Looking for a versatile new home improvement project? Well, it doesn't get much more versatile than the coved ceiling. In basic terms, a cove is an arc that connects the ceiling to the wall. So, you're essentially eliminating the sharp edges around the entire room. But we mentioned versatility, right? There are so many different ways you can install the cove kit that you can really create any look you want. Watch the video to find out more!

I live in a 1962 home with plaster coves in my dining and living room. Everyone remarks how beautiful they are. It is definitely an art.
Thanks! I am purchasing an late 1800s home and this would definitely re-add the charm once lost!
This looks like an awesome product! I will definitely be trying this out!!
As a contractor I have used this product for arched entryways. Excellent product.
+Steve Eck Thanks Steve!!! We appreciate it. Shoot us an email with your tshirt size and I will send you a shirt for taking the time to give us a great comment!!
Steve Eck yeah right.
Art at work. They show it impeccably. Congratulations
Fantastic , what a great promo vid, what a great idea. Love it
Very exciting and informative video. Thanks, and can't wait to try it myself! Great idea to give this to do-it-your-selfers. Love ArchKing!
Looks nice if done correctly. Also, I would probably opt to use this on a room with 10 foot ceilings rather than standard 8 foot. I expect it would make an 8 foot ceiling room look too small.
That sounds like a great idea. Whatever makes the job easier I am all in for trying.
I have seen this product utilized in a dining room of a model home, and it was beautiful. I was hesitant about tackling such a project on my own, but after watching the video it seems less complicated than I imagined. Thanks for posting such a detailed demonstration!
This is cool, definitely going to give it a shot next house I buy to flip or rent. A quick thought. Seems like with a room this big it would make life far easier to set up a molding piece at ground level and get the form started there. Sort of like using a brake for tin in a sense.
You give DIY'ers a lot of credit...
This is awesome !
There was a time when a cove like that was made in a wooden trough with plaster of paris and strips of linen by an artisan.
Nice voids to hide plumbing, electrical, ect. Got me thinking.
+Chris Quetsch we have done reverse coves to hide duct work as well. You can see that picture here (lower left hand side) instagram.com/p/pcRThPsGmt/?tagged=cove57
Archways & Ceilings nice
loving that royalty free music
i live in a house coved ceilings that are plaster done in the 40's. your kit will look more authentic if you leave out the texture. nothing says track home like wall texture. I wish they would just sell 6 inch radius formed drywall you put up first, then hang the field. smooth wall gives you a nice vintage look.
Excellent product! As a painter/carpenter this saves me the time of cutting the coves myself, and having left over debris form the wood. Next time a customer asks for it I will have to try recommending it.
Don’t fall for this ! dear weekend warrior this is a lot of hard work. I give this project a high difficultly rating. Huge amount of time and mess . Not for the unskilled or faint of heart
So beautiful
Thanks Catherine!
All well and good providing your house is completely timber framed.
Brilliant!
awesome like your works art
good job
muito bom! excelente!
I could not imagine going through the hassle of installing a cove ceiling in a bedroom without adding some nice lighting to it.
They make coves out of foam with virtually any shape you want, easy to install and all you have to do is paint liquified plaster on them.
ateamofone it would you mind giving me the link to this company?
not sure if this would help, look on page 5 www.pcfgroup.com/intcat.pdf
How can i use this to make the recessed portion deeper? Its definitely a great product as is. I thought it would give my masterbed room an extra kick if it was a little deeper.
cisco martin Get a more precise quote by punching your dimensions online here: www.archwaysandceilings.com/cove-ceiling/ You can also change the radius from a smaller size to larger size depending on your project.
Tip. Use so sona tube to 'pre' radius your drywall before you start putting it up. That way you can let gravity and moisture do the work and create a more uniform radius prior to install.
Clever. We dig this tip
we covered it so we could spray texture on the ceiling. We uncovered it after we finished.
This makes me want to binge watch old GMM episodes..
Getting the ends to meet just right is a skill, I bet. :D
so if i was to take a normal strip of PVC plastic, which bends and can be screwed, I would kind of eliminate the need for your product?
Not at all. The reason their product exists is not because of any material that it's made of. It's because it's ready to install. It's already been cut, shaped and sized for the application. If you want to buy PVC, cut, shape and size it to your application, go ahead, enjoy the headache that comes with it. Otherwise, pay a little more and save a lot of time and headache.
This is a waste of money.
good job :-)
Thanks! We appreciate it
神奇的工法~讚~
Giant crown mold
nice tnx for sharing
This is amazing! I had no idea that such a product existed! Definitely going to suggest as an option to my customers!
Sweet! Glad you found us!
Would this be affected in truss uplift situations?
nice look that
Hello Wesley my mistake on saying there was cuts to the back of your drywall I see there is not.But I do see those horizontal indentations from the drywall screws. So what I'm looking for is some sort of technique or trowel of sorts to plaster over this problem I know there is a black rubber trowel out there at least here in Canada' also one might use a rubber or plastic material cut and shaped to the crowns dimensions in order to apply coats of plaster to new drywall or an old existing plaster cove.
There just doesn't seem to be a "cove trowel" out there that is sufficient for this application. Was not dissing your drywall technique but rather fishing for answers.
Thank you for your very informative video it is very helpful.
No problem. You should check with these fellow Canadians...these guys are really good at drywall applications but may have answers regarding Plaster. PrecisionTaping .
Thanks again Wesley for the presision taping site.
I thank yuo very much,my Brothers;
everything was going good up until the it revealed the paint.
it was nice,... until the homeowners painted it those ugly colors
The cove is way to big for an 8ft ceiling and the finished color scheme sucks.
Excelente🌎
so easy!
TOP TIP...BETTER GET A PRO TO DO THIS...even if you can handle the demo and install....95% of home owners won't be able to do the drywall finish work!!!!!!
You wouldn't need a pro but you better have some drywall experience under your belt.
great full video
thanks a lot dear
(can u upload video step by step )
The music is the old good mythical morning intro music =P
My grandparents had this in their living area in a house they built in the fifties. I wonder how it was done back then. 🤔
Is that mdf board the cove curves?
yes. You can find more info on them here www.archwaysandceilings.com/product/cove-ceilings/
The guys, with all due respect, have uncomfortable moments in the whale: Two people are involved and laborious in the number of operations under the ceiling, even if you do not take into account the finishing trim. It is much easier to make a demountable formwork made of thin plywood and pour polyurethane foam in it. After solidification on the foam, I put the Sheenrock from the spray gun and as a result work on you Installation of polyurethane panels and sealing of joints also with mounting foam))). From Russia with love
Thank u
i want that KIT..
genial!!!!
It seems it will take away volume and make room smaller
Yeah, for spiders....
This would be ideal for high ceilings
May i know the thickness in mm of the Gypsum?..What kind f Gypsum is possible bend like this?. good upload, Thank you
1/4" rock and did a double layer
nice
You do know they make bendable sheetrock, right?
Plan on 2 to 3k in finishing!
Now if you could make drywall precurved, that would be awesome. The biggest trick is to NOT CREASE THE DRYWALL during installation. For best results, having a solid backing, will reduce the creasing effect. If you crease the drywall it is almost imposable to get a round shape. +25 yrs exp and many round stuff
jeffrey thomas It looked creased when he bent it into a curve. Maybe score the back? Plus they got extra texture on the wall which will probably show as well. Good work doesn't require texture.
This is A LOT of work.
Corded drills?
do you make a smaller one...on 8 foot ceilings that's just way to big
Yes. We make them as small as 8". You can see a a variety of sizes here www.archwaysandceilings.com/product/cove-ceilings/
A DIY person would have no chance getting a decent job done on here. Many pros would mess up too. There are so many things that can go wrong. I've been a professional taper/ jointer as we call them here and coved 1000s of rooms too. Great Idea but no chance for DIY ers
RealRacingGURU I've hung and finished drywall all my adult life, 24 years now, and you took the words out of my mouth.
it seems like a good hiding place for all my stuff
also spiders, scorpions, wasps, bees, mice, rats, Guinea pigs, cats, dogs ,horses giraffes, elephants and dinosaurs.
Don't forget the hookers.
@@optimusprimo2012 you had me at Guinea pigs, lol
Looks like hard work, As a ceiling fixer myself I would say this is not a DIY job. Would end in disaster. Just buy coving instead.
I wish they would have shown a little bit on how to mud, that is the most difficult part, if I was shown how than I most likely would buy.
How is this cheaper then crown moldin i can have crown done in that room in 3hrs painted and all for like 300
as a contractor , it can not be done at a fraction of the cost compared to crown molding.
Super
What about where the room you are coving meets a hallway that you don't want coved?
Very good product, but as a contractor, I noticed that you covered the smoke detector in that room.
Why dont you score the back of the drywall with a utility knife before wetting to make the curve easier
won't the drywall get mold from getting wet
Not normally. Pro drywallers routinely wet the back of sheets to bend them. And think about it - Drywall mud and latex paint are both water-based.. you are putting a tremendous amount of water on the surface of your sheetrock when you finish the joints and again when you paint it. As long as it's able to dry in a reasonable timeframe it won't mold. But that said - I *have* seen mold start in projects where there was not adequate airflow for the joint compound to dry quickly - mostly at outside corners and other 'built-up' areas, but these were jobs in southern Florida that wound up closed up tight for weeks in the high-humidity season due to job stoppage (no $$$). IF you're worried you could also probably extend that drying time by adding a little mildewcide in your sponge water.
(4:30) i thought the guy said they were using 2 layers of 1/4" drywall? is it 1 or 2?
2 layers. You install one layer at a time.
How and where we can buy the cove kit
You can get them made to order here: www.archwaysandceilings.com/product/cove-ceilings/ or you can buy the Grab N Go here: www.homedepot.com/p/Archways-Ceilings-11-1-4-in-Radius-Prefabricated-Cove-Ceiling-Kit-UCK/204304249
Corded drills? How old is this?
hey always blue chalk for drywall
nice,,,,
That looks like something I'd want to remove, not add. Maybe because the bedroom is too small, idk. But that's a lot of work for such a weird thing.
right...👍
Hey guys now come up with a kit for perfectly smooth untextured cove and I will buy in on that.
No texture needed here....nothing but smooth drywall pics www.archkit.com/cove-ceilings/
I have never seen a ceiling like this, do ceilings every month of every year.
nice corded drill.
Is this soundtrack from the "little mermaid"?
All the fun said.. it might be a coo ceiling, don't think it is DIY.. but may be a cool ceiling and this would not be cheap btw.
also the colors are not that great, bt what do I know? I let the H/O'ers pick the colors.
u
Great video. Finished job looks really bad.
G
LOL
skip to 2:00 and you will avoid all the sales shit and get to the actual install
lol before: room with only bed, after: room decorated with stuff
it looks nice but you should put different colors like neutral colors
👍 👍
why are you guys using all CORDED DRILLS? in 2017 ? good job though..
agree. cordless is the way to go... this was taped back in 2012 and published in 2013

+Warren P , And why not?
Gusto ko lng
there are easier and better looking product's on the market.
To much work for end result.
Ah ok
$300 for one kit? Yeah, I think I'll pass on that.
How in the world is this easier and cheaper than crown molding?
