I do not view ubisoft any more highly than activision, both are just corporations trying to make money. The so-called "competition" in the gaming industry is actually just a question of who f%cks up first. My biggest fear for Xdefiant in terms of how they could Fu%k up the game is neither on the technical side nor gameplay balancing side. I think, for the lack of better words, they will eventually be emboldened enough by their success to add a bad(as in the character themselves are annoying or obnoxious) identity politics character. Things would likely still be resolved in an acceptable way for most people. But the whole debacle could end up souring the relationship with the community. Which I would argue to be the most important asset of this game, regardless of its current flaws.
Xdefiants Season 2 needs to be freaking Godlike if they don't want the game to slowly die off after Black Ops Release. The no SBMM Speech wont keep the game up forever. they seriously need to expand the game with content in the upcoming seasons.
This is what people don't get: every F2P game like Xdefiant, Ironsight, Shatterline, and every other good FPS will never achieve the same level of recognition. You can hate SBMM, but the name is so big that people know it keeps the game alive. Xdefiant has no story-driven content. What is Xdefiant? What makes it competitive against CoD? If there's no SBMM, then what's different? Nothing. We're getting older, and teenagers only recognize the big names. Xdefiant? I don't know. I play tons of good FPS games, but in terms of marketing and recognition? Xdefiant needs to offer more than just multiplayer. Believe me, if Black Ops 6 releases, there's no way people wouldn't buy that game.

I'm by no means a COD fanboy, but I am very interested by BO6 and think it's going to pull a lot of people (especially casual players) away from XDefiant. I'm personally having a lot of fun with the game and have been playing it regularly for the past week or two, but I'd be lying if I said XDefiant was 100% going to keep me glued to it once BO6 drops. I'll likely keep playing XDefiant even after BO6, but if BO6 is fun, I could see that playtime dropping significantly. I know EOMM/SBMM is going to be killer, but there is something about Black Ops games that I love, and I played Cold War a ton. Odds are I will enjoy BO6. XDefiant won't die by any means and will always have a (potentially niche) playerbase once BO6 drops, but they can stay relevant if they continue in the direction they've been going--listening to the community, making quick changes to balance issues, fixing technical problems, adding a ton of content, making the gameplay feel fresh and exciting every season with new additions, etc. They've been doing well so far, but this needs to keep up (and even improve) if they want to keep this game relevant in the face of BO6's inevitable domination of the FPS market.
I should also add that if I do buy the game, it'll be for more than just MP. Zombies and Campaign are also awesome and are free from the predatory EOMM nonsense they have in the MP. If the MP sucks, at least I'll have Zombies to fall back on, which is always a good time, especially with friends.

Rainbow Six: Siege does not really have any serious Competition when it comes to the Style of gameplay it offers. Xdefiant has a damn Juggernaut called COD as a competition lol HUGE Difference.
He makes a good point about seiges beginning tho. It released at a time that FPS gamers where insanely more lower to COD and there was battlefield to battle at that point too and siege was able to keep its player base and I don’t think that’s completely because it’s different than cod but also because it was better than modern CODs in a lot of ways like Xdefiant

As for me I'm done with call of duty I'm not even buying the game until I see what's going on with the algorithm but if x defiant plays their cards right and gives the fans what they want will it beat call of duty when it releases no but after people see how bad the algorithm is in Black ops 6 there's a good chance that they'll go over to x defiant for some release so as long as that's defiant plays their cards right I think it will last just my opinion

Defiant community is the cod community is it's like 2 brick walls screaming at each other! Your all the same person 1 way or another Imaoooo cod will never be 2nd to anybody and defiant can't even beat out overwatch or fortnite. So I never see why people take defiant serious. Black Ops is the only COD Series that has not missed. XDefiant will milk tf outta us the next 4 months guaranteed

I seen a few ppl mad about the sudden increase of weapon level to unlock gold from 100 to 200. Hopefully this does not affect the game’s longevity.
Unlocking attachments is faster though from what I have read

Dev support and good seasonal content will keep xdefiant relevant, just look at Rainbow Six: Siege, which was released in 2015.
