I remember first hearing about goth back in 4th grade from South Park from that one episode where the goth kids made their debut, I searched more about Gothic culture from books and got into bands like Souixie and the banshees afterwards, liked this video, also you look really nice in the attires you used in the vid 😊
That was great! Very complete summary of the many genres in goth music. For anyone interested I'd like to add a couple more that I think are also worth mentioning: Psychobilly and Horror Punk. They are a bit more upbeat and fun but still dark and horror inspired.
Ayyyy duffy is back! Its great to see another feature length video! The tiktok style shorts are funny but these are why i subbed. Hope to see more full length videos soon!
Nice list. Goth was never among my favorite genres of music, but for someone getting into punk and metal in the mid/late 80's, (yeah, I'm 50 years old), I do recognize a lot of the songs and the bands you mentioned. A lot of classics I either heard on the radio, at friends, at parties, or clubs. Great list. Please continue with the genres you mentioned at the end.
Wow! You have researched the history of rock music (in this case, gothic music) very well! Of course it's ok that there are these special genre names like gothic rock, dark wave, etc. But I never see it as too small-minded, because there are always bands that you can't classify exactly because their sound combines several genres. But a very good and informative video !!!👍
0:20 It's cool how that existed but no one acknowledged it. I also like how Goth lore started out music wise and the Vikings or however long that goes back to but anyways yeah I like how Emo lore started out as a music thing too besides that all getting mixed up and changed till today for some people it's just really weird now when you ask certain people that don't know some type of form of it rather it really mattered to them or not.
I always wish I could have been born in the late 50's - early 60's so that I could have experienced the amazing transition and ever forming music and culture in the late 60's and onward. So many bands I would have loved to see live in their heyday.
Fuck yeah, never knew CMJK had a little sister, let alone metal fan. The cherry on top, she actually knows her shit, did her homework not bad not bad. Congratulations you have single handedly raised the bar for posers worldwide. (Proceeds to pad your head) ❤
Please do more on the music! I just wish I could recommend more newer goth music. Latest release I can think of comes from Lila Ehjä, The KVB and Aural Vampire but I know there has to be a lot more goth getting released outside of the bands I am paying attention to.
Twin Tribes, Forever Grey, WingTips, Ash Code, Lebanon Hanover, SRSQ, Boy Harsher, Male Tears, Actors, Scary Black, Vision Video Band, The Ghost of Bela Lugosi, DARK the Band.
Well, that's probably the first time I've heard the name "Switchblade Symphony" for probably 20 years. My brother got to see them a few times but I was a bit too young at the time. I did manage to catch Faith and the Muse and... God damn it, I was, like, 10 at the time, I think, so I can't remember who the balls else was there... I think it _might_ have been Front Line Assembly...? I know I saw The Crüxshadows around that time, also, but I can't remember if that was the same show... Christian Death is also one of my favorite bands from back in the day. The Valor one, specifically. Not the Rozz one. He was a bit of a wanker. I don't think I saw Rosetta Stone in there anywhere, though, so I'd definitely recommend checking them out. Adrenaline would probably be a good place to start. A few Japanese bands in a roughly similar vein that are also neat: Buck-Tick Velvet Eden Malice Mizer Schwartz Stein
Thanks so much for sharing ur experience when you were in the scene!! Lucky you that you saw them when you were young :D Also thank you for the band recommends ill check them out 💗‼️🙏
Amazing video as always! If you want some coldwave/deathrock check out the album "Nowa Aleksandria" from the polish band Siekiera. One of the best ones in the genre.
13:08 I think it's cool personally but no one actually likes to acknowledge cyber/techno goths because they think it's cringe and not a real thing sadly. Edit: 13:38 I LOVE THEM 🤩😍🤗👌👌👌
@@Sumoniggro Umm no sorry but their is a clear difference but I get what you're saying as some that are "Goth" but don't usually call themselves that simply just hate labels and labeling like I do too but still you should be able to spot the difference but whatever. I love this video so much 😭🙏

It's great you're back with another longer video! I know short form content is popular these days but it just doesn't sit well with me personally.
