I think will be a good idea to add some silicone, to create a gasket, so at that way you can make a little bit water proof.
Thanks for the video. I have found that these bearings you speak of can be bought online for way less, as long as you know the dimensions, you can find the bearing call number. I have upgraded many "sleeved" reels by replacing the sleeves with bearings (usually under $1 each incl shipping), and thereby extending the life and action of the reels, as you show here. Carbon washers are a dyi item ,cutting them from sheets of CF stock, again saving cost. I realize you know all this, I am stating it for the others viewing this video.
The ears on the ht100's make both sides of the washers work simultaneously
this is an awesome video thank you
Thanks for swinging by
Awesome sharing 💖 well explain 👌
Very informative video 👌 bg lk friend 😊
Thanks, this is a great video. I am going to do this for my 2500.
Great video, I did these upgrades to my reel, and it feels great. I realized that this bail turns the opposite direction of my Mitchell 300's I have been using for the last 40 years. With the Mitchell's, the bail turns into my right hand finger, with the Wrath the bail is turning away from my finger, and when I do catch it, the bail must be opened away or towards my right. Very unnatural for me. If I was reeling with my right hand it would be great. Never even realized that they might turn different directions. They should almost make 2 versions. I hope that makes sense. Maybe this will help someone looking at these reels.
Two versions would be nice!
I caught 5ft black tip with Penn wrath 8000 using 70 pound braided line on 13ft berry pro surf rod it took this shark to school and shark failed
I have caught 6 different species of shark with this reel biggest was 5 1/2 foot and smallest 4 foot
Penn wrath 8000 is a shark destroyer
I met a man who tried it on sailfish and won
This reel compared to other high quality Penn spinner reels is difference is more expensive have rubber gaskets and made of metal more so wrath just rinse it off more often with fresh water
You could actually replace the main gear with the battle cnc gear the gear ratios just have to match I put the battle HS in my 8000 fierce 5.3:1
Nice, I have an 8000 model
I measured the bushings in the Wrath 5000 and they're both the same. 9x17x5mm. Part# 1204012 for the bearings and 1211630 for the carbon washers.
This is impressive video .
Cool !
nice work dude...
Nice. I just bought the Wrath 5000 because it was $50 (Christmas gift limit from a friend) with the hopes I could upgrade the reel. I had been on a fishing trip where my freshwater reels were too light and my dedicated saltwater gear was too heavy for the fishing we were doing. I'm hoping the Wrath 5000 will be in the goldilocks zone.
my penn wrath scanned for 5 bucks canadian when it was supposed to be 110
Where are the other ball bearings in this reel
Pinion pack and housing
Why Does this guy remind me of the guy from the UA-cam channel Garand Thumb
What reel type did you put in for your sealed bearings? I do not see a wrath reel listed (wrth3000)
I'm having trouble with this reel. The line lays unevenly, bunching up at the top. But when I add a shim, the drag doesn't work. Any ideas?
Great video man. If I were to upgrade my Wrath 5000, I'd need 2 of those 20-CFT5000 bearing right?
I have a 5000 penn wrath the bearings for the 4000 don’t fit. Can you help me find the right size for the 5000
What reel size reel is that? I have the 6000. I found on mine The Fierce 3 carbon drag washers fit and the bearing’s also fit. You can just buy the parts instead of buying another reel
4000, yeah there's a lot of parts commonality. Definitely good to buy replacement/upgrade parts if you've already had the reel a while. Thanks for stopping by!
For the 6000 do I just purchase the 20-CFT5000 to replace both bearings?
Any idea why when I swapped the handle to the right side and put the lock nut on the left side that just by reeling in the lock nut becomes so tight that I can't even reel in without breaking the locking nit cap off I figured there would be a bushing somewhere inside which would keep it from doing that like other reels or maybe mine was just missing it
Word of advice. Do not do this on your 2500 model. Bought all the correct parts but the bearings are very tight on the shaft. The bigger bearing of the 2 is doable but the smaller is so stuck I can’t get it off. Pretty much useless reel right now.
Sorry to hear you're having troubles!
@@CastFromTheHip took some time and effort but by taking all the guts out of the reel I was able to make it work. Problem was the smaller bearing was an extremely tight fit and would not slide on enough to clear for everything to work smoothly, mainly space for the second bearing to fit with the cover on. After taking everything out I was able to force it on enough but it’s probably never coming off haha. Then put every other gear and part back in and it works nicely now.
Does anybody know if you can swap out the drag knob assembly (spool cap) for an HT-100 drag knob? I caught one of these wrath 8000 combos surf fishing last weekend and got it cleaned up and working, but the knob doesn’t seem to work right.
Just tried it, the HT-100 works on the wrath and there’s the added bonus of having your drag system sealed on the wrath now.
Used this reel surf fishing. Didn’t last the whole summer :( it ended up in a trash can ... I didn’t lubricate it. It was full of sand. Lol
Haha yeah budget reels need at least a rinse and a WD-40 spray-down after any saltwater use.
It must be nice to be able to waste money like that.
How many fiber washers are in the Wrath 5000?
Nevermind. It's 5.
Can you do a review on the newest zebco 888?
Just ordered one!
@@CastFromTheHip you the man!
