stop tipping ppl who give bad service; they'll start giving good service right away once they realize if they aint doing their job they aint getting tips
@@mimipicard9879Sadly. They call you broke if you don’t want to tip a bad service, yet they beg you to tip them cause they’re working a minimum wage job 😐 Make it make sense. Even CASHIERS!! They have the audacity to press 15% on the kiosk. (I think it’s 18% minimum now.)
@@mimipicard9879usually people expect a tip and most people will tip even if the service was just ok and nothing special. I still think it's crazy to tip for horrible service
Yeah it just encourages these shitty employees to keep being shitty, and it discourages employees who go above and beyond and get rewarded the same as the laziest person on their team
Im so confused at how these people tip when they didn't even get what they asked for. And if it was an actual health concern like bleeding nails?? What?? I would not even pay for this, or pay on credit card and take pics and try get it refunded. That's an outrage.
It’s such a hard position in the states bc (not necessarily w beauty techs) but in other services they aren’t being paid livable wage so it’s hard like yes they deserve to survive comfortably even if they weren’t great yk..?
TOO MANY WOMEN ARE VERY TIMID AND LET OTHERS WALK ALL OVER THEM. So many can’t even handle basic conversations with strangers. It’s their own fault for getting taken advantage of. They need to stand up for themselves. It isn’t very cutesy so be a doormat
@@OhDontMindMeeyeah it’s not cute, we’ve just been conditioned to not take up more space than we need to. We can be upset because we can’t make a a big deal over “something insignificant” and being told to be “the bigger person” It’s a hard thing to break out of, easier said than done to stop being a doormat
These techs should have lawyers look over their websites and policies too. “Non refundable deposits” are technically illegal (because you can’t keep someone’s money if no service was rendered). Instead you could use a “booking fee” to save appointment slots. It’s all how you word it.
Thats not true at all? Idk who told u that but its incorrect. The only times a non refundable deposit hasnt held up in court is when the business breached the contract (which makes sense & in that case should always be refunded). A deposit protects the client & the business, & are perfectly legal.
You’re right, I should have said “sometimes legal”. Rules vary by state, but by definition a deposit goes toward a service. Using “retainer” in the contract might make more sense (depending on what a lawyer advises, of course 😉). That’s the point. Get specific legal advice just to be sure. (Don’t just listen to me or internet advice in general 😁). Contracts just need to be valid and each situation is different. In court the business owner may have to prove that the client caused monetary losses by canceling in order to win a case, for example.
And for these reasons, I gave up nail salons. I ended up doing my own nails. By no means I'm a nail technician. But I have gotten many compliments on them. And If I mess up, it just helps me to improve. And if I feel very lazy, press on and a coat of clear gel does the job. 🤷🏻♀️
I can't stand people who say they tip 20% no matter what. So the person who goes above and beyond gets the same amount of money from you as the person who does absolutely nothing or does an awful job? I'm confused... I tip based on how good you do.
Indeed. It's a concept that was borrowed from the food service industry, and so it doesn't translate perfectly into other kinds of service jobs. With restaurants, it's used because the workers are paid below minimum wage and often people would punish the workers by not tipping for things that had nothing to do with the waiter such as not liking the food as much as they hoped or delays in the kitchen. So it was encouraged to always give that 20% (or at least 15%) tip unless you had an issue with the actual server, such as rudeness or them obviously ignoring you, etc. In my opinion, the business should just pay it's workers properly, but I digress... Tips are supposed to be extra, and I think that yes, it is always correct to tip any time you have good to exceptional service, with the tip amount reflecting the level of service and keeping into consideration the cultural norms. But always tipping the maximum even for terrible service is something that people should not do as it's rewarding bad behavior, especially if there's likely no other way the person is going to experience a consequence for their poor or harmful actions outside of not getting a good tip. In places like nail salons, tips should be incentive for providing top notch customer service, not something the nail artist feels entitled to despite ignoring what their client wanted and doing an extremely poor job.
Well if they do a crappy job you do not go back. But not tipping make you look like a cheapskate because many of these job the base salary is min wage which federally is like $7.75. If it is a waitress there min wage is $2.85. But I would never waste my money on this anyway.
@@JAM661 idc what it makes me look like. If you tell someone you can do something they're asking for, like nails for example, and you KNOW you can't but you're just trying to make some money off of them, that's scamming someone and they don't deserve a tip. It's clear when someone lies to you and tells you they know how to do something they don't... there are consequences to your actions and choices.
This is NOT inflation people, it’s PRICE GOUGING! It’s also from the pendulum swinging from “the customer is always right “ to “the customer is never right.”
I agree, while I understand that price of supplies has gone up some it hasn’t gone up as much as these techs are charging for. We also have newbie techs charging expert prices.
I work in customer centered job and I jokingly say the customer is always wrong, but that's obviously not true in most of these horrendous cases. It's crazy that ppl will tip after getting a disservice.
@@dyanadebruin2166good point, if ppl will pay hundreds for cake/luxury they can choose to, but if the job isn't done right, they dont deserve the cost of a job done wrong.
This is why I started selling custom sets that can be shipped to the customers door. People don’t have time/money to go to the salon like they used to. I custom fit them to their nails, they send me their inspo pics and we design them together. I send over a sample nail photo for them to ok and THEN ask for 50% deposit. I ask for the rest once they’re in the mail. Even the most blinged out colorful sets are usually less than $100 including shipping. Also includes all the stuff they need like glue/sticky tabs, emery boards, buffers, alcohol pads and reusable cuticle pushers. Usually takes me 2-3 days to complete and then another 2-3 days to ship. I’ve found people like this method much better
$55 fill w/gel $24 gel pedi. I tip $20 because they do good work, salon is clean, all tools cleaned in autoclave, files and pumice are from sealed packaging. I have dealt with toe nail fungus for many years, they put a disposable liner in the pedi bowl, which I appreciate because I got the fungus from a dirty salon. And I know that I’m not passing that crap to someone else. Aand for the first time in years my toenails are healing.
Ugh- I also got a nail fungus on my toes the one time I got a pedicure. It took years to get rid of it... (It has returned on one nail, but it's not bad) I got it 20 years ago!!
😂😂😂 I love this! American tipping is crazy to me. We don't really tip in the UK. What's the point? It seems like people in the US feel like they have to tip or they're seen as bad or cheap but why go out of your way to give someone more money when they don't deserve it?
@@SamanthaTotimeh I think it's a cultural thing here perpetuated by these companies to make customers feel bad for not tipping instead of paying their employees a fair wage. So, people feel obligated to tip because they know people don't make much without it, which is crazy!
I don't tip unless the service was better than the bare minimum. Our laws about protecting restaurants to pay their waiters $5 and rely on tips is ridiculous!
I’ve been going to the same nail salon for 15 years - two owners. The same nail tech (except maternity leave) has been doing my nails for 12 years - I absolutely love her! Prices are posted, $50 for dip, $5 for one nail design, $15 for all 10 nails. I do not get acrylic nails or tips. I tease her that she’s so good I pass - no exaggeration - 9 other salons. After she took a full-time office job, 3 years ago, her availability went to Saturday only and on rare occasion Friday evening. No matter still love her! Auntie, just found your channel. You are a great you-tuber!
And this is why I got a degree on “doing my own nails” on UA-cam University… I got a whole set up at the crib and do my gel x .. yes it takes me two hours but I’m at peace ☮️
I don’t use press ones or got into acrylic tips (however DIY is always cheaper), but I just paint them at home. I can experiment with new colors and if I don’t like it, it was cheap and can be taken off and changed immediately! I also plan to experiment with nail art. It’s so worth it, and I love the pride of when I do an almost-professional looking manicure on myself
It is dangerous but don't say it is the same as drinking and driving. Driving under the influence is bizarre but definitely not even close to hoe dangeoud recording a video is not that alarming
Agreed. I just watched a video of a Russian girl who was live streaming while driving and she drove head-first into oncoming traffic. She did not survive. 😢
She’s in the passenger seat sometimes it looks like she’s in the driver seat because the camera tends to flip things around. If you live in a country where you drive on the left side in videos it can look like you’re on the right side and it’s the same thing swapped if you’re driving on the right it will make it look like you’re on the left. Since the passenger seat is on the right side it looks like she’s in the driver seat aka left side.
PSA!!! A NAIL TECHNICIAN CAN NOT CONTINUE A NAIL SERVICE IF THEY CUT OR NICK YOUR SKIN!! It doesn’t matter if you’re not bleeding, the nail product getting under that cut whether it’s bleeding or not, can cause severe infection and long term damage to the nail and skin
that’s why I’m telling yall to stop going to them chop shops and come to an independent nail tech🤦🏽♀️ independent nail techs actually know what the fuck their doing. even tho it might be more expensive your getting your money’s worth because you’ll get a good service and be better taken care of. many independent techs are also trained well enough that they won’t even cut/nick you in the first place. that’s my two cents
15:30 Yes. I own 4 and have my carry license. I’m only 4’11” and I only carry during certain times of the year and if I have to go somewhere sketchy. If one is not comfortable with them, I don’t recommend them. However, if one is curious, go to a range with someone that has experience. Idk about yall, but sets like the “$90” set used to be $25. So she was completely right about that. The most I used to see nails be was $65. I used to get extra long acrylic nails for $160. So I can imagine how much they’d be now a days.
I make custom press-ons as a hobby, I've been giving them away for free. Damn, if these people can get $160 for shoddy work then maybe I should start charging!
as a nail tech in training (independent) trust me, we need to price high because the cost of materials is insane out here. idk about the nail salons if they get their materials provided for them since I’m training to be independent but at least for solo nail techs it’s crazy out here.
This stuff is exactly why I swapped to doing my own Gel X. It's super easy and with a little practice my nails look just as good as the shops I went to before (I've never been a nail art person, but I even do that now with stickers, vs always getting plain nails before!). I went to a salon to get stilettos the last time I dared to 'treat' myself, and they cut my cuticles too far, sanded my finger raw, and they looked like dog water for $110 WITHOUT tip! Now I spend like $150 for a full YEAR of nails.
depends on the service, in restaurants long waits are not the server's fault 90% of the time so I'll tip unless the server specifically did something to me. Otherwise, yeah if you didn't do what I asked and I have the option to go elsewhere next time, I don't see a reason to tip
10:29 just because people are mindful of money, it doesn’t mean they are broke. It means they are smart with their money. I’m not broke and I cheap out on a lot of stuff because I’m not throwing my money away needlessly.
Definitely! My grandma is "mindful" with money. She owns several properties, and has accumulated a decent amount of savings despite only having an 8th grade education and working a retail job for 20 years before her retirement.
This isn’t everybody of course, but nail salons/hair stylists/barber shops are known to get real uppity and even vindictive towards clients that aren’t happy with the job or complain or don’t tip. I’ve heard and read horror stories of how some women got harassed through text/social media/mail from stylists that took their criticism personally and are out for blood. Also, lots of salons and barber shops are fronts for shady business practices underneath (drug trafficking basically), and people know not to mess with folks like that. Again, this isn’t everywhere, but depending on where you live, you get conditioned to just keep quiet and walk away without causing issues for your own safety.
I really want to know too ... bcz I won't even let them continue to waste their time, products or my time, money and patience. Nope! 👎🏽 I have walked up out of a few nails shops with incomplete nails, bcz I'm not paying for whatever they felt like I should like, or what they felt like doing!
@@charisma-hornum-fries Various reasons. Sometimes people genuinely can’t tell which businesses are safe and which isn’t (especially if you live in a busy city and there’s dozens of hair stylists). Sometimes it comes down to prices (which is relatable to me, my family never had much money and we often had to go wherever was cheaper for important events). Again, it’s more a cultural thing than anything. It’s better nowadays, but it hasn’t completely gone away.
This is exactly why I’ve invested in the tools to do my own acrylic & press one myself 😭 & I don’t own a pewpew bc i live in Japan and it’s illegal 😂 P.s you give auntie vibes not only bc of ur clothes (not a dig bc you’re always so classy and well put together) but u keep it real all the time! 😩💞
If were talking about the same lady she said she got dip nails, it was the gel polish put ontop of that, that just popped off. Personally I think the filed her dip nails to smooth, so the gel polish wouldn't stick. Or they oiled the nail before polish either way, A very easy fix.. 😊
And then you'd get shit service every time or at least no incentive to give very good service. I have a favorite nail tech and I take care of her well and in turn she takes care of me. Squeezes me in, stays late for me, etc. That's what tipping is for and I prefer it. Of course tho, if someone does a crap job or is rude then the tip or lack thereof should reflect that.
@@BJM1134 if someone is shitty at their job, then its the employer's responsibility to either train them or fire them. the basic understanding for a business is that just give good customer service. above that is a bonus the employee gets based on both parties (employee and client) relationship. if you as a customer wanna tip, great. but employee should not make it mandatory or look down at customers who dont tip. overall, mandatory tipping is just a room for people to be shitty and scam others.
In the US there's a minium wage for regular workers and then another minium wage for people who work for tips. When I was working for tips it's was right over 2$ an hour. I got a paycheck every 2 weeks for 0$ because it all went to taxes.. Before you travel please research if the place is actually paying their workers in the tipping industry are paid a good wage. If not then you need to tip at least 20%. These workers are busting their ass to serve people.
@@tuttyfat never said tipping is the fault of the employee. but if the states actually passes the bill to pay minimum salary of $2 an hour, then thats the root cause of the problem. simple as that. no one can live with that salary even 10 years ago. a fixed min salary is required based on the states medium income solves the problem. mandatory tipping should never made it to normal workers (based on the origin story of tipping culture) in the first place.
This is why I do my own nails at home. I learned during Covid lock down with online tutorials with LongHairPrettyNails here on UA-cam and now I never go to a nail salon. I can do acrylic, dip, polygel, gel x, everything.
Yesss!!! Gel X and Polygel especially are so easy when you get over the hump of the learning curve! I spend for like a year of sets what I would spend in one go now if you include the tip cost. Plus, it's a relaxing way to wind down for me. Podcast on, glass of wine, and an hour or so of my downtime twice a month or less? And I Know I am gonna get what I want?! So much better.
As a man, I am genuinely curious as to why women want to have these ridiculous nails with designs and butterflies? I don’t understand, we men don’t care/like it. A manicure, sure. Ugly dry feet aren’t comfortable (from a man who has blisters on both big toes due to walking 10’s of miles a day), so I understand a manicure. My toenails grow terrible due to how I maneuver around at my warehouse jobs.
TURBOMIKEIFY women do it for themselves not for men to like. not everything is about a man. If a man I’m dating tells me he doesn’t like a design on my nails id look at him like 😐 and explain to him that I don’t like feminine men.

I thought leaving the nail salon with bloody fingers was normal. The worst was when a guy poured acetone over my fingers with cuts on them and it burned so badly. I stopped going to nail salons years ago cause it wasn’t worth being in pain for $70.
2:37 those nails don't even look like they have top coat on... E- nail file 50$ (and Melody Susie is awesome 👍)Uv/LED Lamp 30$, hand held nail file 1$. Color 4-5$. All the UA-cam knowledge- FREE OF CHARGE ❤️🙏
The way she said "you ain't do nuthin for me" 😂. But why would you tip if you don't like the nails? Also, as a nail tech, I must say many people don't have straight fingers/nails. Sometimes you wouldn't even realize this until you put on long nails. Sometimes the nail bed could be slanted or the finger itself could be slightly crooked. But a good nail tech knows how to compensate for that and have the nails look straight.
Yes!! This 💯! I have crooked, downward growing, and curling nails. It's a pain finding someone that can do my nails half way decent. I'm learning to do my own because I'm tired of going to chop shops where they cut you with nail files, drill bits, etc. Pry off old product with another tip and making you bleed, making fun of you for bleeding, using the same stuff they just used on someone else, etc. Back then I was stupid and thought that's how things were done. My nails would be sore for 3 days because of how thin they would prep my nails with a sanding band, how rough they filed after application, cut me with the white drill bit and laugh because my skin was dry and that's why I got cut and bled, use their finger nails to pry the acrylic off of my skin before shaping because they made a mess, didn't even build them properly so they'd break but wouldn't fix it if you broke it outside their shop so you had to pay to get them fixed, lied about what hard gel was (when I agreed they pulled out a colored acrylic and used monomer to apply it and called it hard gel, which back then I didn't know any better), etc the list could go on. I've learned a lot off of UA-cam official nail techs and never looked back. My nails are healthier than they ever were when I used to get them done at those nasty places.
I do the same. I've had too many times where nail techs have cut me with the nail dremel and left me bleeding. I learned how to do my own polygel nails, and I keep my hair cut relatively straight so it's easy to cut.
Yup …. Not that I go to nailtechs 😅😂 But miss busiswa persuaded me and bought my first press on nails and cannot wait to try them! A hundred nails for 10 euro and glu is 5 EUR and can try like 20 times and all.
I once got a refill black matte nails. No design, just a refill. Charged nearly the same price as if it was a brand new set. Their price says refills are $20 or so but I was confused on how we got to $75+ for the refill. They charged for size, shape, color, matte gloss, EVERYTHING. Wasn’t even good cause the matte started peeling that day 😭😭 now my new nail tech charges me $50-$55 for a new set max, no matter shape or size or design
This is why I stopped going to nail salons, and learned how to do my own! I watched UA-cam videos and purchased everything I needed. It’s been almost 3 years now and get asked all the time who does your nails? And when I say I do, they ask if I can do their nails? I do not do other people’s nails. I am so grateful that the Lord has given me the talent to do my nails. ❤️😊
5:45 - Their chart used to be correct but it faded over time. Red ink fades the fastest from UV light and orange minus red equals yellow. Time to reprint.
The US nail service quality standards are so low they are burning in hell. The policy about coming with bare nails is crazy and unsafe. Example you want to book with her but you don’t have a time or place that you trust to go and take nail off safely. What you should do then rip them off ? It can damage your nails very badly. I’m from Kazakhstan here if we don’t get a perfect nails we’re complaining. Also any professional would prefer to take your nails themself so it will be safe, also we don’t do soaking anymore because it’s drying your nails and skin and can cause dermatitis. A lot of salons use medical equipment to sterilize the instruments, also you take your file and buff with you ( you don’t get it only in situations when nail tech uses special metal form with one use file stickers). instruments come in the sealed craft pack and opened in front of you, also it has a mark that indicates that it went through sterilization. They clean your cuticle very well and paint very close to it so your set will last longer. I’m not even talking about design, our girls can do anything you ask them. If not, they will offer stamps, stickers, gems and more to please you. Most of them constantly going to master classes even if they are an established professional. And mind you, you don’t need a license to work. But the industry itself set such a high standard so you will not survive if you don’t do great work. Of course we have bad nail techs but they are exceptions not the rule. Oh and another thing, any business that provides services is obliged to provide a price list so they can’t charge you more on the fly and design is usually communicated beforehand if it’s not one color.
They want your nails bare bc some techs are using MMA monomer. It's a mess to remove and hard as a rock. Illegal in most states, maybe all states in the US. If you go to a salon make sure they use a brand new file and new sanding band. Don't let anyone use scissors on your cuticle area! Never go back if someone is rude! Accidents do happen....
Also, Kiss has the press nails that don’t require glue. They’re called Impress and they will last up to two weeks on my nails and I can’t get regular polish to last more than a day.
I am confrontational. I went to a nail salon in Dallas Texas only wanted acrylic overlay square and a slight curve in the top. The guy wanted to make them flat. I stood up handed him 20 and went to walk out. His tiny wife locks the door and said she was going to call the cops. I said go ahead I bet he doesn't even have a real license! She was like well I am not letting you out and so I told her I will pick you up and move you out of my way woman. My son was with me and he said yeah she will! So she moved and I left and went to a different place to get them to fix them. You girls gotta get crazy because most of those salons do not have real license. Check them on it. They get real twitchy when you check them.
Why I went to nail school. Crazy enough I went because I wanted to be a nail tech but then after getting jobs denied realized it wasn't for me and chose the route not to do this. And now just watching this video made realize this but on the bright side I do mine and families nails and don't regret going to nail school not one bit cause I don't have to go to nail salons 🙂 💅
Listen ladies, if you go to a restaurant and order a fillet mignon and they bring you a piece of salmon, you tell them they got it wrong and expect them to correct your order, right? When you and your nail tech agree on a set & style of nails to be done, they need to be done right! Hold them accountable, don't settle for anything less than what you agreed upon!
That is tough because once it’s done, redoing it means soaking everything off. It’s like getting a bad color in the salon. They can’t just strip it out and rebleach there and then; it’s too much on you
@@dirtyprancing5930 Then you make sure they never fuck up again by calling them out. Accepting anything even though it looks nothing like you wanted while you PAID for it is literally what's giving these nail tech dupe asses the sheer audacity to act this way, getting away with their bs

I also hate the salons where you look online, find a price, go to said salon and then ask for the price and they say more... I print out what's on the site. I have a pew pew. When I lived in Japan, I had a nail tech that worked from home…she was amazing!!! My new nail tech blows my mind and always exceeds my expectations. I paid 140 for my nails and feet… very reasonable since I opted for nail designs and embellishments.
I have a p365 Sig. it fits in every purse even in its holster. Absolutely carry on you at all times. It gives you a better chance in a situation where you wouldn’t have any at all.
Make sure you get to the range. Practice malfunction drills. Also weapon retention. I'm partial to revolvers. They are less likely to jam also you can put it in your coat pocket.fire through your coat. Very hard to fire through your coat with a semi automatic b/c the slide needs space to go to the rear. Stay safe out there. And remember, the only time your finger is on the trigger is if you intend to shoot. ❤
I have a Sig P365 Macro. I LOVE it! My hubby and I go to the range almost every weekend to practice. I don’t carry in my purse tho. I carry on body in a variety of different holsters. My favorite is my belly band or my Constantine Hunter belt with an IWB holster from Crossbreed.
My older is a nail tech and hairstylist so I just be like you can do whatever to my nails 💅 as long as it gel overlay and she just be going wild and I love it. But what seen and learn from her you gotta have a passion for it.
I do not have one because I am under age, but my uncle is a police officer and he has a tradition where he gets , every female ❤❤ a safety pew pew on their 21st birthday and we obviously had it license and everything
Getting cut with unclean tools is such a health risk I don’t think it’s even worth the risk going to bad quality places. Think of all the blood diseases you can catch!!
I am married but my hubby travels for work a lot so I absolutely have multiple pewpews. I have a pistol that stays by my bed and a German shepherd that sleeps in it. I’m good!
This is why I started doing my own nails at home about 10 years ago. The prices were just starting to spike in the nail shops and the quality wasn't there either. I be using press ons and typically can last me almost a week. So there are options. Also there are many black women who are experiencing racism in these shops too... So yeah
As a nail tech(i live in South Africa) something that legit changed my life and helped save some money was getting a mini UV sterilization box for my nail tools. Especially nail files. I clean them off with a hard nail brush and put them in the box for 2 cycles(front and back) and i usually replace my files after two weeks but i do throw tgem away if i nick someone and there is blood on it. Gors straight to the trash. My other nail tools that are metal based, i sanitize them once a week with barbiside but i do use sterilatation spray every day, b3fore every client and i put tgem in the sterilization box at the end of every day. I would recommend any nail tech to geth that box, its affordable and a game changer in tge long run and its even easy to transport. I hope this helps a few at home nail tech and side hussle nail techs. Get it. Its great.❤❤❤
This is why I learned how to grow out my nails and do them at home. I kept having terrible experiences back-to-back and NEVER went back. Since the pandemic Nail Salon quality went down the drain.
I’m tired of tipping culture too.. I don’t tip often I wanna work on tipping more. I wanna tip restaurants more but tipping hairstylist etc. don’t sit right either me. && I don’t have a pew pew yet but I will when I’m of age.
I went to one salon and they cut me and I’m on blood thinners. It took a lot to stop the bleeding. I went to my usual salon and they fixed it. They knew exactly what salon I had gone to just by the name of the street it was on. Luckily I had cream at home to stop from getting an infection left over from my surgery.
I don’t have a pew because my dad (33 years being a police detective) told me that I’m so much more likely to have it used against me that it wasn’t worth the risk. Same thing about keeping a MagLight flashlight on my nightstand. I thought it could be a good weapon and he said I’d be hit with it in my sleep if there was an intruder. 🤷🏽♀️
Your Dad did you wrong. If you actually take the time to train with your firearm you'll be so much better off. Just having it does very little for you if you don't actually invest your time into becoming proficient with your firearm. That goes for EVERY firearm owner, Law enforcement included. (People seem to assume Law enforcement officers know a lot about firearms and are well-trained with them. That's just plain false. Most departments have very limited mandatory range time and officers aren't training on their own time.)
I’m done with the shops mediocre quality work and high prices. I do my own nails at home now and absolutely loving the Londontown and Mooncat brands.💅🏾✨
I work in a nail salon and gel x for new clients start at $90, returning clients start at $110. I went independent and only charged $75 including design. The amount of hate I got from the local black community made me shut down. Now I just make press ons for myself and nail content online. T-T
Girl it be your own people… most of my clients are of other nationalities and that was not my intention when I opened. I am in 3rd ward Houston because I wanted to offer services and bring business to the black community but my clients drive 1h from woodlands, Katy, gavelston ect I have two from Dallas, one that lives in Maryland and two from Atlanta… how many from the neighborhood I am located in ? 1 just one 💀
Press ons are a great option but you still have to be careful with them. It was what I started with until I got a fungal infection from an unopened box. It was a well known brand as well. Nail beds and the skin around them are quick to infection, so no matter what you do make sure everything is sanitized and clean! Have everything wiped down/soaked with a barbacide and pure alcohol. It really makes the biggest differences!!!!
About a year or so ago...during late 2022.2023....I went to 3 Nail shops in 1 day....asking them to wash their hands 1st before doing my nails....they got attitudes ....used the disinfectant alcohol gel, and or just flat out refused to wash their hands?.... they are supposed to wash their hands before providing the service to the customer.....and the thing is...we all just went through the Pandemic??.....These were all Korean shops by the way....smh.....so I became so frustrated , i may have reported a couple salons to the state....but I stopped getting my nails done for about year...because I couldnt find good service....and not to mention that most do not know how to shape the nails...or some may not remove all of the old nail polish??....and forget about buffing the nails...to provide a smooth finish on the nails, that is out of the question...they don't know how to or care about buffing nails....I attended Cosmetology school back in the day, so I know first hand what they are not doing...We have to dial it back a bit to the 80's/ 90's where the Nail Techs upheld state regulations and provided professional service in Nail salons....Those were good times and there was so much talent in the city where I grew up...the one and only "D" the Motor City, they had Hair/Nail magazines...competitions etc......Where are they?

If it's a service where tips aren't mandatory (so basically anything outside of waiters) then a tip is extra. It doesn't have to be given at all.

No one gets no tip from me unless the service is exceptional.

Why do people wait until they have finished their nails to complain. Why not stop them in the process.
Nope! 👎🏽 I have walked up out of a few nails shops with incomplete nails, bcz I'm not paying for whatever they felt like I should like, or what they felt like doing!

you guys need to normalized not tipping like every other country out here. stop picking up the slack where employers shouldve provided to the workers.

@marielanders4806 oh my goodness... sounds like horror story after horror story.
I love when the woman told the kid ‘Call your dad and ask’ 😮🙄👀
I would get a pew pew if I lived alone. Especially if I operated a business.
100% this. No one has perfectly straight nails.
That's why I do my own nails and cut my own hair. I got tired of coming home, crying, and fixing the damage they did. No, thank you.
I feel ya especially as someone like myself who is OCD
Spot on!
I do the same. I've had too many times where nail techs have cut me with the nail dremel and left me bleeding. I learned how to do my own polygel nails, and I keep my hair cut relatively straight so it's easy to cut.
I cut my own hair! If they're going to charge me 20-30$ for something I can (and have) replicate at home then why would I pay someone to do it?
I cut my own hair, but I would get my nails done on my birthday. Last time my fingers burned when they were under the UV lights. Never again
I get my nails done in Europe for about 33$ USD. Y'all are getting ripped off in North America.
Yeah when i was in italy for a gel builder fill I got them was €44,00
Yup …. Not that I go to nailtechs 😅😂 But miss busiswa persuaded me and bought my first press on nails and cannot wait to try them! A hundred nails for 10 euro and glu is 5 EUR and can try like 20 times and all.
I live in a rural state and I’ve never been charged more than $40 for an acrylic set, idk where these people are going
@decembervyne6541 it's in the cities and yeah I believe you cause I've gone upstate with my friend and they're way less there
In my country its like $20 bucks or less. In USA nails are freaking expencive 😢
Being called an auntie is a really amazing compliment, you are adorable, that's why ❤
She’s the cool auntie
That’s usually the case here .
The girl @40:10 OMG! That's so bad! Definitely needs a doc!
Oml these nail salons are getting out of control.. this is why I do my own nails!!
Same!!
Me too. I've been doing my nails at home for several years and will never get my nails done at a shop.

Tipping is not obligatory. Tipping is for when you get exceptional service and you want to give something extra. Y'all got to stop tipping for services you aren't happy with.
I HAD to subscribe!! I've never seen any of your videos, but this popped up and I was like I LOVE this!! I also hate the salons where you look online, find a price, go to said salon and then ask for the price and they say more... I print out what's on the site. I've been to salons where I just want an elegant square pink and white acrylic (meaning 2 separate powders) and then they want to charge more for pink acrylic and white POLISH.
I am that non confrontational person, but after sitting for an hour and a half showing pictures, nobody wants to keep sitting there. Plus with all the powders and gel that keep getting cheaper and cheaper.....why are they getting more expensive when they know they can't do those designs. 🤣
New follower here. You make me laugh and who doesn’t need that! But you are also respectful of other people. Thank you.
9:43 Ngl I’m on her side cause it’s just acrylic laid on the natural nail with MINIMAL design. So yeah I think she made the right choice just going to another salon.
Acrylic is VERY expensive (the material itself) but for that length 90 bucks is insane. Her set should have been 60 at most.
Whoever said you give auntie vibes, take that as a compliment! We all wear what's comfy at home, no shame... and your wraps, etc are beautiful. I love watching your videos!
Who needs enemies when you have nail tech like these?
As someone who is very passionate about hair skin and nails I see your videos and many others I am inspired to change my career I've always wanted to be a business owner and I am wayyy too passionate to allow anyone to leave like that. I have fallen off with beauty after becoming a mama I am doing something I am passionate about now I always wanted to go to beauty school but always doubted my dreamed but this encourages me to be a business owner and a beauty nail slayer. I cannot stand seeing this. I haven't had my nails done in along time but I remember leaving the salon upset and seeing these videos makes me hotttt
YES!!! Queen. You are giving me the favorite Auntie 🤩
I had one bad nail experience where the tech where she cut me then when I keep telling her the chemical is burning and she kept going. I kept saying stop and had to go off on her. I was about to walk out and they switched her for someone who can do it. I continued and everything went okay. Stop doing the most while doing your job if you need to focus then do so. My finger was swollen and throbbing. No infection. I just never went back to them.

I'm from Russia... Here, not only will they not pay for such nails, the master will also pay the client
Russians don't play with their nails, that's for sure! Your nail techs do gorgeous work.
I love my Russian manicures! Literal perfection time after time!!
I’m a licensed nail technician and I only do natural nail care, no acrylics, no sculpted nails at all. I can’t deal with a nail service going wrong and having to remove hours of work because of picky clients. I can just remove polish if the client is unhappy. Happy healthy hands and feet only. Edit: Heck yeah I have pew pews! ‘Merica 🇺🇸 2A
saaaammmmeeeeeeee way too much stress, used to have me sweating lmao
They’re not being picky if the nail tech does the complete opposite of what they ask for.
If you can’t do it then don’t offer to do the design, but these people set them up like fools and make them look crazy.
I mean the lady did say “full set acrylics” and that usually means tips and acrylics not just acrylic overlay.
The prices in US are craaaaaazy!
I pay like ~30$ for full set with design and everything… In Russia btw
I have a pew pew named Lucille. She is pretty & pink! She goes everywhere I go!

Besides the shoddy work,I really don't understand American tipping especially for something like this. Do they not charge enough???? My nail lady literally refuses to take a tip, according to her she charges what her work is worth and is doing her job so why would I tip her- I live in Sweden
We Europeans have a different culture. Americans are a new nation. They will learn the hard way
Tipping is supposed to supplement the lack of a livable wage. Other places that lack tipping culture usually have higher wages.
@@Kelly-pp1et American here. We’re expected to make up the difference between a livable wage and the minimum wage which is $2.13 for wait staff. During Covid, it seems like everyone started asking for tips and those who were able to tip did. I felt like the right thing to do considering the circumstances. Today we are expected/shamed to tip. I’m over it. I always tip in full service restaurants and my hair stylist b/c she provides excellent service. Other places, I usually do not unless the service is top notch.
@@VexedGenX I know. I live in the USA. Imagine my loathing every time when tipping time comes. I don’t understand why customers should pay for people’s wages
No, in many places where tips are a thing, people DON'T make enough without it.
For example, waitresses tend to make a little more than $2 an hour on average!
Without tips, people cannot survive on those wages.

I'm shocked how much I needed to hear other people vent bc I was one that kept my mouth shut and my shit was soooo bad and completely opposite of what I would ask for. It was embarrassing for myself looking back that I never spoke up.
I live in a state that allows them and yes, I have 4 pew-pews. My husband has 4 and is looking to get more too. I actually keep my pew-pew on my person walking around inside my home, when I take out the trash, when I go shopping, etc. We are members at our local range and I can confidently say I feel safe at all times. Now, I don't go to nail salons anymore. I prefer to do them myself. I'm probably never going to have all the cute charms and designs that many ladies get done nowadays, but at least I'm happy with how my nails come out and I can't blame anyone else if I do a crappy job lol

I have a pew pew. When I lived in Japan, I had a nail tech that worked from home…she was amazing!!! My new nail tech blows my mind and always exceeds my expectations. I paid 140 for my nails and feet… very reasonable since I opted for nail designs and embellishments.
I have 2 pews and love them. I always carry.

This is why I started doing my own nails at home about 10 years ago. The prices were just starting to spike in the nail shops and the quality wasn't there either.
