  • Mulled wine recipe - warm spiced wine that is usually serve in Christmas and holiday season, bit not only. This drink is perfect for cozy winder evenings. Mulled wine is popular all around the world during the holidays, in Germany it’s called Glühwein, in Spain it’s called warm sangria. No matter where you are from and how to you call it, just make this drink and enjoy life.

    Ingredients:
    1 bottle Dry red wine
    1 orange, sliced
    1-2 Cinnamon sticks
    2 Star anise
    1 teaspoon Cardamom
    1-2 tablespoons Honey/maple syrup/sugar (optional)
    1/4 cup (60ml) Brandy/rum (optional)
    Directions:
    1. In a medium saucepan combine red wine, sliced oranges, cinnamon stick, star anise, whole cloves, sweetener and brandy.
    2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer (Avoid boiling, otherwise the alcohol will evaporate). Reduce to low heat and cook for 10-15 minutes.
    3. Pour into glasses and serve hot or warm.
    Notes:
    • To make the drink stronger or lighter you can add more or less alcohol (brandy/rum/whisky).
    • To add more flavor you can add chopped apple, fresh or frozen cranberries, blueberries or any fruit that you like.

    In your video u put cloves but it looks more like cardamom

      Yes, it's a mistake. You need one teaspoon of cardamom.

    0:01 VINO CALIENTE
    Ingredientes y direcciones:
    0:20 En una cacerola mediana combine 1 botella de vino tinto seco,

    • Para agregar más sabor puede agregar manzana picada, arándanos rojos frescos o congelados, arándanos o cualquier fruta que le guste.

    In Spain we simply call it "vino caliente" (warm wine) o "vino especiado" (spiced wine) and I only get to taste it during medieval fairs.

    Does boiling the wine and brandy cook off the alcohol or can the drink still get you tipsy?

      dont boil just barely simmer and better to cover with a lid in case some does evaporate it will hit the lid ,condense and fall back into the wine!!

    May I know what is dry wine ? I only know merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon

      When reading a tech sheet:
      Below 1% sweetness, wines are considered dry.
      Above 3% sweetness, wines taste “off-dry,” or semi-sweet.
      Wines above 5% sweetness are noticeably sweet!
      Dessert wines start at around 7-9% sweetness.
      By the way, 1% sweetness is equal to 10 g/L residual sugar (RS).
