Hi guys - sangria is one of my favorite cocktails, and there's so many variations you can make. Are you team red wine or white wine? Check out the full blog post for a few ideas! Enjoy the long weekend (in the US) and stay safe. :) xo - Lisa
here, im the lover of red wine 🙌
team red 🍷
Team red but I’ve tried your white sangria and loved it! It was certainly a hit at a family dinner. Will be giving this recipe a go as well.
If you loved the white sangria, you'll sure love this one then 😊
Red wine. Will try this. Which is recipe for white one?
I'm from Spain, and i love your channel! I tell you how my family made it.
We don't use brandy or other licor. Only fresh fruit : usually, 2 oranges, 2 peaches , (made it really delicious, 1lemon... red wine(2 lit.) , and soda, or lemon soda.(1 lit.), 2 spoons of brown sugar or other sweetener and 1 spoon cinnamon powder, it make it so tasty. The ice we put directly in the jar where you made the mixture.
greetings!
Thanks for following along to my channel all the way from Spain 😊And thanks so much for sharing how your family makes this recipe. I love the addition of cinnamon in this - definitely something I will need to try next time!
@@Downshiftology Thanks for answer me. I hope enjoy it =)
Efectivamente.
My wife and I just returned from Portugal and they also added mint leaves. Thanks for the recipe!
I love making a alcohol free sangria, just substituting the wine with some grape and cranberry juice. People are usually a bit skeptical about this version but so far have always ended up loving it! ☺️
Using cranberry juice is the perfect substitution, and so refreshing!
I hate alcohol. In fact I'm allergic to it so your non alcoholic sangria sounds great.
well, it's not sangria then - you've made a juice cocktail
I like smoking weed without the thc too
Thanks for the share, I don’t drink and was just thinking how to substitute the wine❤
Hi! I've read several comments made by Spanish people, I'm Spanish too, and for us adding peaches is a definitely MUST. It is a much more sweat fruit, and will reduce the need of adding any other additional type of sweater to those that do not wish to put sugar in it. And we definitely use a cheaper wine :) It has also become quite popular to do it with Cava (Spanish Champagne) instead of red wine.
PS - I love your recipes. My favorite is the Falafel.
Thanks for sharing! There's definitely many ways to make a sangria, especially in different regions so It's nice hearing how everyone else makes it and the different delicious variations!
Just made this! Put the glasses in the freezer, letting the sangria rest over night, can’t wait to enjoy with brunch tomorrow! Snuck in a little sip and it was so yummy!
So glad you enjoyed this recipe 😊
As a Spanish I can say OLE to this. It looks delicious. Usually we put sugar and not maple syrup... a cheaper wine... and a bit less of fruit!
Yes! You can definitely use different ingredients for this recipe. But I always like to add just a smidge more fruit 😊
Yeah.... those Americans... Always Too much 🤦🏼♂️
What kind of sugar works best?
I love how excited you are while using the wine bottle opener 😂
Haha! It never gets old with this gadget 😊
@@Downshiftology It's all about finding joy in the little things 😊
Hi! I'm from Spain and I really like see non spaniards making spanish dishes, but I never seen someone doing sangria! Here, the recipe varies from one part to the other of the country, so don't worry if someone tells you "we don't do this way", we are kind of attached to our recipes 🤣. I really enjoy your channel, keep going!
Hi Yolanda! The sangria recipe definitely varies across the country 😊 Thanks for the encouragement! I can understand if some people believe in a certain way to make sangria, especially if they're from Spain. But thanks for following along to Downshiftology and hope you continue to enjoy all my recipes!
Yes, so true.
Your pitcher is a show-stopper. It looks amazing with the sangria. I’m getting those. Thanks for the link!! Instead of maple syrup, I use triple-sec (which adds extra alcohol😉). Keep on smiling and stay healthy.
Thanks! Once I saw the pitcher, I had to get it haha 😆 Stay healthy and safe as well. And cheers to the long weekend!
I gave up on the thin necked or fancy ones, cleaning them was a massive pain.
Ended up finally finding a giant ceramic pitcher shaped like a large catering kettle with a decent heavy duty handle (a tall Christmas tree with the tip cut off).
what a great drink for summer!

Greetings from sunny South Africa! - the southern Cape which is similar to SoCal and the Med. I am entertaining tomorrow and the forecast is 44C, woke up this morning and SANGRIA, which I haven't made for year, popped into my head! Thanks for so cheerfully presenting your recipe and thank you to the other readers, los Españolos, who have added their comments. Due to a very wet summer across the country this year many fresh fruits are not readily available but I might add nectarines or even sweet melon along with an orange and an apple. I live in a huge wine producing area and this is one way to drink red in the height of summer! 😎🥰 Cheers! / ¡Salud!
Today is a sunny hot day in Puerto Rico. I literally have all the ingredients needed, I don't know why I didn't thought of it before.
I was looking for this comment. My mother made a jug a few days ago. We are also from PR and we love sangria.
In my country (Spain neighbor's!) we also use a stick of cinnamon and brown sugar. Blueberries and strawberries mixed with white whine is also great 😋
Where's my glass? 😊
I definitely need to try with cinnamon sticks next time 😊
As Spanish I need to say the recipe is very good 👍, well done, I love sangria. Funny thing i’ve started my own channel with Spanish cooking and sangria is one of the videos 😂
Thanks so much Cristina! I'll be sure to take a peek at yours 😊
in spanish: Hola: infinitas gracias por entregar estos secretos para un buen aperitivo, desde Torres del Paine, Chile, ultimo rincon del planeta, un saludo hermosos para Ud...gracias. una vez mas.

I made 2 pitchers of this yesterday. Huge hit - even with people who don't like wine or sangria. Thanks!
Amazing! 😊 Glad everyone enjoyed this recipe.
I’m a big sangria fan. Thank you for letting me know how to make it!
Hope you enjoy this recipe 😊
Downshiftology I shall.
Congrats on 1 million!
Thanks so much! 😊
During summer, sangria is a must in every Spanish bar!
I agree! It's so refreshing!
Sangria is one of my favourite drinks!!
Looks delicious! I make mine with half wine and half soda. Otherwise, I would be drunk after the first glass 😂😊!
Hahaha! Yes, you can definitely add more seltzer water to this 😊
I add sparkling water only in the glass, to taste, that takes less space in the fridge. I don't add liquor either, it's just good strong Spanish red wine. I add nectarines or peaches and some cinnamon sticks, no sugar, fruits bring the sweetness. That's how I learnt it in Europe and how I like it as it is light and fresh so I can have more! 🙂
@@MataH1 adding cinnamon sticks seems like a great idea! I'll have to try it!
perceneij yes!! No sugar for me either and I will definitely going to add the cinnamon stick!! Cheers! 🍷
Beet The Rush you are like me. I get drunk with one glass of wine, but I love Sangria..!😂
Hi Lisa!!!
Another from Spain!!! I am from Madrid, and as you can see all of us has different recipes for sangría.. I have made a little research on google cause I actually did not know the origin for this beverage. It seems, we are not very sure of it... only that is made in Spain and our wonderfull neighbours, Portugal. In Spain you can have it in everywhere in the south of Spain usually on summer holidays. But I have never taste it with brandy... I should give it a try!!!! I love your recipes!!! 😍😍 Oh!!! A RIOJA crianza!!!! sooooo goood!! 👌
Yes! Rioja is so delicious and perfect for this recipe. And the recipe really does differ in between regions 😊
Amazed by the amount of fruits you use🍊🍋🍊Looks so delicious!
You can never go wrong with adding more fruits to this recipe 😊
Moscato sangria sounds amazing!

Hi! I discovered your channel some days ago and I love it.
I'm from Spain, just wanted to say we don't usually add any other liquor to the sangria, just some soda. As for the fruit, peaches are great too.
Greetings from Spain.
Thanks for sharing! 😊

Delicious! I've made a few versions of it through the years. As a Hispanic (Cuban) we usually make it for parties and end of year celebrations. Yum, yum.

Oh its such a perfect say!
Love sangria!! Need to try this 🍷
It's the best! Can't ever go wrong with a fruity sangria 😊
If anyone is in Playa Del Carmen Mexico, on the Main Street with all the vendors, try the Sangria from a restaurant. It’s beyond fantastic. Also if your local liquor store carries it, try Real Sangria, orange bottle 🍷
I love the maple syrup top off. I'll be trying this recipe when my bar reopens. Thank you. 🙏🙏
Very very nice instructions
Thank you
I love Sangria but with the brandy in there it does pack a punch and it is delicious. Never made it myself but I love to drink it when in Spain on holidays
It definitely adds a boost in alcohol 😊And this is a great way to pretend your in Spain right at home!

I did not know the brandy part. Great recipe!
The brandy is optional, but you can always add to it 😊
Downshiftology I made a pitcher today and my hubby loved it, peach wine mango, apple, and oranges!
Omg that looks soooo good and I love that pitcher
Thanks for the recipe! I had to repeat that part in the beginning, I thought you said topless.....LOL tapas.
Hahah! Don't drink the whole pitcher or you may go topless 😂
What a great drinks
Cheers I'll drink to that!
oh boy, can't wait to try!
I'm making this...PERIOD!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Yes! Much needed for the long weekend 😂
Perfect timing for this with the weather getting so nice. The CO2 bottle openers are so easy, but they do not work on synthetic corks. Oh and yes its always the lemons fault haha. Have a great weekend.
Yeah, good point about the synthetic corks. And I'm totally blaming the lemon. 😂 Enjoy the recipe Chris!
The juicer! Perfect for a gift basket I’m making. Where could I purchase it? Thanks!
Hi there! You can find everything in the video description 😊

If you don't drink wine, you can always substitute with cranberry juice 😊
Just in time for an indoors kind of summer!

It'll taste delicious with white wine as well 😊 Can't wait to see how yours turns out!
Thanks for the video. I will try your sangria recipe this Sunday had I'm sure it will be very nice.
Enjoy the recipe Charles 😊
Nice I will try it thanks.
Most welcome 😊
I’am Spanish. Here there isn’t maple syrop, except perhaps on specialiced shops. SANGRÍA is a very comun and popular drink so there is no reason to use a very expensive sirop when we produce sugar (from beedroots, but Spain exports sugar. Maple syrop is and imported product from North America so Expensive not for everyday use) Another point is that sugar macerates the fruit wich is the reason for its use on the drink.
Sangría is red as blood, from there became it’s name. That color become only with RED WINE no other alcohol.
In summer festivities Sangría is a tipical drink. For example, if you go to SanFermines (Pamplona, Navarra, Spain … 6 -14 july).
I‘ve never seeing this drink with apples of any kind.
Here we use citrus, sugar, red wine ... and PEACH normaly canned (ingredients wather, sugar and Peach) Never use ice on a sangría except if you are going to drik inmediatly It wathers the wine and that is to throw away the money and the wine
What a great juse
I’m not much of a drinker but omg this looks so refreshing! Will definitely give it a shot!
You can always substitute the wine with cranberry juice 😊
My Sangria
Carmenier wine..
Orange Juice.
Brandys or Ron añejo
Diced asorted seasonals frutas

Congratulations on getting to over a million subscribers 😁
Thank you!! 😁 Couldn't have done it without my community.
