My favorite part of this album is when he goes "AAAAAAAUGHGEYOUUAAAAAAAUGHGEUWAYAAAAAAAUGHGEYOUUAAAAAAAUGHGEUWAY!!!!!"
Greg is in a new project called Better Lovers. They released an ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING EP last year you might want to check out. There's also members from Everytime I Die and Will Putney From Fit For An Autopsy. Something tells me that project is about to blow up in the scene.
Great video! There will be no other band like TDEP, one of the greatest of all time. Calculating Infinity is as important for metal as Death and Black Sabbath Debuts were.
Wait Greg is the vocalist for Better Lovers?! I've actually heard that EP and did not even know that was him. You just blew my mind haha.
I definitely have to binge watch your Dillinger Escape Plan video series 🔥
Aw thanks! I hope you enjoy them, this band is wild. Delving into their music is one of the best decisions I've made.
Awesome reaction as always! The Black Queen is more in line with the final song on here IMO with Greg flexing his softer vocal style over electronic stuff. I think you'll really dig The Black Queen though, pretty much Greg's version of Crosses (probably even better...and this is coming from a Chino fanboy!). His solo stuff is a mishmash of electronic stuff and more rock stuff.
If the last track Dissociation is any indication I will LOVE The Black Queen. Anything dark/atmospheric/electronic I usually am really into, and Greg's vocals are the cherry on top. I'll try and get to a reaction for it soon on the channel, can't wait to hear it!
I normally don't like music reaction videos but this was pretty great. Lots of actually interesting analysis. You're really good at articulating how each song sounds to you and what you like about them. Love seeing more people appreciate Dillinger!
Aw you're awesome, thanks so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. TDEP is such a talented band, each and every one of their albums has been executed brilliantly and it's been a pleasure discovering their music here on the channel.
Woo Hoo!! Awesome reaction, Molly!! This review made my year so far. :^D Thank you so much for reviewing Dillinger's final album. Surrogate, Honeysuckle and Manufacturing Discontent are my favorite three consecutive tracks from the band. I really hope they will tour around the country again one day so you can witness their chaotic amazingness on stage. They announced a few shows in NYC this summer, catch them if you can!
Also, I recently saw the band Poison the Well in concert and had not known about them before, but their set was so good!! They have some similarities to DEP and think you will enjoy hearing their music. Keep up the good work, Molly! 🖤🤘
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction to the final Dillinger album, my apologies for keeping y'all waiting 6 months!!! Time really does seem to fly. But this was a fantastic album for them to close out their career together as a band with, I love how atmospheric and experimental they went with the sound. I'd love to see them live some day if I get the chance! And I've got Poison The Well on my list of other bands to check out, I don't believe I've heard any of their music.
What a Journey 🎉. Love every Dillinger video that you gave us. Thank you so much!
Please continue your ride with Mastodon and go for Leviathan
Your channel helps me explore and find new good music! You rule Molly!
Thank you so much, that's awesome to hear!! I love that you're finding new music through these videos :)
Loved your review [as always]...tongue twisters & all ! 😂
I was waiting for this reaction for so long!!! This album is so good, the last song is heartbreaking
Thank you for waiting! I didn't mean for it to take me six months since my last Dillinger video, oops. Time gets away from me sometimes. And yeah the title track is magnificent, such a style change for them to end the album on. It's somehow very relaxing, somewhat unsettling and emotional all in one song.
It really is a very good final chapter. Still missing them 😢
Yes, this was such an amazing closing curtain on their career as a band. Absolutely brilliant album.
they are playing shows in 2024 with original lead singer Dimitri.
Omg the FINAL Dillinger album!!! I can't wait to see this. Do you think there will be an album ranking in the future?
I know, I was just looking and it has been six months since my last Dillinger reaction... this video was long overdue. I LOVE how atmospheric this one was though, they really embraced that dark electronic style to it that I really enjoyed. I've thought about a ranking, I'll definitely consider it although that would be incredibly difficult. Of all the bands I've done on this channel Dillinger is by far the hardest one for me to pinpoint a favorite album from. All six (plus their EP with Mike Patton) have all brought a unique style to their music.
Loved your review [as always],,,tongue twisters & all! 😂
Oh my... this is one of my favorite albums ever. Heartbreaking closure to their career.
Absolutely incredible video. Dillinger are esidly one of my favourite bands of all time..
I was lucky enough to see them for rhe first time on their final UK tour for Dissociation.
I have to suggest reacting to Converge. They match DEPs energy and aggression are are completely unrivalled in their field. Just indescribable.
Thanks for watching! Yes, TDEP always come through with every album in their discography. The amount of talent they have is insane. This was a fantastic way to finish off their albums, I loved the heavy atmospheric elements to this one. If they ever get together again for a tour or something I'm definitely going to have to see them live! And I love Converge, another fantastic band! I actually did an album ranking video a while back on the channel for them if you're interested.

It was actually announced that they're doing a few shows here in New York this summer with Dimitri in celebration of the 25 year anniversary of Calculating Infinity. I wonder if it becomes an official reunion rather than just those shows.
crossing my fingers DEP comes back properly with Dimitri leading.
Ooh good to know! I'd love to see them performing live if I ever get the chance. And yes an official reunion would be amazing!
I love this rock music
Yes, The Dillinger Escape Plan is fantastic! I've loved diving into their albums here on the channel.
i NEED to re-visit this album 🔥
Definitely do that if you get the chance! The whole project is seamless from beginning to end.
oh yes, been waiting for this
Thank you for waiting! Sorry it took so long lol, hope you enjoy the reaction :)
@@mollyesanborn no need to say sorry, im just happy with the fact that you finished dillinger discography;)
There is also a single between this album and the previous one called Happiness is a Smile.
I'll have to give that a listen! Thanks for letting me know.
You should also check out any band that Josh Scogin has been in. Most share some of the same elements as Dillinger. The first Norma Jean album and the band The Chariot
@@dylanunderwood6594 good to know, thanks! :)
The final track feels like a proper finale to everything DEP has made up to that point. It was produced by Zach Hill and Andy Morin, both from Death Grips. You compared it to Björk, someone who has collaborated with Death Grips some times.
I can really hear the Death Grips influence, thanks for pointing that out! A fantastic way to bring their run as a band to a close.
Molly , I can see your future, there you are listening to "waking the fallen" but I could be wrong, the choice is yours ❤
Haha, great comment! I will definitely have to make the right choice...
The feeling of this album (regardless of lyrics tho relevant) is the equivalent of sara's journey in requiem for a dream. I love this album, and i love jmpressing (some and by some very few lol) people by screaming limerent or the last couple tracks...but like requiem i can only listen to this one every once in a while cause its fucking heavy man
Also some other comments have mentioned better lovers featuring greg but i didnt see anyone mention the other guys in the band i think came from every time i die. That ep is amazing
Also...its 2024 its time to do coheed and cambrias discography
Ahh yes Requiem For A Dream... I love that movie. I know what you mean about the heaviness. And I'd love to get to Coheed And Cambria soon, I'll keep them in mind for a future video!
@@mollyesanborn awesome homie
Since you clearly enjoy Dillinger & Crosses you've got to check out The Black Queen. It's very similar sonically to Crosses & it's honestly my favorite project by Greg aside from Dillinger of course lol. I highly recommend both albums.
Noted, I'll definitely plan on doing a Black Queen reaction! I'm excited to finally hear them.
Im not sure if these would be something you would listen to on the channel, but dillinger has an EP called "under the running board" that they made before calculating infinity, and before the EP they have a short self-titled album.
I think a few people have mentioned Under The Running Board, I wasn't aware of their self-titled album though. Thanks for letting me know! Yeah I'll definitely have to give both of those projects a listen as well, would be cool to hear their really early stuff when they were just starting out.
Definitely give Greg’s first solo album a go
Noted, I'll definitely have to give that a listen!
"Rolo Tomassi" is a band that is really similiar to Dillinger Escape Plan, not as well known, and has a female vocalist that sings on the songs in certain parts.
Great suggestion, I've heard some of their music and really enjoy what I've checked out so far. I still have more of their discography to delve into though, I've only scratched the surface.
The band the callous daoboys have revived this mathcore sound by adding more of an emo/post feel to the Dillinger blueprint. Would love to see you react to their stuff as it is very much a spiritual successor to DEP
I've actually heard some of their music, they're a fantastic band! I totally agree on the mathcore/emo crossover vibe. Their album Celebrity Therapist was one of my favorites from 2022.
Woah another Sanborn!
Many years later and I still miss this band. Good thing most of the members are still making music.
If you want some suggestions then there are three bands kind of similar to Dillinger that I'd like to see if they align with something your into and to see if you can do reactions to their work:
Between The Buried And Me: Progressive death metal and metalcore band with a lot of similar dynamics in their music
Converge: One of the heaviest and most chaotic metalcore bands ever (some would argue calling them the heaviest)
Every Time I Day: Similar in some aspects of Dillinger but with more of a southern metal vibe
Yeah, this was such a bittersweet album to finally get to, I'm sad that my run with Dillinger's discography is over but they ended it on a magnificent note with this album. This band never misses a beat, every album has brought so much diversity with their style. I appreciate the other band suggestions, someone else also mentioned Every Time I Die, I'll definitely have to check them out. BTBAM I know I've heard a few tracks from but not much, I really enjoy the few things I've heard though. And yes Converge is fantastic! One of my favorite bands actually, I did a discography ranking video for them a while back on the channel if you're interested.
I feel like now you have to do Every Time I Dies discography and then jump into Greg's new band Better Lovers. Which is Greg with almost all the musicians from Every Time I Die.
I will definitely have to give Every Time I Die a listen, I know they've been suggested a fair bit on the channel. I've actually heard the EP from Better Lovers already and really enjoyed it, funnily enough I had no idea it was Greg on vocals until people mentioned it here in the comments of this video. I'll keep an eye out for when they get an album out, that'll be awesome to hear!
Hi Molly!!!
Again a superb video.
May I suggest a reaction to "The chronicles of life and death" by Good Charlotte.
That's a band that marked my childhood and I wanna hear your opinion!!!
As always have a nice one.
Thanks for watching! I'll make sure that your album suggestion is on my list :)
Amazing album
omg you actually did it! havent watched it yet i needed to catch up on the preview 2 dillinger reviews.... Dissociation is their swansong is it not XD
One of the greatest hardcore albums ever made, let alone one of the greatest swan songs of the genre. This is literally one of the best Dillinger albums ever made. Tied with Irony, OP and OOUITK for me. So many great songs here but the title track? That hits deep. They could've chosen to go out with their trademark iconic chaotic sound but no, they slowed it down and gave us a beautiful slowburner of a funeral. Fun fact, Zach Hill from Death Grips played additional drums on the song so I suppose the chaotic factor was still there in some way lol.
Yes! I love how they decided to end this record with such an unexpected track, I loved the smooth atmospheric quality of it. Just a stellar way to close out their run as a band.
Lol I was talking to someone about this album recently and just today happened to see this video.
We need some more Dillenger Escape Plan in our lives. At least there's better lovers. They better come out with a full album this year.
Someone else just mentioned that Greg is the vocalist for Better Lovers and I am embarrassed to say that I've heard their EP God Made Me An Animal and didn't realize it was him. I'll definitely keep my eyes out for new releases from them!
@@mollyesanbornIf they would have made "God made me an animal" into a full album, it would have been in the top 10 albums of 2023 for sure.
They are touring playing Calculating Infinity with the original vocalist this year!
Also you should check out The Ocean. I think you would love their newest album Holocene.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add it to my list :)
A bitter sweet album it being their last but it is one of their strongest. Definitely recommend The Black Queen. The guitarist Ben did a great album with Brent from Mastodon called Giraffe Tongue Orchestra which I personally love too.
Yes, I think Dissociation is one of my favorites from Dillinger as well (although all six albums have been amazing). I love how atmospheric and electronic leaning this one was, it makes me very excited to hear The Black Queen now as I know that project is also more on the electronic side. I'll be sure to make a note of Giraffe Tongue Orchestra too, thanks for letting me know!
Also worth checking out is thoughtcrimes featuring Billy Rymer (drummer) and Azusa and John Frum featuring Liam Wilson (bass).
I would love to see a reaction to Artificial Brain - Labyrinth Constellation (2014) Absolutely stunning tech death album.
Thank you for the content.
Thanks for watching! I'll be sure to keep your suggestion in mind :)
❤️
:)
The plan finally came to fruition, and Mr. Dillinger got away! This band will never be duplicated. ❤
Here's some random suggestions to check out or not:
Aphex Twin
Rocket From the Crypt
Primus
At the Drive-in
(And The Mars Volta, for that matter)
Yes I'm glad I finally got to the final Dillinger album! And they did not disappoint, this was a fantastic way to finish off their run as a band. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll make note of all of those! At The Drive-In and Primus especially have been suggested quite a bit. And I've actually heard The Mars Volta already, I did a discography ranking for them a while back on the channel. Such a fantastic band!
@@mollyesanborn Completely forgot you had done that! There's such a contrast between Mars Volta & At the Drive-in, despite having the same core members... looking forward to that if it happens!
If you want tonal changes in music, or genre switches.... give Igorrr a shot. Although if you're going to do the whole discography.... uhh, good luck? First album (if you can find it) is basically unrecognizable if you've heard the latest one. Igorrr as we know today it starts to emerge in Hallelujah. It's been a wild ride, since I've listened to him (& them) since the first EP.
Wow, 7:00 reminds me of Igorrr. Not too many groups have much in common with Igorrr.
If you haven't checked them out yet, I think you'd enjoy Between the Buried and Me. People, sound off on suggestions. Yes, Colors, but what else?
It's a shame that the Dillinger Escape Plan review have been finished, they're so brutal in a good way. Wich one will be your next? 🤔 Hope you give a chance to some of my recommendations. 😊
I know, I'm sad too that I'm finished with all of their albums. I'll definitely be doing a video for The Black Queen when I check that out though. I've got some ideas for new bands to dive into, and I want to continue with some of the other series I've got going as well. Pantera, Lamb Of God, Godflesh, Marilyn Manson, and Porcupine Tree are just a few of the bands I'm going to try and get to soon! But definitely suggest any others as well :)
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to Jar by Superheaven, it's grunge revival and the whole album is like a time machine back to the 90s despite it being only 10 years old.
Thank you for the suggestion! I'll keep that one in mind :)
Please you have to react to pantera, it would be interesting if you reacted to his album the great southern trendkill, it is super hard and experimental at the same time
Great timing! I'm just seeing this comment now but I've got a Pantera reaction coming your way VERY SOON, stay tuned ;)
The Callous Daoboys
Fantastic band! They are definitely a talented group, I've heard their newest album Celebrity Therapist and loved it.
Review Warm Gadget! New album out soon on @Re:mission Entertainment
I'll have to check your music out! I'll keep my eyes out for the new album :)
Edit: I'm really digging The Masses! Right up my alley with the heavy industrial/electronic sound to it. When is the full album coming out?
Hi girl! As I appreciate your reactions so much, I would also like to make a suggestion. The band is Heaven's Guardian from Brazil. The style is Symphonic Metal.
The song is Artificial Times:
ua-cam.com/video/KUu-iqbg73I/v-deo.html
The song is part of the first studio album "Chronos" recorded by a metal band and a professional orchestra/choir. Hope you like them. Thx!
Thank you for the suggestion! Your description sounds like something I'd really enjoy, I'll have to give Heaven's Guardian a listen.
Ohh, thank you so much for that. If you have any questions or information you need, just send me your email and I will be happy to send you all the information.
Please talk about big chef's iPhone 4 free giveaway album
I'll keep it in mind, thank you for the suggestion :)
You need to hear Babymetal and Maximum the Hormone even more. :)
I will keep both of those bands in mind, thanks!
@@mollyesanborn babymetal is best live tho to be honest. But maximum the hormone is incredible in everyway. Like Japanese system of a down mixed with tool and rage against the machine. Cheers 😀
also can you check out Time has comes self titled album, it literally only has 600 views on it so I like to see it get more repetition online. It's a fucked album though is sounds like a mental breakdown
I'll definitely make sure to add that one to my list! Thank you for the suggestion.
@@mollyesanborn that's sounds good to me, can't wait!
Wonderful as always ❤ please check out ULTRASPANK. Early 2000 rock band
Thank you! And I've got your album suggestion on my list :)
I know you have done Soundgarden but you have missed one of the best albums of the 90s. Badmotorfinger is IMO the best grunge Album. Superunknown is great but Badmotorfinger is more what grunge is supposed to sound like . Not like Peral Jam (Ten) or Nirvana (Nevermind). The vocals by Chris are some of the best on any album. Chris Cornell is my absolute favourite singer of all time.
I will absolutely do a reaction video for Badmotorfinger as well! I'll try and plan on it really soon, I can't wait to hear it.
PLEASE READ THIS
React to the album. when the kite string pops by acidbath PLEASE PLEASE pretty please
Definitely, I've got it on my list! Can't wait to hear that album.
What the hell this album isn't on UA-cam music why??
Great reaction! Could you make a reaction on Bring Me The Horizon-Sempiternal, insanely great and influential metal album!
Great suggestion! I've actually heard that album already, it's awesome.
@@mollyesanborn Ohh nice! In that case another suggestion would be the first album of the most successful band ever from Finland where i live, HIM-Greatest Lovesongs Vol.666, doom metal, love metal, whatever you want to call it, one of the closest things to Type O Negative i would say!
Don't believe I've heard that one yet, I'll check it out. Thanks!
Hi Molly, I’m Paul.
I'm literally in love with u
Aw thanks! Hope you enjoy the video :)
Singer sounds like he wants to be Mike patton always rubs me the wrong way
You’re so cute missy.
