Here in Canada if you go camping anywhere wild the LAST thing you do is cook in your tent or keep food in it - unless you want a close, personal encounter with a bear! And gas cookers with a big pot of water on top is trouble about to happen. Years ago I made a wooden base with holes for dowels that grip the gas canister tight. And I attached grommets to the base so I can spike it into the ground. Extra weight to carry, but worth it.

Same- I'm in Montana and the whole cooking scene had me cringing... all of his gear is now a smellable 😂. They also now make snap-on feet for the fuel canisters, so I'd highly recommend getting some. They're plastic and weigh barely an ounce or two.

@@borutpeckaj2626 In North America we have black bears, brown bears and, of course, grizzly bears (out West and up north). And in the Arctic there are polar bears, which are very dangerous animals. Where I live on the East coast there seem to be bears everywhere you go. I've seen them a lot of times when I used to hike and camp in the Adirondack mountains in New York State and when canoeing and camping in the La Vérendrye provincial park. Brown bears do tend to avoid humans but the black bears are more fearless, and more likely to prowl around where you are camping for the night. And grizzly bears attack and kill humans every year. So, you don't keep food in your tent. Ever.

In the morning, when you have to pack back everything.. that is the moment i hate most 😂. Especially when outside are -15°C and windy.
By the way, i know you said that osn't a peak tent, BUT in that kind of tent, on the windy and snow times you should never let for the night your only pair of boots outside of the inner tent, because sometimes you'll find in the morning full of snow. In the BEST scenario. In the worst, they will wait 2-300m downhill or if a bear will visit (as your food was inside your tent!) and you will manage to escape cutting opposite side of the tent, few hours in snow without boots will be no plasure.. i think 😂
In my country i cannot afford luxury to let the food inside. Even so, sometimes bears came to check area around tent.. it's their habitat.

I am happy to take your advice on everything except for your tent skills - or lack thereof. Next time huh?

There’s an even worse thing that can happen to a camper. My friend was camping overnight near a lake, in a forest, in a tent very similar to this guy’s. While he was sleeping, some bigfoots pulled all the spikes out of the ground. Then one of the bigfoots grabbed the tent by the bottom corner and started whirling the tent around and around and around, with my friend still in it.
Then when he was done, another bigfoot did the same thing. Started whirling his tent, with him still inside around and around and around.
And then another one did the same, until one of them whirled him around and tossed his tent, with him inside of it, into the lake.
It didn’t end there. The bigfoots stood at the edge of the water on the beach, and they were laughing at my friend, pointing at him and jeering at him.
My friend was lucky. He was camping on level ground near a lake. Much unlike this guy, who is camping on the top of a mountain near a cliff.
So yeah, there are worse things that could’ve happened to this guy than an edgy windstorm.

Please don’t use a stove inside a tent. And particularly in a closed tent! The dangers include that it’ll tip, which happened, and carbon monoxide poisoning. Some tent fabrics will just ignite if a flame gets close, never mind touches them.
Heck, in the early 1980’s, when I started camping, even smoking in a tent was forbidden! (And my tent was a heavy canvas, not one of these modern lightweight fabrics.) Even in bear country lighting any sort of flame *must* be done outside the tent.
Oh, and when walking… drink your water! It’s your body telling you something. Don’t be all macho or stubborn and insist your body is wrong.

Don’t cook in your tent unnecessarily. Net result would have been less stressful

Was this a "What not to do when you go camping in the snow" video? Not securing your tent before putting it up and nearly having it blow away, using an inadequate tent, using a summer sleeping bag, cooking inside your tent, spilling water all over the place, and setting fire to your tent. You were lucky to survive.

@l.7742 Why do you feel the need to be offended on behalf of someone else? My comment was an observation. I was seriously shocked at the potentially very dangerous mistakes that were made. I suspect that they were done deliberately in order to make an exciting video, to be honest.
