    I made my own before I ever purchased Lechuza. I made mine too heavy once I ordered a bag and saw what it really looks like. PON is also very dense the more you use so adding pumice or chunky perlite will help aerate the roots.

    DIY pon is the way to go! Now I add coarse perlite and leca to stretch it a bit and it's perfect!🥰

    The high mineral content in Fluval Stratum really encourages crazy root growth. So I use it on top of Pons. … PS: Stratum is great for growing seeds, my Gloxinia are doing best in it in a side by side test.

      That’s interesting to use it on top of Pon! I heard people like to mix it in Pon and Perlite even! I’ll have to try that method!

    Yes, I do use fluval. It hasn’t molded for me. I use it for plant propagations, for certain plants. Alocasias root very well with it, philos, and Scindapsus’. It helps me to transition to pon easier after the out grow the prop stage. I just started pon! And it seems to have snapped my Anthuriums back. I will be trying to transition my other plants eventually. 💚💚

    No molding issues at all with stratum & as i am sure you have already heard, it roots like a boss. I love it, but it is messy. I use small plastic cups with holes & put those cups in a sized up cup to hold the water, then i place them on heat mats.
    I also made my own pon recently & chose against the slow release fertilizer bc like you, i have a ton of awesome liquid ferts that need using up.
    Thank you for the fun video!!

      I’ve been using Stratum now for a year and absolutely love it! It works great and roots fast for all my propagations for my store! Love that you made your own pon and found this video useful 🪴✨

    Pon is deff my fav but I do use leca for larger plants because you do use a lot of it very easily. Haven’t tried making my own mix tho out of laziness lol

    • @plantlifelex
      @plantlifelex  Рік тому

      I agree about using leca for the bigger plants. You have to use so much pon for each plant 😂 I’m surprised you haven’t made it yourself it was super easy!

    Yeah. Watching this because Lechuza is toooooo expensive and I have so many I want to transfer 😂

  •  Рік тому +2

    I know I wrote you on Instagram forever ago I think it was when you first started PON and you were telling me about it. Welp I just finally got my first bag of lechuza and I’m soooo excited! If I like it, I’m going to do cost comparison and if diy is cheaper I’ll go that way

    • @plantlifelex

      I’m glad you’re finally trying it lol!! Let me know it goes! I still want to try the lechuza brand but I can never seem to catch it while it’s in stock. That’s why mostly I make my own 😅

    •  Рік тому

      @@plantlifelex girl, idk why but I’m nervous to switch. Lol I’m wanting to first do my baby albo which I currently in chunky perlite and spagnum moss🤞🏾🙈 and the diy pon Is soooo much prettier than the lechuza. And I’m a big fan of aesthetics lol

    I know this a year old video, but thank you, I’m looking at making my own because I’m in Australia and it’s like $118 for 10 kg or something (that’s the actual brand).
    But you can pay $20 upward for 3 L

    With the close pots that you use, how do you flush the plants?

    • @plantlifelex
      @plantlifelex  Рік тому +2

      I only flush like once a month if that. Usually only when I notice buildup and I’ll just repot the plant with fresh pon. Or just simply hold the top of the pot and tilt the water out.

      Hi it’s just equal parts of everything used in the video! I just do a few cups of each ingredient and mix it up 🤭
