As someone who shot heroin from the age of 17 to 30, I am glad to say I have been sober for nearly 4 years. This drug is horrible and destroys your family and friends' lives as well. it's a domino effect. Think twice about touching this stuff, it's seriously too good to be true. Even after sobriety, it has still affected my life. My daughter's mother overdosed on the 18th of October 2020. 1 month after my daughter's 3rd birthday. She is now motherless. It is not worth it at all. Stay strong! to all those still suffering from this horrible addiction, reach out and get help. Life is hard being sober but it's not as hard as being an addict.
@@ImranShaikh-lt6mb we both got addicted to heroin at a pretty young. My daughter's mother and I didn't get married, we split up about 6 months after our daughter was born. I got clean and sober and my ex did as well but she relapsed and tried to hide it from all of us. unfortunately, she just did to much one night and died. It's simple as that, this drug is horrible and breaks families apart.
Bro my daughters have cried wanting their mother back but she died from fentanyl and there's nothing I can do to help them it's fucking awful plus she was my best friend I love her so much
I have a lot of admiration for Gaurav for his strength and big heart. He's in recovery and helping many others find their way to community and peace. God bless him
Yes! I agree. Lots of people who have addiction problems all their life (the ones that survive), end up helping others who chose the same path as they did. Imagine being an unfortunate addict who has never had real long term employment, then you get clean half way through your natural life. Realistically you have no real skills to get a conventional job, but the one thing you are an expert in, is recovering from a terrible addiction. That is the only expertise you have, and why not exert that expertise? It's either that, or go back to your addiction, because realistically, you don't have much else to offer, and having a purpose in life, is one of the most important things for a successful recovery.
Yup. This is why I'm still subbed. Along with their pandering woke nonsense and race baiting culture war content they sometimes make a great mini-doc like this.

I started doing drugs years ago as a teenage, got addicted to heroin. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was also diagnosed with cptsd. Heroin addiction actually destroyed my life. Not until my mom recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 3 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health.

@@XRTSDFA You have to really want to quit to get off of it, and most people dont want to because they have no hope for a better life. They think they will be stuck making minimum wage the rest of their life, struggling to pay bills with barely any reason to live. That is why the best way to help opiod addicts is to prescribe them prescription pills like dilaudid. They will never overdose on it, and it will stop them from getting sick. If you have a prescription they wont get high, because you can only get high when your system has nothing in it, but if your brain is saturated you will not get high, only feel like a normal human being. Stronger opioids can get you high no matter how saturated you are, all depends on how good the chemical is at kicking off other opioids from the brain receptors. Anyways, giving addicts prescriptions allows them to have a normal life, you dont have to spend every waking minute scrounging money together and then finding drugs. I personally never did crime, I had a car so I drove people around for money, but tons of addicts rely on it. So thats another bonus, they will stop stealing to make money, crime rate would go way down. So now they are living a normal life, they can get a job, they can feel hope and see that they really can make a good life for them self that they will enjoy. And drugs will start to turn into their last priority, instead of being forced to be the first. Thats another thing, you cant hold a job when your an addict, even if you have a home. If you are sick just one day, you wont make it in and you will lose it. These laws around them and the stigma just push addicts in to the shadows, making them feel like second citizens who were forgotten about, and hated. The only people they interact with are other addicts, and some of them are bad people. It makes people lose their morals, as everyone else is fucking them over. They start to talk and act a certain way, because they need to appear tough so they dont get taken advantage of, it makes them unhireable. So the best solution we have is to prescribe, and treat them as a regular person. The reason why they look so sick and unhealthy is because of the situtation society has forced them in to. Sure there is methadone, it will stop the sickness, but you just feel so tired and sedated on it, will make you want to stay in bed and not do anything. Can cause sleep apnea, and diabetes. Its the worst opiate health wise. Dilaudid is clean and you feel normal and energized, and can only get high if you are sick.
That is something that a lot of people do not and wont understand, heroin isn't a drug you can choose when to stop, it chooses when you stop, you don't have control over it and that's why lives are ruined, you are obviously very strong to have the willpower to go through a rehab center for heroin which probably is the worst thing for your body but you are managing to do it man, good job!
from one heroin addict to another good on you. ive been clean for roughly 4/5 years now. i stuck with methadone (90mls a day) for a long time first then gradually reduced. it gave me the chance to break the cycle and move in new circles. i was homeless on the streets of london for years and had hep c but slowly i got better and got treatment for the hep (im clear now). please dont give up trying and removve yourself from the environment that enables you to use. you will make new friends and life will get better, just give it time and keep making the hard choices. good luck, be strong and believe in a better life for yourself
You got this ! Ill be a year off opiates on the 27th and life has never been better , dont get me wrong its not all sunshine and butterfly's but the worst day being sober still beats the best day ever while high
I’ll be sober 4 years in three weeks. From 04-08 and 09-10 I spent a total of 26 months deployed, first with the 82nd 1st/504th and after with Triple Canopy. In four years of sobriety I’ve buried six times more friends from OD’s than friends I lost in a war. That’s insane.
They're not addicts. They're people with addiction. Sometimes the presence alone of someone being there for someone who has an addiction, is enough for them to stop using. ministry of presence is a real thing.

I was shooting heroin and cocaine at work every day. I lost my job about 10 times. Usually for weeks at a time but my employer would take me back because I was good at my job. I was lucky really. I only knew a couple of others like myself who could work full-time as a heroin addict. Sad sad existence
Yes! One of the best explanation of opioids I have heard. Makes me so sad about lack of treatment there. It's bad enough here in the US. Not to mention the low quality of most treatments. Unless you can pay out of pocket or have amazing insurance, don't expect evidence based treatment! Expect 12 steps and or religion... Both of which you can access in most communities for free!

I've been wondering a lot about legal poppy growth in India recently. They are the only country that still legally harvests opium by scoring the pods of the poppy. Turkey, Spain, Australia do large commercial opium extracts on the dried pods and further refine the alkaloids out of it. How much does their legal production contribute to their illicit heroin market? Thanks for the video vice!
Addiction is very serious issue.. But first people should know that addiction is a disease and not a crime.. addicts are sick and are patients who should not be treated as criminals.. People should help them Get their another chance at life...🙏
I'm from this very state. While I agree that heroin is becoming a big problem but it's not that bad. The problem is the NDPS Act(Narcotics), before 1985 everything was legal in India and then overnight boom.. All drugs were made illegal with punishments ranging 10 to 20 years.. And even life imprisonment. Opium and cannabis were being consumed here from thousand of years. They are implementing the American model here, the war on drugs blah blah. They didn't considered the traditional habits of people. Even Britishers knew this and they registered the opium users and provided them opium from a licensed shop. Now get back to my state. People here consumed cannabis, opium or pharma opiates like codiene n benzos like nitrazepam. The govt. Restriced the sale of codiene syrups.. N the people who used soft opiates like codiene graduated to heroin. Which was starting to take hold here. Private rehabs here are earning shitloads of money.. But they are just money making ventures. No treatment what so ever. The stigma of drug addiction adds fuel to the fire. People refrain from asking help because of the stigma and the thing that people will judge them. People still consider addiction as a moral issue rather than a disease which is so absurd. We need harm reduction, awareness about the pros and cons of addiction. And a proper treatment schedule. Don't shun the addicts, have compassion for them.. It works wonders. Sober people or the people who havnt taken opiates like heroin in their life just can't understand the pain of withdrawals. They keep taunting you about why can't you leave it? Just stop it. But seriously they don't have any idea what it's like to be on the other side. Peace and love. 🙂

Root of the problem is lack of a balanced life. Gaurav hit hard while saying that Addicts are lonely people and addiction makes it more worse as society terms you as junkie. With the advent of internet , social media , Facebook ,tinder ,… everyone is occupied and as well as everyone is lonely too. True that "once opioid has been introduced, you'll need it to enjoy other activities always" not an exact quote but this is for real. If anyone reading this is just starting out on opioids, stop now while you can. It's sad to see we aren't learning from our past. Removing the peddlers aren't going to do any much difference as it would removing the leaf of a plant too stop it from growing. It is true like he said, children see it as something that adds value to their life..

Not starting drugs in the first place is the best choice one will ever make. More people should watch these & know what kind of hardship you'll endure if you choose this road.
I mean with Heroin obviously but there are a lot of people in the world who ended up getting hooked on legal prescription opioids bcz they needed them following surgery or pain that led to a disease diagnosis and then their doctors did not properly supervise or educate them on the potential side effects and consequences of such medications. Now to someone without an addictive personality (lucky that way ig), they're going to take the medication until they're recovered enough from surgery or from a flair up of whatever condition, and then they will stop...generally to where there's still meds left over that sit in a cabinet for some years...and in situations like that, worst case scenario is having to be on them for a period of time so long that your body becomes dependent on them and you have to ween yourself down once you're at the point of no longer needing them for pain. However, when the same situation happens to someone who does have an addictive personality, within a week or two of taking their legally prescribed meds, they are already upping their doses, running out early, now they go seeking somewhere else to find it (or doctor shopping if we're talking prior to 2011 or so), then it becomes too expensive or they can't find it or it doesn't 'work' for them anymore, and next thing you know that person is on Heroin or Fentanyl. Is it still technically a choice for them? Yeahh but it's not really them making that choice if they're already at that point. It's just a really unfortunate situation all around, I also really wish that journalists would make a point to differentiate when talking about street opiates like heroin, fentanyl, carfentanyl, etc. vs. legally prescribed opiates like morphine, dilaudid, oxy, etc. I watched a Nat-Geo Fentanyl documentary yesterday where the lady didn't even know the difference between Oxycodone & Oxycontin nor between medical/hospital grade Fentanyl & Carfentanyl which is fine for me, you, or any other average Joe but if you're a journalist following a Cartel shipment where the whole thing is about Fentanyl, you should probably know what you're talking about. That's why I like Vice, they always do their homework and know their stuff (well enough at least). Also, my bad on how long this comment is...I have a bad tendency to accidentally turn YT & social media comments into mini-essays lol.
Unfortunately addiction for most isn’t a choice. Few people wake up and decide they want to get addicted to heroin. Just like few people decide they want to be an alcoholic. It’s easy to say “don’t take drugs to begin with”, but that’s a bit like saying “don’t drink alcohol to begin with”. That’s not the way humans, nor society work. Almost no one decides to never try beer because of alcoholism, despite everyone knowing the danger.
The idea is to cut to supply to school children who are usually the most affected. But you can't enforce it. Imagine telling Americans that your going to go your whole life without drinking a single drop of alcohol or not smoke a single puff
The reason why these drugs are popular in India is the same as Latin America. People need money but not enough jobs. Tourists introduce these drugs, they also buy and consume. Here comes the needs. India has the places to plant, produce and distribute around Asia. Population to consume, it has the 2nd largest population and some people are getting rich. Also a weak law enforcement system. The police were trying to drive away the drug dealers, but not rooting them out. So the drug dealers will find another place to hide and continue to sell.
India's illegal opium comes from borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan (golden crescent) The main state effected by this is Punjab, but due to anti drugs efforts. The drugs are seeping into adjacent states who facing problems. This opium tactics is also used by British to China through India, and this Strategy is used by Pakistan to handicap future generations of India. This is more of a drugs terrorism going on in India, the money they make selling drugs are being used in terrorism finance in J&K and other states.
Narcotics is also a huge problem in the northeastern states of India, but mostly remains unnoticed. Huge quantities of opioids are still coming into India through the Indo-Myanmar border.

Almost 60% of Himachalis goes to Chandigarh for study....and from them almost 90% become heroine addict due to atmosphere in Punjab. And now almost all district of Himachal is under heroine crisis. My cousin was oppressed by Punjabis to inject himself against his will....but he overcame them , and called home immediately and he never ever returned to Chandigarh. Heroin use is a symptom of deeper problems. And injecting is insane, at the very least switch to snorting and or oral eqipotent versions like oxycodone. If you have heroin, you'll be okay. It's having support that without heroin you'll still be okay is key to getting off it if you can't afford it. And you'll stop if you don't need it anymore. If you really want to stop , and you aren't telling a lie to yourself you'll naturally stop after tapering .
Awesome idea, following the American Way that's worked SO WELL for us for the last 60 years!! We've got 75% imprisoned citizens from drug possession & addi€ti0n/ODs has increased %500+ since our "War on Drugs"!! Excellent work, following such a great example! 👏👏👏
The culture in India is completely different from America. Saying that it didn't work in America so it won't work anywhere else is completely reductive. The other thing is that since India is in the majority an informal economy, illegal activities are common and have been going on for centuries. There has been no enforcement partially because of the size of the population and partially because of police corruption(basically they are in on the drug trade). This is completely different from the American way. The comparison simply does not work. And the scope of addiction is also vastly different from America
Yeah let's make it easier for the drug dealers and users to continue to do business. Great idea. If Indians don't like Western ideas so much, then go solve it yourselves. Oh wait, you think that giving easy access to drugs will help reduce the overdoses. Go for it.
Drug problems are all around the world, USA, AUSTRALIA, MEXICO, india but no media channel will try to expose these deep realities. Great work vice news
Punjab is no longer the drop stop point from Pakistan and Afghanistan, Gujrat ports are now used to import the drugs and then distribute through out India. I'd just like to say, as a person who likes accurate drug information, the terms opioids and opiates are used interchangeably too often. Opioids are synthetic like fentanyl and opiates are organic, or rather originate from the poppy. I'd assume we're talking mostly about legitimate heroin here considering this regions proximity to Afghanistan.
I'm an ex heroin addict I'm still on methadone as a substitute because I'm terrified if I stop taking methadone I will relapse, I don't have the will power at this time in life, I've lost 6 friends to overdose and I doubt that will be the last of them also several people have committed suicide in my area because their friends committed suicide, it makes no sense but increases my temptation, I'm truly 💔 heart broken and trying to get help to cope with the loss but nothing is happening I'm literally waiting on a call from a doctor right now!! I don't know what else to do I don't want to use but the urge is growing.
I guess you failed to realize just how close the Himalayas are to both the Golden Triangle and to Afghanistan, 2 of the places that produce most of the world's opium.

Chitta is brown sugar about 70₹ near flyover roughly one km from Shadipur metro station Delhi. Heroin is much more expensive and purer harder to find and about 500₹ for equivalent to one chitta pouch.

Vice, please come to Manipur and address the opiod and heroin used in my place. We are the drug capital of India plus our geographical plays and important role in these scenario as the infamous Golden triangle lies just adjacent to my place. Here, in Manipur, Every month there is bust of million dollars worth of drugs in my place and every 1-2. Km there is a deaddiction centre. I have studied in 3 different schools and have addicted friends from all three. In Himachal, 1Gram of heroin cost 100 dollar(7500 Ruppes) but here herion is readily available for 6 dollar(500 Ruppes). The problem of Heroin started from 1960s from my father generation to now. Even, other synthetic drugs like WY(world is yours) and fentanyl is flooding the market right now. Here,an alcoholic is considered and idle and well mannered because of the drug issue. The problem now is that the drug have which the Rich have been abusing now become common among the lower section or poorer section because of the abundance availability and cheap rate.I personally know more than 5 dealer and countless peddelers just from my colony.
Yeah but its sad that the state is clamping down even harder on all of this. I have worked in Nagaland, its a lovely state with warm, friendly people but there's so little awareness of what prohibition and unrestrained opioid use is doing to the society there.
People don't realize that We are All addicts in one way or another. Anyone of us can become homeless. And Treat people the way you want yourself or a family member to be treated.
Pretty sure that Himachal's opiate problem, as does its flood damage problem, excess logging problem, originates in the greed of the plains : their greed for forest land, their greed for cheap land which they can develop and rent out for 20-30x their real value, their greed for political control, their greed for annexing the massive earnings from tourist traps after pushing the locals out or suborning them into temporarily hired employees ( thru impoverishment that comes from drug abuse, environmental catastrophe, climate change ). Its a diffuse strategy, a numbers game, not specific to community or any target population within a geographical region. That is the grisly "beauty" of this chakravyuh of devilish attacks.
I think there is confusion here…. Chita (white) heroin can be synthetic such as fentanyl but the Chita they talking about is probably heroin number 4 which is the purest form of heroin and is normally white and not brown heroin which is base and the most common in U.K. Brown heroin is refined further to make white heroin also known as heroin number 4 and the purest and most dangerous form.
Smack and opium is destroying both himanchal and Uttarakhand right now and the funny part is this business cannot be run without support of government and authorities.
Most drug addicts are attempting to escape despair in myriad forms. It's much easier to do drugs than it is to suffer every minute of every day. I don't know that there is a way to ever stop drug addictions as immense suffering will always exist for some in every place.
Just being in Hiamchal makes me smile and the place that has this kind of effect on you.... What else could that place be if not heaven itself? I think one root cause of this opioid problem can be criminalization of cannabis. Since both opioids and cannabis are illegal, they both come through the same channels. The guy who sells weed also has the chitta and the herb is being used as a gateway drug to later get you hooked up with the powder. My 2 cents on this will be to do some research on it and legalize cannabis so that the ways to get these two can be seperated. Which, eventually will lead to less people being exposed to opioids and make the situation a little better. Maybe. But who cares, this comment will just get lost somewhere in the sea of comments on UA-cam. Peace ✌️ PS: I smoke but that's not the only reason why I go to Himachal. I love the treks too and I'd still go to Himachal even if it didn't have the best hash.

I really liked this because it’s on an issue I’ve always found interesting, that is opioid use across the globe. One thing I didn’t understand is, what’s is this “synthetic heroin” the author describes? Is it fentanyl? Or fentanyl related analogues? Heroin by its very chemical nature is a semi-synthetic opioid produced from naturally occurring morphine and acetic anhydride. So, it is “synthetic” so to say, but also natural; thus, my question is, is fentanyl, commonly produced in places like India and China, possibly leaking into their natural supply of semi-synthetic heroin? Precursors to fentanyl are also commonly produced in Chinese and Indian labs, chemicals like 4-ANPP, which makes the possibility high. Although one can overdose on heroin, what my country has demonstrated, is it’s much more common for someone to overdose on “fully synthetic” opioids like fentanyl and it’s analogues.
Synthetic heroine is 30% heroine and 70% of other chemicals like petroleum , chalk powder that make it cheaper than heroine but it is more addictive and dangerous than heroine
Im a white guy who lived near Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj as a kid, and I miss the expansive forests and the kind people and the delicious food. It truly is sad to see that they have to deal with an Opioid crisis now knowing it is ruining so many lives. Please stick to natures medicine that is weed!
Or if someone is a chronic pain patient or has Cancer and weed isn't working well enough to control pain, I don't see why they couldn't/wouldn't just smoke straight up Opium instead of getting on something that is man-made yet still derived from Opium, which while still being physically addictive if consumed too often, is hands down a better alternative to things like Dilaudid, Oxy, let alone Heroin.
The USA literally allowed Perdue to say that oxycontin was less addictive than marijuana. Now the whole world is addicted and Purdue are getting away with paying a fine.
They should be thankful that at least it is actual Heroin, and not Fentanyl. I was an addict for 16 years, and knew 2 people who ODed on actual Heroin (came out of rehab with no tolerance, and tried to use the same dosage), and I've probably personally known about 60 people who have ODed on Fentanyl, with the majority of people who had no idea that their supply was contaminated with such a strong substance. Fentanyl is a much bigger monster than Herion.
I live near Dharmshala and I have seen many youngsters taking this now a days and I want to solve this in whole Himachal. Two of my cousins were taking it and I was afraid that i might loose them to this nasty drug. 🙏

Yes!

What was the reason he was using herion? to fit in or to cope with life?

I live in the states and I lost my oldest brother to a heroin overdose in 2008..when he was found his hand was still in a fist from shooting up.
In 2018 my best friend's son overdosed in my bathroom and died. I found him the next morning. It was 3 days from his 25th birthday. It's a problem here in the US as well. But recently, I've noticed a shift with heroin addicts switching to Fentanyl. I swear that stuff is even worse. And easier to make. It's heartbreaking. 😥
The addicts didn't switch - the dealers did
Trust me we don't like fentanyl we prefer real H but here in America finding real heroin is nearly impossible everything is fent
@@CodyTheGraveDigger-xy9bc i never saw someone OD and actually die til fentanyl replaced the drug supply in the US. Obviously a conspiracy to kill all addicts
Like Cody said we didn't switch the dealers did. I'm a fentanyl addict in the US (3 months clean now) and since I'm 20 years old I never even got to experience real heroin all we can find on the streets these days is fetty
Nobody is aiming to get fentanyl, just about every pill on the street and heroin is usually filled with fentanyl because it’s cheap strong and there’s a ton of profit. People are dying because our government restricted access and gave everything to the black market knowing the demand wasn’t gonna change but get worse and now we have people dying way more than ever.
Root of the problem is lack of a balanced life. Gaurav hit hard while saying that Addicts are lonely people and addiction makes it more worse as society terms you as junkie. But if society don’t work on it ,it will spread like fire from your neighbors house ,so no one will be spared if we just term it “not my problem” . With the advent of internet , social media , Facebook ,tinder ,… everyone is occupied and as well as everyone is lonely too. The real connections are replaced by a UA-cam algorithm which is feeding you videos of your choice, like a friend would do . But in the end you brain is being bombarded with so many things that in real life only alcohol and drugs give you same stimulation . For other they have personal issues …drugs makes it easy to forget them for some moments . Drugs give a high to forget all problems for some instant….
True that "once opioid has been introduced, you'll need it to enjoy other activities always" not an exact quote but this is for real. If anyone reading this is just starting out on opioids, stop now while you can. It's such a smooth great feeling (if you have a way to support your habit everyday, which is a whole other discussion and way of ruining your life , cause your pretty focused on that) will result in a free-fall to death or jail if you don't stop while you can. Opioid addict of 14 years I'd say I've been semi-sober for 5 years. I use Kratom on bad days when my pain is to great, I have issues with my joints hands, back. But kratom and otc meds work.fine and if u already out your use way better alternative even though JUST AS ADDICTING USE CAUTION, USE YOUR BRAIN. Educate YOURSELF in what you are permanently depending on method of administration putting in your body. Please be safe love you all, peace be with you ✌️
One last edit: you can do it you can overcome that demon. One step at a time don't attack the whole problem at once take care of the small parts that you can manage first like slowly reducing dosage, surrounding yourself with different people, places, activities. Anything opioid when used correctly are an Angel. But when used incorrectly I truly believe you trade your soul after a certain point at least for a time.. just be smart so research test for quality I bet even way out there you can get free test kits even though i bet it's way .ore pure their than it is here at least you'll be confirming use the cleanest method. The least invasive anything. Sorry I'm blabbing but this town can be saved. If handled with care and not force. They need to offer help to the addicts not lock them up. Offer them intense rehab with CBT integration Cognitive Behavior Therapy is one of the best things I think for a person who is an addict but someone who could have a million different problems, anxiety, depression etc. Look into CBT and DBT for treatment options
As a former heroin addict who almost lost my arm from a huge abscess I had to have surgery and it was a long process I have a huge scar going up my arm but I’m thankful to be alive
It's sad to see we aren't learning from our past. Removing the peddlers aren't going to do any much difference as it would removing the leaf of a plant too stop it from growing. The main problem has to be with users not being able to fight by themselves. We need to give them drug reforms and educate the public regarding this. It is true like he said, children see it as something that adds value to their life..
Have you ever been addicted to opiates people fight every day the withdrawals last so long that people just give in to feel better. But yes your right they need to educate the youth not to use it because once you get hooked it will be with you the rest of your life.
@@kenseymour5152 the withdrawals I have experienced were horrific. I wanted to die... I agree with you. Education is key...
I think we shouldn't seclude the users. if we deprive them of any love and harmony in their lifes, they have one more reason to stay hooked on heroin.
@@YellowPenetrator the 2 reasons i got off heroin: 1) maintenance therapy - replacing heroin with subutex and reduced gradually at my own pace and 2) my mum and dad had my back, my dad tried tough love by locking me out of the house only for my mum to get a call from the hospital after i had been found Overdosing on the start of a bridge, its kind've ironic in a way, if i had made it to that bridge fully, i would've jumped off it, so heroin tried to kill me but saved me in a fucked up way. My dad, when he realized finally that those were the only 2 options in my head: heroin or suicide, he started to actually take it seriously and go with my mum to meet my Dr's. Because of these hardships, our core family unit became much stronger, we find ourselves now more open and able to actually talk about problems that would've never been discussed before
Yes, the main problem faced by recovering addict is loniness. Please don't hate them, all they need is a love and support.
The issue of the reward system with uses yes is jeopardized. But it's more the intense withdrawals coming off heroin that keep them in a usage loop..
Really missed this type of Vice keep it up man love the content
Yeah remember kids drugs will melt ur brain
It's a place where cannabis grows wild and has been part of the culture since forever.
This is the vice I remember. Beautiful video, so sad that so many lives are being destroyed by this addiction..
They need jobs to make a living… Otherwise the citizens are in despair and want to take drugs to escape
Countries have grown opium for centuries … doubtful tourists introduced it
India's illegal opium comes from borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan (golden crescent) The main state effected by this is Punjab, but due to anti drugs efforts.
Well said 👏. Plenty of places to grow opiates + Poverty = Tragedy.
Tourists did not introduce drugs to the himalayas.
Cannabis grows wild and gangster sell Indians drugs. Profit margin is too low for a tourist.
Narcotics is also a huge problem in the northeastern states of India, but mostly remains unnoticed. Huge quantities of opioids are still coming into India through the Indo-Myanmar border.

I travelled around India a lot in the late 1990s and Himachal was the only place I was offered heroin as a tourist (in Kullu). I was really surprised, charas was quite widely available there but heroin was very taboo, good to see people talking openly about it now.
Come to Jharkhand too this time ..
Sad to see that drug getting more popular, my uncle and his daughter both died from heroin overdose.i myself was addicted to morphine.it was not east to stop using it.i been clean eight years now.my heart goes out to all those caught up in this evil drug's grasp, praying for them to be strong to walk away from it.
Me and my brother went there in 2019, the hotel owner and his staff were high all the time, soon we realized getting high was actually pretty normal among youths there
This documentary only blamed other state instead of taking responsibility. Himachal is notorious for its drug use since last 4 decades. Foreigners come here because drugs are easily available here. Blaming other state is hilarious.
Im clean for 3years after addiction of 12year and still living in depression and several more health issue
But i can say this life is far better than past once
Using an economic approach for a social issue will never work, as we've seen in the U.S. trying to cut off the supply only fuels demand further
yes. and blaming addicts for their disease and secluding them only gives them more reasons to stay hooked.
Heroin makes all your problems disappear and makes you feel warm and safe. Unfortunately it is short lived and has become far to dangerous. I am very happy to have stayed away from it for a number of years yet I still think about it every single day.

And also the main thing is the user become peddler himself after some time because in Himachal it's not easily available....so to make up the demand they themself indulge in smuggling.

I hate the description of the place as “Switzerland of India” why make the West the point of reference of everything? Why can’t it be beautiful on its own in its own right?
Because comparison makes it relatable for people outside of India
@@user-xo3jw3hc6d There are visuals though so it’s a useless comparison. I would understand when you speak to some one in the streets because you have no visuals to offer.
This is a American show and the majority of the audience knows Switzerland more than they know this place. When it comes to great storytelling, it’s important to make the content relatable.
@@visualizeflow8450 There are visuals though, anyone seeing it can tell it’s not a tropical jungle but a temperate climate. Still no point in making the comparison when the visuals are there. Also, Russia, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey all have very similar environments so it doesn’t make sense to relate it to Europe to give it “value” for Western consumers.
@@td2926 you just want something to complain about. Vice is a western company silly.
The prohibition is the root of all the damn problems .
Bro it was america. The then PM Rajeev Gandhi fell to the pressure of War on Drugs and formulated NDPS Act 1985 I believe
Yeah let's make it easier for the drug dealers and users to continue to do business. Great idea. If Indians don't like Western ideas so much, then go solve it yourselves. Oh wait, you think that giving easy access to drugs will help reduce the overdoses. Go for it.
The “War on Drugs” in America has been a massive failure. Prohibition never the answer
Evidence shows recent seizers of thousands of kilograms of Heroin. Question rises why BJP letting it happen? Ports are now owned by world's 3rd richest man in the world. Mr. Adani!
The thing is all politicians are on it. We live in a corrupt country. Sadly riches are the ones who are bringing these here

I'd just like to say, as a person who likes accurate drug information, the terms opioids and opiates are used interchangeably too often.
Opioids are synthetic like fentanyl and opiates are organic, or rather originate from the poppy. I'd assume we're talking mostly about legitimate heroin here considering this regions proximity to Afghanistan.
but isn't heroin half synthetic half natural?

Heroin is a choice before it becomes a addiction
I think there is confusion here…. Chita (white) heroin can be synthetic such as fentanyl but the Chita they talking about is probably heroin number 4 which is the purest form of heroin and is normally white and not brown heroin which is base and the most common in U.K. Brown heroin is refined further to make white heroin also known as heroin number 4 and the purest and most dangerous form.
Smack and opium is destroying both himanchal and Uttarakhand right now and the funny part is this business cannot be run without support of government and authorities.
10:35 what a gorgeous house my goodness.
Most drug addicts are attempting to escape despair in myriad forms. It's much easier to do drugs than it is to suffer every minute of every day. I don't know that there is a way to ever stop drug addictions as immense suffering will always exist for some in every place.
Yes and a large portion is about dealing with adverse childhood experiences and childhood traumas.
Stay clean Brothers, addiction is like a devil inside us, it kills us slowly takes away everything almost, too bad, isolation horrors. Blessings
Peace ✌️

It so messed up to see such a nice place being ruined by drugs..I hope that IPS officer catches more of these drug peddlers.
The USA literally allowed Perdue to say that oxycontin was less addictive than marijuana. Now the whole world is addicted and Purdue are getting away with paying a fine.
I've heard.... fentanyl and carfentanyl are getting common in usa.... that's scaryyyy...😨😰
The Sacklers should be executed.
