Hi guys - sangria is one of my favorite cocktails, and there's so many variations you can make. Are you team red wine or white wine? Check out the full blog post for a few ideas! Enjoy the long weekend (in the US) and stay safe. :) xo - Lisa
I'm from Spain, and i love your channel! I tell you how my family made it. We don't use brandy or other licor. Only fresh fruit : usually, 2 oranges, 2 peaches , (made it really delicious, 1lemon... red wine(2 lit.) , and soda, or lemon soda.(1 lit.), 2 spoons of brown sugar or other sweetener and 1 spoon cinnamon powder, it make it so tasty. The ice we put directly in the jar where you made the mixture. greetings!
Thanks for following along to my channel all the way from Spain 😊And thanks so much for sharing how your family makes this recipe. I love the addition of cinnamon in this - definitely something I will need to try next time!
Efectivamente.
Hi! I've read several comments made by Spanish people, I'm Spanish too, and for us adding peaches is a definitely MUST. It is a much more sweat fruit, and will reduce the need of adding any other additional type of sweater to those that do not wish to put sugar in it. And we definitely use a cheaper wine :) It has also become quite popular to do it with Cava (Spanish Champagne) instead of red wine. PS - I love your recipes. My favorite is the Falafel.
Thanks for sharing! There's definitely many ways to make a sangria, especially in different regions so It's nice hearing how everyone else makes it and the different delicious variations!
Just made this! Put the glasses in the freezer, letting the sangria rest over night, can’t wait to enjoy with brunch tomorrow! Snuck in a little sip and it was so yummy!
Hi! I'm from Spain and I really like see non spaniards making spanish dishes, but I never seen someone doing sangria! Here, the recipe varies from one part to the other of the country, so don't worry if someone tells you "we don't do this way", we are kind of attached to our recipes 🤣. I really enjoy your channel, keep going!
Hi Yolanda! The sangria recipe definitely varies across the country 😊 Thanks for the encouragement! I can understand if some people believe in a certain way to make sangria, especially if they're from Spain. But thanks for following along to Downshiftology and hope you continue to enjoy all my recipes!
I love making a alcohol free sangria, just substituting the wine with some grape and cranberry juice. People are usually a bit skeptical about this version but so far have always ended up loving it! ☺️
Your pitcher is a show-stopper. It looks amazing with the sangria. I’m getting those. Thanks for the link!! Instead of maple syrup, I use triple-sec (which adds extra alcohol😉). Keep on smiling and stay healthy.
I gave up on the thin necked or fancy ones, cleaning them was a massive pain. Ended up finally finding a giant ceramic pitcher shaped like a large catering kettle with a decent heavy duty handle (a tall Christmas tree with the tip cut off).
Greetings from sunny South Africa! - the southern Cape which is similar to SoCal and the Med. I am entertaining tomorrow and the forecast is 44C, woke up this morning and SANGRIA, which I haven't made for year, popped into my head! Thanks for so cheerfully presenting your recipe and thank you to the other readers, los Españolos, who have added their comments. Due to a very wet summer across the country this year many fresh fruits are not readily available but I might add nectarines or even sweet melon along with an orange and an apple. I live in a huge wine producing area and this is one way to drink red in the height of summer! 😎🥰 Cheers! / ¡Salud!
In my country (Spain neighbor's!) we also use a stick of cinnamon and brown sugar. Blueberries and strawberries mixed with white whine is also great 😋 Where's my glass? 😊
As Spanish I need to say the recipe is very good 👍, well done, I love sangria. Funny thing i’ve started my own channel with Spanish cooking and sangria is one of the videos 😂
I add sparkling water only in the glass, to taste, that takes less space in the fridge. I don't add liquor either, it's just good strong Spanish red wine. I add nectarines or peaches and some cinnamon sticks, no sugar, fruits bring the sweetness. That's how I learnt it in Europe and how I like it as it is light and fresh so I can have more! 🙂
Its the first time I am hearing about Sangria. Do we need to use a specific wine or any red wine 🍷 does the job? And at what time do we drink it, would that be before meal or after? I saw a sangria recipe with vanilla ice cream, would that be a desert?
Hi Lisa!!! Another from Spain!!! I am from Madrid, and as you can see all of us has different recipes for sangría.. I have made a little research on google cause I actually did not know the origin for this beverage. It seems, we are not very sure of it... only that is made in Spain and our wonderfull neighbours, Portugal. In Spain you can have it in everywhere in the south of Spain usually on summer holidays. But I have never taste it with brandy... I should give it a try!!!! I love your recipes!!! 😍😍 Oh!!! A RIOJA crianza!!!! sooooo goood!! 👌

Delicious! I've made a few versions of it through the years. As a Hispanic (Cuban) we usually make it for parties and end of year celebrations. Yum, yum.
If anyone is in Playa Del Carmen Mexico, on the Main Street with all the vendors, try the Sangria from a restaurant. It’s beyond fantastic. Also if your local liquor store carries it, try Real Sangria, orange bottle 🍷
0:57 Okay, for safety's sake, if you're going to cut fruit (or anything round) in to half, or quarter, circles, then cut the whole fruit in half first, then place the fruit/vegetable on to that new flat surface and continue cutting from there. That will make it much more stable.

Perfect timing for this with the weather getting so nice. The CO2 bottle openers are so easy, but they do not work on synthetic corks. Oh and yes its always the lemons fault haha. Have a great weekend.

Team red but I’ve tried your white sangria and loved it! It was certainly a hit at a family dinner. Will be giving this recipe a go as well.

I hate alcohol. In fact I'm allergic to it so your non alcoholic sangria sounds great.
well, it's not sangria then - you've made a juice cocktail
I like smoking weed without the thc too
