More specifically vertical compliance and lateral stiffness. A well made carbon wheel is vertically compliant enough to dampen harshness and hits but be supportive in the right way, but latterly stiff so no flexing over from side load and cornering. I've seen some nice clips of carbon wheels not designed well for high g being folded over on berms, which the rider described as unpleasantly feeling like it's harshly snapping back
