That speech about the fact that the myth of the Tasmanian Tiger has become it's resurrection of sorts was really well written, I tip my hat to ya man, and the ending especially was just so heartfelt that I can't not exclaim my appreciation of your content once again. Keep it up, mate, and may the new decade and all of your upcoming projects bring ya as much emotional satisfaction and joy as possible, cheers!:)

You could say that Ty grew out of the "edgy, combat oriented" phase of his career.
But by simply playing it safe without taking too much risks, it proves to be a detriment to this game.
Fortunately, with the modern re-releases, the spirit of Ty will be preserved and cherished, we may even get a fifth game at some point in time.

Overall, a great finish to a wonderful series review, well done! I might honestly think about checking these games out at some point in the future. Your reviews are great in general and this is a great example of when they shine the most. Also, I was wondering on when you plan to review Sly 4...or Thieves in Time as it’s known? It’s the only Sly game (as far as I’m aware) that you haven’t reviewed yet. I saw your Game Testing video on it for the first time in August and am VERY interested on hearing your opinion of it, as most people (including me) would agree that’s it’s pretty mixed to be honest!

It's a shame no one really knew what to do with the series, it seems all the classic 3D platformers suffered the same fate. I'm glad 3D platforming is making a comeback after all these years, maybe Ty will come back too along with Crash and Spyro.

Budget and skills I assume is a reason, as I've noticed with many that are too ambitious or having some good concepts but not being too 'out there that it doesn't work all the time' from the PS1 to end of the PS2 era as few on PS3/360 did much for me. Like Spare Parts was 'fine' but not that interesting as even the B grade games before I found more entertaining and creative. That or trying to add new additions like the combo based fighting, RPG elements being not too tedious was a bit difficult and detracting from the platforming/minigames too much. That or people just focus too much on the big successful ones and taking the lower tier too seriously as terrible is likely. Not trying to be rude with that last one but besides advertising or the themes/characters not being interesting, people sticking with the best isn't rare. To me I think Blinx, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Voodoo Vince and Scaler (maybe some others) are good ways of doing platforming while doing other things and not overdoing it, that or making it have platforming, but it's not the main focus and it still works where while the character seems Platforming game like it works. Which as Knack is seen as a platformer when it's not shows how it's reputation is, it is more like God of War with combo fitting/mini arena level design then core platforming focus, but since it's colourful, has platforming and might be aimed at kids it's a platformer to many people I guess. I've not seen the ads so I don't know even though I've played both. Back to the B grade games though. And how with Blinx the 'action' focus of the sequel compared to the first's heavy puzzle and strict requirements for later levels made it not that accessible and too many dramatic changes later and it's only kind of using the ideas well compared to before. Balance and new ideas are not easy, but with Yooka Laylee and others besides Crash & Spyro's high status returning we might get a few interesting entries and new characters from new and returning staff on new games and characters. I just hope they don't do the whole RPG approach shooters and RPG have been doing as I'm not into them, combo based fighting I can take but not games as a service or too many tedious side quests. The minigames in Spyro 2 onwards weren't my favourite but were fine, making them more than minigames and I'd give up I think. Sorry for the big comment, just a lot on my mind.

With it being PC only (Windows 8 store at first, but for Steam much later) and lack of advertising it's not surprising. I didn't know until Nitro Rad's review. Honestly seeing the phone game at the start of the video was a surprise. I don't know if Krome is still small or much bigger but still Independent now but Australian dev teams I don't think are that big and most make mobile games, I know there is a 2K in Australia but don't know about many indies that are medium sized or make console games and aren't a division or making mobile games these days. I haven't looked much but from what it seems I wouldn't be surprised if it is only mobile or divisions that exist now.

I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but you're right, that Ty commercial really is funny with the benefit of hindsight. Ty implying that he legitimately beat the shit out of them, and then you fast forward to today, with Sonic Mania, Reignited Trilogy and Ctr on one side, and a franchise that went nowhere and has one solid game under its name, on the other. Pitiful, the idea behind Ty is solid, but it lost its direction so quickly.......

Hey Jack, I’ve been loving your videos. Personally I love horror and platformer videos the best. I want to point out that there are some games which other UA-camrs are just not getting around to, which could be good for you to consider reviewing. Games like Toy Story 2 for N64/PS1 and Klonoa for PlayStationa re virtually untouched by reviewers that aren’t boring. I think you could do an awesome Toy Story 2 review, it was a great game. Because you remind me of AVGN I think that some more obscure games would suit you as well, but from what I can see N64/PS1/PS2 games are most popular atm, which is why a lot of indie developers are adding filters to their games to make them look like PS1 graphics. I love that most of your videos feature 3D graphics, as those are most memorable to me. ^_^ There are also some cool Spider-Man games for PS1 and some more relaxed games like Harvest Moon which don’t have a whole lot of attention. I hear the N64 version has a lot of depth! Another great series was Rugrats for N64 and PS1. I actually prefer the PS1 version as it has a better setting but the N64 Paris setting is also cool, just less engaging IMO. Another thing to possibly check out is the movie renditions of games back then which weren’t as bad as they are now- specifically Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. TLM spans both games and is slightly interesting. Monsters Inc for PS1 is pretty good as well and I don’t see much content for them. An obscure PS2 platformer I don’t see much content on is Tak and the Power of Juju. I had a lot of fun with this game and it’s sequel, there are some great environments here you could take a look at. Pitfall for Xbox was also pretty interesting and was more of a puzzle game with Tomb Raider elements. Tomb Raider for PS1 also has a lot of stuff to get pissed off at, lol. I think NitroRad has done really well reviewing more obscure games like Zapper.. Woody woodpecker and Buzz Lightyear for PS2 are some similar games like that which I haven’t seen many people get into. Sorry for the rant I just wanted to encourage you and maybe give you some ideas for the future, personally I’d love to see Toy Story 2 reviewed by someone like you or Nitro :P Thanks for all the great content!

2:08 Game Room what a total mess that was full of bad controls and poor emulation though so was Hellboy Science of Evil on 360 by Krome around same time. The game was never finished so you can only get 800 out of the 1000 Gamer score since the last 200 are tied to content they never finished.

    • @SquareEyedJak

Ashamed to admit I put a bit of money into the Game Room because I was really starting to get into retro stuff at the time (and didn't really know what emulators were) so it was good for that.
But yeah, complete disaster of an app, which is really all it was.

@@SquareEyedJak It was meant to last 5 years too I even bought a DLC unlock pack for it that was only on Microsoft store that never worked for anyone nor did anyone get a refund on it either because the listing was removed online for it within days.
Blade Kitten had a wonky history too it was a 2 part game but some legal issues with Atari stopped the second part coming out. on consoles despite begin completed.Until the PC version years later where it was sold as DLC.

Note with composition when switch from gameplay to live action. Make sure that the subject is in the same place. So when Ty is in the middle, make sure you are in the middle. Otherwise we get lost on where you are. I got lost on where you were multiple times. Especially when you are wearing clothes that blend into the background.
I know it's a nitpick and most people won't really care or notice, but it would improve the videos even a little bit. Don't see enough Aussie game reviewers on the site. The only other one I know is very drunk

    • @SquareEyedJak
      @SquareEyedJak  4 роки тому

That was actually the goal to have people looking to see where I was going to pop out of amongst the trees, however I'll try not to go so overboard with it in the future. I don't usually get to film reviews in any interesting locations so I went nuts with the shots. Cheers! 😄
