your intro to this video is *exactly* what i'm currently struggling with! I want to knit interesting and "fun to knit" things, but that doesn't always lead to things that have a place in my wardrobe. basically, i've been loving your videos (i loved your vintage colorwork one) because I like your overlap of fashion/style AND knitting, not just knitting 💕
I love fashion and knitting helps me with that! I love wearing my "fun to knit" things out a lot more than the staple pieces because they bring me such joy. Anything with colorwork and textures are usually my go-to cause I can always pair it with basic denim or skirts and they elevate the outfit ❤
I really like following along with your knitting and design plans - I think your combination of current fashion and knitting world fashion is pretty unique and inspiring! I never considered myself fashionable (I used to mainly wear my older brother’s hand me downs when I was a kid, even though my mum loved to put me in dresses) but it was a nice surprise when I passed a high end fashion store and they had a top that was almost identical to a sweater I knit displayed front and center 😂
It's always so satisfying to see a really nice sweater in store and realize you've made something similar yourself 🤭 I don't consider myself fashionable either, but I like to think I have a strong sense of personal style (aka knowing what I like and don't like), and it's fun to explore that through knitting!
I'm currently knitting the smocky cardigan as my first ever sweater project and the smock stitch has been really easy so I wouldn't worry about that! I can really recommend the pattern
I don't envy you when it comes to making the final decision. ALL the patterns are wonderful, and your yarn choices are fabulous! (I did like the "brownie and light blue " combo. And you really seemed to )like that one too.Follow your heart.) I found several patterns I would love to knit just watching your very well thought out video. Good job! Can't wait to see what you end up making,
Yay! I am so happy to hear you were able to find some pattern inspo from this video 🤭 The more I think about it, the more I am leaning into the brown and blue combo too. We'll see what eventually happens 😂
Definitely interested in a video of non-traditional advent projects!! Getting my second advent, but not into shawls or blankets…would love to make garments!
Ahhh can you believe advent season is almost here?! I have already been looking at patterns, and will hopefully have a video on some garment advent ideas next month!
Excellent analysis.. I am totally with you on the “ would knit cables forever instead of seed stitch .” I feel the same about the mistake rob cardigans that are around 🙄
I just started the smocky cardigan!!! The smock stitch is what drew me in hahah I am so incredibly intimidated by this project but I know I’m going to love the final project, and it’s actually going to be a gift knit for my mum. Anyway, don’t let the smock stitch deter you! It progresses like a normal cable, it’s not like double knitting where two rows equals one finished row. I was confused when you said you heard it took many rows to make one row of progress heheh I actually find it easier than the kind of cable stitch where you need to rearrange the stitches. Loving your knitting podcasts! Looking forward to your next one already
Oops then I definitely misheard/ misunderstood someone talking about the smock stitch at some point 😂 Good to know it is not as painful as I initially thought! I hope your mom loves her work of art sweater ❤️
I LOVE your idea for the advent knit along, and your whole reasoning for doing a more interesting knit for an advent. I dont have the same skill level as you and am terrified of colorwork but I am currently working on a Marseille Sweater using the Hobbit advent from Skien and the Stitch. I have worked it where it's an all over striped version of the pattern, and I am holding 3 strands. 1 is the NSW fingering of the advent, 2 is isager alpaca 1 in white and 3 is an alpaca silk strand in a mossy green color. It has created a gorgeous fade but with this heather texture as well. Cant wait to finish. I hope to do an Olga sweater with another advent this year and would love to join a little group talking about advents!
Oooh that marled fade sounds soo pretty 😍 Excited to hear you are into the idea of an advent kal!! Will keep you updated on that. The olga jacket will be so good as an advent project! Someone on ravelry made a stripe hype sweater with their advent, and it looks so cool
I recently found your videos and I really enjoy them - thank you for putting all this together and sharing your creativity and ideas! Your project picks are great - I've already been excitedly inspired! And I really relate to your approach. Yes please .... I'd love to hear your non-traditional advent ideas! And also would enjoy joining an advent group.
Aw thank you so much for watching! I feel like I have a million possible advent ideas floating around in my brain, so am glad to hear there is interest in a video all about them as well as an informal kal 🤭
I really like the Siri Cardigan, Haraboji Cardigan, and Smocky Cardigan. 🧶The Baby Bear Knit Hoodie is so adorable! I am knitting the Seven Sisters Top right now.
Oooh, all those cabled sweaters look great. I love a classic aran sweater with lots of texture in an undyed cream wool. But after my current project (an oversized raglan cardigan in dark purple) I have my eye on the Helices sweater by Kayen-itee on Ravelry. I've been wanting to knit a circular yoke pullover with a decorative stitch pattern for a while, and the Helices combines my desire for that with my affection for cables.
Wow-- thank you for sharing that pattern!! It was not on my radar before. I love the big, bold cables in the design. It will be such a striking winter piece! Hope you enjoy knitting it if it does end up being your next project 🤗
currently working on my first colorwork sweater while watching this!! ALSO the tulip loop sweater (not the rollneck) by other loops reminds me so much of the ballard pullover by sari nordlund. BUT i love the detail of the rollneck on the tulip loop so i ~may~ knit that for myself as well :) love your video, can't wait to see what you end up creating!
I just saw another podcaster finish her Ballard sweater, and it looked stunning! But I also love the ultra cozy rollneck on the other loops version. I can't resist an oversized turtleneck come winter ❄️ Also, good luck with your first colorwork sweater!!
Hi, I love your videos! I have been working on the Siri cardigan for the past few weeks and did notice a mistake in the moss stitch back section of the chart. It is a beautiful knit so far but I wanted to point that out if you're considering working on it. I basically just had to adjust by one stitch, but it is a bit annoying!
I’ve been obsessively looking for the perfect cabled cardigan pattern and so I really appreciate your list. I purchased the Berry March cardigan but now you have me rethinking 😅 Also for the pockets, you could hand sew in twill tape to help stabilize it!
You and me both 😂 That one looks so cozy, definitely matches the outerwear vibes of some of the other cardigans. Thank you for the tip about the twill tape! Gonna go give it a google to learn how to do that 😌
Love your picks and colour choices! I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to fidning the perfect cable knit crewneck. I filmed a video going over 10 pattern options, and as I'm editing it I keep discovering more 😭
I've knit the baby bear cardigan multiple times and my gripe is that the hood only is default to 1 size (if it really is the same pattern). The hood is VERY big if knit for the smaller size body. My first was knit for my son before he was born, and we had to fold the edge so that it would not cover his face. Whichever size you knit, I hope you will take a moment to compare any other hooded items maybe your mom is buying to what your WIP so that the fit matches the body.

You get it!! Let's hope we can find a balance between the two this season 🤞🏽 Glad to hear you have been enjoying the recent videos 🥰

A hand knit sweater definitely elevates any outfit!
LOVE knitting baby things! it’s mostly what i work on, i’ve been obsessed with making baby bloomers recently, so fun and easy to work up!
Omg lil' baby bloomers must be so cute!! I'm excited for my first baby knit cause I hope it'll work up quickly & provide a dopamine boost lol

I would LOVE an Advent knit along!!! I’m obsessed seeing everyone’s advents!
Me too!! I am so nosy and love to see them all 😂 I'll def try to sort out the details next month
watching this while literally working on a beatrix cardigan in chocolate brown (gilliatt cacao) hehe
loving all the textured moments
Omg dream yarn and pattern combo!! Hope you love your new cardi 😍

Yes!! Anything with a knit, purl stitch texture is my enemy 🙅♀️

It's hard to narrow them down-- I love all 3! & that top looks like the perf top to lounge around in 😌

I'm also eyeing the smocky cardigan!! but not fully sold yet
Apparently the smock stitch is not as scary as I thought so I am itching closer and closer to the pattern 😂
@@whatsmilimaking it’s not at all!! I tried it when I swatched for Jenny jacket, honestly most of the time you’re just knitting 2x2 ribbing
Love your picks and colour choices! I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to fidning the perfect cable knit crewneck. I filmed a video going over 10 pattern options, and as I'm editing it I keep discovering more 😭
I feel that in my soul 😭 Sometimes having too many good choices is harder than having a few lol

Thank you!! That's honestly so helpful to know cause I have no clue how big a baby hood should be lol
