This is great. I have known Idea Planet for over 11 years. They. Are. Awesome. I love going to their office and seeing all of the kick ass stuff that they have made over the years.
Oh my god I'm so in love! Minus the horrible landing gear in the back (resulted in the switch to Bezo's Amazon), this thing is a beaut! Didn't even know these existed :)
Mine's on it's way, have a nice space set out along side my Beratnas Gas coloured Roci surrounded by; a Morrigan class, a Truman Class, a Scirocco class, a Donnager Class and my soon to be complete Protogen Amun Ra Class models.
I’m sure they’ll get another Kickstarter campaign going. But it will be a case of do you want the landing legs? Because we’ll need them to fully close up to the hull. It’s a minor “kibble “ but the model is as close to perfection
Man, why did I only find out about this one today! Would've gone for it day one if I'd known about it at the time. Looking at getting the upcoming Hero Collector / Eaglemoss 'XL' one, but this one looks much nicer (and bigger)
Awesome model. The only thing I'm not too fond of is the landing gear. Here's Idea Planet's original render: i.imgur.com/d6YZzNV.png . I don't understand why they changed the design. On the actual model you can't retract the landing gear like that. I also would have loved to be able to detach the landing gear. In the beginning they said that the model would be very customizable.
If you've got time and some crafting skill you could build you're own out of paper and card. www.papermodelers.com/forum/alternate-dimensions/40215-rocinante-released.html
Hero collector announced that they are going to produce licensed Expanse models. Include Roci, Donnager class battleship, and Amen-Ra class stealth cruiser
@@aidenchen1275 A bit late, I’ve already built the Truman class, Scirocco Class, Morrigan Class, Donnager Class and I am currently in the middle of building the Amun-Ra class and have just finished building the export model for that I'll use to build The Pella.
my only complaint is that it looks a little bit too much like it's made of literal bricks. I know that's the actual texture of the hull, but it could have benefitted from a half millimeter less definition.
Hmm... I am kind of torn on it. On one hand, it is a really cool model of a really cool ship, and it has a lot of detail. At first glance it is a beautiful model. As I looked closer, however, certain parts look like plastic. I mean, I know it is plastic (or resin) but there are models out there that are made of resin and don't look like resin. Some of the parts just looked cheap or thin, flimsy, and poorly done? Some parts also don't look very clean, like they look like they could have stood to be sanded and worked on a bit more. Just my opinion based on your shots, so maybe it looks better in person. But honestly, overall, I really like it a lot.
Hm, there seems to be some kind of general aversion against the build-like-an-office-building structure of expanse ships. I rather imagine expanse ships being build like rockets, not like air planes. In my mind, they are always oriented upwards, having their decks stretching horizontally. It usually gives me some kind of jolt seeing them oriented sideways like here, then having their decks stretching vertically. But I seem the only one feeling that way, I'll get over it.
Not a very well designed ship, in fact. But you need a brain, some knowledge, some experience in space combat to know this. Still, when you are drowning in an ocean of shit, even a plain old sandwich is like the best mean you ever had.
Martians really know how to build ships.
Damned strait.
Agreed, I like the Martian ships much more...
Like Amos Burton, no joke.

For what it is. It's a gorgeous model regardless of the landing gear.. I love the look of it. It's done and its gorgeous. Cant wait to have mine.
I'm glad stuff like this exists, and I'm glad it doesn't have to clutter my house.
Beautiful How love the Roci what an Awesome Gorgeous Spaceship Ever...
I am so bummed I could not afford to back this kickstarter when they ran it.
It was so short I didn't even know it happened! These things on Ebay go up to $1,000 USD.
The makers need to re run this campaign. It was not well marketed and I never got a change to order.
Same here didnt know there is a campaign . I need this
I agree, I would have definitely bought one!
Yep.
For real, I had no idea. I'd definitely purchace right now. Especially with the show ending next week, it's the perfect time!

So far this is the best unboxing of IP's Roci

Super awesome!!!
What the, did you just get this now? Wasnt this more than a year ago that it was in the works
Do I eat for two months or buy this?
Uh I want one! I can just imagine how much it will cost though ☹️
Hehe, did no one proofread the styrofoam shell before printing? "Rocinate"
You had one job
Yep, I noticed that too.
I really want one!! who to contact for such a beauty? are you shipping to germany? what will this work of art cost?
is this available on the market ??
I need one!
is there an option to have no landing gear?
The battle ship cut in half?
How can I purchase one please I'll pay the money
Damn 9/10 !
Cheers!
Phenomenal detail. Where would I order one?
um... why was I not notified? Can I still get this?
Ou peut-on commander ce magnifique Rocinante ?
Wow! Even with all my 3D printers I’m not sure I could make it that nice.
Do they list the scale?
Came for the Falcon. Stayed for the Rocci.
Noticed your power outlet. Aussie, or Kiwi?
Aussie mate.
This video makes me want to get a scalpel for opening boxes.
Is it just me or do the colors seem really off?
Are these for sale?
Only through the kickstarter campaign. You will need to contact Ideal Planet to see if there are any spares, as some people cancelled their order.
God damnit, I wasn't aware that this was going on! Will we be able to buy it after the kickstarter or we're shit out of luck?
Not sure, some people cancelled theirs so contact Ideal Planet to see if there are any to purchase. Not sure how it works through kickstarter though.

IKR? First I thought from the thumbnail it's gonna be a LEGO kit... Which would not be a bad idea either...

Dear god just take my goddam money !!!!
Get American Ben on this campaign ...

In the novels, Rocinante is a ship capable of landing on its belly, not vertically. Landing gear is wrong.
Which is weird because why would they design landing gear to land the ship on its belly when the decks are oriented vertically?
@@mikehateberg9533 Read the novels, its on the eigth book. The decks are oriented vertically indeed, but Rocinante was designed to land horizontally.
I think in the novels the belly landing is first referenced on Ganymede but this model is clearly based on the show where the Roci lands vertically.
@@DeeBrown63 Indeed.
nice ship
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY 💰💰💰
looks like the box contains a typo lol... Rocinate
Still, the ship looks more then awesome.
Fuck the roci, gimme the behemoth xD
Not happy with the landing gear not folding against the hull! I’m gonna break it n glue in place or just cut the hole rig off n make good!

Heya Alex, I'd like to email you directly if that's okay, do you happen to have an email address I could write to?
The Expanse ships look like they were inspired by Homeworld the computer game from 1999.
Which were inspired by the work of Chris Foss.
Too bad their citadel attempt collapsed...
I have mine duking it out with a 3d printed Pella
My heart is filled with so much hate rn. 😒
