story we create better than what he would've done.
Everyone who has a chance to bring something to Star Wars will bring something of their own, but the LFL Story Group is there to make sure it stays within his vision. Nothing's broken. Nothing's damaged beyond repair. Have patience and you'll see that.

None of what Disney has done makes any sense. Pandering to minorities and calling the fanbase names is a recipe for disaster and the constant failures prove that. Instead of giving the fans what they wanted (SW, not something that is not SW but contains a few familiar names and tech because they think the fanbase is dumb and will buy into anything with a lightsabre), they went in a completely different direction and now much of the fanbase has lost interest. Just look at the Acolyte figures. Many people stopped watching after two or three episodes.
Disney is failing and is now backtracking to try and get the OT fanbase back on board by bringing Luke back, but I think it's too late as they've disenfranchised the OT fanbase to a greater degree. That's why Disney SW projects are failing left right and centre and being cancelled, often even before they've got to the drawing board. They announce something, then it's cancelled. They're panicking and are trying something that they should have done years ago when the fanbase was still interested.
They have no idea what SW really is, and neither do the small amount of people that like what Disney is currently churning out unfortunately. I'd like some good SW again, but I don't expect any any time soon. If they make something that's good, then great, but if they don't, I'll just stick to the OT and Rogue One as I can watch those repeatedly, whereas the modern SW stuff is a struggle to watch the first time round and I've yet to see anything new that is good enough for a second watch.
I have a gut feeling we get the Andor Season 2 Trailer tomorrow night on Super Bowl Sunday Feb. 9th even though it’s on FOX! Disney has done this before with both Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Mandalorian Season 3. Does anyone here have the same gut feeling as me?
It's always baffled me why Disney ever ran with the KK-era Lucasfilm idea that Luke's use should be minimized. That's like Disney intentionally shelving Mickey Mouse. Why would a franchise not use its most popular character?
Well let's put it like this, IF Kathy Kennedy were brought in instead to run DISNEY itself, and basically replace Iger. First thing she would do is try to "minimize" the very Disney iconic mascot *Mickey Mouse*. And push "Minnie Mouse" as the new main face of Disney; all because KK has worked under talented *Men* in her entire career in Hollywood, that she holds a secret deep resentment of anyone or anything "Male". When she worked with Spielberg on his indie films back in the day, her Creative input was to advise that Spielberg should just end his Indiana Jones movie where "instead of Indy getting the woman, he gets the dog." To which Spielberg politely rejected her idea.
Sitting in on round table brainstorming discussions for Jon Favreau's - "The Mandalorian" in its early days, KK insisted the character of "Grogu" should be Female, just because lol. Favreau politely ignored her.
I do get that in the history of Hollywood movie franchise Entertainment, it has been mostly dominated by "Male" heroic main characters. But the way to change that and tip the scales to be abit more level and balanced, is NOT to come up with FEMALE COPY-CAT rip-off versions of those male icons. No one wants a Female version of Igon/Ray/Venkman/Winston, or Female version of "John Connor" or Female version of Luke Skywalker etc. The best most genuine way to go about bringing in more "Female" inclusion in Entertainment, especially into popular franchises is to CREATE ORIGINAL NEW CHARACTERS, that work alongside the Already Existing Male characters.
But Hollyweird dont want to do this because A. they have no original ideas of their own, B. they have no ounce of sincerity or honesty.

Those who were fans of IV-VI want those characters to return. They do not understand that new movies tell the ongoing story but do so for a new audience as well as the now older fans of the original movies... They should not make the same mistake with Rey, Finn and Poe that they made with the original cast and continue those stories while the actors can portray the characters at the right age. If they want to revisit the original characters, they can do post Episode VI, but they will need to recast the roles.
I am highly skeptical.
When they give us new films 7, 8 and 9 to displace from canon the disappointing films that they foisted upon us AND fire Kathleen Kennedy, then I will believe Disney has acknowledged how badly they goofed.
The only way this could ever truly happen is if Iger were to grow a pair and just NOT renew Mrs Kennedy's contract for another 3 years. Just let her bow out gracefully (if thats even possible). That OR he would have to play things really clever, allow KK her Rey movie, give her all the money she wants to make it, give her FULL CREATIVE FREEDOM to make HER REY MOVIE, Exactly how SHE WANTS, and then just sit back and watch to see if they end up with another - "Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny" Disaster because it's very obvious KK called the shows with that movie and influenced Mangold (like she did Rian) to make that movie EXACTLY how she wanted; why it flopped hard. No Indy fan wanted to see a age, depressed Indiana Jones get outshone in his own movie by that PWB character.
If KK gets to make the Rey movie she's always wanted, you can guarantee it will be horrid. Because Kathy Kennedy doesn't understand STAR WARS, and everyone around her at Lucasfilm today are too scared to speak their mind and inform her when any of her own ideas are not good. She will simply want Rey to be this all powerful, highly experienced "Jedi Master" who will completely overhaul and turn the very Jedi ideals inside out, thinking she's really doing something revolutionary. Cause you just know Kennedy will seek to *Subvert* the lore and everything about the Jedi, what they are and what they represent.
It would come out and only the minute group of hardcore Feminists and woke critics and articles like Rolling Stone would love the movie, while EVERYONE ELSE in the REAL WORLD would simply not even be able to recognize it as *Star Wars*. Kennedy would be patting herself on the back thinking she has changed the whole game, and meanwhile the movie would flop hard and completely kill any future ideas Disney had planned for the "Rey character". It would only prove the REALISATION that Rey is NOT a bankable character or even hugely liked within the majority of the starwars fanbase. We can all see it, but Kennedy and Disney/Lucasfilm dont (yet).
Disney could break the Galaxy’s Edge experience day or week up, one time for each trilogy, maybe add time for the shows. Such a move may ‘break’ the immersive experience, but it allows broad character experiences and promotion of specific parts of the franchise.

I think its another sign that they are widening the scop and settings on what characters can be brought into Galaxy Edge. Its been an ongoing trend for the past few years.
I still wish they could make the place an more open world setting that could bring in characters from other eras in the galaxy by some sort of porta things. And maybe changing the ristanse ride to a Battle of Endor ride.

I’m really nervous about anything Luke. They took my childhood hero and turned him into a joke.
Except for the great things they do with him like in Mando when he destroyed the death troopers that can sense Force sensitives I believe that was brilliant. The first season of Mando and a good portion of the second season of Mando was really good, including the Skywalker reveal. I don't care. I think it was fantastic but what else they have done with Luke in the movie? The last Jedi that is a disgrace and I don't even acknowledge it. Yeah I seen it actually I seen it twice. It was so bad. Can you imagine how many times I would have seen it if it was good in theater?
So many people were angry at how his arc was ruined, but I was sad. Deeply sad. It was wonderful to see him young and hopeful in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett especially when Ashoka looks at him and smiles when she says to him “So much like your father.” They can write well for him, and they should.

I don't really believe disney anymore they have lost all credibility. They tossed eu cannon and lied about it and they pushed all of the eu authors out of lucasfilm so they don't have any believe even if disney does bring luke back it doesn't mean they have the proper writers and creatives to accurately adapt the the expanded universe becausenid rather not have content then getting a garbage version of luke skywalker. Given how marvel and disney treates the marvel comics creatives team. I just dont care amymore because disney ultimately pushes out the creatives team and treat them horrible by trying to scew authors of there royaltys
Well I can tell you right now, the rumor about Mando sneaking into a remnant based is true.
There was a leaked D23 trailer that came out for the movie last year that I saved on my phone before it was taken down that showed footage of snow troopers prepping for battle with a shot of Mando fighting some of them.
There was even a shot of Mando charging an AT-AT riding a clone wars AT-RT in a snow setting, so that is most likely 100% true. The imperial remnant will have a part to play in the movie.
Did anyone else feel this little spark of hope? We deserve so much more as fans…including an apology. Seriously looking forward to the movie!

Ooo Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge? That’s cool! Hopefully it is a sign of changes to come, though of course it could also just be another walk around character like you said Meg. I also love the idea of Sigorney Weaver working with Grogu and Grogu being more of a bad ass. Him starting to grow up a bit and combine his two skill sets is exactly what I want to see. I’d love it if he speaks by the end. He’s still a total cash cow so I doubt he’ll grow up that much, but I wouldn’t be mad if they did have him mature a bit and created a puppet of him that was slightly bigger. Admittedly the other leaks do sound a bit whacky, but the whole movie sounds like a lot of fun with a lot of action. Maybe not as high stakes and gritty as I wanted, but it looks like we’ll get that in Ahsoka s2 and maybe Filoni’s movie. I’d love a check in with Mandalore, but it doesn’t seem like that’ll be the focus. If we do see it my gueess is it’ll just be briefly.

The Skywalkers are Star Wars. You need to continue and finish young Luke and Leia's journey-it's a massive gap in the lore.
I'm sure it's Kennedy seeing any stories about Luke making him front and center as a threat to her agenda.
One way Favreau COULD have gone about it would have been to have Cara Dune get promoted to "New Republic Ranger" status, and she is given a secret mission by "Senator Leia Organa" to track down and apprehend Moff Gideon, after he escaped NR custody. The show could have involved Cara Dune assembling a team of badass rangers to help her in her mission. This is what her spin-off series could have been all about. It would have had a TRUE, REAL "Strong Female" leading the show, and have her build a friendship with Leia because of the two women both being survivors of the destruction of their home world of Alderaan.
Future spin-offs could have also followed Senator leia as she slowly works her way up under the guidance and mentorship of one Mon Mothma; but obviously it would be too boring and predictable if Senator Leia just imediately becomes the new Supreme Chancellor; so instead add some intrigue and struggle, by making it where a political rival has somehow done some digging into Leia's background, and especially since her heroic deeds helping lead the Rebellion in the Galactic Civil War against the Empire. And this rival finds out Leia's big secret. That she is infact the daughter of Darth Vader, and they try to blackmail and destroy her hopes of running for the top spot. Just that plot in of itself, could have made some more great content. Another cool spin-off, especially if it could be written as well as "Andor" was.
Then they could make a "Adventures of Luke & Grogu" spin-off long-running series (part of the Mandoverse), all about the very early days when Luke ventured out all over the Galaxy, learning about the very ancient *Jedi* and him working out how he will build his own New Generation of Jedi Order; all the while searching for any force-sensitives along the way. But Luke doesn't go about this in the dogmatic old fashioned way of the Jedi from the past. He doesn't convince parents to give up their babies. Instead he asks and invites force sensitives of all ages to be part of something big, that could benefit not only themselves but the entire Galaxy. Kinda like Charles Xavier and his "School for the Gifted". And Grogu is the FIRST EVER STUDENT in this new "Jedi Academy" Luke is trying to build. Infact such a show COULD have been all about them, going on these awesome, fun adventures. And I agree that's EXACTLY what this is and WHY Kennedy has pushed Luke out. When all of us saw iconic o.g. Luke skywalker show up and ask Grogu to come with him. We all naturally expected that would lead onto somekind of new spin-off series about those two characters, set in the early days of this still "young Luke". It was a great period of time in the Galaxy to explore. And KK spitefully shut it down, all because of her Feminist agenda. She wants female characters to lead the new eras of STAR WARS; and that's honestly fine, but you have to write compelling characters, and have those character be relatable, and EARN the interest of us Fans first. But clueless Kennedy thought we would all automatically love Rey from the get go because she can do practically anything from the begining, without anykind of hard work, training and stubling. No Flaws, no struggle, no making mistakes. How is anyone supposed to find such a character like that interesting.

Probably more realistically that Iger is not looking to renew KK's contract, and slowly there is a directional shift happening at Disney, BUT because it takes so much frickin time, they have to basically wait out her contract to end. I'm just worried that Kennedy could make Carrie Beck her successor. Watch credits for end of Ahsoka/Mando S3/Acolyte/Skeleton Crew. You'll see the name - "Carrie Beck" as Exec Producer. She's a background figure at Lucasfilm not alot of fans or even Starwars youtubers know about just yet, but she could become a big figure at the studio into next year, or possibly even by Sept of this year. If Carrie Beck takes over, she'll just be KK 2.05 and will only follow her orders, nothing will change.
Favreau is the only best choice to run Lucasfilm and take *Star Wars* into a new direction now.

The Mandoverse era allows allows for our most favorite characters -- it spans from his childhood (flashback just prior to 19bby and through Luke building his temple...can't wait for the evolution. Mando & Boba personnas have been welcomed at the parks...I think they have to take heed
I'm in the "it's too late" group. There was sooo much disrespect to the franchise and to the fans. I can't trust Disney nor Lucasfilm. Only if "the chosen one" takes over the Star Wars universe. You will know "the chosen one" it'll be the one who is a fan, an artist, a storyteller, a builder of lore. Trust no one who use terms like retcon, a new vision, modern audience these and others like it are poison.

Galaxy's edge is incredibly fun immersive, and the Rise of the Resistance ride is 100% gold. Also - i hate the sequel trilogy, but the environment is Star Wars - and when you walk around you can't really tell what timeline this is in - especially with the Falcon being a centerpiece. Fun as hell and i'm glad prime Luke will be walking around. SUPER FUN

what baffles me is that Lucasfilm released a book to promote Galaxy's Edge, written by Timothy Zahn, where Thrawn and Anakin/Vader team up at 2 different points, one storyline during the clone wars and one during the empire, but we can't get Vador or Anakin in Galaxy's Edge, even though there's a blaster burn on the wall in Oga's Canteena that is specificly narrated in said book. Yet, when they do star wars nights, they have meet and greets with all different characters from the whole timeline all over Disneyland. it has to be some kind of Kathleen Kennedy thing trying to force sequel trilogy characters.

See! Din Grogu IS 'The Mandalorian'! Mu-haha! It's all starting to make sense now! He is more of a late teen who has been 'bottled up' by having his prodigious sensitivities heavily pummeled by witnessing Anakin and others slaughter literally everyone he knew (and all that continued to be horrible after that)! Having been rescued by Din Djarin and meeting Ahsoka and Luke, Grogu has started to emerge from his protective, self imposed, "shield" of child-like innocence! He has already shown that he is fearless and extremely handy when the circumstance requires it! Grogu is truly a badass! Oh... this is gonna get GOOD!

Disney should do an animated series post RT of the Jedi. Let’s see all the events with Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewie, Lando and all characters of that time moving forward towards the force awakens.

I'm sure Luke being at Galaxy Edge will make money because Disney is too big to fail. Their stock is selling at $110.86. I have no idea why, but even a terrible business strategy makes money these days. The damage is done and is irreparable. Star Wars WAS the most popular franchise of all time. However, there are still people out there who like Disney Star Wars. I went back and read the "Jedi Search" Trilogy, and the "Darth Bane" Trilogy, and I'm now reading "The Old Republic" series from the Pre Disney Expanded Universe (EU). That's Star Wars, not the garbage Disney's Lucasfilm creates produces, and releases to the public. "Andor" Season 2 no doubt will be praised as a very good show, but will fans watch this upcoming season as opposed to season 1. That's TBD. Disney Star Wars needs to retcon the sequel trilogy. Until then the two buffoons KK and DF will continue to ruin this already-dead franchise. It's a tragedy.

Just recast Luke, Han and Leia and give us a tv show that takes place between Star Wars / Empire and Empire / Jedi. Also, give us more animated Star Wars! I hate the de-fake / de-aging. it doesn't work and it's not feasible. it costs too much money and it limits the story telling. let's go, let's get this right!
I wish they would CGI Grogu. It would open up so many possibilities for him as a character, rather than looking like an extra out of The Gremlins, or Fraggle Rock. It’s so obvious it’s a puppet, it takes away from any seriousness that they are trying to convey. I much preferred CGI yoda in the prequels. Now HE was a “Badass”.
I dunno, I mean CGI (no matter how realistic it looks) could lose the charm of the character. No amount of CGI can match or beat a Physical, "Practical Effect" that a Actor can React to. When you watch Pedro's performance when he takes off that helmet to look at Grogu and say goodbye, there is no way he could have pulled off their warm performance if he had to pretend, he were holding the little green fella and looking at thin air. CGI can help in action scenes when Grogu is doing spinning, quadruple flips and stuff, but the puppet is still best. I think a mixture of the two if balanced well could work. puppet is part of the charm when we can clearly see its a puppet, that should always be for close ups, then CGI for other more action oriented shots.
@ Yeah i agree, a mixture of the two would make sense. It looked absolutely ridiculous when Grogu was competing against that Mandalorian kid and when he jumps around. Close ups could be with the puppet.
It's about time that Galaxy's Edge adds a Luke Skywalker meet and greet. OT and PT characters should be meeting and greeting on a daily basis. I understand the frustration with Disney making bad business decisions over the past few years. I am not going to say "It's too late". I want Star Wars to thrive going into the future. Disney would be wise to say to fans that they are starting to listen to more feedback from the fans and that better content is coming. Also, new leadership should be announced soon as well.

The epitaph of Star Wars will be not giving fans what they want, when they want it. And the fans want Luke Skywalker post RotJ. Not in a comic book either. The only hope for Star Wars going forward is to recast Luke, Han, and Leia and make live action. No Comic or Coloring books! At this point, Disney is backed into a corner and that's the only way out.

To enhance the Galaxy’s Edge experience at Disney Parks, introducing a younger version of Luke Skywalker alongside two iconic legacy characters like Han Solo and Leia Organa would be a fantastic move. Chewbacca’s presence there is already a great addition.
However, the pièce de resistance would be bringing the three main golden trio characters-Luke, Leia, and Han-to appear as their younger selves. This would allow fans to meet and greet these beloved characters, just like Star Wars Weekends used to be.

Too little too late and I am not interested in anything Disney does with the Star Wars franchise going forward. They can't repair the unacceptable damage they have already done with the movies and tv shows they have made to date. They $hit all over the original characters the long term fans have loved since their introduction back in 1977. Disney only cares about catering to the new, young, generation of viewers who don't know or care about Star Wars and its rich history. Disney's Star Wars like it's Marvel brother, don't care or cater to the fans who have been financially supporting and following Star Wars since the beginning. They have made that loud and clear with their scripts and casting. It's not about the stories, the adventures, or the characters we grew up with. It's first and foremost sticking to an agenda to reboot and remake Star Wars and Marvel to fit into the new current social and political viewpoints that Disney itself has. They make the strong male characters we grew up with to be toxic, incompetent, and weak, and instead make every female character smarter, and more capable. That is why they were replacing both Han Solo and Luke Skywalker with Rey. Yup she is the new and improved female Han Solo who is better than he was at smuggling scavenging, and piloting the Millennium Falcon, She is also a more natural and powerful Jedi Knight savant than Luke Skywalker ever was. She is two heroes rolled into one.
