  • Me with the great Melissa Hayden, who the NY TIMES critic, Clive Barnes, once called “America’s Prima Ballerina Assoluta,” in some silent excerpts of CORTEGE HONGROIS. A couple clips in the Pas are from that 1st Matinee when I barely had learned the choreography (I can tell because I’m wearing my corps costume from DIAMONDS before they made me my own costume), and some are from a later show. The music was added later so it doesn’t quite match, but gives one an idea. Loved dancing this so much…and putting on that old-world swagger.

I so enjoy all the clips you post. My mother was at SAB in 1943, then into Ballet Society/NYCB up until 1949 when she married my dad. I was raised by one of "you people" I know exactly how you tick, and I love it. My best friend Sean Lavery died 6 years ago this Sunday. Still miss him, still hurts. RIP Sean.
