Don't look like it need much of a lift. I hope they call up the place who sent Chad his drive shaft before the Towtruck games. They look like they build heavy duty drive shaft. Robbie and Hillbilly had them on the Limo and Bronstar also.
M715 would be a great foundation to start with. Strong frame and huge fenderwells for big tires. Keep the existing bed, bob the rear some and throw in a boom unit kind of like Rory did. But it all comes down to who's paying the bills and who's driving .
I've always liked the look of those older Jeep pickups. I think it would be a great thing for your channel. I hope that is what you choose. I especially enjoy build series with unusual vehicles.
Now that you gave it national exposure, you'd better get your Lil' Lady that truck Sir! Your community is behind you for the build and support. I look forward to the project and to see who comes out of the woodwork to help and support. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
In my world of motorcycles we have this saying, 'Much LLH&R. For all you and your family and friends do, Much Love, Loyalty, Honor and Respect. Thank You
As cool as that m715 is it would sure be a lot of work. I'd be worried about beefing it up because of things like the single sheer rear leaf spring mount. Throwing the body on a late model frame would put you miles ahead. Either way looking forward to the build
That looks like place a guy could get in trouble buying toys haha. I like the other square body wrecker but you already have a wrecker. Might be nice to diversify your setup and build a truck more intended for pulling and winch type recoveries. That old white jeep would be awesome for that. Interested to see what you choose for a drive train. Maybe copy the wrecker so parts interchange? That little jeep would sure scoot with a hot little small block chevy under the hood! If you do a build series I'll be here for every episode! Looking forward to it whichever rig you choose. Take care guys.
I think the M715 would take way more work to get it going , where with the square body Chevy you already have a lot of parts and as you pointed out the controls are the same as yours so working it would be just memory on where what switches are located . It also seemed like it was more whole even tho it would still take a bit of work to get it into a working status but much less than the M715 . I think you should go with the square body Chevy .
Well... This is going to be an interesting build and a LOT of work. I would have chosen the other square body wrecker. Good luck on whatever you decide on building!!
Personally, I think you guys made a great choice! The content you can provide will be invaluable. Whether it takes a year, more or less, is of no significance. It will be great to watch you guys build it into another great wrecker. Good luck, and I'll be watching.
I loved your wife''s comment. We have friends that built wreckers. I say that is great advice. Ask them their pros and cons and see what they say. It will give you ideas on what you may or may not want to do. Build it for your needs.
Nice video of the family out driving around and doing some antiquing. It certainly was an interesting stroll around Sid's yard, so many cool old trucks that in the right hands could roll again. I am looking forward to the Jeep build. Good luck.
That M715 would be a cool truck, but a ton of work. As I kid, I had a Tonka truck like that. The square body looks ready to go. It might be worth picking up as a "hot spare".
If that 715 has its tornado 6 than you put a chevy V8 right to that 4speed and the devorce transfore case I have had afew the driveline are good you have to make your own rims and their drum brakes but can be converted to discs.
Exciting, guys! I would have said that it should be that nice squarebody you will be bringing home. Didn't look like that much work. BUT when you've talking about a build series I am all in for the special military/Jeep-truck!
That Jeep would make for a very cool wrecker. I was going to ask if it was going to be Mara's, but it seems like she's already decided that it will be - lol. Maybe Bleepin-Jeep has some trick to find out more information on it.
Probably should have looked around a little bit when you were down South in the rust free area. But I agree with most of people here. If you can swing it I'd buy the square body and the Jeep provided. The square body is in good shape with a little further review.
WOOT a new build is going to be great! I like the Jeep idea, it looks like a beast! I vote for putting a real wrecker bed on it similar to yours. I just like when they have real tow truck parts and I think I’d want a boom with powered extension if it were mine. I think if it’s going to be Seatcover’s it gonna need a complete exocage for when she gets rowdy. 🤪 Looking forward to it!
Friend had a m 715 30 yrs ago set up as a wrecker had a holmes boom double spool winch and 150 ft cable each drum ford 460 with clarke 5 speed lockers wheeled prety good but leaf springs where to stiff but it was a good strong truck pulled out many bigger trucks
Wow Eric, that old jeep will definitely be unique and turn heads! You don't see those every day. Maybe pick up the square body too for the wrecker set up .that would be a great combination. What ever you do it will be a fun project. Take care.
I love full size jeeps that 715 is awesome. I would definitely build the jeep truck. I was also thinking the square body would be easy to run spare parts wise and switching things between trucks. You would still be able to build it differently to be better at certain things than your current wrecker or however you wanted to do it. It really is nice having multiple of the same vehicles. But the jeep truck is very cool those things are really fun and I love the grill on those.
I like the idea of the 715. But let Mara choose the driveline to suit her driving style. I do recommend installing a transfer case doubler even if it's only used once in a blue moon. The good thing about the 7 series truck's was being able to fit a 38" tire without having to modify the fenders.
This is exciting! You might get them both because that old thin tube D60 in the Jeep has a lot of differences like closed knuckles and such. The square body would be a great parts truck for the old five quarters. Boyce equipment probably has a real five quarters cab. I know they still had Arctic cab kits a few years ago.
Can’t believe you walked by the old Studebaker towards the beginning of the video without taking a second look. Those are so smooth looking bodies. Definitely different from their competitors at the time. It would be awesome to bring that one back from its slumber and put back on the road again
I am looking forward to this build! It should also grow your channel, it makes the wife unit happy, plus you get to keep it and use it afterwards so I'd call it a win-win-win situation. Those trucks are finally getting the attention that they deserve.
I swear, This wrecker yard gets all the outcasts from other wrecker yards in the state!! because of the conditions of it look just that bad!! I know record yards that keep the walkways graveled, and smooth. And the roads you can drive in on and drive around are very good. This place is one big mud hole. You’re much too good of a mechanic, Eric and a darn good man, for you to wanna pick something from this wrecker yard. It would cost a small fortune to get something half-way wake up and running!!
It's good to have a backup and options. Matt's Offroad created the MORRvair to act as a backup for the Banana and then expanded with the wrecker. Casey LaDelle has multiple vehicles for the different needs in his area. Rory built Old Blue to act as a backup for Trail Mater. I think this might be the best option for BSF since he knows what he needs and how to get it out of a stock truck.
I would find a salvage suburban with a good 8.3 and transplant as much as you can into and under the M715. Make it mean, reliable and maybe a little cushy for Seatcover. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
You would need to swap out the front axle those 60s on that jeep have the odd ball shafts I believe .better off with a gm 60 easier to find parts for .
Awesome video , brilliant idea and great choice of a truck, in their own way they were pretty stout, and yo'll do whatever is needed to build reliability and some longevity into it, you and Mara will have a ton of fun working on it, its only going to get better and more interesting each and every episode and make the rest of your UA-cam friends jealous with your unique vehicle choice, BSF future build's so bright, we gotta wear shades, only good times ahead 👍😎
This weather crazy in our area. I live in Minnesota. Hey I think the wife is right on that build. But I think a rollback would be great to have too. Since most vehicle are always in 4x4. I had an 86 Ford with aluminum bed that made it lighter. Made a killing at the Minneapolis and St. Paul impound lots auctions. I got tired of how that old truck look and went to change the cab only to forget that my truck was a diesel. And the cab I got was gas. I ran out of money before I can fix it. Those bills at home never stop coming in when you trying to do better. So I sold the truck to a farmer. And all 17 cars and moving truck. Good luck on the build. It should be fun.
I think I would get the other wrecker as well and at least you could have a spare parts if you dont rebuild it as a spare to your own wrecker and do what Mara wants to the other. To add to this post I have a feeling that Mara is think of some Matt's or Paul's wrecker
Those old school Roll Bars are epic! I found one for my square from an old timer. Lucky to have it! They're hard to find up here in Maine! Some wicked cool rigs out there! Thanks for sharing! 😎
I recon Mara has a good eye, put some larger wheels, 😊 certainly looks cool, nice mob of rigs, hope he finds some more people to give homes to the rest, thanks for taking us along, second hand stors we good, all the best to yous and your loved ones
As much as I would love to restore or even just get all of those beautiful works of Art Rolling, I'd kill for those FSJs and pretty much everything back there! So much treasure! And that white Kaiser would be awesome! That would be one hell of a offroad recovery vehicle!
Nice. I love trips to the " Junkyards". I could spend days and days doing that. Thanks. some great pieces there. Are You going to build a side shop to construct it in? Gonna take up a lot of real estate inside.
The M715 gets my vote for your 2nd recovery truck. Nothing matches a 715 for the coolness factor. I look forward to seeing the build in your future videos. Best of luck in this new endeavor.
From what seat cover is asking sounds more like a magic carpet than a wrecker. But if it is possible for you why not get both? The square body and the m715. The Chevy is already equipped just go through it and fix any problems. That way you'll have a backup to your wrecker or if you need a secondary truck it's good to go. Plus that will give you the time to actually build the m715 into the wrecker you want.
M715!! I had a '67 civilian 3/4 ton with a 512 inch buick (455 bored .40) and 11.5 inch 14 bolt running propane only. It was a monster of a truck. I never broke the 14 bolt!! I currently own a '63 sitting on a Suburban chassis with a 500 inch Cadillac. Oh, did I suggest the M715?? I suggest the M715. I would install the dual wheel 14 bolt and Dana 60 or 80 front with 4:56 gears, M420 trans (7.05:1 first, it'll kick Rory's ass), or a Muncie SM 465 (6.55:1 first). The double 205 is good, but why not find an aftermarket transfer that can give you more gear reduction than two 205s mated together. It will be less weight and a lighter package. For simplicity, I recommend leaf springs with Orbit Eyes. Then backup the rear springs with air bags, and traction/ladder bars in the rear to prevent the u-joint, leaf spring, lift block tearing axle wrap you have experienced on at least two occassions. For a powerplant I recommend the Buick 455, Olds 455, or Cadillac 500, maybe the Pontiac 455. There is a machine shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico that specilizes in the Cadillac 500 and could furnish a HIGH torque engine that runs smooth and quiet, but has 18 wheeler pulling power. Oh, did I suggest the M715?? I suggest the M715 with an M420 trans (first choice [1947-1967]) or an SM465 (very strong tranny!! ['68 up]) uhmm, tranny as in transmission not tranny as in transvetite.
I like the M715. Too me it looks like a clone M715. The interior design is too new. I’ve seen an M715 with hard top and they still have the M715 look. The cab on that one looks like the Gladiator pickup cab. The frame in the back looks more like a pickup. If the price I’d right I’d still snag it. Maybe snag that other Wrecker you looked at too. I think Matt started something with his Wrecker games. Chad of Chad’s fab is building one.
I had a J20 Jeep pickup, with the earlier quadra-track. You could practically climb trees with it, if you could keep a transmission in it. That was it's weak link. If you tried to ramrod your way out of a tight spot, that 402 would burn out a transmission in short order.
i think you should get both build the jeep first then when its up and towing well then slowly fix up the other truck since its already ready to go really just fix it nice paint it up and have it as a spare for you both so you can take one down for repairs and always have 2 running trucks
ive got a cummins 4bt 1963 willys j200 set up 8 lug, ord doubler, and gear vendors overdrive gets 20mpg highway, m715's civilian relative, 1st year new body style, those were willys designed, during the kaiser takeover, ive got a lot of information and history of the early trucks if your looking for more.
The Jeep is different and cool, but I’d go with the Square body if it was me. You’d have more parts for it and it’d be waaaayyy less work for you since your time is already limited since you still gotta go to work every day. It’d also be a lot cheaper too I’m sure.
Honestly I think you should get both. Because the jeep will take along time. The GMC would be a good back up for big red while you go through hom.. my opinion. Thanks for all the videos
Consider letting this not be a wrecker but more like the morvair that compliments the wrecker for different types of recoveries. This jeep could do jerking type recoveries and be the second winch line for your wrecker for different angles. Also it can be the tool storage and welder and vice and all the extra stuff to do quick repairs out on the trail that again assists the wrecker.
Even though the M715 looks nice and looks like it's already a fairly offroad capable truck by the looks of it, you guys probably should consider that GMC. Yes it'll need to be lifted, but it comes with a towing platform and boom already on it. It just makes a lot of practical sense in that regard.
I have seen old Kaiser Gladiators like that before. It is from the 60's (or possibly '71). After AMC took over at Jeep, they changed the look of the front grille. They are pretty cool. That one looks like it has good bones, but it is gonna' need a lot of love. In the meantime, I hope that you add about three more winches under the body of your wrecker. Keep posting, we love your content.
The m715 is cool. I seen a couple 61-66 fords in there as well not sure if they were 4wd. 460 C6/205 Kp60 front 70 or 14 rear. Tough to beat that combination
Yup your at my old shop was a John Deere dlr once upon a time. I sold out back in '96.. Then SID got it and had a very nice place till it caught fire on evening when it was 30 below zero. Very sorry evening. Dewey Berglund
I would have went for the Studebaker, but I am always going outside the norm. That little red CJ out front look like mine and even had the half winter cab on it. According to my Standard Catalog of Jeeps from Patrick Foster, Kaiser produced M715 and 725 in South Bend and Toledo. They were sold to the military and government agencies. Very little is said. I have seen them in old Forest Service pictures, fire departments as well as at airports. Those facts are not well supplied in books. Especially for non military agencies. They also sold them without beds on the regular market. I could see them needing to fill an order, pulling a cab and chasis off the line and adding 715 features to it to fill an order for another government agency. Then again someone might have switched the cabs 30 years ago. It is certainly a plus. Hope you are on the rain side of this blizzard.
She has a good eye. Looks like the Jeep Five-Quarter Concept. Based on the 1968 Jeep M715 tactical vehicle, featured in car and driver APR 7, 2019 and Easter Jeep Safari.. Definitely one of the coolest looking Concept I have seen on youtube. 🤔
Excited to see seat cover getting her own truck that she will build on it herself.
This will be great build and it will less of a pain with the new lift for sure.
Don't look like it need much of a lift. I hope they call up the place who sent Chad his drive shaft before the Towtruck games. They look like they build heavy duty drive shaft. Robbie and Hillbilly had them on the Limo and Bronstar also.
@@mrfunnylookinhayes9088 those drive shafts are stout for sure ,the challenger lift is the one I was thinking of.
M715 would be a great foundation to start with. Strong frame and huge fenderwells for big tires. Keep the existing bed, bob the rear some and throw in a boom unit kind of like Rory did. But it all comes down to who's paying the bills and who's driving .
get it together, then add a boom later on as upgrade, as well as other things.
This is how to spend a Sunday afternoon, great video thumbs up, always enjoy the ride along
Glad you enjoyed it
I've always liked the look of those older Jeep pickups. I think it would be a great thing for your channel. I hope that is what you choose. I especially enjoy build series with unusual vehicles.
I grew up on square body Chevy trucks but the m715 is probably my all time favorite .
Look forward to seeing it being built .
Love your channel
Excited for the build!!! Glad Seatcover wants her own tow truck. Give someone the little girls can look up to
That's the plan!
Now that you gave it national exposure, you'd better get your Lil' Lady that truck Sir! Your community is behind you for the build and support.
I look forward to the project and to see who comes out of the woodwork to help and support.
You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
In my world of motorcycles we have this saying, 'Much LLH&R. For all you and your family and friends do, Much Love, Loyalty, Honor and Respect.
Thank You
pretty sure Sid wouldn't sell it to anyone other than Eric. friends first.
The old Kaiser M715 certainly looks interesting.
Though the GMC also makes a lot of sense too, since most of the hard work is already done.
i think he needs both and just have the gmc fixed up as a spare truck so they can always have 2 running trucks
As cool as that m715 is it would sure be a lot of work. I'd be worried about beefing it up because of things like the single sheer rear leaf spring mount. Throwing the body on a late model frame would put you miles ahead. Either way looking forward to the build

LOVE THAT THE YOUNG LADIES ARE GETTING INTO THIS!! YOUR WIFE AND DAUGHTER ARE AWESOME!! THIS WILL BE VERY FUN!!
Well... This is going to be an interesting build and a LOT of work. I would have chosen the other square body wrecker. Good luck on whatever you decide on building!!
Thanks 👍
I think the square body Chevy will be the best choice good luck your videos are awesome
Personally, I think you guys made a great choice! The content you can provide will be invaluable. Whether it takes a year, more or less, is of no significance. It will be great to watch you guys build it into another great wrecker. Good luck, and I'll be watching.

The one that looks like yours, you can get parts easier. The frame on the Jeep doesn't look very beefy. Just my 2 cents
That M715 would be a cool truck, but a ton of work. As I kid, I had a Tonka truck like that. The square body looks ready to go. It might be worth picking up as a "hot spare".
Yep I agree
I had a Tonka truck like that also if I remember it was white
@@jw2218 Mine was red. It was part of a set, but it was my favorite one.

I'm excited about the m715 yeah, but I would love to see two dually wreckers for Eric to run so when he's broke down he'll have a sister truck to run
Get 2. The white one & the one with the same controll panel.
Exciting, guys! I would have said that it should be that nice squarebody you will be bringing home. Didn't look like that much work. BUT when you've talking about a build series I am all in for the special military/Jeep-truck!
LS swapped gladiator WOULD BE SICK ASF!!! btw been watching yall for like 6 years and always love when the restore or rebuild work comes into play
Need more torque, Now a 454 might be the ticket.
That Jeep would make for a very cool wrecker. I was going to ask if it was going to be Mara's, but it seems like she's already decided that it will be - lol. Maybe Bleepin-Jeep has some trick to find out more information on it.

13:50 That’s a beauty Kaiser/AMC Jeep Truck. I remember Tonka used to make the toy trucks like that.
Get it.
Good stuff! Really enjoyed the walk through Sidco! Cool place. Look forward to the new build!

That is cool Eric and Mara and can't wait to see it and Eric I would get the gold square body to fix it up then you have to the same have a backup
I like the idea of the 715. But let Mara choose the driveline to suit her driving style. I do recommend installing a transfer case doubler even if it's only used once in a blue moon. The good thing about the 7 series truck's was being able to fit a 38" tire without having to modify the fenders.
I go with the black chevy tow truck
This is exciting! You might get them both because that old thin tube D60 in the Jeep has a lot of differences like closed knuckles and such. I want that square body Ford at about 4;12
It was good to see Matt rory and Paul and casey give it to you so much deserved respect you are the OG😅
You should get the tow truck the one with the black deck. Anything else needed to many parts.
Gladiator FTW....!!! Obviously 60 in front and 14-bolt in the rear, BBC, TH400, Atlas.
Can’t believe you walked by the old Studebaker towards the beginning of the video without taking a second look. Those are so smooth looking bodies. Definitely different from their competitors at the time. It would be awesome to bring that one back from its slumber and put back on the road again
I've got a 1967 M-715. Had it for over 30 yrs. Still has the canvas(replaced many times.) I put a 327 double hump in it. It's stout.
I am looking forward to this build! It should also grow your channel, it makes the wife unit happy, plus you get to keep it and use it afterwards so I'd call it a win-win-win situation. Those trucks are finally getting the attention that they deserve.

Buy the Chevrolet Square body that is already a tow truck. Match yours and get it going fast and buy the Jeep. Also, project Bad Ass Tow Truck 🚚
Nice. I love trips to the " Junkyards". I could spend days and days doing that. Thanks. some great pieces there.
Are You going to build a side shop to construct it in? Gonna take up a lot of real estate inside.
M715 truck with a 6.0 LS, 4 link suspension like Fabrats built. 44 inch tires
With the group of friends you have I'm certain you will get a whole lot of help building this rig

Looking forward to the new build. GOD Eric you really.....whew ...are taking on a big build.
So glad you guys are doing a build going be sweet
Right on Brother, a build project. I like the body... eye candy...It will be a blast watching your build... thanks for bringing us along
A 57 chevy wagon recovery vehicle would be unique and awesome!!💗💗
The Jeep is different and cool, but I’d go with the Square body if it was me. You’d have more parts for it and it’d be waaaayyy less work for you since your time is already limited since you still gotta go to work every day. It’d also be a lot cheaper too I’m sure.
Honestly I think you should get both. Because the jeep will take along time. The GMC would be a good back up for big red while you go through hom.. my opinion.
Thanks for all the videos
Yeah I think so too, didn't have already have to build a new truck one already because the frame was in such bad shape on the original one?
Our you can set the black gmc up for west coast crawling recovery lol
Eric the deuces are cool but you should look into a 5 ton military wrecker. They're so badass and you could take on some bigger recoveries!
Good choice on second recovery vehicle. Should be an awesome built. Can't wait till videos come out.
I'm thinking the 48 chevy that was out front
Those j 20s and that square body would make for a good wrecker and keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe
The m715 is cool. I seen a couple 61-66 fords in there as well not sure if they were 4wd. 460 C6/205 Kp60 front 70 or 14 rear. Tough to beat that combination
Having the lift is going to make building another tow truck a lot easier Mara sounds really excited about it
Yup your at my old shop was a John Deere dlr once upon a time. I sold out back in '96.. Then SID got it and had a very nice place till it caught fire on evening when it was 30 below zero. Very sorry evening. Dewey Berglund
I would bet that John Midwest Military has parts for that 715. We have gotten lots of M37 parts from him over the years.
Heck yeah an old school Jeep build would be awesome! Cheers from your southern wisconsin neighbor.
I think Another square body tow truck is way to go
The Studebakers were 14ga bodies. Don't need rock sliders! You notice no dings and barely a dent. Heavy tho.
Mara has good taste. That Kaiser would be a beast. It gets my vote 👍
I know someone who had one with a hardtop cab that was an old fish and game truck for a while. It was super rusty and never ran but still pretty cool.
If you decide to build the Jeep truck - and I hope you do - check out BJ’s off-road for parts. Saw you checking out the floor pans. BJ’s has them.
yaa that would be a great 2nd at the 11:00, diffnelty needs to be pulled out an saved
Get the square body, and the m715 truck, or the Study. ust the frame from the chevy and use one of the other cabs.
I think the chevy would be cheaper to rebuild and easy to find parts. but the M715 would be cool if money is no problem, parts might be a issue.
