@armourdetailsupply If you could make a 32oz bottle for £20 in the UK then that would be able to compete with Carpro Wheelx 1000ml for £20 from Slims detailing. Many other brands good here are around £20 for a 1000ml . Unfortunately it's too expensive per unit price/ bottle size in a 16oz.
Great review. I saw that Carpro released WheelX recently and I have been looking for a review. This was a great test and appreciated your honest impressions. Recently subscribed and really enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Great comparison from some of the biggest heavy hitters. Funny to think CarPro never had a dedicated wheel cleaner until now. Looks like a solid choice as you'd expect from CarPro. Like you, I've been very impressed with ADS Wheel Cleaner and the fact it's pH balanced should make it safe for all wheel types. I have a gallon the original version of ADS which does have more of the typical iron remover smell so nice to see that their revision has improved that and Bradley and DJ made an already great product even better. Thanks again for the effort in bringing us another quality video demonstrating some of the new to market products. Your new rims on the X5 look killer!
Oh man! I think you are fast becoming one of my go to channels ATM. Thank you so much for this test, I reached out to you when you were a Sema about Wheelx had just been launched and to compare Gyeon vs Carpro. You can see straight away that Carpro and ADS seem to get to work the fastest. Carpro turned red within 6 seconds and ADS was about the same. ADS looks like it has some kind of APC/ surfactant that the foam hid the iron remover underneath- I like that its low odour and clings well. Carpro has some foaming cling too but goes into a deeper rich red instantly- both look like they're going to work. Gyeon seems to be a bit weaker, didn't flash red hardly at all- seems a bit disappointing to what I expected. Koch Kemie is ok. I'm not much of a Koch fan, Classic German products, its expensive and there are better products available- typical German engineering. The Gyeon is supposed to smell like Bananas? Which one is more lubricating? as I would use it with a Mitt and I feel reducing the marring is an important aspect to me. I'm in the market for a new wheel cleaner, I've use Adams- too aggressive, but watered down is ok. P&S brake buster is nice at 1:5 for light weekly duties. The old version of Gyeon iron wheel is my current go to as its lubricious, Flashes red ok and and leaves a nicer clean surface, but its running out hence the interest. I like that Carpro do a Litre bottle as I'll hurl it on. I imagine ADS only do 16oz and a gallon without a Litre sized bottle.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you're enjoying the content! ADS was my preferred option. It topped carpro due to the smell. Gyeon I'm not sure smells like bananas, the iron redefined does smell like bananas but not the wheel cleaner. Once it's atomized the gyeon doesn't really smell though. Smelling straight is not recommended haha. I was surprised I didn't get purple from KCX. I didn't actually use the mitt after the test I just sprayed it with Labo primus 2.0 since I washed the car with that. I will have to test the lubricity but I don't think any of these are every wash products. I use brake buster straight in the foam cannon. The cannon dilutes it so much it's not that strong plus it's super cheap ( I have a 5 gallon). Yes, ADS does a 16oz and gallon but I'll buy the gallon to save $$.
@FineDetailingAZ I'd love to buy ADS wheel cleaner buy its same price as Wheelx, BUT! It's less then half the amount! Making ADS not a cost effective product for me and everyone in the UK unless you really really want it! £19 for ADS in a 460ml something bottle OR 1000ml for £20 for Wheelx- I think I could put up with the smell for more than double the amount for a very similar price 🤔
@FineDetailingAZ It's £70 for the gallon. So, breaking that price into £ per Litre or 1000ml is about £18.49. (£70÷ 3.785412Litres(1 US Gallon)= £18.49204/ £ per Litre) which does work out to be around the right price point= but you really have to like it to buy a US gallon. You could always bite the bullet and pay over the odds for the 16oz to try first. But it's like 50/50 in decision making when Wheelx is £20 for the Litre bottle. Lifes hard 😆. If you feel like it's worth it over Wheelx then I'll buy some haha
Haha nice! Yeah their beast wheel cleaner is good too but full effect does great for me and I even dilute it 1:1 for general use and full strength when needed. It also doesn’t smell bad.
Awesome test! Was wondering how the wheel X was going to do. I tried ADS wheel cleaner today. I liked it. Cleaned really well to me. But really enjoyed the demonstrations of them. Also was curious about gyeons, glad you showed me to get that one lol. Thanks again Ryan much appreciated!!!
Nice reviews on these wheel cleaners. I ordered Carpro WheelX when it released and used it today. Man, that thing is very powerful. Smells like weed and iron remover mixed together. Might be my go-to now.
Great comparison on some of the more popular iron removing wheel cleaners. The all did pretty good overall for touchless application. The Magic Wheel Cleaner looked like it did the best overall, but your reaction to the scent was comical. You could definitely immediately tell it must have really smelled bad by your reaction. I absolutely hate those wheel cleaners or any of the products that have that rotten egg smell. I do NOT like using those at all. The Armour Detail Supply one looked like it had the strongest reaction (turning purple). It is interesting that Armour got their formula right and it doesn't have too much of a smell, or it's just masked the best. You would think that if Armour got it right, the other big boys could certainly get it right. ?? They need to get with Armour and take inspiration from them! I wonder if Armour is using the same technology as Stoner (who have that new iron wheel remover without the scent)? I wonder if Stoner makes it for Armour which is why Armour doesn't have the smell? Who knows. But I steer towards products without the rotten egg smell. No one on the planet likes that smell. I give Stoner credit, at least they came up with a formula without the rotten egg smell. Even if it uses a different chemical than the rest of them, and even if it works a little less effectively, that's fine with me to avoid that rotten egg smell that permeates everything within a mile of it! Clothing, fabrics, skin, whatever. It's one of the most horrible smells not only in detailing, but EVER! Awful. Awful. Awful. Stoner should get the detailing product of the year award for coming up with an alternate product that may work a little differently, but at least gets you to the same end result! I wonder how the CRYSTAL WASH by P&S would work? It's marketed as a contaminant remover similar to an iron remover. Happy detailing ALL!
@@joevanseeters2873 thanks for watching. ADS blends their own chemicals so I don’t believe stoner makes it for them. The scent is actually very pleasant. I’ve heard the stoners while it has no scent can stain concrete so they also just released a no scent and no color changing iron remover. You’ll have to trust that it works because there won’t be any visual indicators
I bought this the day it released and have used it twice. In all fairness I used it on wheels with no pre rinse the first time, and the second time was about an hour later after I drove in the rain. Both times it left dirt behind. Much less the second. And both times better than any other touchless approach I’ve ever seen. I can get by if it’s not terribly dirty and I want a quick wash. Otherwise it still needs a scrubbing. I will also add I have BMW M wheels that dust HEAVILY and one of the most complex wheel design with hard to reach spots that collect dirt. Also, it left like a traffic film behind. Probably why you got black when you rubbed.
@@NoirSavant good to know I have a BMW as wheel so we’ll see how it goes. Agreed scrubbing is always needed but it’s good for a quick 80% clean from my experience
My biggest problem with all these cleaners is not how well they clean but that you need to use more than half a bottle for 4 wheels. Very expensive exercise
@@michaelmarchei8539 thanks for watching! To be fair I did over apply because I wanted to see if they would be totally touchless. I do agree I prefer products that I can dilute.
@@michaelmarchei8539 i have 5l of sonax felgenreiniger +. Lasts me over a year and I clean my car regularly. A good trigger sprayer is key. 💪 max 200ml for 4wheels. You don't need this kind of wheel cleaner on every wash.
It's interesting to see you cough when using the cleaner, I coughed too when I used ADS wheel cleaner. It cleaned well, but it's not very economical. I used almost half of the bottle for cleaning my SUV. I think they're strong chemicals for caked up wheels, but for regular maintenance, they're probably overkills.
See thats odd because the ADS didn't make me cough...it actually smells good they use a Squash scent. I agree these aren't every wash type products. I like maintenance product in between like brake buster or ADS tire cleaner 4:1.
Just finished my initial testing of Plum wheel cleaner by AMMO. Great results however Larry doesn’t offer Plum in Gallon sizes which is a huge let down. I’m circling back to Sonax wheel cleaner great results and I can purchase in Gallon Sizes. Great review 👍
Great and fair review. 👍 Yeah .. when washing anything, agitation is the only way to completely clean... especially wheels or machinery. it's a no brainer as well because the amount of chemical saved by applying much less then agitating softly and quickly will do a better job than any touchless. sometimes adding an extra step will be quicker in the long run over going back to wipe wheels or surfaces again pointlessly because you didn't earlier in the process.
@@FineDetailingAZ Adams “wheel cleaner” has iron remover in it, but their “wheel & tire cleaner “ which is what they are known for does not, it’s like a ph of 13 I believe, one of the strongest “wheel & tire combo cleaners” out there and it foams up out of a regular trigger sprayer better then any others imo
@@jayd6068 thanks so much! Yeah they do claim that but Carpro says it’s safe on thier coatings but safe to assume it’s good for others. The Carpro one also claims to strip old sealants too
I can see the Carpro Wheel X started reacting immediately. I normally use Kcx MWC, and that needs at least 30sec - 1min to starring reacting, and "bleeding". I really like MWC it's really good. I ordered Wheel X, ADS Wheel Cleaner, New Gyeon Iron Wheel Cleaner and maniac line by mafra wheel cleaner a few days ago. I'm looking forward to trying them both as well. I usually spray on the cleaner, allow it to dwell then rinse off, followed by Brake Buster in the foam cannon, and as the contact wash (I have powder coated wheels so take the extra snow foam step as a precaution to minimise the risk of scratches).
@@tj1470 carpro was quick and so was ADS. ADS is my number one for sure. Maniac I’m still playing with though it doesn’t have iron but it does smell good. Brake buster for contact is solid as it’s great lubricity. Cant go wrong either way. My top two are ADS and CARPRO for specific wheel cleaners
@@FineDetailingAZ I look forward to trying them both. What smells the least? Even when detailing outside, MWC is very strong and can hit the chest a bit. I'm only trying Maniac Line because of Rick. I've not really heard anyone else mention the brand.
Maniac is great no odor but if you want one with iron remover in it Armour Detail supply is the best. It smells like Squash. I have it linked in the bio. FD10 will save ya 10% if you want to try.
Love the reviews. One thing I do think should be noted: I know you pulled some black onto the towel of each, but did any of the wheels look clean to the eye? I.e. they may not be a true touchless wash to get 100% clean but could it pass as one for a quick maintenance wash?
@@Kw1h certainly could pass for a quick wash. I could still see visible brake dust though it may not have shown up on camera but if you needed to move quick this would be a great option. I even said wow in the video for how much better they looked. Fair call out.
I am surprised it didn’t show more indication of iron removal. But I also always agitate as well. I think you did a good test which was super thorough.
Great video…I can watch wheel and tire cleaning all day-carpros retyre is a banger product…now with its wheel cleaner this duo just might compete with ADS
How do these product compared to P&S Brake Buster which is one of the most popular wheel cleaner? The main differences would be all these are more iron remover where P&S is not.
I'd never do a touchless "clean"-ing because it's never going to even come close to what real cleaning by hand is going to do. But I am wondering if WheelX is better to use than P&S Brake Buster when used with a hand-pumped foam sprayer and washed by hand.
@@Scyths1 I didn’t try it in foam sprayer because the spray head it comes with atomized quite well and the foamer uses too much product. Brake buster is fine in the foamer because it’s so cheap. Wheelx cleans much better then brake buster. I only use brake buster for maintenance washes and light duty cleaning.
Love car pro so looking forward to trying wheel X, I like that it foams up right out of the trigger opposed to regular Iron X which doesn’t. I agree that ADS makes a killer wheel cleaner, Ethos Wheel Cleaner+ is another good iron removing wheel cleaner that clings really well, I used ethos wheel cleaner + a lot this summer because I ordered a gallon of their regular wheel & tire cleaner and they accidentally sent me the wheel cleaner + so I just kept it cause I already knew I liked it from trying a 16 oz….Labo Sidero & Maniac Line Iron Remover are both really good, as far as regular Alkaline wheel cleaners I’ve been using dark fury a lot lately I bought a gallon, it cleans both wheels & tires really well I recommend putting it in a foamer or atleast a regular pump sprayer, maniac line wheel & Tyre is 1 of my favorites to put in a foamer I know you’ve tried that already, Adams wheel & tire, ethos total wheel & tire cleaner, alchemist brimstone wheel & tire cleaner & brake buster are all good options
@ me too even at 3:1 Sidero works well, Maniac Line Iron Remover can be diluted 1:1, have you tried maniac lines? They call it just “iron remover” but it was designed to be a wheel cleaner it has surfactants in it and it foams/atomizes really well and clings, if you look on their website it says “2 in 1 Cleans & Decontaminates” Phenomenal product I went thru a liter and just got another bottle this week….haven’t decided which I like better maniac line or Sidero obviously they are both made by Mafra so they have some similarities just like Primus 2.0 & Maniac Line Pre Wash are similar
Are you able to dilute wheelx to make it more economical? Don’t need it for contactless and I’m used to using meguiars ultimate all wheel cleaner so I imagine wheelx will be much stronger then I’m used to already, so if I can dilute wheelx to last longer, whilst still being stronger then the meguiars wheel cleaner I’m used to, then this might be the new product for my arsenal
@@jamesgent5897 thanks for watching. Per Carpro FAQ: If you dilute it, you will reduce its strength and effectiveness. It is made as a ready to use product.
@@jamesgent5897 could keep it on hand for the really dirty jobs and use this as a first step spray all the wheels then rinse then go in for contact wash. If you want an awesome wheel and tire cleaner Koch Chemie AWH is dilutable and amazing. No iron remover though
Oooh nooooo I had such high hopes for touchless technology to kick a goal 😢. I'm going to try Carpro anyway cos my wheels are pretty clean most of the time, excellent video 😊
Thank you for watching! I gave the feedback that they should remove "no scrubbing required." Outside of that the product does work extremely well. From how dirty they were to after I was impressed.
@@FineDetailingAZ It sounds good if your wheels are reasonably well maintained, say during Summer, and I think it's going to save scrubbing them each time you wash them, that's pretty good!
@@claudiadavies5110 totally agree this product will be great to save on a lot of work. It will get you 85% of the way there then you can finish with a soap or break buster or something
Brake dust and road dust bond similarly but what was there before? Were the rims treated with ceramic coating? Was it a spay wax? I see people face these cleaning products with just a squirt and rinse expectation. Stripping off the old coating? If it leaves dirt behind then the old sealants are still there? A cool video would be how these products work with different coatings. Will it matter? Black wheels on my Truck as well as the Mustang Take the longest to clean as they have so many places to agitate around. Will a different pressure washer tip matter? I use the turbo nozzle with a 1800 psi pressure washer. We all would love to find the perfect combo for the touch-less cleaner (but better agitation means) Arthritis demands less touch as you get older.
The wheels were not coated with anything. They were covered in brake dust and dirt. I don't pressure above 1000psi on cars. Turbo nozzles can damage paint. Coated wheels are always easier to clean but there are so many different variables. These are a good first step to brake down most of the brake dust and grime then going in for a contact wash is preferred.
@@FineDetailingAZ I just spent 4 hours on a Jeep Compass that sits next to a highway while the owner works a 10 hour shift. so much gets on the top of the vehicle's paint the wheels seem like the easier task. I keep the turbo nozzle back away far enough not to harm the paint. Combined with the right cleaner it is as close to a touch-less wash as I have got.
I will have to try that against Dura-Coating Wheely clean because it eats all and gets wheels clean really fast. From what I see now, scent is bad and from all products I have tried the one from Dura-Coating does the best for now. Still haven't tried that one from ADS.
@@ryanbehrmann3453 for maintenance I like Armour detail supply tire cleaner 4:1, brake buster straight in a foam cannon and I’ve been enjoying maniac wheel and tire cleaner.
@@kevinforman251 thanks for watching! I purposely used wheel cleaners that have iron remover in them. I try to compare similar products wherever possible!
Great comparison, would like to see this test again against BMW performance brake pad dust, it is difficult to remove from coated wheels, even with MWC. My wheel look that dirty after just a day or 2.
@@michaelhalstead64 you saw those did you?? They are brand new just had them put on! You’ll see them in future videos. I ceramic costed them so I’ll get that video out soon. Yes, they are copper/bronze
Touchless. Not there yet. I'm not surprised WheelX is as strong as it is. IronX was the strongest iron remover on the market. It had that highest active ingredient 25 - < 30 % of ammonium mercaptoacetate. Carpro is expensive, but they don't make junk. The problem is, like you mentioned, there are too many other good ones that are cheaper.
@FineDetailingAZ although my ADS Quartz Coating was applied Oct 6th, so it's new, I've got about 3 stacks of ADS Ceramic Spray Sealant on it and I think the beading was taken to 11, same for the self cleaning, it continues to amaze me and I'm VERY confident it will laugh at the snow and ice this winter📣
Man I love CarPro they couldn’t have come out with a product that could fire me up more than this. The unfortunate thing is that making claims like being “Touchless” allows room for people to be disappointed no matter how good the product is. Especially because no one is or was expecting it to be Touchless in the first place. If they left that part out or even said on light to moderately dirty wheels this can be used in a Touchless manner then that’s different but it could take someone from being super impressed without that claim to having some negative thoughts solely based on unrealistic claims that CarPro definitely knows is not possible. So with that being said I am a little disappointed in the directions but I sure can’t wait to try this stuff nonetheless!
@@BreezeMW yup that was my feedback take out “no scrubbing needed” in the description and that would solve it. Nonetheless it is an excellent wheel cleaner. Top notch
Wheel X is tremendous..its top 3 with ADS and MWC imo...cant go wrong with any of the 3...none of them however are a touchless, ridiculous marketing by Carpro on this one. Fun Fact...The carpro dilution bottles (empty) have the same sprayers as the ADS bottles...so f'n goooooood...second only to the MWC sprayer, which ironically, i take my gallon of ADS wheel cleaner and pour into the mwc bottle lol.
No wheel cleaner is touchless in my expereince. Would love to see you have a show down with Labocosmetica Sidero, Sonax The Beast Wheel Cleaner and the strongest of the Sonax's Wheel Cleaner Plus. They all smell like hot cheeks to qoute Eddie .Just suggestion wipe insdie the wheel barrels and see how much grime and brake dust was still on the surface.
@FineDetailingAZ no it's not acid based. Poorboys spray and rinse. Trust me give it a go you will be shocked. I only use it on real finicky rims that hard a pain to clean, like bmw m3 and so on, as it's not really cheap over in Australia.
@@lukeskywalker2013 brake buster is awesome but it doesn’t clean embedded brake dust very well. BB is maintenance product in my experience. It works dont get me wrong, but you’re scrubbing. This is a good first step to get 80% off
I love how they claim touchless everything wheel cleaners wash soaps .what I want to know when they can invent something that will come out of the bottle and do all the work for us and see how much it will cost.
Yeah I know for Bilt Hamber at least it's meant to be Touch-Less meaning you don't have to touch it as much but still a little misleading. Carpro does say "no scrubbing necessary" but later in the instructions it does say follow up with agitation. My only piece of feedback is to remove that statement.
@@jameelsmith3566 haha all good man. I’m always happy to try stuff people tell me to. Found some on auto forge. I do a new one in a month or so and try poor boys and 3 other new ones
@@mbrunskill lol I wasn’t quite that much. It atomizes quite well but I did want to over do it for this test. I really wanted to see if it could be touchless.
@@omarstephenson8967 this was a customer vehicle so he didn’t pay for that. I feel like the majority of people don’t have ceramic coated wheels so this was a great real world test. My wheels are ceramic coated so I’ll use these in future videos.
@@btbd2785 great question. Because I was outdoors and I didn’t expect the smell to be that strong. I also thought I would be far enough away. When I apply stronger ceramics indoors to do wear a respirator sometimes.
That seems like a lot of expensive product for one wheel, and so-called touchless doesn't work. I'll stick to either Adams Wheel & Tire Cleaner or P&S Brake Buster for now.
@@deanbush for sure I did want to over-apply for the purposes of the test. I think it’s a good starting point . It helps break down a lot of contamination the. You can go back in with brake buster or even soap to get the rest. That’s how I would use this. Also it’s not an every wash type product. I’d do this once a month.
@@Detailguy101 I didn’t get the banana from the gyeon wheel. Normal gyeon iron yes banana smell. I could be wrong on the wheel. Only one that didn’t smell was ADS. Gyeon was minimal

@ wheelx is that price in the liter?? What about ADS in gallon form? Is it cheaper then?
They BOTH did a very good job. I do prefer ADS because of the cling and smell (Squash). That's the only reason why I'd give it the edge.
Thank you for taking the time and showing us each one 19:25

Great comparisons 14:14
YESSIR!
