The Yamato battleship was in the pc game Klingon Academy. The blue phaser was called an Assault phaser and then Klingon empire did have a ship with one too. Excellent game with some cool ship designs.
I love that game. I once took a shuttle to a black hole against The Sword of Kahless. Fly as close to the accretion disk as you can, wait till the gravity well starts pulling you and then go to warp 1, the sheer mass of the bigger ship will keep it in the gravity well, eventually leading to its destruction.

The Yamato has blind spots I took it out with an Okinawa class years ago when I played Klingon Academy every day. I was a challenge to say the least maneuverability was key and the assault phasers were the primary target.
3:04 I did want you to test the TOS version (Yamamoto-class) against the TMP-era Ulysses-class. This ship is basically the TMP equivalent of the Galaxy-X with a space station-grade weapon (a phaser lance as "Star Trek: Online" calls it).
This is the best multi ship concept iv seen so far looks like a real ship well armoured armed to the teeth a true Dreadnought 👍......great as all ways RB😊

Klingon Academy had a klingon analogue to the Yamato, the "Sword of Kahless", which was General Chang's flagship during the game. The Sword of Kahless was the only other ship that had an "Assault Phaser" (the blue beam of death the Yamato shoots). If someone's modded that into Bridge Commander, that might be an interesting matchup.
The Yamato class did have a carrier version. It was called a Battle Control Ship. It mounted fighters, pseudo fighters, as well as specialized shuttles.
Man I remember this battleship from Klingon academy, it's really obscure today but I think it's one of the best kitbash made in TMP Starfleet. It's great to see it back

I love the Yamato from Starfleet Command and Klingon Academy. It was supposed to be both as costly and strong as a wing of Constitution classes where Starfleet eventually settled for fielding more cruisers instead of a few battleships to have a more versatile fleet. It's great to see someone created it for Bridge Commander.

We need to see this against the refit Proxima. And since that ship could give a good fight to a Sovereign (at least a stock Sovereign), I’d recommend that matchup, too.

Ive always been curious why there is only 1 warp core per ship. Considering how often that thing fails and also how practical a second energy source would be for redundant shields and more powerful weapons, it seems like a slam dunk. And if the drive core fails for some reason, you can switch over and high tail it out of there.
That's a very good point. I do know Voyager had a backup warp core. However we never see it and it's never mentioned on screen. I don't think it's hooked up, just in storage somewhere. It would make perfect sense to have a reserve always ready to go though, like you say. 🖖

I feel like that would be a hell of a challenge even for a Dominion era Excelsior. Maybe if you have to get Q's influence, call in Sisko for help in the Defiant?
That thing is ugly as sin, but it gets the job done. I'd be interested in seeing it go up against some Lost Era ships, like the Ambassador-class. If it does well, then maybe we can see how it stacks up to the Enterprise-D.
I am not nuts about sticking two ships together to make one. The forward weapon is heavily unbalanced. The vengeance looked awesome! But I think it was the phasers (not the pulse one but something else) looks really odd when firing. Yamato is too OP for its era.

Yamato given her size, power requirements (involving two warp cores) and sheer amount of shielding and armor, not to mention the phaser turrets and big gun she has likely makes her comparable to the Ambassador Class in terms of sheer firepower. Which makes sense as the Vengence from the Kelvin Timeline was exactly that. Its technology based on the tech that was gleaned from the Narada. The Vengence was technically a battleship version of the Ambassador. Vegence has the advantage of tech while the Yamato has the advantage of sheer raw power and bulk and to be fair, technology wise they are not that far apart, with the Vengence supposedly about as advanced as a ambassador class early TNG era, So Yamato at least is a few decades below given its from the Late TOS movie era. I would say Its a even match. The Vegence has tech on her side and advanced weaponry, but the Yamato backs is multiple weapons with a crap ton of torpedoes which at most would be comparable to what the Vengence is packing. Ironically I can see both wiping the floor of TNG era ships comfortably until they face something like the Nebula and the Galaxy which would be technologically superior to both in both technology and firepower. Yamato wouldn't have the firepower to destroy either one reliably, Vengence as well despite her tech advantage she would still be decades out of date compared to the TNG era vessels.
I think the AI in the Yamato must have been having a break when you were using the Vengence. I think it should and could beat the Vengence. It never got to fire its super laser fo do you are lucky. .
Yeah, it's not surprising that you can't find a TMP era ship that can fight it. The Yamato class was specifically designed to be the last word in battleships for it's era, Starfleet deciding that it's had enough of arms races and building a ship that could face tank the entire klingon armada. Even in the SFC games where it comes from, the Yamato is pretty much *the* battleship. Sure, the klingon ones technically have more firepower, but it's the better designed one. In-universe, it primarily runs into the issue of being (for its time) Galaxy+ grade expensive to make and being so bleeding edge that it's commonly down for maintence. But when it showed up, pretty much everyone would rather run away than face her. Throw her at the Dominion War RBG Galaxy.

Why didn’t a ship this size employ multi layering of shielding giving the ship shields time regenerate. The ship would automatically flip from drained shields to secondary shields and so on to out last up to 10 other ships while in battle

So, a ship specifically to stop the Doomsday Machine. Why bother? Spock clearly stated said that on the assumption there could be another such vessel chewing its way through the scenery, he’d just mock up some planetary remains with a suitable charge on board so that the Doomsday Machine would essentially kill itself whilst refuelling. Yes, that’s not as dramatic as force-feeding it another starship, but a lot more efficient.

That's similar to the one ship that has a Borg Cutting beam, and not unlike the USS Kyoto, the Fed/Klingon hybrid ship--but their beam is not anywhere near this powerful.

The Yamato was one of my favorite Trek ships when I was little, Klingon Academy did such a good job at making all its many ships feel canon.

Maybe you should try it against some Pre-Borg/Dominion War ships. I would love to see what this ship could do against a Galaxy Class.

Maybe the question is, how many excelsior classes can it take on at once? Or constitution classes? Or a Klingon fleet?
