@@brandonherb4353 I mean a ton of people started playing board games (again for the first time since childhood ) during COVID. I found this channel because I was looking for strats beating my friends like 2 years ago

The videogame and movie industries are also boosting Catan/boardgames because they decided to stop making anything good since ~2015. I used to be a hardcore gamer but since there's nothing to play I'm playing and watching Catan.
Every video is where the real climb begins lol
So satisfying to see that all the initial settlements are separated by an even number of roads😫
Stays that way the whole game too. So annoying how every game, half the tiles can only hold 2 settlements.

They said their thumbs were big, so I’m assuming they were playing on the mobile app and accidentally accepted the trade while trying to decline it, I’ve almost done the same thing before

I don’t love that Dylan liked the terrible excuse comment… it wasn’t fat finger, it was him giving game to Dylan, for whatever reason… he made 3 separate trades back to back… nobody clicks accept on accident 3 times in a row. Let’s be real. I was actually surprised this game was chosen, as soon as I saw it go down. Probably lucky the other 2 knew it was Dylan, or they may have thrown more of a fuss about it…

Love watching your vids on a random day and just get some good ol' catan wisdom, so keep them coming. But, although I understand that as long as it's within the rules it goes, the lying I find to be kinda meh.

so you have to be in a spot where you are the target anyway.
I haven't finished, but if it were me i would've taken 5,6,9 ans pointed left. High likelihood I can get onto the 5,10 or 9,10. Now I have a monster setup with either 3,4,8 even if I don't get onto a port.

Do you now whether a catan solver exists where you can put in all the info and get answers what the max ev move is?
A pure solver probably does not exist but it would be pretty trivial to make a catan assistant able to track cards almost perfectly.
i dont think itd be possible given the political aspects of the game
@@electra_ It could probably be done by giving you decision trees where it tells you to make a trade and gives you another play for if the trade isnt made.
It doesn't, but you could probably use reinforcement learning to make a really strong Catan AI. Especially for 1v1s where there is no table talk or trades, just pure decision making. I'm studying machine learning atm and have had that as a potential project idea in the back of my head for a couple months now. But sadly I don't have the time or skills to do that currently.
If someone who has the time and is good at RL wants to do that though it would be pretty cool.
Man I love your vids but this is the second time you've accepted trades that hand you the win... Black has no reason to make three trades in a row to give you the city... It's basically cheating. The guy probably knows you're a big streamer and wants to get a shout out or something.
