Yamaha DS55 is an 8 polyphonic FM synth from 1988. with 8 multitimbral functions. It also has some type of very limited auto-arrangement possibilities (called Auto Performance) and arpeggiator.

Pattern 19 HEIL R&R ??? That can only be music legend Reinhold Heil. In a recent interview, he revealed having been allowed helping to program one of the four pre-DX test ballons, in that case the 1982- GS2 a little bit. Unfortunately, not any of my magnetic strips has the breathy bell type sound from NENA's "Ganz Oben" or Cosa Rosa's "Traumstation". Obviously Reinhold kept those particular sounds to himself, .. just found a patch that might have served as those fabulous patches init source, nothing else.
It's interesting that the DS55, unlike the V50, generates its drums exclusively via FM and has an automatic accompaniment. I did not know that. Even today it looks stylish & I love the warmth TX81z's descendants spread. A little a pity is that unlike GS-series & DX9, the latest line of vintage 4 OP FM machines don't have free running operators anymore.
