Adam is a true gentleman. As an infrequent member of the RPF, I have seen SO many people cry foul over the years when someone copied their work. It's the height of gatekeeping, especially when most of the time, their work is a copy of someone ELSE's work. Adam made a thing from scratch, and when someone liked it enough to make copies of it .... for profit .... I might add, did he cry foul? No, he celebrated it. That's what fandom should be about.
I am Shapeforge props and I completely agree. I was very worried about copying Adams work. I didn't know the best way to try and contact him so I took a risk.
It's so great to see him happy about this replication of something he created from scratch. He finds it flattering that someone was inspired by his work.
@@ArcticFox63 For 287,24$ and the lack of good detail it's way overpriced. It's basically a completely different product and not worthy to be called a replica.
one of the best things about this channel is when Adam goes gaga over another maker's work. That is true respect for the creativity and workmenship of others.
After watching your original video on adding the Attenuator to your Proton Pack, I knew that I wanted one on my scratch-built pack (made from Foamcore, Worbla and 3D printed parts). Scavenging parts from an old model train controller (got it for the control knob to go onto the pack), and old portable radio and a few other bits, I bent a frame from alluminum to house all the electronics. I also re-routed the main Power and Volume controls onto the device, so that I am able to switch the power on and adjust the volume from it (plus added some EL Wire to the pack, so there was a switch for that too). Even added a Voltage gauge to keep an eye on my battery life! I love how the Ghostbusters community is so open and will grab and run with any cool ideas that other fans think of!
Ok, now I need to redo the lighting on that I am totally digging the bar graph Shapeforge Props made here. The fandom, inspired fandom is about to make fan-fan-fandom props. Once I have something sussed out Ill send a new lighting kit to you Adam.
Mega mega props and respect to the person who made that because those little things like the battery door that holds the battery, the magnetic wire, and just the overall ease of the directions and use deserves a Standing Ovation 👏 👏 WELL DONE
I know that lovely feeling you're talking about, over the past couple of years I've created & given away a pile of 3D print designs to hold radio receivers & antenna on drones in secure ways nobody has thought about before, but now thousands use. Seeing photos of prints of my designs on people's drones and the few times my designs have been remixed is such a joy.
Adam Savage is great! Like other commenters I appreciate how AS responds not angry about being copied, but celebrating it. If anyone else makes an actuator, (not a builder myself - so I'm just giving notes) I think this should make noise, a button that has a soft siren and alarm. I think it would be a fun add on. Also, this needs an instruction sheet which shows how the attenuator works in process of catching ghosts. Keep up the great videos AS!
Wow, This is by far one of my favorite videos from your channel, and it's because of your reaction to the replica, you were truly honored by it,that alone makes the video even more worthy, really appreciate how humble and kind you are,I'll be waiting for that proton pack build for this paricular atenuator,Greetings from Mexico, P.S. @@tested - I notice you don't mention the SIZE, though. I "only" have 3 sheds in my backyard. Of course, one is over 3 times the size of the other two ;-)
It was a bit weak on plot. Not everyone enjoys a movie where the main characters are children. It did manage to deliver on a few emotional moments in the film and paid due respect to the source material, but as a film on its own, it was a bit lacking. It should be a very easy film to make but no director wants to "repeat" something already done. Even their own work. So, they try to make it "different" "new" "fresh" etc., otherwise they're just copying. A difficult balance to achieve. Make something that is as popular and successful as something that came before without copying what came before.

Both versions are pretty cool, but I honestly like Adam's bar graph display better as it harkens to the original "tech" of the franchise. I also like his "radio-active symbol" light cover a little better, as it has that lettering detail missing from the replica. All in all, a clever replica, and impressive how close to the original they got it.
The one thing that stands out to me is the colour-change function of the graph-light on Adam's. But I like the "dial-a-mode" function on Shapeforge's. Someone needs to do a hybrid of the two and it would be perfection.... .....and I still wouldn't be able to afford one. hehehe But I do think this would look pretty cool on the dash of my car.
