So sweet of you to mention me, even though it wasn't me, haha! All of your gift knits are making me feel guilty, especially that scarf, WOW they are so lucky to receive that from you!
For using hand-dyed yarn in a big project, look into helical knitting (Knitty Natty has a great video on it). I'm doing helical knitting/alternating skeins for the first time in a colorwork sweater and it is so much less scary than it seems! Basically, you knit your row with strand A to your BOR then let the yarn drop where it wants to fall (back for knits, front for purls) and pick up strand B. Knit one row with strand B until 3 stitches before the dropped strand A (including the stitch that you dropped the yarn at) then slip those 3 stitches purlwise so now strand A is on the right needle and is ready to resume as your working yarn. You just keep doing that, and your skein changes will spiral so you avoid color pooling! I hope that makes sense, it's really very simple once you get the hang of it. Good luck!
For alternating skeins, i usually just do it for the last 10 grams and first 10 grams. If the skeins are closely matched, that is usually enough. I quite like the yarn forward method for stockinette. You may have already done it but this is my cheat sheet on grafting in pattern: Following the standard 4step process of 1. Front Needle remove; 2. Front Needle leave; 3. Back Needle remove; 4. Back Needle leave and also assuming you are starting with a Knit so you do the set-up of purlwise through the front needle st, leave and knitwise through the back needle st, leave: If you want to make a Knit followed by a Knit, do KPPK If you want to make a Knit followed by a Purl, do KKPP If you want to make a Purl followed by a Purl, do PKKP If you want to make a Purl followed by a Knit, do PPKK Hope that makes sense. Maybe do a little bit on a swatch first?
Enjoyed your podcast. I would try the Sweet Shop blanket for your Wool of the Andes. Lately I’ve taken to knitting blankets and it’s such a relaxing project to have on the needles. I think there are also some neat new techniques that can be gained from this pattern as well esp since you like short rows.
Wow how many gift knits you are making! 💪🏼🎄 I love the blanket idea, but I will throw in another pattern suggestion. I’m biased since it is my own design, but it’s a fun blanket to make a it has stripes! So I encourage you to check out Zigzag Zen blanket. 😇 I do love and recommend Laura’s patterns as well, I have made a couple and she writes her patterns really well.
For the skein issue with the line you can do helical knitting with 2 balls of yarn of knit with one ball of yarn and then before you change balls alternate every other round for about 5-10 rounds and then break the first ball and continue with the 2nd ball
I knitted one sweet shop blanket and really did not like dealing with the finishing. It’s fun to knit the squares, tho. I find it better to crochet blankets. Lots of ideas on the Daisy Farm crafts channel.
I feel like maybe the blanket is the move? Because you can do the sweater as a striped pattern in the future quite easily but maybe the sweet shop blanket you wouldn’t be inclined to go out and purchase the full set of yarn needed to make it?
I purchased the Semper v neck sweater. OMG it was the worst most convoluted pattern I have used after 60 years of knitting! Pages and pages of pattern instructions. For such a basic pattern the instructions make it soooooo very complicated trying to figure out the number of stitches required for my size as well as increases and decreases! Would never ever purchase any of these patterns. When I reached out to designer questing some of the instructions I got support. Only that no one else had issues. Worst customer service!
Your Semper Slipover V-Neck looks great with your hair color. Thanks for the 3mm knitting needle info. 🧶

I’m almost done with a big sweet shop blanket, and I want to make another one. Fantastic pattern, super satisfying to work up. 10/10 recommend.

I’m so happy to see a new video of yours. You’re just on fire knitting wise! I love how you talk about challenges. Super inspiring!
I second the Stripe Hype!
Okay I was genuinely relieved to get an answer to the needle size puzzle
i'm so glad someone else was invested lol
I vote for the blanket! I love blankets 😊
You crack me up! You're so funny. Love your videos.

I LOVE my 9” circular US1 and US2 needles for sock knitting! Almost exclusively what I use except like you said DPNs are better for colorwork
New study knits podcast just dropped!!
Maybe do the Stripe Hype Sweater by Kutovakika! Perfect way to use scraps!
oooo! Lana vest is on my list to knit but I've never done cables and I'm a little intimidated

There's a sweater pattern called Sea Glass Sweater that can use any number of colors, I think it's worth a try
If you don't want to alternate skeins the entire time you could just alternate towards the end of the skein so that the transition is smoother.
Love the vests and I wish the US would phase in metric system only. As a parent, fraction homework is horrible
yes!!! metric system >>>>>>>

I also started watching stockinettebitch this past weekend !!
